This book is for devout fans of the Avatar Last Airbender series and geek out on it. It is set up like a letter from the Avatar to his new son and he recounts many things from the comic. I guess that is a story. It is basically snippets of the story from the comics. They talk about each element and how they bend for a page each. Animals, people are discussed. It's really not a story though. Not at all.

I like Avatar art and the world they build.

It's not the best graphic novel I have read.

{November 13th, 2015} CUE DISAPPOINTED CRYING

1.5 to 2 stars, because wow I'm crushed.

As an ATLA and LOK fan, I was highly excited for this! Even preordered it because I thought it was out when it wasn't released yet.

How horribly wrong I was...

The art made me cringed and I was confused. I had the mindset that this would illustrate about the days when Aang trained Tenzin, about Team Avatar all grown up, but alas this is not the case. Instead it is an art book mixed with souvenirs like postcards, posters and the likes from the world of ATLA. Honestly I wouldn't have been so disappointed and hurt as when I saw the art. Usually I don't point this out or anything but this was hard not to cringe, make me squint with horror as I've flipped through. It's hard to overlook it.

Next time I won't preorder until I see the real thing in my hands, doesn't help that this was late as well. :/

Can’t believe I never got around to taking a look at this but I’m really glad I finally did! A nice refresher on the world of Avatar, with some cool extras. However, I really would’ve liked for it to have been longer and gone into a little more depth.

This isn't an extra graphic novel story or anything like that. More of a retelling of events from the TV show as told by Aang to Tenzin. Overall, a very nice companion piece with some fun pull-out goodies like creature posters and postcards.

3.5 stars. A cute recap of the series. I liked all the added extras, such as the Waterbending scroll, the Earth Kingdom postcard, and the Field Guide To The Earth's Fauna.

This wasn’t really what I was expecting. It was kind of just a recap of what happened in the Avatar series and I was hoping for a little look into the grown up Team Avatar. The pictures were weirdly drawn and the writing seemed very formal. It just doesn’t seem like something Aang would have written to Tenzin.
It was a nice recap though and I absolutely loved all the little pull outs and extras.

I missed my sweet kids, so decided to read this. It's supposed to be a "scrapbook" from Aang to his son, Tenzin, full of the things he's learnt on his adventures. There weren't many new things in here, maybe a few cultural bits. I'm just surprised that some of the illustrations are so... weird. They look too... chunky. Unfinished. Not sure what's up with that.

Anyway, that being said, can we please have comics with the Gaang as adults? That'd be so cool!

Even though I am a huge fan of Avatar The Last Airbender this book is one to keep as a commemorative keepsake. I did enjoy that this is Avatar Aang leaving a legacy for his son Tenzin and explaining to him through their eyes the 100 year war. Also, Toph I wish they would have given her more than just two pages since she does not fail at being unique.

Avatar Legacy as a new instalment the graphic do look a bit childish aside from the picture of Team Avatar in the beginning and the cover (okay maybe one or two other images) which are brilliant the rest is just fun to look at. Overall, I did enjoy the book! There's not a lot of new content (well nearly all of it) it does bring you back into the world of Avatar Aang and that was exceptional to remember all those wonderful journeys.

If you want to buy it to have it as a keepsake then that’s exactly what it is for. But as something that will bring you new material, that's not going to happen. Overall, this is a book that I will cherish since the writing is excellently done and like I said it dives you back into a Spiritual journey with the Avatar. :)

After having read this book I really want a book dedicated to all the past Avatars I think that would be something amazing to read!

Quick read, no new tales to tell, but I highly recommend as a recap if you haven't spent any time in this universe for a while and want to jump into the comics or watch The Legend of Korra. Bryke created this universe with the depth and history I might compare to Middle Earth, The Wizarding World, or Star Wars, so reading 'Legacy' right quick will save you some marathoning - of course, marathoning is magnificent, so, your call. I bought it because it was a lovely, small thing that lifted my spirits during a hard day, and it was money well spent. 3 ⭐️ for the recorded history and a bonus ⭐️ for the post cards and mini posters. It was a fun book - not essential, but fun.
I added a photo of where I hung my favorite posters because it was cute, and also I have no life.

This is a very basic recap of the series. I liked the two pictures of the gang as adults, but the rest was pretty skippable.

Okay, this book is basically just an illustrated spark notes of AtLA, written in the style of Aang writing to Tenzin. Despite it not being any new story, the recap is sweet, and the book comes with little art work you can remove from the book! Like! My heart! I love it.

Written in the form of a scrap book Aang made for his son Tenzin (when he was five), it contains pretty much total spoilers for the original series, and maybe minor spoilers about the Legend of Korra (or at least the world in which it's set). For fans of the shows, there's not much that's new, but it does make for a fun and kind of sweet keepsake. There are also some neat (and potentially easy to lose) inserts like a comic book and mini-poster and so forth. And a few letters from Toph, Sokka, and Katara to Tenzin, which all seem to do a decent job of capturing the characters' personalities, while changed enough from the original series due to their being adults when they write the letters. My favorite is Katara's. And there's an adorable picture at the end of adult Aang and Katara with Bumi and Kya as young children, and Tenzin as a baby. Anyway, the book is in no way necessary for fans; it doesn't expand the knowledge of the Avatar world at all. But it's pretty cool for what it's meant to be.

Hrm. I was really hoping for something more like a comic with this book, or perhaps like a picture book. Something with a bit of plot. This is just a summary of the series, with a somewhat deceptive title. After all, if you see a book cover of Aang and Tenzin, with the title "Legacy," you think we;re going to get more involvement with Tenzin, but this is basically a scrapbook.

If you want to learn more about Avatar, fine, but you're not going to learn much more than what's in the original series. Really you'd be better off getting the comics than this book. And if you're looking for an Avatar-related gift, I'll tell you right now, get the comics! This will be a huge disappointment.

For the individual, unless you're a rabid collector, pass on this. See if your local library has a copy, if you really want to read, but pick something else to purchase if you really need some Avatar on your shelf.

This was an amazing addition to the entire Avatar universe! It’s a great introduction for newcomers, and a very heartfelt run down memory lane for the old fans.
The best parts were Sokka’s letter to Tenzin (lol) and all the brilliant extras like the postcards and fliers for The Ember Island Players and The Jasmine Dragon.
Very highly recommended for any level of fan within the Avatar universe.

Cute recap/overview of the events of the original framed as a letter from Aang to Tenzin. The inclusions are detailed and cool to look at. You don't get anything new at all, though, and some of the art looked a little... off. I was honestly expecting a bit more from this. Only a book for the really big hardcore fans.

It’s cute but sometimes the art style is super weird. I mean in one picture Aang looks pretty high.

Years after the end of the Hundred Year War and the events chronicled in Nickelodeon’s hit cartoon series “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” Aang puts together a scrapbook of sorts to give to his own son, Tenzin. The result is "Avatar: The Last Airbender: Legacy," a book that any and all fans of the show are sure to love! This is a collection of all kinds of bits and pieces of lore, including maps, historical facts, knowledge about the different people of the world, and information about how different kinds of elemental bending work. Also included are things that Aang collected during his travels around the world with Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Prince Zuko, loosely attached to certain pages (be careful they don’t fall out!), as well as letters from those important friends.

This book is definitely not for anyone who is unfamiliar with Avatar. Fans, however, will love this opportunity to revisit a favorite world and gain a little bit more in-depth information about different parts of it. There is lots of great stuff packed into this book!

As expected, this is more of an Avatar: The Last Airbender encyclopedia than a novel. However, the premise of the book is that Aang has grown up, married Katara, and had kids, including Tenzin. This book is a letter-of-sorts to Tenzin, explaining the world and sharing memories that Aang and Team Avatar experienced.

The artwork in the book is fantastic- I wouldn't expect anything less. But really, if you've watched the animated series, there isn't anything new in this book that you don't already know. But it's fun to see the four elements portrayed, their strengths and weaknesses, what makes them unique, and so forth.

If you're a big fan like myself, you'll want this in your library. Otherwise, just watching the series will tell you everything you need to know. You won't find anything new here.

Hmmm I think I hoped for a little more? I'm a big ATLA fan and I'm so deep in the story of everyone and every bit that happens in the hole universe.

It was a cute review of everything that happened through the story, but honey, I have re-watched the series a lot of times, I know. It would have been nice to know a little more of anything between the ending of the comics of ATLA and Korra; about Aang and Katara's family, their adults lifes and all that jazz.

Sometimes the narration was a little of? Like it was supposed to be Aang telling the story but in half of it, it felt like some copy paste from an Avatar related wikipedia.

Also I read a digital version and maybe a physical copy would be more sentimental.

*shrugs*

This is less a novel/comic and more a collection of information about the Avatar universe. It's essentially a scrapbook that Aang contructed for his youngest son Tenzin, the next last Airbender.

It has a lot of cool little items like an Earth Kingdom postcard, a Waterbender scroll, a flyer for the Ember Island Players and a lot more content that makes it seem like it came straight out of the Avatar universe.

I was hoping for a more conventional narrative that involved seeing Aang and Tenzin's relationship, but this was a cool too.

I'm sure if I was a younger fan of avatar I would have loved this book. But since I'm older a book that's basically just a rehash of the series isn't all that appealing. Some of the graphics were nice some were not. I love the inserts it gives me something to framed and but in my wall. Not a total waste of money but something I wish I had paid WAY less for.

A great book for fans old and new, with neat pull-out mini posters and post cards from the series. However, the writing feels ungenuine. The book is a collection of letters written by Aang and Katara, but it feels so plastic (for a lack of better words.) I'd say buy it if you're a collector of ATLA, or just getting into it, but otherwise it's nice enough to look through in the book store.

I loved this book but I wished there was more. I feel like there are still a lot of information he missed out, like a lot of their adventures (when Team Avatar became adults maybe?). At the same time, I get why not all of it was mentioned (because the comics are still going on). Still, I'd recommend reading this if you're an ATLA/LOK fan! It'll make you nostalgic for sure.
