This is book two of The Bayberry, Vermont series and the main characters are Carrie Byers who has lived in town all of her life, and Jackson Wright, her childhood friend and neighbour, who left after school to pursue big city life and work. Carrie had always dreamed of having her own business and is about to open her own shop, Totally Chocolate, but had hoped to be involved in the Bayberry Happy Hearts celebration taking place for Valentine’s Day, but that is controlled by her high school nemesis. Jackson has had to return home to help sort out his mother’s life, after she lied to him for years and ended up gambling pretty much everything away, including family heirlooms he was supposed to have inherited eventually. He has been working in the London office of a security software firm, having worked up to being the vice president. He had taken long delayed holiday time to sort out his mother’s affairs, but his work seem to ignore that fact and are one the phone or emailing him at all hours. He needs to finish clearing his mother’s large house and also sell a business property in town, to allow his mum to buy a smaller place in town and have money to live on. Then he expects to return to his life in London. But meeting Carrie again by accident, on her opening day, when his noisy renovations in the shop next to her, cause too much noise and stuff to fall off her walls, has him thrown for six. He had wanted to quickly sell the building, but no one is interested in the shop next to Carrie’s as it used to be a fifties diner and has been left in a rundown and unusable condition for far too long. He had no idea that his need to help his mother, would possibly ruin her new business and leave her dreams smashed to pieces. He likes how Carrie has turned out, but there seems to be no point starting a relationship is he is leaving in just a few weeks! He has promised to keep his mother’s gambling addiction secret, but only if she got treatment for her addiction. Loads of people in town have noticed his mother’s absence, coming up with various explanations.
Carrie’s grandmother was the one to believe in her and help her with the finances to open her shop and she wants to pay her back. Her close friends Abby, Kate and Sadie have also supported her and turn up for her opening day, sending along lots of others to support her shop. They turn up at the end of her first day to take her out for a celebratory dinner and talk turns to Jackson and her previous feelings for him. He had ended up trying to kiss her at the end of their prom in high school, catching her completely off guard and she turned her head, so he got her cheek. She hadn’t wanted to lose her best friend and tried to ignore his actions, which just made things uncomfortable between them and hurt him badly. Their friendship had never been the same after the attempted kiss as teens and distance soon made it fall away. He comes to realise that he has always compared anyone he dated since with her and that she is the only one he could love. He had been filling his life with his work, but he definitely wants a family in his near future. He soon has to meet with Brittany Scott, his mother’s real estate agent, but also the one who has carried her high school anger into refusing those she hated back then, into the coming celebration held in town. He manages to get Carrie back on the list, but this pressures her to come up with a special menu for the night, on top of all the special items she had made for her opening day. Brittany is part of the town’s council and has her eye on Jackson, as she had in school and Jackson had to return the favour by using her when he sells the building. He wants to persuade his mother to come back to London with him, so she will be in different surroundings and away from temptation. But he doesn’t realise just how much she loves her town and relies on all her friends and those she knows there. Even Jackson’s old friend Mark, can easily see that he still loves Carrie and pushes him to ask her out, before he regrets not trying. It looks like Jackson will have to do something quite different to get Carrie to see him as something other than a friend and so begins a wonderful and well thought out Valentine’s week of gifts and surprises.
A lovely tale of long-lost friends and dreams for the future. The strain of best friends putting a different spin on their relationship and bringing in romance to the mix, leaves worries about whether anything will ever be the same. Is it better to stay as best friends, or risk losing that for a romance that could fail? Jackson has to decide if his workload is really what he wants in his life or if love is worth risking it all for. Loved the fact Carrie finds it so hard to figure out who her Valentine could actually be! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Valentine's in Bayberry by Jennifer Faye, book two in the Bayberry, Vermont series, is a beautiful and touching story of best friends reuniting, trusting the connection growing between them, and accepting a once in a lifetime love, within a wonderful small town community as they celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Carrie Byers and Jackson Wright were best friends, from the time they were kids. When Jackson makes a teenage misjudgment, and tries to show Carrie he feels much more, she gets scared and doesn’t want to ruin her friendship with him. They go their separate ways but these best friends forget to keep in touch with each other.
Jackson moved to London to start a successful career while Carrie stayed in their hometown of Bayberry Vermont; recently obtaining her dream by opening up her own chocolate shop. They lost contact and their friendship. Jackson has now returned to Bayberry for a while to help sort out his mother’s health and finances. Suddenly their friendship was just like old times. Except Jackson feels more than just friendly toward Carrie, wanting to be more than friends, determined to win her heart. Carrie is afraid to let her feelings for Jackson go any further than the friendship she cherishes, blocking him at each and every turn. Jackson is determined to convince Carrie to take a chance on love and them, using the most romantic holiday to pursue her. This was an easy, enjoyable read.

What a charming heartfelt story by Jennifer Faye.carrie Byers has dreamt about being a business owner and now it comes to fruition with her opening up a chocolate shop ,well that is a shop that sells chocolate ,not a shop made out of chocolate you understand…Totally Chocolate would be on the map if only it was part of Bayberry’s Happy Hearts Celebration. But oh no what’s this, she finds out she might lose the lease as the owner of the building wants to sell. Jackson Wright is vice president of a security software firm ,overseeing the London office. When he hears his mother needs help he’s straight on a plane to go home. He thinks to sell the commercial property …then finds that his ex Carrie is renting it for her chocolate shop. His loyalties are sure split as he on the one hand is there for mum,He’d quite to rekindle his friendship with Carrie …A to do it is and no mistake and it seems hearts are at stake too.Jackson lays cards on table and tells her how it is and then goes about proving she should be his , take a leap of faith with him their second chance dance . Great writing it has to be said . Now they’ve sorted their affairs of the heart and other things too they can turn out the light and go to bed.
Here’s all you need to know about this story: 1. Chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate! 2. Truly special hometown and hometown characters – and some of them are characters! 3. Tons of heart. Add in it is set around Valentine’s Day? What a wonderful read.
Carrie Byers and Jackson Wright are old friends, from when they were kids. Best friends, even. But when Jackson makes a teenage misjudgment, and tries to show Carrie he feels much more... She gets scared and doesn’t want to ruin her friendship with him. They go their separate ways but...did they really?
This is their story, of Jackson coming back to town after a long absence, with family problems that are so hard to handle, emotionally. But reading how these two rekindle their friendship is wonderful and warm and sweet and caring. And did I mention chocolates? VERY important to Carrie! Loved their story. It is a fun, stitch a broken heart, HEA, loving read. I enjoyed.
‘Valentine's in Bayberry’ was sweet. In addition, the heartfelt plot was filled with a specialty shop owner trying to make a favorable impression on the townspeople, a best friend’s return to town, having a mom with a gambling addiction, renovating an old restaurant, navigating around the town’s gossip, participating in the town’s Happy Hearts celebration, being there for a friend, a secret valentine, coping with a vindictive female, a revelation, a grandmother’s help, love, and a major surprise. I liked the author’s writing style: engaging and believable characters, an adorable small-town winter setting, a mesmerizing storyline, and vivid descriptions including imagery, figurative language, dramatic irony, humor, and down-to-earth word choices that created an upbeat tone, such as “The grapevine in Bayberry was faster than a flying snowball.” Overall, I liked the captivating narrative. Secret Valentine We’re back in the small town of Bayberry and this story features Jackson and Carrie’s road to a happily ever after, whether it be together or apart. Jackson finds himself suddenly returning to his home town which he left years ago to pursue a career overseas. Whilst home helping sort out his mother’s health and finances he hopes to reconnect with his childhood best friend Carrie, who he had missed more than he realised. Old feelings come rushing back and he vows to try to win the beautiful chocolate makers heart. Carrie afraid to let her feelings for Jackson go any further than the friendship she cherishes, thwarts him at every turn. Will Jackson win her heart? Or will all they have is friendship? A beautifully written story that I thoroughly enjoyed with wonderful characters. A really lovely, sweet series that I’m looking forward to continuing.
I enjoyed this book very much. The characters Carrie and Jackson were friends when they were young but grew apart when he moved to London and she stayed in their small hometown. They had a chance to reconnect when Jackson came to town to help his mother and finds Carrie has opened a chocolate shop in the building next to the one his mother owns. They catch up on the years they missed while Jackson decides to pursue Carrie and Carrie fights this because she wants to stay in their hometown, not go to London when he returns. They each do some growing while trying to decide if the other was right with their decision to pursue their dreams, her staying and him leaving . It was a very sweet story and would read this author again.

What a good, clean girl next door / best friend to HEA read. The town of Bayberry is so charming with all the good and bad characteristics of a small town, including some individuals who would rather hold on to the past instead of reaching for a future. This is the story of Carrie and Jackson who have drifted apart when their plans after graduation lead them in different directions, Carrie stayed in Bayberry to pursue her dream of owning her own shop and Jackson is a Vice President of a firm in London, England. Now years later, Jackson is back in town for a short stay to help his mother. Filled with good friends and a bit of mystery.

This was a fun book to read. I liked that it was a sweet romance set around Valentine's day. Carrie and Jackson used to be best friends until he went off to college and Carrie stayed in Bayberry dreaming of owning her own shop. It is many years later and Jackson has returned to the small town to help his mom. I could not wait to see what might happen between these best friends and I was not disappointed. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This was a sweet kisses only former best friends to lovers Valentine’s romance. Carrie just started a new chocolate business and has a secret Valentine. She wonders if her long lost best friend recently returned Jackson but he’s only there temporarily to take care of his mother’s affairs. She took a risk on her business but she won’t take a chance on them and pushes him away despite all his sweet gestures. He does keep saying he’s returning to his job in London and he almost loses her because of his secret.
This book is a cute romance set in the small town of Bayberry where everyone knows everyone and helps everyone. Not to mention the interference, though positive. Carrie and Jackson have been neighbours and best friends since they were kids, but are unable to express their love for each other, because they do not want to risk their friendship. Loved the efforts made by Jackson to winn Carrie. Looking forward to reading more books from the series.

This was a very sweet and charming story about lifelong friends, who become more. This a clean romance, that is an easy read. I would compare this to a Hallmark movie in the type of writing and story that is told. Very well written that flows smoothly and isn't too slow or drags. Some angst and drama, but of course an HEA.

Carrie and Jackson were neighbours and best friends growing up. That was until Jackson moved away to chase his career dreams.
Now, years later, Carrie has just opened her very own chocolate shop and Jackson is back in town to help his mother. Can they rekindle their friendship or maybe become more?
This is a lovely light hearted romance ending in a happy ever after. It only lost a star because it doesn't have any twists or surprises.
This is book 2 in the Bayberry Vermont Series. It can be read as a standalone, but I enjoyed it more having read the first one that tells more about the town itself. It was so good! Jennifer Faye never disappoints with a good story, with perfect characters and settings. I want to visit Bayberry!!!! I loved the small town feel where everyone helps each other. The characters would make wonderful friends!
This is Book 2 of The Bayberry, Vermont series by Jennifer Faye. It is such a sweet second chance romance that leaves a smile on your face. I was rooting for Jackson the whole time and was so happy when Carrie finally admitted that she loved him. They faced their share of problems until they reached their HEA. I highly recommend this book to all second chance romance readers.

Valentine’s in Bayberry is a stand alone, small town romance. Carrie and Jackson were once childhood friends and neighbours. Now fate has brought them back together but will Jackson doing the right thing for his family mean doing wrong by Carrie? Charming story with good characters and an easy to read storyline. This is a nice story with no real surprises and a hea. I definitely recommend this to all Hallmark fans.
Like a small town setting for the story. The characters are interesting and have attributes that make each one different but they can't help but be attracted to each other. Like stories when the characters fight that attraction but you can still feel it in the words. Love the chocolate shop idea especially around Valentine's. And we all know the holidays at an unexpected twist. Good read.

A very enjoyable, heartwarming story as Carrie fulfills her dream to open a chocolate store. Her childhood best friend, Jackson, is a total dreamboat and all-round nice person. I love the budding romantic relationship between them and the story of their journey.

Man, this book is truly one romantic and sweet romance book that everyone needs to be reading. I was instantly attracted to the cover and then once I began to read about Carrie and Jackson, I forgot about doing anything else for the rest of the day except reading and finishing this romance book by Jennifer. I am so excited to read the next book in this series.
“Valentine’s in Bayberry: Girl Next Door small town romance” by Jennifer Faye A Sweet Read This was a very good story. Although the two lead characters did aggravate my stress level to the point I had to take a couple of breaks before I got to the finale. Can I blame my stress level on the weather? Happy Reading ! !
This story ends with a HEA for the main couple but also a cliffhanger. Best friends for years grew apart when his life took him away from their hometown. He has wanted more but she's scared. Now he's back unexpectedly. Will he be staying or returning to his life abroad? How does she react to his reappearance? I can't wait for the next book to get the answers to the cliffhanger.
