Lying Game Complete Collection: The Lying Game; Never Have I Ever; Two Truths and a Lie; Hide and Seek; Cross My Heart, Hope to Die; Seven Minutes in Heaven; First Lie; Truth Lies
From Sara Shepard, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars books, comes a riveting series about secrets, lies, and killer consequences.
This collection contains all six Lying Game novels, plus two digital original novellas, The First Lie and True Lies.
Separated at birth, twin sisters Emma Paxton and Sutton Mercer never had a chance to meet. And now they never will. Someone murdered Sutton and forced Emma into taking her place. Sutton can only watch from beyond the grave as Emma tries to figure out who killed her—and why.
But as Emma digs deeper, the girls discover that the truth may be far more terrible than they'd ever imagined—and the killer may be a lot closer to home….
Sara Shepard graduated from NYU and has an MFA from Brooklyn College. She has lived in New York City, Brooklyn, Tucson, Arizona, Philadelphia, and now lives in Pittsburgh, PA. Sara's Pretty Little Liars novels were inspired by her upbringing in Philadelphia's Main Line.
I read the entire series, and although it was entertaining, the last two books were rough to get through. The ending was exceptionally predictable, and I figured it out early in book 3. There was one loose end I can’t seem to let go. How did the murderer get the phone back into Sutton’s room after her death?
The overall plot was interesting but there was way too much repetition and a lot of cliches. Descriptions were uninteresting and lacked creativity. I thought about stopping during the second book because of all that but I wanted to find out who did it so kept reading.
I suspected the person who did it the entire time until the last (false) suspect had all the evidence pointing at him, so that was done well.
Also, I hated her portrayal of mental illness. People with mental illnesses are not more likely to be violent than people without mental illness (they are actually more likely to be victims). It annoyed me when she she said that someone's "OCD side" was cute when he kept the house tidy and then used the obsessive behavior later as a clue that he really has antisocial personality disorder, bordering on psychopathy.
I didn't read the digital novella "First Lie" because the library ebook collection doesn't offer it and I don't think it is worth paying for.

This was the first book series I ever got completely gripped to! I was in Year 7/8 when I was reading these books. I happened to come across the books in WHSmith where the blurb just stood out and completely made me want to read it! I was I knew about the novellas, I didn't know there were any before I saw them in Goodreads! Once I had read the books, I discovered that there was a TV programme based on the series, I was absolutely delighted when I found out!! I watched the whole 2 seasons in 3 days, I just watched one episode after another! I was heartbroken when ABC Family said they were discontinuing the series, i couldn't believe it!
The Lying Game series will always be one of my favourites series I have read!
