This book is 370 pages of essential information for anyone who wants to know what there is to see in do the Washington State. It starts with The Best of Washington chapter that the best outdoor activities, beaches, hikes, scenic drives, wineries, family attractions, etc. The next chapter deals with trip planning, and most of the rest of the book guides you through the various regions of the state. The book is text-heavy and includes a few maps. The main drawback of the book is that there are no photographs, except for the cover photo.
This is just the nature of guidebooks - if they don't want to go where YOU want to go, then it won't have the information you would like...obviously. So there were a lot of things that I would have liked to have some info - ANY info - on that was simply missing from this guidebook. What WAS there that I used was fine.
A 2011 edition, does not have the slick paper of the Frommer's Seattle, and has no photos at all, just a bunch of plain maps, so though it is very detailed, I am only giving it 3 stars. Frommer's needs to use the format of its Seattle book in all its guidebooks!
You can't beat Frommers for up-to-date information about trip planning. I like this one for all the maps, and information on how long it takes to drive from place to place.
