I’m strong—or at least, I want to be. I try to be. Oh, how I’ve tried.
But life screwed me over. When I was at my weakest and lowest, desperate and alone, he found me.
Robert changed everything. He gave me everything.
He was every woman’s dream—rich, powerful, and charming. He made me forget the fact that he’s twenty-four years my senior.
He made me feel alive, and for the fir

description

Why do I do this to myself? Every time I see a book with an enticing and catchy blurb I hurry and buy it (regardless if there are any reviews) and almost always end up extremely disappointed. For me, the best part of the book was the synopsis, and whenever I was bored or frustrated or shocked (in a bad way) I reminded myself of the awesome blurb and what it promised and hoped the book would turn around. Nope. So while the premise was an intriguing one to start with, it was poorly execu

I really did try....I was looking forward to this one and the synopsis sounded good....I'm sorry I just wanted to punch Claire in the fucking face for how stupid she is. Robert is a fucking creeper....and at this point I have seen very little of Cooper but I'm pretty sure I know where this is headed.

This book is simply a winner because it held my interest from the minute I started to the minute I finished.

Just when Claire thought she could not have gone lower in life- she did.
Her foster parents kick her out on her 18th birthday- she has absolutely nothing besides a ratty beat up car and no money.

Living in her car and bathing in the diners bathroom that she worked at- yeah life wasn't peachy. Life was hard.

Her boss takes pity on her and let's Claire sleep in his office he owns at the

“Dear God, I was fucked.”

Ok – before I start my review, I am going to say that people will like this book and some people will not. It is not the writing or how the book is delivered. Some people just won’t be able to understand the main character, Claire. And for that I am truly sad for those people.

Claire has grown up in foster homes and really doesn’t understand what love is or what to expect in any type of relationship, whether it be friends, siblings or an actual relationship delving i

so I was looking forward to this a lot tbh. Well, most of that was cos there was a preview ch at the end of Fallen Fourth Down (loved it!) but yeah, so it sounded interesting and different.
I love the idea of this story, and I didn't buy robert's shit for a second. Gods, I love cooper :)
Ok, I read the author's note in the beginning, and let it slide for a while, but honestly? She didn't change one bit through the whole book, despite all the evidence and shit. There's a limit to how naive you can

I read Deception the other night and read it all in one big swoop! I could not put it down, I loved Claire! She went through some pretty rough times growing-up, a lot rougher than most other kids yet she never gave up and that is how I fell hard for this character. She just kept on going when it got tough for her, she was that girl that we all wish we could be if we had to face some incredibly hard obstacle that life threw at us. She worked with some of the best friends ever who always looked ou ...more

Recap: The complications, when you read the book, through the story development, you could sense the problems that will came. It is some sort of predictable.

But you will never predict what actually happened. It surprises me. I actually don’t think ‘that’ will happen.

The story process moves really quick and that is cool because I never like a draggy story.

The ending, there is a sense of something that doesn’t add up.

And those feeli

I LOVE KA's books but this one may very well be my least favorite. I just can't get past the creepiness of the characters age difference I just can't. I understand the story line and know that it was a must for the story but UGH no no no just no. It also doesn't help that I hate Claire :sigh: I tried to like her I swear I did and we were warned in the beginning of the book by KA but nope I just can't. I only kept reading because of Cooper. Will I read the next one? Yes LOL I know crazy right? Bu ...more

Me gustó pero tampoco es para tanto. Cooper me agradó y no me agradó.

An eighteen year old foster girl falling for a 40 something year old man was not what I saw coming with this one. But as promised by the author, Claire is a naive girl who finds herself way in over head when it comes to Robert Evan and his son, Cooper. I'm not sure what's going to happen next, but I'm on to RETRIBUTION to see how this all pans out.

Wow

I really like Cooper, I can't stand Robert and Claire I like and don't like. Cooper is trying to help her and she's just so blind. Even for an 18 year old, I mean come on. I love Shelly, Bob, and junie. I will be getting the second book.

I enjoy all of her work so far this has to be one of the best book I have ever seen. For starters the characters were a lot more intimate with each other. For example when the character which is Claire fell in love with a guy twice her age gave her a better life and wasn’t suffering by living in the car and being thrown out from foster care I found that being really considerate until I noticed a change from when he was being very controlling and trying to change her so I knew from the start she ...more

On Claire's eighteenth birthday she leaves work to come home to find that her foster parents had changed the locks. After banging on the door they tell her that since she is now eighteen, there is no need for her to live there anymore. Despite everything Claire packs up her things and leaves. With no where else to go she is forced to stay in her "christmas car" - the cars nickname because it is red and green - and work. She works at a little diner, and her plan is so save every penny she can. B

This was a pretty good book. Claire can be very innocent and naive and doesn't listen to her inner voice or others. She's been in foster care for years and been in many different homes. Some horrible and some better than others. On her 18th birthday, she is kicked out of her last foster home. She waitresses at a diner so she is forced to live in her car while she tries to save money for a place to live. Her boss at the diner owns also a gym and allows her to stay in his office since it will be s ...more

I am always intrigued by K.A. Robinson's books and this one was no different. I will be honest and say that I did struggle slightly with the heroine and how naive she is but she did preface this book by letting us know that it was going to the be the case, she's young and impressionable. She's never truly experienced love or had anyone show interest in her.

She wasn't a push over though and when push came to shove with some very snotty people she held her own. There were a few things that I woul

Wow what a whirlwind of lies, drama, deceit.

Hang on and let me get a grip on reality for a second.

Claire had a hard life. Anyone could see that. Robert came around at the perfect time. He was twice her age. He was wealthy and powerful. He made his self look like the perfect gentlemen. He made her feel special. But who couldn't see he was moving way to fast.

Claire is trapped what is she to do. He has made sure she has nothing now. She has no choice but to rely on

Wow, Wow and Wow,

I think I just found my new favorite K.A. Robinson book. I've always been a big fan of her work, but this one so far is my favorite. K.A. some major talent, Deception was so different and unique that I devoured this within a few hours. I couldn't put it down, it was impossible for me.

It was just such a well written book, and the story as well as the characters were well thought out. This title to this book definitely fit it perfectly.

And shes only 18 yrs old. In the end she endede up being this strong willed independent woman a woman determined to make it and not let life get her down.

Then Robert walks into her life and turns her world upside down. Robert is 24 years her senior and is able to provide for Claire things that she

Will follow through.

I will read book 2. I found Claire to be completely naive and annoying. Robert has some major character flaws and she is completely looking past them out of convenience for herself, so I say she deserves anything and everything that's to come. Cooper is supposed to be the knight in shining armor, yet I feel he is a smarmy turd and he professed how much he cares about Claire within days of meeting her and spending a few days hanging out. Come on! Yet there is something about

Okay so I will say that I am glad I read the note from the author about this book before diving in or I may of never given the character Claire the chance because she was very naive. I would think for someone having such a hard time in life she would be colder, harder and less trusting but she jumped right in. I'm so curious though as to what Robert has done. I can tell he is shady and he has the dominating side to him but I know right now he is trying to

Claire is a young woman trying to find her way. She has been in and out of foster homes since she was young and now at 18 she's been kicked to the curb. While struggling to survive she meets her knight with experience, Robert. He's a hot shot lawyer, powerful man, gorgeous, and old enough to be her father. As he pushes for more, Claire confuses control with love. When she meets Cooper, things are suddenly not what she expected.

I hate saying that Claire is naïve, because truly she's not. She's ki

This story was short. Claire started off being so strong and than turned into naive kid that was broken. The whole story threw off creepy vibes and I kept wanting to say "Oh come on an eighteen year old girl isn't going to fall for the crap Robert is doing" Rather unbelievable. After saying all this I still want to read the next book to see what happens.

Amazing as all Robinson's books are

This book is about a troubled girl who finds kindness in an older wealthy man, he however has different plans to claim her as his. What starts out as slow sweet dating quickly turns to a possessive controlling relationship.

Claire is a young girl that has grown up in the fostercare system since she was 3 and unfortunatley upon her 18th birthday she finds herself very alone with no home, no money and only her car that is not in very good shape. Thankfully she has some wonderful coworkers that help her out and because of their help she manages to meet a very powerful much older lawyer that just wont take no for an answer.....
