In the wake of her mother’s death, Lyssa Thomson flees her oppressive stepfather and heads for Halifax, intent on attending university and leaving her past behind. But things don’t go as planned, and with nowhere to turn, she’s forced to reconnect with her estranged stepbrother, Aidan. After finding some discarded medication, she quickly realizes all is not as it seems and that Aidan is not the person she remembers.
A Canadian writer!!!!!!! I really enjoyed this, and I would have given it 4 stars. However, the ending kinda confused me and I'm still a little confused about what happened.
a slow burn psychological thriller with a few parts that were a little freaky and made me keep coming back except wtf was that epilogue??? ive never finished a book feeling so confused in my LIFE and now im pissed off. Harrington had a near perfect book with a great climatic ending and then just decided to throw in an epilogue that made no sense and had no clarification. literally wtf. woulda been a 4 start until i finished. leaning towards 2 so ill settle on a 3. will give some extra points bc *Canadian author*.
One more time, I was positively surprised by the random Canadian books I got at the mystery bags from the book fair at Queens Park. This was not what I was expecting at all. I actually enjoyed the quick read, and the plot twist actually got me. Wow, sjhdfjdsh. Just the ending was like, ew, but I will ignore the last page, and then all is good!!
I loved this book! Couldn't put it down. Yesterday, I attended a seminar on schizophrenia and realized just how brilliant this story is.
I chose to read this book because I had read a review about it in the local paper. The topic of mental health intrigues me. The story also takes place in Halifax, which makes it neat... because it's home. I was surprised when I had found the book in the youth section of the library, thinking it would be a simple read on such a big topic.... You will not be disappointed.
