I loved this book. It was a super quick read and yet contained really powerful truths within it. If you desire to know more about worship this is a definite must read. Even if don't and just want a deeper relationship with God there are truths to glean that could very well assist you in getting there
I just finished reading Heaven’s Symphony. Ask me if I liked it and I will say “WHAT DIDN’T I LIKE ABOUT IT?????” I’m not sure if I knew what to expect when reading this book but I was fascinated to pick it up because music is something that speaks directly to my heart and I guess I wanted to find out what the author meant by “unlocking divine encounters through worship”.
This book was wonderful - start to finish. I could relate to some of what the author talked about personally in that I have always been drawn to nature and never really knew why. I guess I figured it was because I like quiet nature noises versus loud city noises, I feel peaceful and relaxed and have always said I feel “closer to God” when in nature than not. Now I know a little more why - Nature sings to God continually and I have been experiencing that without realizing it. It was like the author turned the light on for me and I was able to see that yes, that is what I experience out there in nature - a continuation of the running conversation I have with God all the time.
Another part of the book that I enjoyed was the explanation of how worship sets the stage for receiving the Holy Spirit before a church service. We experience that in our church every week and it wasn’t until the author here put that feeling that I have into words that I was able to say, “Yes, I know what he’s talking about.” And I’ve been to multiple churches in my life and that feeling of free flowing worship while “worshipping (singing)” isn’t present at every church.
I loved this book. I was excitedly telling my son about it as he loves music too and he asked me if he could read it too. This is a gem of a book…one that I hope many people will pick up and read because I believe they will be blessed too.
I received these books for free from the author and The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review. I have posted my review on Amazon, Goodreads, Deeper Shopping and Barnes and Noble.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book. Was it going to be a book about how we were suppose to worship? Would I feel inadequate in my worship time after reading this book? The answer to these questions set me on a path to truely understand how powerful worship can be and how I felt a peace come over me as I read this amazing book.
I related to the author instantly when he said his dad was a pastor. I , too am a preacher's kid. Sometimes that is a hard journey to travel , but as I read the book I began to understand the choices we are given that points us in different directions. I loved when the author said" Its easy to trust God and obey when life is what you want it to be. It's harder to trust and obey when we, like Christ, must take up our crosses to follow him."
I appreciate the author's transparency as he went through the hurt of going through a divorce. In those moments , he knew that God was working on him . He felt despair, loneliness and a sense of being lost. When he encountered his new wife Lisa, he was still feeling despair, but God had ordained an encounter with Timothy who became an amazing friend to him. I love the journey he experiences as he began to find his way back to God.
As the author begins to regain his trust in God , his worship became more meaningful and heartfelt. The author said," God loves to encounter us in corporate worship, but He is also looking for individuals who will be a tabernacle of praise."
Throughout the book, I began to see more clearly what true , unabashed worship is. Letting yourself be lost in his presence and giving Him all of you is what He wants. Everyone worships differently, and when we become comfortable letting go, we find ourselves in the beauty of His presence. Thank you for writing a book that helped me be more free in my worship and less distracted by others around me.
"Heaven's Symphony" by Steve Swanson is not what I expected at all. In fact, it was much more than I thought it would be. This book gets to the meaning and heart of worship with the author and perfecter of our faith through the Holy Spirit.
This book is for those who lead worship in a church as worship leaders or those who are seeking to experience worship in a whole new way. This book is perfect for the worship leader who is looking to grow and make a more impactful experience for those in their church and lead them into "worship" rather than just "singing" song after song. Worship is created through sound, imagery, voice, scripture, etc. I loved his perspective and knowledge on this part and will definitely pass this book on to my worship team.
Worship is also just more than music and I think that is the most important take away from "Heaven's Symphony." Worship is a way of life. We all have different ways in which we connect to God and worship him, but the most important thing is that we worship him. If you love music, you will connect with this book.
Heaven’s Symphony by Steve Swanson is “your invitation to unlocking divine encounters through worship” as the cover states. This is a wonderful discussion about true worship and how it should be approached. I have highlighted and starred many parts for future reference. Not only is this a great resource for worship leaders but also it is a helpful instruction for individuals who want to encounter God’s presence. Swanson’s sharing of his life and personal experiences in this worship journey is very interesting. He tells of his early years and the “side excursion” that he takes and how he is recalled to his true purpose. His journey is inspiring. Yet, the main focus of Heaven’s Symphony is a focus on the purpose of worship for a body of believers and for each individual. This straightforward and powerful message will guide the mind and heart into a clearer vision of what worship is and seeking God’s presence. I recommend this book which I received through TBCN in exchange for an honest review. This is a book to be reread and referenced many times. It has the power to change the way one views worship and enters into worship.
In this revelation, Steve Swanson gives testimony to the many facets of his relationship with God, and offers his experiences so that others can attain closeness with God. He describes the sounds of heaven through the sounds of the simplest things in life, and transcribes those sounds into music, Heaven's Symphony....
Also discussed are the steps used to effectively speak to God through thanksgiving, praise and worship. As the author states, "obedience is the key to staying in God's presence.... placing more faith in God's provision, goodness and wisdom...."
The author's experiences and wisdom are very intense and passionate, and resonate with the notes of sounds we hear every day.

Heaven’s Symphony by Steve Swanson is his personal story of how music has affected his relationship with God. Right from the start the author states that he experiences God through sounds. I really found that statement interesting as I had never thought about that before. Not just with music, but artists with color, author’s with words, etc.
I also enjoyed how he realized all the sounds of nature as creation gives glory to God, again another interesting perspective. After doing an extensive Bible study on the book of Revelation, I did come from that with a new realization of just how important music and song is to the worship of God. This book helped reinforce that.

This is a book about worship being more than music. Worship is why we were created. God created us for worship! This book encourages the reader to experience worship. Some of us are more dramatic worshipper than others, but that's okay. What matters is that we practice worship.
The author tells his story and how he ended up where he did. His life had a lot of different twists and turns, but God always brought him back.
I would recommend this book for anyone that truly wants to experience more of God.
I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.
Heaven's Symphony explains how worship is so much more than music. It is more than communication. It is an experience. The author describes his experiences in how he obtained his closeness. This book is for anyone who is looking for more in worship. I received the book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.
