I wasn’t sure what I would think about this book at first. The cover didn’t really intrigue me but the content did.

It starts with a few pages of introduction, then a few chapters on some overarching purposes she hopes the reader gets out of the book and some intentions. Following this are 8 weeks of daily readings with every five days having a set theme to follow regarding prosperity from spiritual to emotional to vocational. Every week, she takes readers through the theme in various ways, relating them to modern day situations as well as Biblical verses and readings. Each day follows a reading theme, then expounds a point of the day, and each day’s reading begins and ends with thought which is usually a quote or Bible verse. Like the other reviewers, I loved it so much that I started it and finished it sooner than 8 weeks.

I enjoyed her use of analogies! Specifically, in A Problem of Paradigms she compares a car’s engine with the soul. If the car’s engine is bad, repainting it, or changing the oil, aren’t going to do anything to help the engine, the guts, the inside. Until the car’s “soul” is fixed, it will be unreliable. (page 47). It’s a beautiful comparison that anyone can understand about our own soul. If we just try to fake it, without doing any real change within, we won’t accomplish anything.

I also enjoyed the fact that she doesn’t seem to take verses from the Bible and twist them to her point. In fact, she often expounds on how much she dislikes others who do that, who take a verse and twist it to make their point even if it doesn’t really work! Her writing style is clear, concise, without flowery, over the top language. I would definitely recommend this one for someone who might feel stuck with the constant battle of “I must be super wealthy and prove to everyone what I can do.” Prosperity is so much more than material wealth and she does a great job of pointing this out.

This book was a great read! It is meant to be studied throughout a 40 day period (8 weeks, 5 days each), but I could not put it down. It is a book to read, re-read, study, and apply to your own life. While reading, there were so much good information and applications that I could use in my own life. It's so much more than living for riches or the "prosperity gospel", but more of how to live your life to its fullest potential.

The author broke it down into a different category for each of the weeks: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, relational, social, vocational, and financial. Each of the different categories provided specific insight on how to reach a fuller life. At the end of each of the days it also includes a "Prosperity Point" that brings the entire day's subject together along with a "Prosperity Thought" to provoke further study.

Throughout the entire time reading this book, I found myself writing down notes from what I was learning from the reading. I also found it to be so applicable to life in general and hit home in specific things in my life personally. This book covers so many different things, but does a good job of getting the important "take home" things to get from it across.

This book encouraged me personally to want to live my life to its fullest, to what God has created it to be, not halfheartedly, but all in. I was challenged to constantly think the joy-producing thoughts of a life dedicated to Christ, to fully surrender over what I thought was best to The Best Thing: God, to see myself as the person I want to become, and so much more.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to "fulfill [their] purpose and maximize [their] potential."

A group of 10 of us did this book as a weekly Bible study. We started in September, 2016 and finished in December, 2017. Yes we took a year - studying one characteristic a week. It was life transforming journey. We've completed the three books in the series - over the past almost 4 years. We went deep because we wanted the Word to grab hold of us and transform our lives.

I enjoyed this book as I did, "The 40 Day Soul Fast," and "Reclaim Your Soul." Each book built on the other, although each can be read individually. Dr. Trimm gave some wonderful nuggets that when applied to your life will make a difference. I loved how she used the Word of God along with quotes and experiences. Each of these books lend themselves to digging deeper, seeing yourself in the Word, and Bible study.

I highly recommend this, and the other two books. I encourage you to travel on this journey with others. The additional insight and wisdom you'll gain are worth it. While the book is set up to do in eight weeks I suggest you take your time as you don't want to rush through this. You'll be glad you did!

Some good nuggets of wisdom. Overall, good food for thought for business, personal, relational development. The fact that it's designed as a kind of 40 day workbook makes the content easily digestible.

My Review:

God has undoubtedly always promised us that He is looking out for our best. Whether we see it or believe it, He does in fact want and wish the very best for His beloved children. In Jeremiah 29:11, He assures us of that fact.Having read Cindy Trimm's books, before I knew what I was getting into, so I knew that I would walk away from this review feeling encouraged and refreshed. And as always Cindy did NOT disappoint---the girl knows her stuff!

Rich with sound principle and good, solid Biblical advice Cindy Trimm will take you on another well researched journey through the latest addition to her, Soul Series, that is sure to get you to look at the term "abundant life" a lot differently. set up much like a devotional, this book has 40 entries or chapter, chock full of the authors commentary, along with scripture, questions to ponder and meditate on as well as well meaning scriptures or quotes.

Cindy's writings are more than just any old writing or inspiring words. She takes the time to expand on the commentary, she doesn't just throw it out there. You walk away feeling like you had a really good, thorough Bible study. Filling yourself on God's word for 40 days is an awesome responsibility as well as a great time bathing in His word!

“I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and letter life than they ever dreamed of.” “Prosperity comes from within. You were created to enjoy prosperity on every level – from a rich spiritual and intellectual life, to richness in your relationships and professional pursuits! The problem is that prosperity has often been reduced to a single measure: A dollar amount. Truth is, financial abundance is just one expression of what it means to live a rich life.”

I wondered when I asked to review this book if it was going to be another “do this and you’ll be rich… prosperity gospel” book. Oh how wrong I was. This book by Dr. Cindy Trimm is amazing! It truly spoke to my heart.

This book, The Prosperous Soul, is meant to be read, and studied, over 40 days; focusing on the areas of: Spiritual, Intellectual, Emotional, Physical, Relational, Social, Vocational and lastly Financial Prosperity. But I couldn’t hold on to the next day to read the wisdom that so packs the pages of this book such as “You can only become the best version of yourself – you will never be the best version of someone else. You can only win the race God has set before you by being the very best possible you.” (Page 45).

This book is not only a must read… it is a must read again, and then again to study and apply its wisdom.

Review Title: Wisdom Instruction / Daily Delight (review of The Prosperous Soul by Cindy Trimm)

I highly recommend this newest offering from Dr. Cindy Trimm. Her writing keeps people at all levels engaged and inspired. She is down to earth and also heavenly minded. I loved everything about this book, except possibly the title, only because of the use of the word prosperous which has a negative meaning in the minds of some who associate it with the prosperity gospel, This book is definitely not to be confused with that kind of gimmicky name it and claim it mentality. This book shows the reader gateways into living life based on sound wisdom so that the total person, all aspects including the soul, thrives.

I have plans to share this book with a friend with whom I did a previous study of the 40 Days to a Joy-Filled Life by Tommy Newberry. We loved that book, and I found this book to be similar in inspiration and motivation, Dr. Trimm included a quote from Tommy Newberry so I knew I had a winning book when I saw that. If you need a book to help pump you up to make positive life changes, this is that kind of book.

Since my husband owns a tax prep/accounting business, I will recommend to him that this book would make a great giveaway to year round clients. I can see this book being utilized by businesses for that purpose. Wise clients are more likely to remain clients as their businesses thrive.

I thank bookfun.org for giving me this book in exchange for reading it and posting an honest review. I previously read another book by Dr. Trimm, Push, and it was wonderful, too. That review is posted in case you would like to see another opportunity to learn from this teacher of wisdom who has a tremendous heart for the public she serves.

“Real wealth is gained when we use our temporal means to restore lives to the Kingdom of God and glorify God in the Process.”
Cindy Trimm’s book is organized to be either a group or individual eight-week study of the Christian’s journey to a richer life. This empowerment specialist’s book gives guidance and understanding in the areas of: Spiritual, Intellectual, Emotional, Physical, Relational, Social, Vocational, and Financial Prosperity. There are five lessons in each section revealing forty principles and practices for a more prosperous life.
The emphasis is on the prosperity of our soul and of God’s Kingdom, not just on material possessions or wealth. “You can discover keys to amazing breakthroughs simply by seeing things a little differently.”
This book offers a fresh look at prosperity. Every Christian could benefit by reading this book to refocus on the things that matter and bring spiritual growth. I was given this book for my honest review.

I liked Trimm's book because her book is mostly about the foundation of prosperity. It is not about accumulating stuff. It is about character. She starts out laying the foundation of grace, Bible reading, prayer, etc. That is the foundation to a really prosperous soul. The book is full of good suggestions for having every every of life be prosperous, again, not in stuff but in character. The result is joy, a serving heart, things like that.
