A very handy book for new parents. I will revisit the chapters for each month as we are approaching just to refresh my memory as in one reading I could not just memorise everything. I would recommend it to anyone facing the challenge of the first year with their kid.
Not-to-miss introduction to parenthood and all practical and health-and-safety aspects pertaining to it. The book has some lengthy and redundant passages for the ultimate baby noobs, but you can skip over a lot of them in case you want to save some time. The lists of tips are of great benefit. It also teaches how the baby develops motorically, cognitively and verbally, from month one to twelve. Much recommended!
Some useful info, but parts of the book are old-fashioned, unnecessary and sexist. The entire book is written for Mums, as if they were the only ones likely to care about their baby enough to read a book about it. As a dad, I found this very annoying.
Important book for all new parents 😁
2.5 ster.
I read the original and Dutch translated version and have to say the translation is too meticulous in a wrong way - too faithful to the original and therefore contains irrelevant information from my point of view (culturally different approaches/way of thinking). It is a nice book to get you started about some basics and get you thinking, but essentially after reading the book I still had many more questions than answers. My suggestion, compile a list and make a phonecall to your own parents or friends who are also parents.
This is my favorite baby book. It is concise, extensive and has no ridiculous “frills” like other ones. I buy this for all my best friends who become new moms.
