Stone Family #1

Under One Roof

Rate this book
She’s sunshine and cute chaos. I’m her new boss.

As a firefighter and former Navy SEAL, rescuing civilians is part of the job, but when I helped a soaking wet slip of a woman in short shorts and cowboy boots with her broken down Jeep, I didn’t think I was getting a sneak peek at my new nanny.

I’m a single dad who thrives on keeping a structured routine for my kids. Yet Andi Halton blows all of that out of the water, armed with a sticker-covered guitar and wild ideas about relaxing that schedule.

What’s worse is I can’t stop thinking about how good she looks doing yoga in my living room. Or how plump her lips are and how they might feel pressed against mine. Keeping my hands off of her is harder than surviving Hell Week—because every moment spent with her ignites a yearning I didn’t think I could feel again.

Under One Roof is the first book in a steamy new family saga romance series with a grumpy single dad and the woman he never saw coming.

This book totally surprised me because at first, I was so sure it was gonna be 2 stars max when the FMC was apparently in love and we already had maybe 3 pop-culture references by page 9. But this is why I always hold off on DNFing until 50% because this turned out to be quite the treat. 🤭

Andi is a dreamer. Someone who's able to have childish energy but also a mature understanding of feelings and complicated situations. She’s a lover and fighter for people that matter to her and she sure shows her adoration for her chosen family in this story. Speaking of chosen family… DADDY GRIFFIN!! 🤤 The way he immediately jumped in to always help Andi no matter the situation and open up his home and himself to her was beautiful. We love a man that respects boundaries and his patients and kindness to her is refreshing to see in a steamy romance book.

The children were a cute addition to the story and I found them to be charming rather than a nuisance to read about. The way they grew to love Andi as their mother is adorable and I definitely have to pick up more nanny romances soon. The found family is so well formed and developed in this.

“Thanks for letting me tag along.”
“You’re not tagging along. You’re one of us now.” 💗

Andi and Griff are perfect together! Despite the age difference they match each other in maturity and balance out as a couple. Andi pushes Griffin to be more open with his kids and Griffin pushes Andi to be more open with herself and her wants (also bonus points because he pushes her to meet her protein goals). Overall the divorce chances are slim to none and that's what seals the deal on something being a good romance in my opinion! Definitely recommend if this sounds like your type of read. It can be cringy at times and move a little fast at certain points but hey its a fun and sexy read that I definitely don’t regret spending time on.

Single dad x nanny is my Roman Empire it never lets me down (well… MOST of the time but still). This one was such a cute read it had all the cozy vibes like hot chocolate, fuzzy socks, fall candle energy. I was literally smiling like an idiot half the time.

Griffin aka firefighter daddy. He was so perfectly sweet the entire time I could scream. The PERFECT gentleman. The way he listens?? The way he pays attention?? The way he was ready to do ANYTHING to make it work with her?? I love him he’s so stable like sir please calm down you’re making my standards worse.

And Andi oh my god she was adorable she felt so real and I loved that. Her with the kids🥹My heart. I’ll be honest I thought the kids were brats at first but nooo they’re actually so cute they grew on me instantly. They were such a vibe together all four of them I was like yes be a family immediately.

Overall this book was just SWEET literally sweet it felt like warm sugar in my chest. And the fact that it doesn’t have a third act breakup??? A WIN . A blessing. A gift from the romance gods.

We have an age gap that is PERFECT to me and the chemistry🙂‍↕️ oh they were giving everything they needed to give. Soft tension, cute moments, flirty banter I ate it up so fast.

This was just the coziest, cutest single dad romance I’ve read in a while and I’m absolutely counting it as comfort reading.

I loved the bones of this book. Give me an age gap romance anytime and I’m all in on reading the story.

What I don’t enjoy is insta lust. Especially when the 1) the MMC is a single father MUCH older than our FMC and 2) when the first chapter from the MMC POV starts out sexually explicit.

I’m all for sparks and attraction, but I need plot > penis.

I wanted more from Griffin.
I felt like Andi did 85% of the heavy lifting in their relationship.

There’s potential here but for me, it didn’t pan out the way I hoped for my personal reading preferences.

Thank you to the author for the e-ARC.

This is my first Sophie Andrews book, but she’s got a new fan! I absolutely loved her writing style. It was so easy to read and kept my attention throughout. One of the aspects I enjoyed most is her character development. The progression of Andi and Griffin’s love story was perfectly paced. It was hard not to fall in love with these fun but flawed, relatable characters. They made each other better just by being together.

Andi fit into the Stone family like she was meant to be there all along. It had that found family vibe that just speaks to my soul. Family isn’t always blood. The emotional connection Andi shared with not only Griffin but his twins was so special. This book is the perfect mixture of fun and emotional. It’ll give you all the feels! ♥️

It’s full of everything I look for in a contemporary romance… witty banter, palpable tension, and all the heartwarming moments that put a smile on your face while reading. Not to mention the spice… woo buddy, that spice! Griffin’s praise was HOT. 🥵🔥 Yes, sir Captain Stone!

• Fire Captain & Former Navy SEAL
• Single Dad (of twins!) x Nanny
• Found Family
• Small Town
• Love After Loss / PTSD
• Teach Me Sex / Praise
• Age Gap (he’s 42 & she’s 28)

Under One Roof is a series starter, and I can’t wait for the next book!

Andi & Griffin. Nanny and the firefighter captain.
The story starts with damsel in distress vibes.
Griff is 100% protective, sweet and caring, considerate and patient. I found their first get-together beautiful and realistic and it’s something I miss in most romances. That and other little things that normal people do, like hair-wash days (I really connected with that 😜).
But, for someone so disciplined and supposedly grumpy, it seemed weird that he failed to restrain his attraction.
Andi was sweet too but I didn’t like that she didn’t even try to be professional. Everything felt a bit rushed and I would have liked it better if it had taken a while to develop feelings.

There was no angst and I didn’t like how quickly some big decisions for the future were made off-page.

Nevertheless, it’s a well written book.

-Dual 1st person POV
-Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5

Overall: 3.5/5 ⭐️ for me.

A big thank you to Sophie Andrew’s for this arc!

4.5 - Thank you so much to the author Sophie Andrews for an advance copy of this book!

This book will be out on May 1st.

That's tough talk for someone who was born in the Keebler Elf tree."
"Yeah, I was born sweet."
"I'll bet."

Once again Sophie Andrews has done it again! In her promotion for this book she would mention that the MMC has the vibes of Captain von Trapp from the Sound of Music and I have never seen the movie but now I am tempted to!

I really love the meet cute between Griffin and Andi. Andi just was not having the best of luck lately in anything. She had no job, far from her family, driving from West Coast to East Coast when her car breaks down and the gentlemen Griffin stops to help her out. But not only does he help getting her a place to stay but pays for her lodging as well as pay majority of her car bill (also shout out to a Dylan cameo).

Andi was such a fun FMC! Probably one of my favorites FMCs that Andrews has written. She was determined, independent, funny and just charismatic. And then on the other hand you have Griffin who is a little bit grumpy, has routine, family man and is just totally smitten by Andi. He hasn't allowed himself to fall for anyone in awhile but there was something about Andi that drew him in. And as luck would have it, she applied to be the nanny of his twins. I absolutely loved the relationship the kids have with Andi!! It was a little rocky at start with some twin shenanigans but they eventually smooth things out and had a great relationship.

"You've ruined me."
"Good."

It is no surprise that one of my favorite scene is everyone at the firehouse fundraiser. The way that Andi seamless just fit in with his family. And I thought it was so genius of Andrews having this moment between Andi & Griffin that in theory should not be sexy but who knew doing an ice bath competition would be so DAMN SEXY!

As I have mentioned on other books I've read by Andrews, her spice is *chef's kiss*. The way that she creates her characters chemistry and the conversation around sex. Griffin was super considerate of how nervous Andi was and she expressed her inexperience in the bedroom.

I just love the way that Andrews writes and how relatable her characters feel. I also love that you don't necessarily have to suspend belief in this book (or in her other books). I just really loved the relationship that Griffin and Andi had. They communicated effectively and Griffin in the end just wanted what was best for Andi and her dreams. But Andi also knew what was best in her heart and where she wanted to be.

The way that the book ends sets up for the next one and I'm super excited to read Taryn and Dante's story (at least I'm assuming that is who is next).

If you are a fan of insta love, found family, single daddy x nanny - give this one a read!

We meet our girl, Andi, stuck on the side of the road in a broken down jeep. She’s on the struggle bus. Her confidence is shot, she just lost her job and she’s kind of drifting when she drifts right into Griffin’s orbit. Ever the hero, Griffin stops to help a broken down car and as soon as he spots Andi in her short shorts and soaking wet in the rain he is smitten hard. He helps her out of this tough spot, gets her jeep towed to a mechanic and drops her off at a B&B that his sister runs so she can be safe until she figures her life out a bit. She is exploring the town, it’s adorable and she thinks she might stay, she meets a sweet couple who own a store and they suggest she applies for a nanny position for a dad that they know. Spoiler alert, the dad is Griffin and his 10 yr old twins are a bit naughty and keep driving off their nannies in an effort to get their dad to spend more time with them. This whole story is very sound of music coded and I LOVED that about it. Our captain is gruff but a total sweetheart and begins to see the tiny bit of organized chaos that Andi brings to their life just makes the whole thing so much sweeter.

Every time I read a Sophie Andrews story I think that MMC is my favourite and this time is no different. Griffin is just top notch human being material. Green flags all around, even when he’s in his ‘feelings don’t exist’ phase in the beginning. I loved Andi, who was capable and fun, even when she was in her head a bit from the way her last job ended as well as the way she was raised. This was such a comfort read. I always feel like the characters in these books are a love letter to the reader. I will always recommend anything Sophie writes, this one is no different and an absolute win.

I received an advance copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Another single dad age gap because that's all I decided May needed to be about.
I just have to say, that I love how Andi changed this family for the better. Not just Griffin, but the twins too, were all just going about the day to day, surviving. Not really living. And then one return prank to the twins, changed it all. You could tell, even thru her nervousness with being a nanny and around kids, at the core she was very motherly and had the maternal instincts. She loved the twins and just wanted to make headway with them while helping bridge the gap between them and their dad. She wanted everyone to be able to see from the others' view and understand and just be able to be a family that enjoyed each other. She was such an independent, charismatic lead. As a songwriter she felt everything more deeply.
Griffin. This man. Whew. He was definitely a planner. Rigid, set in stone, everything has to be done a certain way kind of dad and yes, that stemmed from being a SEAL and then going into the first responder lifestyle upon coming home. And I was so glad to see him slowly have his walls and routine and everything blown to pieces because of this girl that waltzed into his life in the most whirlwinds of whirlwinds. From chapter one, and meeting Andi, we got to see him chapter by chapter heal his relationship with his kids that he didn't necessarily know was broken and he got to build this family. He got to feel what true happiness was and I loved it. I loved watching Andi get under his skin one tiny thing at a time. I knew tho at the beginning, when he pays for most of Andi's car troubles and her lodging at the inn, even though he came off as grumpiest of grumpies...he was going to have the most gooey insides lol (I would have liked to see more of him at the fire house and in his job BUT THAT'S JUST ME AND NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WAY SOPHIE WROTE THE BOOK HER CHARACTERS TOLD HER TO WRITE)
These two had the banter. "Keebler Elf tree" was just one of the many times I snort laughed. The way Andi slowly did things to make Griff's house a home. Succulents. Rugs. Pictures (I mean who doesn't have pictures in their house?!) And the moments involving Griff's mom. That picture moment alone had me giving the heart eyes. And Griff talking about how she'd always send her favorite poetry lines while he was in the military. I love that Griffin made Andi feel safe enough to talk about why she was the way she was about sex and her shit family. I felt with her there because the birth parents of mine were exactly the same way. Andi was definitely behind the scenes making sure everyone got lifted up and supported. She played basketball with Logan and helped out in the crush department (I never knew I could hate a fictional 11 year old, but I deff have massive beef with Valentina.) And she pushed Grace to go out of her comfort zone and made it clear that she was doing it for herself and not for others. She seamlessly fit right into Griff's family and life.
I love that the relationship between everyone, not just Griff and Andi as main characters, but Griff with his kids and Andi with the kids...and even Logan and Grace as siblings...all of the relationships were natural and grew and when the time came for Andi to get what she had been working for for her entire musical career, all three of them made sure she went and chased that dream. Even if all three of them hated it immensely.
Thank you Sophie Andrews for writing this book and making it all so relatable. I'm a fan and you've been added to the auto authors list. They were all wholesome and I'm anxiously going to await Taryn's story.

📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.

---

Let's see, I liked the book, but knowing the author's previous works, I was expecting a little more. The story of Andi and Griffin started out in a way that really grabbed me, but then it was like, well... okay, the romance was good, the chemistry of Griffin's kids with Andi was nice, but Griffin as a character didn't really click for me, like I said, I think I had a lot of expectations with this book and well, it played tricks on me, but I enjoyed it and had a good time reading it.

I loved this book! Under One Roof is the perfect mix of cute, funny, and emotional. Sophie Andrews totally nailed the forced proximity vibe — the banter, the tension, the little moments that make you smile like an idiot. She crafts characters who are flawed, funny, and easy to root for. It’s cozy and heartwarming. If you’re looking for a romance that’ll give you all the feels without being too heavy, this one’s for you.

Griff is.... think of Captain Von Trapp 🤭
and Andi is very much like Mariaaaaaa with her music and nannying the twins who love pranks.

I'm so excited for the rest of this series 🥰🥰

Under One Roof is Andi and Griffin’s story.

When down on her luck, song writer, Andy, finds herself stranded on the side of the road, she’s rescued by grumpy firefighter, Griffin Stone.

It took one look, one encounter for Griffin and Andi to feel an instant connection. But Andi is just passing through and Griffin has too much on his plate to ever consider dating again. Until fate intervenes and Griffin hires Andi as his new live in nanny.

I loved the Van Trapp vibes I was getting from Griffin and the twins. They lived such an orderly life, full of routine and schedules but low on joy and spontaneity until Andi came in and gave them back that little bit of magic and fun.

The pranks, the banter and the friendship that blooms between the kids and Andi was one of the highlight of the book. It was such a good bonding experience and it was so sweet to watch both Andi and the twins accept each other so easily as family.

Andi and Griffin’s story is full of pining. Full of will-they, wont-they vibes and their romance was a slow burn with a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I loved Griffin’s protectiveness, he was such a giver and exactly what Andi needed. And Andi was just what Griffin and his family needed too.

Overall a good comfy read, low on drama and angst and with just the right amount of romance, found family vibes and an heroine following her dreams and a Hero supporting her 100%.

Favorite Bits:
🖤 The twins. They were mini Griffins until they let their guard down.
🖤 The slow burn.
🖤 The mutual pining.

* SERIES: Stone Family, Book 1 - this is book one in the Stone Family Series, can’t wait for book two I have a feeling I will love Taryn and her story!
* POV: First Person Dual - I loved every single character in this! From our two main characters and their love story to Griffin’s children and how Andi finds her home with them! It was perfect! I absolutely adore the small town and its residents and Griffin’s siblings!
* SPICE - Open Door, Explicit - So freaking spicy 🔥🔥🔥 and Griffin is such an attentive, patient lover! I love his “Attagirl” and praise!

THOUGHTS -
Sophie’s writing style is so easy to read, I was hooked from the begging and literally flew through this book, it was so much fun! I loved the progression of Andi and Griffin’s love story but I think most of all I loved how she just fit into their family, the kids loved her and it gave them all that something that had been missing from their lives. I am so interested in his youngest brother Roman, I hope he gets his own story! This was such a cute, heartwarming story! I will definitely be reading more by Sophie!

I really love opening a new Sophie book. She just knows how to deliver a witty, heartwarming, steamy, and relatable story that is a joy to read. This is the start of a new series and I loved how it’s been set up with the Stone siblings. While this book focused on Griffin and Andi’s story, we are introduced to side characters you can’t help but fall in love with and become very intrigued by.

Griffin and Andi’s story is a delightfully low angst, easy read which I really enjoyed! Single dad x nanny is one of my all time faves to read so I was EXCITED knowing Sophie writes single dad SO well. They’re always relatable and have me nodding along with plenty of giggles. I adored both of these characters and was completely invested in them, their connection and their story right from the beginning.

And now here’s a list of things to further convince you…
⊹ their meeting, then re-meet was so good.
⊹ the forced proximity their situation provided.
⊹ the insta attraction was done so well here.
⊹ griff is a major green flag.. with a dirty mouth.
⊹ his instant protective instincts with her.
⊹ the banter. sophie always delivers on this!
⊹ the tension? holy. i was hanging for it to snap.
⊹ the spice is perfection, these two were so good together.
⊹ the relatable parenting moments.
⊹ the home alone, parent trap level pranks the twins played.
⊹ the super warm + fuzzy found family vibes.
⊹ so excited for the next stone sibling + to see where Sophie takes this series!

This was a pretty cute modern day retelling of The Sound of Music just with less kids and taking place in Pennsylvania as opposed to Austria. And also no nuns or Nazis. Andi is a down on her luck aspiring song writer and Griffin is a former navy seal turned fire captain and a single dad in need of a nanny for his 10 yo twins. There's a pretty sizable age gap, she's 28 and he's 42, and she's got some serious hangups about sex due to her toxic family and a past bad relationship. And while he's no Captain Von Trapp (not the real one, the fictional one immortalized by Christopher Plummer), the sex is steamy, the romance is cute and I liked watching these characters become a family. I'm hoping his siblings all get a romance, given the name of the series and if the end teaser is right, I'm real eager for the sister's book.

ARC from publisher, review is all mine.

Content notes: FMC has a really toxic family and experienced verbal and emotional abuse from her parents; toxic former boss;

Sophie was the one who made me fall in love with single dad trope and now she does it again.

Griffin aka Captain Stone, is the hot single dad, a firefighter (!!) who happened to help Andi when her car broke down. Long story short, they met again but this time Andi was applying to be a nanny for Griffin's twins. I knoww they've felt something since the very beginning so I'd say it was instant love?? I mean, who wouldn't fall for hot firefighter rescuing you in the middle of the rain 😏 They tried so hard to fight their feelings and boom— no more fighting.

The book has less drama, more hot scenes, and like I said, it's fast paced but in a good way (I've read a fast paced book but it was too fast it didn't make sense, you know?)

Thank you so much Sophie for the ARC! I can't wait for the world to read the book in May 1st 😍😍

Under One Roof is a cozy, under-300-page romance featuring a heartwarming forced proximity setup between a single dad and an unexpected nanny. After losing her job, Andi literally drives away from her problems, hoping to reach the ocean—but instead winds up in the charming town of West Chester, PA. There, she's quickly embraced by a tight-knit community, including a lingerie shop duo and the local B&B owner, who connect her with Griffin “Cap,” a single dad in urgent need of help.

What starts as a temporary arrangement turns into something deeper as Griff and Andi struggle with their growing attraction, all while juggling kids, a surprise visit from Griff’s ex, and big decisions about the future. With humor, heart, and heat, Under One Roof delivers a binge-worthy story about second chances, small-town charm, and finding home where you least expect it.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Griffin and Andi’s story.
Griffin is a firefighter, former Navy Seal, and single dad to his 10-year-old twins, and Andi runs from a situation and ends up stranded when her jeep breaks down. Griffin comes to Andi’s aid, not knowing that she will be his twins’ new nanny. Andi is quick to call out Logan and Grace’s antics, and a beautiful bond develops between them.
This is a well written easy to read story, with found family, friendships, emotions, antics, an age gap, grumpy / sunshine, forced proximity, opposites attract, tension, challenges, palpable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, small-town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I love a protective single dad with a free spirit nanny. Andi breaks down outside of town and fire captain Griffin, comes to her rescue. Their attraction is instant. The next day, Andi learns of a family that needs a nanny, to her surprise, it's Griffin. He's a single dad to twins, Grace and Logan. Andi fits right in with their family and becomes more than the nanny. When her best friend back in LA gets a record deal, she asks Andi to come back and help write more songs. Griffin doesn't want to hold her back from her dreams, so she goes. She soon realizes how much she misses her family and goes back to Pennsylvania.
I loved that it is set in the same town as her other series and we saw some characters from them.

OMG, this book was so adorable! It was my very first read by Sophie and I’m officially a fan.
Andi and Griff? Absolutely perfect together! From their very first meeting, you could just feel they were meant to be — no unnecessary drama, no exhausting push and pull 🙌🏼 (thank goodness!).

One of my favorite parts? The twins 🥹. They were such a sweet addition, and I loved that the story took time to show Andi building a real connection with them. It made everything feel so wholesome and genuine.

The story flowed beautifully — the emotions, the chemistry, all of it just hit right. And the cherry on top? NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP 🎉. Yes, you read that right. No drama-for-the-sake-of-drama nonsense. Just pure, heartwarming romance. I will forever stand by the microtrope that breakups aren’t needed to make a love story great 💖.

If you're in the mood for a feel-good, low-angst, heart-melting romance with some spice and lots of love — this one’s for you 💫.

When I tell you I devoured this book so fast. Has a lot of the tropes i love.
-Age gap
-Firefighter
-Single dad
-Nanny
Need I say more? Yes? Ok!
GRIFFIN FUCKING STONE SAYING GOOD GIRL OR ATTA FUCKING GIRL!
I rest my case.

Here you meet Andi. Just a woman who is going through it. Her car breaks down and who is here to save her? Fucking Capitan Stone. This man pulls over because her car breaks down and she was drenched from the rain. He takes a look at her car, calls a fucking tow for her and then drives her to a Bed and Breakfast where he pays for her room!

Not wanting to ho home to her horrible family she meets some nice couple who vouch for her for this guy needing a Nanny for his kids. Lo and behold its Griffin Stone. The man who saved her, aks the man she dreams about.

She gets hired and boom! Instinct chemistry between the two! You just have to give it a read to find out the rest. Holy shit I loved it.

Captain von Trapp vibes you say? Well say less!! This was everything! I was hooked from the beginning. Strangers to nanny to lovers - tension with a mild burn they both want it and come close but ultimately each time he reminds himself that it’s the nanny! Walls need to be broken down, no third act break up and once the tension is broken he’s less strict but still has his captain hat on! 😉

Also, I love when the kids are their own characters and not just props, I felt like I knew the kids and enjoyed when they had 1 on 1 time with either of the main characters.

Andi and Griff were in love from the get go and never looked back I really liked their relationship and the one she grew with the kids 😍

Sophie Andrews does it again! She is an auto-bit author for me and Under One Roof proves why her again. Full of heart, tenderness and spice, Andrews gives us two main characters who are clear on who they are and what they want. I appreciated that the over-used miscommunication trope wasn’t used here. Instead, we have two adults being clear about what they need and want. Loved this book and can’t wait to keep reading about the Stone family siblings.

this is my favorite sophie andrews book to date!!! griffin & andi's love story was so sweet. i loved seeing andi learn to love herself & forgive herself through Griffin's love. and oh man did that man love her. some of the swooniest sentences i've ever read came from this man's mind. the kids were so funny & i loved watching them warm up to a mother figure. overall an incredible book!!! highly recommend 💕

thank you to Sophie Andrews for the ARC of this book!!!!

Sophie Andrews is a new-to-me-author and I’m glad I signed up for this ARC because I seriously fell in love with this book, and I can’t wait to read more from her!

I had a great time reading this book. I enjoyed everything about Andi and Captain Stone’s love story, and their first time? Oh my, it was so beautiful, sweet and realistic. And then there is the thing Andi does for Griffin and his siblings that got me all emotional. No seriously, you have to read this book!

«You’re the stuff movies are made of.» Funny for you to say that Andi, especially when I started a 9-1-1 rewatch just a couple of hours before I received this ARC. But you aren’t wrong, girl! Although, I don’t think Andi and I could ever be friends. I mean, she’s team Logan and she dogear her books! THE HORROR AND THE AUDACITY!! But then again Sophie Andrews is team Pacey, so I guess all is right in the world.

Quote:

«Whoever said sticks and stones can break bones but words can never hurt was wrong. Words can do more than hurt. They can build up religions, tear down governments, speak truth to power, and break a young girl’s heart

Thanks to the author for sending me an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
