When the Captain suggests that Doreen might want to break her boredom spell by looking into an old case, she jumps at the chance. Anything new is always great, and anything that the Captain gives her means she has his permission—which gives her a lot of leeway in getting the information she needs.
However, when she realizes the case is about the long-forgotten and unidentified bones of a baby, … she knows this case will hurt in so many ways. Still, the thought of this case remaining unsolved for so many years makes her all that more determined to solve it.
However, the more digging she does, the more people try to clamp down on talking to her, as she learns that family members of that little girl are still alive. No one is willing to talk, except one—who dies the morning after …
When her case dovetails with another case and an old big-business local family, the gloves are off, and Doreen wades into the mix as always …

Doreen, restless and eager for a challenge, jumps at the opportunity when the Captain suggests she investigate an old case. But what starts as a curiosity quickly turns into something far more emotional—the unidentified remains of a baby, long forgotten and unsolved. Determined to uncover the truth, Doreen pushes forward, only to find resistance at every turn. As she digs deeper, she discovers that the child’s surviving family members are still around, but no one wants to talk—except for one person, who mysteriously dies the next day. When her investigation intertwines with another case involving a powerful local family, Doreen refuses to back down, throwing herself into the mystery with her usual tenacity.
I loved this story, which seamlessly blended intrigue, emotional depth, and relentless determination. Doreen kept on digging into the mystery with her usual lack of self-preservation. What she found was something far bigger than she expected, and threats did not deter her from finding out the truth in everything, insisting that her trusty animals would protect her! Easy to read and get caught up in the mystery and clues as she uncovered them.

Doreen is invited to work with another cold case, a cold case involving a box of bones found in the garden. No name, faint timeline, a challenge for even Doreen and Mack and her protectors. Family and friends, for better and for worse. Still a page turner at its best.

I will never tire of Doreen and her crazy antics, this book can be read as a standalone but the whole series is so delightful it would be a shame to miss out on Doreen's progress. Doreen Montgomery is divorced from her abusive, controlling, and now late, husband and is living in a house in Kelowna given to her by her beloved Nan. Newly engaged to Corporal Mack Moreau of the Kelowna PD, Doreen has found a huge talent for solving cold case murders and has made quite a name for herself. When Mack's Captain asked for Doreen's help in solving a cold case Doreen was thrilled but not so much when she found that the case involved the long forgotten bones of a child, she knew that this could cause a lot of distress but little did she know the can of worms that she was about to open. Doreen sets off with her usual zeal, pushing people for information, making both friends and enemies along the way, fearlessly poking people with a lot of money and power. I love Doreen's deputies, i.e Nan and her cohorts at the Rosemoor Nursing Home, being in on the action has given them all a new lease of life. I love Doreen's menagerie, Mugs the dog, Goliath the cat and Thaddaeus the talking parrot who are also on hand when needed and I love long suffering Mack, who has taught Doreen how to live in the real world outside the gilded cage that she was used to and is eager to set a date for the wedding, but knows that Doreen won't be pushed. Another wonderful, cosy mystery with angst from Dale Mayer.

Yipped in Yams by Dale Mayer Lovely Lethal Gardens Rewind Book Two
The captain has asked Doreen to work on a cold case. It’s a sad one, though. The bones of a child that were found buried in a garden thirty-five years ago. No name. No idea who she is. They only know it was a little girl around eighteen months old.
Mack is busy with a court case, so Doreen is left to handle this cold case alone. Well, maybe not alone. She does have Doreen’s Deputies at Rosemoor. Meanwhile, Doreen still has the wedding plans to think of. She’s not in a hurry since she hasn’t been widowed that long, but her nan, Millicent, and the Rosemoor gang want to be alive yet, so, since they aren’t getting any younger, they are anxious for her to set the date.
I love visiting with Doreen, Mugs, Goliath, Thaddeus, and all the other unique characters in this series. They always keep me turning the pages from beginning to end. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
I really enjoyed reading Yipped in the Yams .this is book two in the Lovely Lethal Gardens Rewind series . This series is just as fantastic as the first series . Doreen and her feather and fur family find themselves working a cold case for the Captain many years ago skeletal bones of a baby were found in a garden but unfortunately the case was never solved . He is hoping Doreen and her crime solving skills will solve the case . Doreen dives right in working to get some answers . Doreen's Deputy's (Nan's group of friends at Rosemoor ) are anxious to help . As Doreen works to get answers , things come to light and Doreen and Mack find themselves in danger . This story is interesting and entertaining and I find it delightful . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Doreen has barely finished her last cold case before she gets the next one. Unexpectedly, it comes from Mac' s police captain boss. An eighteen-month girl's bones were discovered buried in a garden 35 years ago. Her bones are still being held at the coroner's office because she sadly has not been identified. Doreen won't rest until she gets answers to the girl's name and on what happened to her. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I'm hooked on this series. I enjoy watching Doreen work her magic in getting answers by talking to people and asking lots of questions. She is like a terrier and won't give up. I also love her relationship with Mac, her grandmother, and her pets. This is a good cozy series.
We join Doreen and her pets muggs, goliath, and Thaddeus as they dive into a dark mystery that involves a eighteen month old baby who's bones were found in a patch were the owner was getting ready to plant yams. And the bones have been in a box at the coroners office for over thirty five years. It breaks Doreen heart for that baby girl who died from abuse which makes it murder. There are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted til the very last page with Mack tied up in court Doreen goes to talk to the Chief and ask some questions. Will Doreen be able to solve a case everyone thought would never be solved.Doreen didn't want to let the Chief down since he asked her to look into it.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented authof.
I smiled gleefully when I started this one and quite honestly that smile stayed throughout. Mack and Doreen are just fabulous together along with the 3 animals. The Captain really helped and supported her when she needed it. Twisted and convoluted plot that somehow Doreen's initiation and mind managed to work out and weedle far more information than expected in her unique way. New friends made and a relatively happy detective unit at the end, despite the extra paperwork. This was definitely a case that had to be solved and she did so in spectacular fashion. Rubs hands together impatiently for the next book in this series, I just can't get enough.🤗💜📚
Doreen and her menagerie are at it again. This time the captain had reached out with a very cold case for her to try and solve. This was a sad case with some tiny bones and she is determined to give this child a name. It would seem that she is digging into some powerful people who would think nothing of crushing her like a bug. Doreen digs in with her usual zest, badgering people with her questions as she moves closer and closer to answers. Mack is rather busy as is nan and her cronies, though lovely to hear about them all it's Doreen with a major role in this story. Great mystery, I couldn't put my kindle down.
I'm here for all the cozy small town mystery vibes. I adore Doreen and her fur babies and Nan and the gang and love the romance between Doreen and Mack her fiancee. The mystery is pretty twisted and sad and there were a part that got me a bit teary, so even though lots of meandering and repetitive and lots of convenience I still enjoy it, again I'm here for the vibes. My fav is definitely when Mugs, Goliath and Thadeus in action, these adorable creatures always put a big smile on my face and this time Mack is there as a team, love this duo amateur detective and real detective. Overall it's a fun entertaining read.
Wow! Way to keep us in suspense Dale! This was a bit of a sad cold case since it involved a toddler. Doreen was thrilled to have another cold case and have the captain even give it to her. Mack was not present most of the time because of the trial that he had to be at from another cold case Doreen solved. It was interesting how Doreen was able to piece all of this case together and actually solved four or five murders in one case. Surprised Doreen didn't call her Nan to tell her the case was solved. Now on to the next case. Can't wait for this book to come out. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would highly recommend this book!
In this new series "Lovely Lethal Gardens Rewind" Doreen and her pets are at it again and you can't help but totally enjoy it. She is engaged now and her story continues to entertain. Her love of solving old cases, sometimes involved with new cases, is ongoing. She often puts herself in danger which can frustrate her fiance Mack and now Mack's Captain is asking for her help. She and her pets along with her grandmother Nan and her buddies are a perfect blend for great reading.

The Captain gives Doreen a cold case of an 18-month-old baby whose bones were found. Dorreen digs deep and manages to uncover so many murders and complicated family relationships; the threat is real this family has killed 4 people with induced heart attacks and Doreen raises suspicion about the cause of death for each 4 of the murders and uncovers a malicious abusive family behind all of this, some moments where your heart is in your mouth as you wait to see if all this is uncovered and they are punished. WOW GREAT READ, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was an interesting cold case. Doreen's investigation seemed more interesting and she didn't seem quite as intrusive as she was in previous cases. I also liked that she actively got to work with the police instead of her cold case just coincidentally being part of Mac's current case.
There were also some sadder moments thinking about people reaching the later stages of life, how they cope, and their regrets. Doreen's animals were enjoyable as usual.
This was enjoyable and O am looking forward to the next rewind.
Another gripping page turner involving another cold case for Doreen. Although, this one is a little different because the Captain has given it to her, so it should be a lot easier for her to get information when she needs it. But, she needs to tread carefully with this case and before you know it there is a fresh case to solve as well. Will Doreen and Mack be able to solve both cases and bring the killer to justice? If you enjoy cozy mysteries, with animals and a bit of romance thrown in for good measure. Then you will love this series 🥰.
I have read every book in the Lovely Lethal Gardens original series and have started on this rewind series. I love the mystery and the relationships in this series. It is very entertaining and parts are laugh out loud hilarious. I wish there were more series like this one. I have found a few series that are good, but this one is one of my favorites.
(4.5) Doreen is working another cold case, courtesy of the Captain. Mugs (dog)Thaddeus (bird) and Goliath(cat)are her trusty companions as she delves into the mystery that provides few clues. Her grandmother and her cohorts are ready to assist. I love the fact that besides there being twists and turns in the mystery is that I am always learning or relearning things. Watching Doreens' relationship with Mack grow and evolve is the icing on the cake. It was a perfect read on my rainy day. Thank you for the advanced copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #YippedintheYams #LovelyLethalGardensRewind #DaleMayer #ValleyPublishing #Booksprout
This is a wonderful cozy mystery that had me eager for answers and working the case right along with Doreen, her menagerie, Mack and Nan. While there is plenty of humor and twists, this case also does a job on your emotions and tugs hard at your heartstrings because of the mystery that is being solved is so tragic.
This was a good cold case you really want Doreen, Mack et el to solve and you know the captain does as well as he asked for Doreen's help and shows her knack for solving crimes is wanted. Enjoyable read with some good twists and has you trying to work it out along with Doreen.

This is the second book in the Lovely Lethal Gardens Rewind series, it can be read as a standalone story but best read as a whole group.
Doreen and her menagerie of animals has been given a cold case by the Captain, she can't help but be excited and hopeful. As she gathers evidence of the what happened to the owner of the bones that was found, a deeper darker story comes to light. Wonderful story, love Doreen and Mack.
Mack and Doreen are by far my couple Ms. Mayer has made them so true to life that they feel like family members. I'm always on the edge of waiting for each installment. It's so fun to try to solve the case with Doreen. Bravo! Bravo!.

love, love this series!! I love how we can Listen to Doreen as she solves the cold case mysteries!! It’s like the author gives you all the puzzle pieces and you get to listen and watch how Doreen puts the puzzle together. She is very persistent in solving things. Love this series!!!
I still enjoy the setting and the characters—they’re what keep me coming back. But the formula of the storylines is starting to feel repetitive, and this one was especially hard to get into. The first few chapters kept rehashing the mystery’s premise in detail, again and again, which made it tough to stay engaged. It picks up eventually, but I’m hoping the next book shakes things up a bit.
Feels like we've read longer than we have about Doreen. Has it really been less than a year? So much has happened in her life since she moved to Kelowna. Oh my, I couldn't read fast enough to see what happens next!

These books can't come fast enough for me. I've loved them from the very first one. I haven't read anything like them. The animals make me laugh. I love the way Doreen has taken over the heart of the police department.
I just read an Amazon sample and boy did it hook me right away. I like Dale Mather to start with and the fact this was is set 2 hours from where I live makes it even more interesting. Its a murder mystery and a fun read. Do grab a copy.
A lot of twist and turns in this book. I figured out the murders were. I really enjoyed reading this book, I’m hoping there will be an audio version soon. I’m ready to read the next book!
This is a fun series, but this story was very sad. When bones of a toddler are find years ago. The Captain asks if Doreen would look into it. What follows is more deaths and Doreen is trying to find out what the baby's name is.
