Despite the old man, "Back in my day..." tone at the end of the book, the rest of it was enjoyable nostalgia. But the editor most have dozed off somewhere about 3/4 of the way through. He/she let a 'then for than' by an and instance of America for American and at least one other similar contextual error.

Fun reading from Old Reliable. Full of stories from his playing career from 1937-1950. He played with Lou Gehrig in his final seasons and with Joe DiMaggio for his entire career. Tommy missed three seasons due to WWII. He was the first “free agent” in April 1937 when granted as such from the Cleveland organization and signed with the Yankees.
