I always enjoy Daniel Hurst's books, they are quick reads and with easy to follow stories and some twists here and there and these were no exception. Popcorn thrillers when you need them. Luckily I had not yet read any of the 4 books contained within this box set and so have been fortunate enough to be approved to read them via NetGalley so Many thanks once again! I'm slowly working my way through his extensive back catalogue.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

Daniel Hurst's collection of psychological thrillers (more a collection of novels rather than short stories, making it an unparalleled value) is a masterclass in suspense and intrigue, and it earned 5 stars from this captivated reviewer...

This outstanding collection includes:

The Passenger - One of my personal favorite, this story is a richly developed tale about a woman attempting to earn enough savings to buy her freedom from the 9-5 doldrums so that she can fulfill her lifelong goal of becoming a writer. This tale effectively blurs the line between victim and victor.

The Break - Karen discovers her husband's infidelity, yet she gives her husband a second chance. The relationship is still healing as she takes a break from her slowly healing relationship. However, Karen's short "break" at a holiday home recommended by a friend becomes a lesson in terror - and survival.

The Boyfriend - This story introduced, Adele, a woman who has finally found her "forever" mate, finds her past boyfriends are being killed off, she realizes that things are seldom as they initially seem (at least when the story is conceived by the talented Daniel Hurst).

New Friends - This story begins when a struggling couple encounters a seemingly wealthy couple during a vacation. A main dish of envy served with a side order of misplaced trust rapidly develops into an all top common scenario of betrayal.

Hurst's novels are known for their fast-paced plots, unexpected twists, and deeply flawed yet fascinating characters. Each story delves into the darker aspects of human nature, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

**Plot & Pacing:**
Hurst's novels are meticulously plotted, with twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very last page. The pacing is relentless, ensuring that the tension never lets up. Whether it's a seemingly ordinary person caught in extraordinary circumstances or a complex web of deceit and betrayal, Hurst's stories are designed to keep readers hooked.

Hurst's ability to create complex, multi-dimensional characters is outstandingly evident in this collection. His protagonists are often ordinary individuals who find themselves in extraordinary situations, and their psychological depth is what makes them so compelling. Hurst excels at exploring their inner conflicts and vulnerabilities, making them relatable and human.

Hurst's novels often explore themes of trust, betrayal, and the fine lines between sanity and madness, and good and evil. His writing style is sharp and evocative, with a keen eye for detail that brings his settings and characters to life. The psychological depth of his stories is what sets them apart, as he delves into the minds of his characters, revealing their darkest secrets and fears.

Daniel Hurst's psychological thrillers are a must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery with a psychological twist. His ability to craft gripping narratives with well-developed characters and unexpected plot twists makes his books stand out in the genre. Whether you're a seasoned thriller fan or new to the genre, Hurst's novels are sure to leave a lasting impression.

For those who enjoy being kept on their toes and love a good psychological puzzle, Daniel Hurst's novels are a perfect choice. His stories are filled with suspense, intrigue, and a deep understanding of human nature. If you're looking for a thrilling read that will keep you guessing until the end, Hurst's psychological thrillers are a great pick.

1) The Passenger
What a trip of a story! Being from another place and not using the trains for transport, that much was insightful. The object of this story was scary, wonderous, and wondering what the heck else could happen?! Being on such a train, going home for the last time to just being able to write full time, is a Wonderful Feeling, right?! That is what Amanda is going through. I am so happy for her at this point. It then changes in so many different ways, I think even she is having a hard time keeping up! But she does amazing things!

2). The Break
Who would not want a break after several months ago you found out your husband had cheated on you? That is exactly what Karen feels she needs after being told by her new friend Sarah that there is this Holiday Home that is wonderful, and only advertised by word of mouth.
What a wonderful twisting of words and actions! This was not the cheating husband story I thought it might be. It was much more intense!

3) The Boyfriend
A beautiful woman from a beautiful girl, only having a few boyfriends throughout her life, but having a spot of it that she cannot remember. What happened when she was 16 years old? What made her head get bumped so hard? Why was she there?
These are some of the questions that have made Adele wonder later in life.
Then her ex-boyfriends start ending up dead, and she gets mysterious texts that the others will be killed too, "3 down, 3 to go".. but that means the 6th one, is Tom, her fiance'.
I had many thoughts throughout this story, thinking of who it might be... it was only one of those that was true.

4). The New Friends
What an interesting and yet disturbing story. Many people worldwide go through the challenges of a relationship, money and hierarchy, friends & family, and then the possibilities of a family. Jamie and Becky are doing ok, go on a holiday, and decide that they want to start a family, Jamie surprises Becky, that he has been quietly saving money for this so that she can stay home with a baby for a while.
They meet a wonderful married couple, Phil & Mel, while on this holiday in Spain.
Sometimes, things are not completely as they seem, maybe a little, perhaps a lot... Phil & Mel are a lot not what they seem to be...
This thriller travels to different locations and shows readers what to look for when meeting a new couple—what could be huge red flags saying RUN!

Thank you, Daniel Hurst, for sharing your stories for us to watch out for in real life!

Daniel Hurst Psychological Thriller Box Set by Daniel Hurst (of course.) It’s four full length thrillers that go full throttle and each one is worth buying on its own, let alone in a box set such a deal! The first one is The Passenger, a mother meets a good looking man on a train but there’s no need to get to know each other because he already knows everything about her even the 20,000 pounds she has in her safe at home thanks to her very unlikable daughter Louise. The next story is The Break, a mother lives a chaotic life with her husband and two children and thinks a break might be in order but before her little vacation away is over she’ll be wishing she would’ve stayed home. The third book is The Boyfriend, will have all the single women rethinking online relationships because this one does not go so well. The final and fourth story is called The New Friends, a couple are getting ready to head home from their holiday when they meet another couple who invites them to share a bottle of champagne but little do the unsuspecting couple no they been chosen for a reason and will be wishing they never chose to share champagne with the fancy couple. There’s of few authors who all I have to do is see their name and I am definitely getting the book in Daniel hurst is definitely one of those authors. If his name is on the book you know you’re in for a great ride with an awesome ending and all four of these books have those attributes. This is a box set I 100% recommend to any thriller fan who loves edge of your seat Reeds.

Thank you, Netgalley and Inkubator Books for this ARC. After reading The Perfect Nurse Series by Daniel Hurst, I was hooked on his books! They're very fast-paced, captivating, and have tons of twists and turns. This box set included the four books mentioned below.

1. The Passenger: Amanda is a single mom who has a strained relationship with her teenage daughter. She meets a stranger on her daily commuter train from the city, and the man threatens the lives of her and her daughter if she doesn't give up the combination to her safe.

2. The Break: Karen has been struggling mentally from being overwhelmed with her two sons and her husband, and she needs a break. A friend suggested a local vacation home to Karen for a few nights away from her family in hopes it will help Karen relax and unwind. But there's a dark secret about the vacation home.

3. The Boyfriend: Adele is happily engaged to Tom and diving into wedding planning when something strange begins to happen. Her ex boyfriends are all turning up dead within a few days of each other. Adele worries for her and her fiancé and tries to solve the mystery.

4. New Friends: Becky and Jamie are struggling financially and trying to plan for having a baby. They decide to take a short trip to Spain for a few days and stick to a strict budget. On their last night, they met a couple, Phil and Mel, who are close to them in age but are retired due to 'good investments'. But are Phil and Mel really who they say they are?

My favorite book from this Box Set is The Boyfriend, and WOW this is one you need to read. Daniel Hurst's books are always good but this one if fantastic.

How would you feel if one of your ex-boyfriends died? Or two? Or three? These ex-boyfriends were also old school mates, so would you go to the funerals? You are now engaged to a wonderful man and will be married within a year, what will he think? Would he be okay you going to their funerals, knowing you are only going out of respect and feel nothing for them now. And after the third funeral you get a text "three down and only five more to go"? What? Someone is killing my ex-boyfriends and what do they mean five to go? You have only dated seven men in your life, on NO are the counting Tom in on this. Are they planning on killing them all? Who is doing this? I have to go to the police. Will they be able to help me? Will they believe me?

Read this great book and see what Adele did and how it all turns out. I guarantee you will not regret it! And thank you Daniel Hurst for another great book. Please keep these great books coming!

Four utterly gripping full length novels in one epic box set!

Each novel is standalone and together these novels really showcase the wonderful imagination this author has. Each plot is unique, exciting and utterly unpredictable!

The 4 novels are:

'The Passenger' -a story with themes of stalking involving Amanda, a wannabe author on a London-Brighton commute.
'The Break' - featuring Karen, who discovers her too-good-to-be-true solitary break really is too good to be true as disaster swiftly follows.
'The Boyfriend' - this novel finds Adele in the terrifying position of having her ex-boyfriends swiftly dispatched with the threat that her current partner is also in danger.
'The New Friends' with some seriously scary fraudsters that will leave you highly suspicious of the motives of any apparent 'new friends'!

This collection packs a serious punch and had my up all night turning those pages!

All in all, an outstanding collection, and one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to readers of psychological fiction.

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

This collection is made up of four books:

The Passenger: Strangers meet on a train home from work. One of them has been stalking the other with nefarious intentions.

The Break: a busy mom wife and mom takes a short holiday to unwind. Little does she know the wonderful house she is staying has a connection to the past that she won't see coming.

The Boyfriend: Adele's ex-boyfriends are dying one by one. Why won't the police believe this can't be a coincidence?

New Friends: Ordinary couple meets rich couple on vacation. One couple is not who they portray. Chaos ensues.

What a great bunch of reads. I love this author and was beyond excited to read four more. I would recommend any and all of these books.

I hadn't realised that I'd read #DanielHurst before but as I devoured these 4 thrillers, I realised I had already read the 4th one.
All I can say is definitely give this a go. I wasn't sure how I'd feel ready 4 of the same authors books in a row, worried they'd be a bit samey, I was so wrong, I could've read a 5th!!
Im so impressed how the male writer can get inside a woman's mind, I would swear this was a female author if I didn't know.
All 4 books were such easy, relatable reading. Occasionally a bit predictable but certainly not always.
A strong 4 stars for this one, and I will certainly remember the name #DanielHurst in the future.
Thank you to #NetGalley for the advanced copy

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the four books in this boxset.
Each different, yet every one of them in their own way, a gripping, nail-biting, captivating riveting read.
All of them, have well written storylines and plots, with revelations, twists and turns and strong interesting characters.
They kept me guessing as I read but I was always fooled by an unexpected twist.
Once started I was reluctant to put down, even for a minute.
I would definitely recommend these books to those who enjoy a great psychological thriller.

This Thriller Box Set is every reader’s dream. It contains full length novels: The Passenger, The Break, The Boyfriend, and The New Friends.

Review for The Passenger: Amanda does not want to commute on the London train anymore. Amanda wants to be a writer. Amanda wants to quit her job and pursue her dream. Amanda saves up money. Amanda also kills a man. She won’t be backed into a corner. She will protect herself and her daughter at all costs. I enjoyed this edge of-your-seat novel and looked forward to every moment I could read a bit more.

This set of 4 books by Daniel Hurst; The Passenger, The Boyfriend, The Break and The New Friends. All good reads, I wouldn't say 'edge of your seat' but page turners none the less. The Passenger was my favourite and The New Friends is my least. This last book was a bit drawn out for me.
But with only 982 pages all together over the 4 book they didn't take long to read.

Sometimes You Just Know

I think I was barely a page into the first story, when I realized I was going to enjoy this author. Each book, in the "box" is a good read. My only criticism is that I think the last story could be shortened a bit, other readers might disagree. I bought another book by Mr. Hurst, so I believe that is the best compliment of all.

I wouldn't be able to recommend just one of these books because all 4 have different scenarios that blew my mind and involve murder, cunning characters, twisted plots and will catch you off guard so be prepared to set everything else aside you won't want to put these books down.

losing trust
I haven´t read books from this author before so I was thankful for a box set to find out about his writing. The stories he told are gripping but they also almost make you lose your trust in the good in people. It´s a sad truth that not all the people you meet in your life mean well.

As a huge Daniel Hurst fan, I was so excited to be able to read this “box set” especially since these were 4 stories I hadn’t read by him yet!

If you like quick paced thrillers that are refreshing and twisty, I can’t recommend Daniel enough. The writing style is similar to Frieda, but across the pond!
