Ah! How am I just finding out about the Benjy books?? I thought I had book friends who wouldn’t keep such things from me. Jk!
But seriously, this was delightful and I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the books in this series. Well written, very cute illustrations and a very likable dog!
Benjy’s family is going on a trip but he’s not allowed to come. He’s to stay home with Aunt Mary. But the next morning he runs away, slipping aboard the boat his family went on - or is it their boat?
What a cute story. Benjy’s family is going on a boat trip but Benjy has to stay behind with the children’s aunt. But Benjy really wants to go, so he stows away. Unfortunately he is on the wrong ship, but he is such a sweet dog, he makes friends anyway. And when the ship returns to port, Benjy finds his family again. A lovely story that stands the test of time. #LitsyAtoZChildrens
DELIGHTFUL. Can we return to picture books like this please? A doggo adventure, beautiful illustrations, great text, fun to read and leaves you with a smile. Published many years ago - if it ain't broke don't try to fix it 😘 some things blessedly are still just little kid GOLD!
Although Benjy is left behind with a relative while his family goes on a cruise, he inadvertently ends up having his own boat trip after boarding a ship unnoticed. Luckily, the cook takes care of him and he manages to befriend the ship's cat. Kids of all ages will enjoy this cute story.
Benjy is a dog who goes on many trips with his family. When the family goes on a cruise, they leave him behind with an aunt. Not wanting to be left out, he escapes and gets on a boat he mistakes for theirs and ends up on an adventure. A cute dog story.
Benjy's family is sad to have to leave him with Aunt Mary while they go on their boat trip, but Benjy (who I have determined is a Cocker Spaniel) has other ideas -- much to the chagrin of poor Ginger.
I feel like this book or at least this style/author is buried somewhere in my subconscious and resurfaced while we were reading this already popular book (probably because it reminds me of the author's other canine creation, Harry). It's a fun and fairly quick story with a lot of things that appeal to our resident kitty/doggie/boat enthusiast, and I must admit, the voices I assigned to these characters are among my very best (if by best I mean oddest).
A dog who is longing for his family runs away only to find himself on a boat with no one he knows. Will he ever get home? Maybe he'll like the boat so much he will stay there. Wonderfully, comic drawings so simple, yet so expressive. Children love the story. I think the author probably lost a pet, which came home much later and wondered where it had gone, then made up this story about what might have happened to the puppy. Entertaining. Enjoyable. Not too long for a bedtime story.
