This book is a valuable resource and guides you through many aspects of being a step parent or step grandparent. Many people are ill equipped to face what is a challenging change in their family roles. The book I read was the second edition and has probably been updated to reflect current trends in co-parenting and joint custody arrangements. I do wish there had been more coverage of what to do when a parent remarries and the new partner has his/her own issues which then affect the children- how to handle this without detriment to the marriage or the children involved.
