Debasing Seth

Rate this book
My name is Seth Malame, but feel free to call me whatever the hell you want; see if I fucking care.

A tall, sinewy 21-year-old punk cokehead with turquoise hair and piercings. Spooky, eh? Yeah, you have no fucking idea.

When I'm not fighting or stabbing my clients, I live a peaceful life in Switzerland, working as a drug dealer and a whore. My lovely girlfriend, Clara, isn't a fan, but hey! At least my best friend, Enoch, doesn't mind. He always treats me like shit; it's hot as hell. I love it. I really wish he would fuck me, but he says I don't deserve it yet.

I'm going to do whatever it takes to be allowed to suck his dick.

Whatever it takes.

Aiden E. Messer does not exist. Are they an illusion, a ghost, a mere thought? No one knows. If we are to believe one of the children they seem to work with, if they were a teacher, they would be as tall as a human. They are not a teacher. According to various sources, they have studied psychology, and have always had a penchant for horror and the macabre. They like to combine these subjects in their books.

absolutely sickening content, but i liked it. had to pause and stare at a wall for a few minutes after reading, but i guess that’s what good splatterpunk / horror erotica is supposed to do to you. 4.5 stars!

I don’t like to yuck anyone’s yum. It’s not cool to kink shame, unless that’s your kink.* I know what I like (*) & what I don’t. Hearing about what you other lil nasties are into isn’t necessarily the highlight of my day, but it’s definitely made for some great stories. Including Debasing Seth by Aidan E. Messer. I won’t even lie, I went into this one hesitant. Like how far will it go? How weird are we going to get? How is Aidan going to steer his story from freakfest to the bloody, depraved, fuckedupfest that we all know & love? Oh me, of little faith, why did I ever doubt him?
P.s. It’s a rare occasion but my usual quick premise will be replaced by the actual premise b/c you don’t fuck with perfection.

Actual premise:
“My name is Seth Malame, but feel free to call me whatever the hell you want; see if I fucking care. A tall, sinewy 21-year-old punk cokehead with turquoise hair and piercings. Spooky, eh? Yeah, you have no fucking idea. When I'm not fighting or stabbing my clients, l live a peaceful life in Switzerland, working as a drug dealer and a whore. Whatever it takes.”

This book made me do a lot of thinking, which is never a good thing. Which is why I think this book is dangerous, for me at least. Not dangerous ⚠️, but dangerous 🫦. It made me literally stop reading & ask myself, “Self. How much would it take to let someone break our nose? Like, truly cock that shit to the side? Hmm? How much.” I deleted that response from my memory & walled off that part of my brain b/c I don’t have room for another slippery slope like that. Regardless, this was a fun little fucked up story that pulls you in from the giddyup. It sounds like it’s going to be just sex & degradation, & let’s be honest. I’ve seen the memes you share, I know you’re into that shit. However, Aiden goes so much further with it & weaves in a shocking tale that is not to be missed. Stop pretending the cover didn’t immediately make you add it to your TBR. No one’s going to judge you. Just me. 🫦
P.p.s. If you see me in the future acting extra bougie with a bandaged up nose…stay out of grown folks business. 👀

How’s that for a relaxing bedtime read? In this story we follow Seth, a sex working drug dealer with a troubled past as he navigates his degradation kink with a sadist, Enoch, all too willing to indulge. A taste for violence and sexual depravity along with Seth’s willingness to allow Enoch to indulge in all his sickest fantasies makes them a match made in hell. We follow them from a cocaine fueled fuckfest in a crime scene, to some cum-kink sounding (yum), to a shockingly intense scene involving PEANUTS of all things. It’s a quick read that packs enough vileness to satiate your debased cravings. Well done Aiden! 👏

Meet Seth, the crazy purple-haired punk junkie who thrives on pain, punishment and abuse of all description - mostly on a self-reference basis only. A glutton for violence, coke, sex, torture, mutilation and killing, he enters into a homosexual domination/submission relationship with the clean-living Enoch who just loves to give and give and give, whereby things just seemingly go from a 'most loving' bad to a far, far worse state of affairs, that is as long as Seth keeps getting his full quota of totally OTT dominating sick abuse and sexual depravity meted out by his cold and callous, masterful lover. Just pray that these two never knock on your door looking for their sex kicks from you!

A short trip into total insanity - be warned, explicitly raw and brutal from start to finish.

Enjoyed it, strangely...I think?

Rating: 3.8 stars of obscene, shameless degradation.

Ever seen Secretary with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal—a story about a lawyer, his secretary, and their BDSM relationship? Now, imagine that cranked up to 36x the intensity, with gore, raw emotion, drug use, murder, and two men at its center. That’s Debasing Seth in a nutshell.

This book is visceral, gripping, and not for the faint of heart. If you’re looking for a dark, unapologetic dive into complex relationships, power dynamics, and brutality, this is it. Just read it.

I want to thank the author for the opportunity to review this book.

WOW!! Another incredible horror erotica by Aiden E Messer!

This was an insane story about a guy named Seth who is a broken person with some sick desires. I honestly found myself feeling sad about him and his past, he really just wanted to feel loved. Then there’s Enoch, who I absolutely HATED (Messer did an amazing job writing him as a villain). It made me sad at points, because this does depict a very toxic relationship (understand this is NOT a romance story!). This book was sick and twisted, very well done! I’m very fortunate to have gotten to read this story early, thank you Aiden!

I was sent the arc of this, and god daym am I so pleased i got it. Wow, this book is truly something else, I devoured it in 2 chunks. The story was fantastic and just kept getting darker and darker, There is just such deep hopelessness oozing from seth. In his own way, he is very endearing, and I really hoped for the best constantly Enoch is well..... I dont know how to describe him other than to say he is a terrible human, and that doesn't really suffice. The violence was disgusting, and over the top, it was great. All in all, strong cast of characters, an awesome story that kept getting more violent and interesting. This book has so many trigger warnings.

No rating, just thoughts 😅

Every once in a while, I read something not because I want to feel warm and fuzzy—but because I want to knock the wind out of my own moral compass and see where I land. Debasing Seth? Oh, it threw me off the cliff, waved from above, and whispered, “Enjoy the descent.”

I picked this novella up during the 2025 Trans Rights Readathon to support the author—and while I don’t regret it, I also don’t think I’ll be the same person again. I knew what I was signing up for. This isn’t a feel-good love story with tender eye contact and tea-sipping banter. This is full-throttle sexual depravity, psychological rot, and a match made straight out of the kinkiest circle of hell.

Seth is a sex-working drug dealer with trauma layered like a lasagna. Enoch is a sadist with no interest in softening the blow—literally or figuratively. Their connection is made of degradation, pain, control, and something sticky and morally complicated that slithers under your skin. It’s less romance, more…smut-drenched chaos.

Is this novella for everyone? Oh honey, no.
Is it a “bad” one? Also no.
Was it for me? Not really, no.
Did it do exactly what it set out to do? Without a single doubt.

The writing is sharp, edgy, and bratty like Seth, and brutally committed to its themes. It doesn’t flinch. It doesn’t apologize. It dares you to keep reading—and against my better judgment, I did. I can’t rate this because I was never the intended audience, but I can say: if this is your brand of depravity, you’re in for a ride. As for me? I’ll be over here drinking chamomile tea and questioning my life choices.

Besides Embracing the Predator. I think this has been one of the best novels that Aiden has written this year! It was brutal, shocking and totally stomach turning! It was everything I wanted in an extreme/splatterpunk novel! Please be advised this book is one big trigger warning.

Well. 😬😬

Be back with words...once I am able to accurately describe how tf this made me feel....because, woah!

I don't care what others may say... this is another fabulous erotic horror novella with equally awesome cover art. I know when I grab a Messer novella that I am going to get something gay AF and bloody AF, and that's why I will read anything Messer writes!

These characters are some of the most depraved yet, and that's saying a lot after reading Pet and Embracing A Predator. There is just something about Enochs outward appearance and how it's contrasts with his depravity that makes his character absolutely vile. Not that Seth is an angel himself, but I almost pitied him....key, the word being ALMOST!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by the author and I was selected as an ARC reader and am so thankful for the opportunity!
Unfortunately I just don’t think this book is for me. Aiden has elements of splatter punk but it leans more of a dark romance in my opinion. The story itself is interesting, but I just think the writing style isn’t for me or I simply didn’t enjoy the characters. Aiden’s descriptive writing is something I did enjoy especially during some of the gnarlier scenes. I haven’t read other books by this author so I can’t really compare it. I probably won’t read this book again, BUT I see potential in this author and will definitely be trying to read another book.
I love the LGBT inclusion and diversity in the book and I think that is so important. It wasn’t my favorite read but doesn’t mean it won’t be someone else’s!

To the author: Aiden, I hate leaving anything that seems negative because I know how hard it is to put yourself out there, especially your art and your work. Keep writing, keep honing your craft, and keep being you unapologetically! Thank you so much for this ARC opportunity and I will be looking to reading another book of yours (I’d honestly love it if you would recommend another of your books to me, one you think I may like or that you’re most proud of)

Debasing Seth by Aiden E. Messer

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5

I was lucky enough to get to be an ARC reader for Debasing Seth by Aiden E. Messer. This one was a PAGE TURNER, considering I received the ebook and finished it in the same day. It is depraved and sits solidly in the genres of splattetpunk and dark romance (lots of gore and sex and kink - much at the same time). This one is not for the faint of heart. The relationships depicted are toxic and unhealthy as fuck but it’s a breath of fresh air that the author isn’t trying to turn an unhealthy relationship into a healthy one. Yay for toxic queer relationship representation! The only things I would change about this book would require it to be longer and the author likely intended this to be a short novella. I would have loved more character development for Seth, Enoch and Clara. I didn’t really have empathy or sympathy for any of the characters in the book. I like to care at least a little bit about one character. I feel like the author left room for additional books featuring these characters and I would be interested in learning more about their backstories and the origin of their friendship. This author has serious skill in writing witty and hot characters and I can’t wait to read more from them. I’ll leave you with my favorite line from the book: “don’t cut off the hand that fists you or whatever.”

Debasing Seth had me reeling. It's brash, irreverent, and hilarious. This is my new favorite piece from Messer. Seth is an irredeemable trainwreck that would be tragic if written in any other tone, but Messer makes him fun. Like a little demented puppy. Enoch is more level-headed but just as depraved.

I love how everyone else reacts like rational, sane people. Seth has people who really care about him and want to see him do better...too bad he has every intention of diving off the edge. These foils to Seth's warped perception are so shocking they become darkly humorous.

Thanks so much to Messer for sending me an ARC for free. I'm leaving this review of my own accord.

I've just finished reading Debasing Seth today and I'm actually sitting here at an entire loss of words of what to even write. I think this was probably one of the books I've ever been quite so repelled by (and I mean this as a compliment) because it was just so shocking and wonderfully vile. It was smut, mixed with BDSM, with a good sprinkle of good-old splatterpunk goodness (though I'd probably say this is more extreme horror mixed with dark romance? definitely a new sub-genre that's yet to be named) Debasing Seth was definitely a new and unique experience for me. Highly recommend if you need something new!

A whole lot of debauchery in a tiny package with this one!

Just when you think things can’t get worse they… very promptly worsen. It was a one sitting read for me, I definitely enjoyed how boundary pushing it was- although there is a good amount of need to suspend the disbelief with this storyline.

If you are looking for a short yet horrific splatter read, that hinges of the corners of horror and dark romance- this is one for you!

★ ★ ★.5

The depravity at times was top tier with some gory descriptos. Messer really knows how to pack a punch in a really short number of pages. The dynamic between Enoch and Seth was twisted yet totally chaotic. I think the only thing that affected my rating was the feeling of wanting more at the end of the book. Other than that, a very entertaining book for those who enjoy a extreme horror and MM erotica filled read.

First off, I’d like to say thank you to Aiden for choosing me to receive a physical arc copy of Debasing Seth. The cover alone puts it near the top of my list for most creative covers.

Now on to the show! What can I say about Seth…hmmm let me think. How about filled with an unhealthy obsession that’s almost like a twisted sense of devotion for all the wrong reasons? Yeah, that sounds about right. For all intents and purposes Seth, I feel is the embodiment of the deepest and darkest tendencies that most normal people suppress. That little bit of morbid insanity that is kept locked away, just Seth chooses not to. The willingness to embrace depraved behaviour to please Enoch, the source of his obsession was just wild.

Now on to Enoch. A sadist in its purest form, disguised as a normal person. Enoch thrives on Seth’s willingness to please him and takes the ultimate pleasure in trying to break the love struck Seth. Near then end he nearly succeeds but Seth being blinded by his adoration dismisses Enoch’s behaviour despite nearly losing his life.

Overall Debasing Seth was gritty, gruesome, raunchy and all around fun. I look forward to continuing to read more of Aiden’s work in the future.

I was lucky enough to receive an eARC of this masterpiece, and oh how I could not put this one down!

It read so easily and the story was shocking and exciting, without being heavily stomach turning. This is not usually my cup of tea because I feel like it gets a little closer to smut than I'd like, but I enjoyed reading about the gore and how this abusive relationship became more and more extreme. This is definitely unlike any Splatterpunk book I've read before and would recommend!

Looking forward to reading more from this author, because I absolutely love the writing style.

Aiden E. Messer did it again, literally every single book they write is always phenomenal.

Highly recommend checking out Debasing Seth!

Genre: Horror, Erotica, Splatterpunk, MM.
Literally ALL the TWs.

What the actual fuck did I just read. My eyes feel violated from having devoured this monstrosity. Misery loves company, you know you wanna join in. Read it. I dare you.

This is an intriguing and unapologetic exploration of themes of identity, desire, and the complexities of human relationships, making it a compelling read for fans of gritty, unflinching portrayals of the human condition.

i was lovingly sent an advanced reader copy of 'Debasing Seth', and even if i wasn't, i still would've rated it highly
sometimes i just want to read something gross, disturbing, and ... gay.... and that's what this is. just two fucked up dudes feeding into each other's depravity. it's gross, it's nasty, it's Aiden E. Messer.
i read it in one sitting with absolutely no breaks, i couldn't stop. every page just gets WORSE.
i would say it was short and sweet , but it definitely was NOT sweet. more like.... short and shocking?
let's get weird, let's get queer, let's get GROSS.
thank you Aiden E. Messer for giving me the wonderful opportunity to read your work!

First off, Aiden is one of my favorite queer splatterpunk authors. This one is definitely top of my list. When I tell you I didn’t know whether to cringe, laugh, or throw up…this story was one big roller coaster.

Seth basically lives to please the sick, twisted, and sadistic Enoch. He will do anything to please him and the things that Enoch requires of him just gets worse and worse at the turn of each page.

If you are squeamish whatsoever I would not recommend this book at all because Aiden definitely knows how to give all the gory details and they didn’t hold back a single bit in this one.

Thank you for making me second guess my love for splatter lol and thank you for your disturbing and stomach churning writing because I absolutely love it!

As soon as I read the description and saw arc sign ups for this I knew I needed it! MM, erotica, and extreme horror are pretty much my favorite things to read about and this book checked every box.

Starting this, I thought Seth was twisted and fucked up but then Enoch was introduced. A dangerous pairing, Seth loves being used and Enoch loves chewing him up and spitting him out. So much depravity in these pages I don’t know how many times I thought what the fuck!

Easily 5 stars. A super quick, enjoyable read!

i always enjoy Aiden’s books and this is honestly probably my second favorite right after Pet! this book with the dual POV, the horror spice scenes & the splatterpunk of it all really go well together. i loved the different vibes that each main character had, they’re so different but they go together so well. very much like a dark version of opposites attract.
quick read but def not for the ones who aren’t into horror. a few scenes caught me by surprise but they were GREAT!
definitely recommend it, especially if you’re into queer spicy horror. absolutely amazing!

Don't you wish you had a man who would take a bullet for you? How about one that would take the whole barrel?

Debasing Seth is more than a book that reeks of cheap sex, drugs, and lust for gore; it's a book full of bad ideas (Which makes it perfect for you and your queer lover to enjoy, especially in the bedroom).
Jokes aside, you always blow me away with your work, Aiden. I find myself drooling over your literature time and time again, keep up the work, and stay punk-rock !!
