For being a debut novel, I am thoroughly impressed. The art with which this story line, which mind you is not simple, is woven together is nicely done. Personally, I don’t love a multi-perspective book because I find it can be a bit overwhelming to the reader. However, I will say the nature of this story did benefit from the multi-perspective due to how many individuals are involved. Mormile did great with the twists and turns of this novel. I look forward to reading the next one!

I am so happy that this was my first read of 2025. Killer Changes seamlessly jumps from past to present day focusing on a few main characters whose story lines keep you intrigued throughout each chapter. The book contains sensitive topics but in a way where it focuses more on the characters emotions, secrets, and motives and makes it an enjoyable read. I can’t believe this is the authors debut novel! I look forward to reading his future books!

Killer Changes takes you through the perspective of several characters that all play a key role in the novels plot. Luckily I didn’t have problems switching between them all - this takes careful writing! The book got better as I read on, in a way I wasn’t expecting, making it hard to put down. I think the subject matter is unique as well. I look forward to reading more from the new author.

Compelling; Characters, and plot. Very much worth your time!

Usually, I can't get more than 20% into books like this, but, all the twists and turns; the love/ hate bonds I made with the different characters, working to add up all the pieces... SUCH a satisfying (albeit, somber) ending...

This book made me feel a lot, and I appreciated the ride!

This was a thrilling ride from start to finish. The story kept me guessing with a few twists along the way and I enjoyed the variety of character perspectives throughout. The ending was my favorite - unexpected (for me, at least) and tied up with a bow. If you enjoy suspense thrillers, this is a must-read!

This was such an amazing way to start my year of reading strong. This story was delicately woven together with so many perspectives. The intricacies are worth it in the end, and the author delivers a satisfying conclusion wrapping all of it up beautifully. The writing was well done, and many times I could relate to some of the feelings the characters had around trauma, complex teenage feelings, family dynamics, etc. so excited to read more from this author someday!

This is a hell of a great start on the literary scene for Anthony Mormile! I enjoy a good thriller and the premise of school shooting survivors out for revenge on their assailant hooked me right away! As I read it, I quickly found myself invested in the struggles of the five main characters. The alternating past/present chapters were a fun touch, gradually unveiling what led to the traumatic moment that brought all the POV characters together for better and worse. I’m biased, but I always enjoy a story that plays with chronology to keep the reader on their toes.

Tackling the subject of a school shooting is obviously something that shouldn’t be handled lightly. Thankfully, Mormile writes this story with care and nuance. It deals with some other heavy themes that are covered without underselling or sensationalizing them. Overall, this managed to entertain me and unsettle me while also feeling like a timely story.

Curious to see what’s next in Mormile’s writing career! I’m sure he’s cooking up something cool!

Anthony Mormile’s Killer Changes is a gripping, multi-perspective thriller that delves into the chilling events leading up to a school shooting and its haunting aftermath. The narrative unfolds through a variety of characters—students and a teacher most affected by the tragedy—each one more complex and morally ambiguous than the last. The novel skillfully challenges the reader to grapple with difficult questions about accountability and the impact of violence, especially when committed by a young person.

What stands out is how the story balances the emotional journeys of its characters with the political and social upheaval in a small town after the shooter’s release from prison. The book is fast-paced and each chapter propels the reader forward, eager to uncover each new twist. I had no idea what I was getting into. This will get you - hook, line and sinker.

What a wild ride!! 😱 'Killer Changes' by Anthony Mormile is a twisty multi-POV thriller about the events leading up to a school shooting and the mysterious aftermath for the students and teacher most affected. This story was layered with surprising reveals, a band of unlikeable characters, and gave the reader ample opportunity to consider who is truly responsible when a child causes harm through violence.

I was so happy that this debut was my 100th read of the year and I look forward to Anthony's next book! 🥳📚

Mormile's fast-paced thriller--about a group of adults tied together by a high school shooting who must contend with the release of the accused shooter from prison--is as concerned with the emotional journeys of the characters as it is with the small town political fallout it describes. The chapters are short and punchy, and they make you want to keep on going. I can honestly say this book went to places I could not have guessed, and that is a refreshing thing to experience in this genre!

Very good book. The author introduces you to the characters and lets you explore their life before, during and after the tragedy they experienced. I liked his writing style of each chapter bouncing back and forth from time frames and different characters point of view. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was definitely one I didn’t want to put down. Over all a 5 star read.

KILLER CHANGES, Audiobook - I enjoyed reading this finely woven tapestry of friendships, betrayals, PTSD, losses and more. The variety of characters are interesting, and insane, and they invoke plenty of emotions, not one tearfilled. The immersing story lines are intriguing and never ending. The pace is constant, never once slowing down. I like the writing style of Mr. Mormile. The narrator Nichalia Schwartz gives an excellent performance with her characters. She is easy to understand and has a pleasant voice. I select audiobooks for my daily walks to rest my eyes. My eyes were well rested since I could not stop listening. Source: Booksprout. 5*
