My heart's desire is an exciting and enthralling time travel, western romance that will take you on a rollercoaster journey of curiosity, mystery, revenge, adversities and desires.
The story follows Amber Harrison who stumbles across her best friend and her husband's tombe stones. And they are in 1883. To reach them she will have to time travel to that era and warn her. However upon reaching there she suddenly encounters a charming, time- traveler deputy Kincaid.
As sparks fly and develop into a swoon-worthy romance, things begin to shift too. As they plan a rescue mission, an escaped convict makes everything more perilous than ever.
This book was gripping and genuinely interested me right from the start. The characters are well written and are vividly explored. Heather's writing style pulls you into the narration. Never a lackluster moment, the plot was absolutely intriguing with suspense, thrillers and romance. It's a page-tuner for sure.
I can officially say that I’m now a sucker for historical romance! Also, add in time travel and I’m SAT. 😍
This book was a captivating story that I did not want to put down! I’m so in love with this story, the characters and all of the Old West elements!
Amber Harrison travels back in time using a portal to try and save her best friend, Emma. When she crosses through and arrives in 1883, she is soon to be introduced to none other than Josh Kincaid.
She is on a mission to save her best friend and her husband, Wyatt Kincaid, from an unknown threat so you can imagine the distraction that his brother, Josh, provides when she first looks into his enchanting emerald green eyes!
Josh is a deputy back in 1883 and has adapted well to the Old West lifestyle. For Amber, on the other hand, it’s a whole new world. With them both on a journey to warn their friends (and Josh’s brother) and bring them back to their present time, things eventually start heating up with Amber and Josh working so closely together! 🤭
Throw in some forced proximity and before you know it your heart will be fluttering! 😍 with romance, drama, mystery and suspense, this story has it all! Even more so once they realize they are being targeted by an escaped convict who wants revenge.
Will they be able to save themselves and their friends and make it back to the present day in time?
I absolutely loved this book so so much!!! A perfect historical romance with some spice and a splash of magical realism! If you like time traveling hunky cowboys, this one is for you!
Thank you so much to the author and Hayling Bookstorm for providing me with this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!

Can you imagine going on a graveyard tour having a lot of fun! Looking for anything mysterious! And all the sudden you see your best friend ,who's in another time, her name on a tombstone! That's Amber's moment of shock!
She then has to go through a time portal and travel to the old west in the 1880s! During her moments there she meets a sexy deputy! Not just any deputy! A time travel one! Gasp! Josh is my man! With everything against them and with everything for them all at once Josh and Amber have to save Amber's best friend and her man!
💖Characters: All the characters were written with a finesse worth the best! When any author tackles multiple tropes it is a skill to be admired! She definitely described the situations the characters are in as if a detailed movie script was put in my hands! The kind of movie script you want to go back and forth and reread something just to keep feeling with the characters are feeling! I was cheering for Amber and Josh every moment!
☕Tropes: This multi-tiered, delicious book treasure combined such amazing tropes I could not look away from each scene or each moment that played out!
🧁Time Travel 🧁Romance of the rich spicy variety! 🧁 Wild West! 🧁 Danger/Villains! 🧁 Suspense!
I haven't read the previous book in the series, where this story starts, but I believe that it didn't hurt my perception of the global picture and plot. It was an interconnected standalone where we fall for these characters since the beggining.
We follow Amber who is in the present time and discovers the tombstones of her best and her husband who have time traveled to 1883. Well, what could she do? She has to try and save them. So she goes through the time portal and travels through time herself landing in the 1883 wild west, where cowboys exist and all the modern things she is accostumed haven't been invented or developed. While there, instead of her best friend she meets her friend's brother-in-law Josh. So, together they must meet their frinds and relative and return to the future. Easier said than done. They have some troubles and are in danger and how will they return? Do they want to? Could they live in the old west?
Amber is such a likeable but strong and feisty woman, who loves intensely and fights for who she loves. Josh is a gentleman, loyal and protective that has a good sense of humor and makes us love him from the start. The world building takes in a journey that we wantnto immerse in and stay connected to those characters, both main and side ones. I can't wait to see what comes next!
My Hearts Desire is Western historical romance that's filled with mystery, suspense, and timetravel. Amber's bestfriends name ends up appearing on a gravestone dated to 1883. There's only one way to save her, and that's for Amber to time travel through a portal to the Old West.
There is where she meets Josh, a time traveling deputy. With a romance blooming and time not being on their side, they must work quickly to solve each of their's problem. Only one thing is stopping them now, someone seeking revenge.
I read this book in one sitting, and I'm so sad it's over! The blurb alone fascinated me so much, and the story was equally fascinating. The whole concept and plot of this book were very appealing, and the author ended up forming it perfectly. I loved the characters so much, and the suspense was absolutely top-tier!
Tropes: 💞Time travel 💞Historical romance 💞Old West 💞Western Romance 💞He falls first 💞Danger/revenge
Thanks so much to the author and Haylingbookstormltd for the ARC!
Well written, full of drama, suspense, romance, intrigue, spicy and time travel. The characters are all well defined, developed , multidimensional and complex. Amber has found some shocking info when taking a graveyard tour. She finds the grave of her friends Emma and Wyatt and the year they died. She has to go in time to find them and warn them of what she found. Hoping to get them back to the future and their safety. Amber arrives in 1883 and meets Josh, a hot deputy sheriff and Wyatt's brother. Josh has to keep Amber safe not only from herself but from the not so good people in that time. Amber realizes that there's not lots to stay in that time- no hot water, no toilet or paper bu the worst is no good coffee. Between the two there's lots of steam and heat. Great book to curl up with and enjoy. A real page turner. Would recommend this story and series to everyone.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.
I was drown to My Heart's Desire because I love a small town story in Wyoming or Montana (Yellowstone is close to my heart). When I was a little girl I loved covered wagons and Little House on the Prairie type of "life," so I was intrigued by time traveling back to 1883. Heather Alexander did a great job at making me feel like I was right there with Amber in 1883. I loved the saloon scene and when Amber and Josh had to share one bed at the inn. One bed is one of my favorite tropes! The story was sprinkled with just a little bit of spice which fit great. I could have done without the repetitiveness of mentioning "1883" or "19th century which eventually slowed down. This is book 2 in the Kincaid Brother's series. I haven't read book 1, Wrapped Around My Heart, but I have added it to my TBR! I didn't feel lost while reading My Heart's Desire.
This was another fun and engaging installment in Heather Alexander's time travel romance series set in 19th century Montana. Amber Harrison is a brave and sassy heroine who travels to the past to save her best friend Emma from an early death. Her loyalty to her friend and courage in facing the challenges of 19th century life are admirable. As soon as she arrives in the past, she meets Josh Kincaid, Emma's handsome brother-in-law (also originally from the present day). He's a deputy and takes his law enforcement duties very seriously. Their chemistry is apparent from the start, and their attraction to each other sizzles as they pair up to save Emma and Wyatt (Josh's brother) from an evil time traveller bent on their demise. The book is fast paced and engaging, and the story will sweep you away to a bygone time. This series is a delight, and I can't wait for the next one!
A sexy romance tingler set in 1883. Only Amber is from our world today and has thrust herself back in time to find out what happened to her best friend, who also went back in time and never returned. Only she didn’t count on running into Josh Kincaid, nor the attraction that ensues between them. Can they rescue her friend or, better question, does she really want to return and leave Josh behind? No spoilers here. Read this gripping western romance and find out for yourself.
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
A wonderful time travel novel that you should read the first novel and then this one. It helps you find your way through the machinations of the time travel that leads Josh and Amber to discover each other. This story is well-written and will keep a lover of history and the Wild West entertained.
Travel through time to the Old West with well-developed characters (some time travelers and some locals). It held my interest from beginning to end and would read more by this author and series. It is easy to follow even if the reader did not read the first one in the series (like me).

I just love the combination of romance and time traveling in Josh and Amber´s story. Wouldn´t it be splendid if we could thus make things right that went wrong in the past? On the other hand, everything seems to happen for a reason and there surely would be selfish people using time travel for their own gain.
Wow, where do I even begin? I just finished reading My Heart's Desire, the second book in this incredible time-travel romance series, and I’m blown away. I didn’t think I’d enjoy a time-travel romance this much, but this book completely proved me wrong. Following the first book, which focused on Wyatt and Emma, this one dives into the story of Josh and Amber, and it’s just as captivating.
The book begins with Amber traveling back to 1883, the wild, untamed West. That's how Amber's story unfolds, showing her unexpected journey into the 1883. What I loved most is how this isn’t a fairy tale of being stuck in the past and loving every minute of it. Instead, it’s a thoughtful exploration of adapting to a different era, missing home, and finding companion where you least expect it.
Amber’s character was so relatable—she wasn’t just trying to adjust to a new world for herself but did it all for the sake of her best friend. Her struggles and resilience really connect with me. And Josh? A perfect balance of responsibility, loyalty, and charm. Their chemistry kept me hooked.
The world-building is phenomenal. The Author transports you to 1883 so that you can almost feel the Wild West and the rawness of life back then. The attention to detail, from traveling hardships to societal dynamics, was impressive. And the supporting characters added so much depth—Anna, for example, was such a strong-minded female character despite the time period.
While I loved the book, I did feel the pacing was a bit slow at times. Some parts felt dragged out, but as the story progressed, I was completely into this book. It’s a beautifully written book with simple, engaging language and new twists that made the journey unforgettable.
If you’re someone who loves romance with a twist, especially time travel, My Heart's Desire is a must-read. While I still hold the first book as my favorite, this one is a close second, and I already can’t wait to revisit the series.

This was a good book to read, 8n front of a wood fire on an icy cold day, a mix of romance, Wild West and of course the bad guys. It left me wanting to read the next in the series, which is always a good sign.
