I was seriously thrilled to read this book coz let’s face it. How many times can you meet a hot fifty-year-old hero? Yes, please. I’m game anytime! Um…Adam’s gorgeous physique was the best aspect of this story. I am honestly surprised when I look at this high average rating. Have I read the same book? What’s wrong with me? Well, I’m going to tell you what’s wrong with this book. Just keep in mind it’s only my opinion though.

Finally!! Master Seargent Adam Montague and Karla find love. This book was the steamiest of the series thus far, but I also found it to be most frustrating. **Spoiler Alert**

Adam is twenty-five years Karla's senior and is in major denial about his feelings for her. He wants to view her as the sixteen year old he met nine years ago. He is disgusted with himself for the attraction he has to her now that she is twenty-five years old. In addition, he has some serious demons in his past that he hasn't dealt with. Adam try's to push Karla away by demanding that they can only be together as a (Master/Slave, 24/7) agreement even though he doesn't even desire it. He hoped the agreement would be so unbearable that Karla would use the safe word and walk away from him and stop tempting him. I hated the lying from him because I had placed him on a pedestal. Adam's plan to scare Karla off just drove me CRAZY because he was such an honorable good man but he didn't feel he was worthy of love. Didn't even think he was capable of giving love.

Karla was so in love with Adam that she was willing to sacrifice her feisty personality and independence to try and mold herself into the perfect slave for Adam. Adam actually safe worded out of the arrangement in order to protect Karla from herself. Yeah, apparently a Master can safe word if he finds that the agreement isn't working. I never knew that. Adam did fail to communicate why he safe worded which left Karla feeling emotionally insecure. Asshole!!

Adam and Karla had so much love for each other, but Adam's demons and own insecurities got in the way. Kally weaved a detailed story where all questions about Adam's past were answered and his demons were laid to rest. It should have been a major feel good moment, but after all the turmoil Adam put me ( and Karla) through, it wasn't enough to save this book.

I had originally rated this 1 star because I was so upset with Adam for not being the man he seamed to be in book #1. He came across like a total DICK! Kally's characters all have a multitude of issues. And Karla was more patient and forgiving with Adam than I had the patience for.

I really hate it when I love a character and can't wait to read his book, only to have the author present him as a Selfish, Inconsiderate, Ass in their own book!!! Oh and she took a strong, independent heroine, and made her act desperate and insecure! ...more

I couldn't get into this book. There was too much back story of the cougar attack, not likely, cougars are very solitary and stay away from people, but anyway. This attack is mentioned something like five times by the chapter three with no additional bits of info pertinent to the story revealed. And then, of all things, Adam is in the hospital, laying ON HIS BACK, after this wild animal RIPPED the skin off his back and Karla is laying ON TOP OF HIM?!?! I enjoyed this one much more than Nobody’s Angel.

It’s part 3 of the continuing Masters at Arms saga and this really is a saga. The story continues from one book to the next, there’s a lot of story building in each one and they really wouldn’t work as stand alones.

This time, we have the story of Master Adam and his sub Karla who is 25 years his junior. He rescued her from a potentially dangerous situation in a bus station when she was just 16. She’s been in love with him ever since and they’ve b I enjoyed this one much more than Nobody’s Angel.

It’s part 3 of the continuing Masters at Arms saga and this really is a saga. The story continues from one book to the next, there’s a lot of story building in each one and they really wouldn’t work as stand alones.

This time, we have the story of Master Adam and his sub Karla who is 25 years his junior. He rescued her from a potentially dangerous situation in a bus station when she was just 16. She’s been in love with him ever since and they’ve become penpals in the intervening years. Adam, who was newly widowed at the time, thinks of her as just a kid and nothing more. He was aware of her infatuation but considered it to be a childish crush. He was wrong.

Karla walks back into Adam’s life as a singer in his BDSM club several years later. Adam has a passionately physical reaction to seeing her and is horrified at himself. He has a traumatic childhood behind him and is beset in adulthood with all kinds of feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. He believes he may have killed his father, he feels he was a bad husband to his first wife who suffered and died of cancer mostly in his absence due to his military commitments and he feels responsible for deaths of his fallen colleagues. Hence the book’s title, Nobody’s Hero.

Karla, on the other hand, considers him to be a hero and is still deeply in love with him. She knows he won’t make a move and goes after him as a power submissive on turbo charge. Adam, knowing he can’t escape her, decides to push her into an agreement she will consider intolerable to force her to safeword out and they start an extreme TPE master/slave agreement.

Karla takes to this like a duck to water, to Adam’s surprise, and it isn’t her that eventually has to safeword but both of them are aware that Karla’s personality is fading to grey with this agreement. He’s losing the feisty women he was, unknowingly, falling in love with.

And so the story continues on much in this vein with Karla constantly topping him – she’s brought him to his knees before, can she do it again one more and final time?

I loved this story – Adam’s deep lack of self worth was really tangible and he almost reduced me to tears on more than one occasion. Karla, also grief stricken due to the recent loss of her brother, is a character to admire – she’s strong, resolute and cares deeply for Adam and will do anything for him.

There are a few supernatural elements to this series now with Cassie’s spirit drawings in book 2 and Joni’s (Adam’s late wife) voice a constant presence throughout this one.

These stories are strongly about the emotional journey the central couple take. Of course there’s a whole lot of sex, it’s a BDSM novel after all, which is very hot, but it’s more of a backdrop to the personal strife and problems and not the reason for being of the novel.

As always, we have world building besides the central couple. The next book, Damian and Savi, is set up nicely here especially with the epilogue and really has left me howling for the next one. Thankfully, it is due out next week.

So, all in all, a big improvement on book 2, I felt, and I’m deeply invested in these characters now and can’t wait for Nobody’s Perfect. Bring it on.

Needed to move at a faster pace.
Needed more suspense.

The adult scenes were intimate and steaming hot.
Very erotic.
Although even they tended to have a small problem.

There was to much 'lecturing' in a few of the scenes about BDSM during the intimate scenes.
This caused me to start skimming.

The very first book, Masters At Arms, is the best so far. The writing in Nobody's Angel and Nobody's Perfect was a bit lacking. I've been looking forward to Adam's and Karla's story from that very first book, and I had very high hopes. They may have been too high. Either way, I was a bit disappointed, especially with the first half of this book. The second half was a bit better, but not by much. I did feel everyone’s emotions in this one as if they were my own: Karla’s, Adam’s, Damian’s, Savi’s, Marc’s, Angelina’s, Luke’s, Cassie’s, even Grant’s…they were all so clear and heart-wrenching, I felt like residing in their heads. I have had a bit of a crush on Adam since the first book and was so looking forward to his story!! Adam is truly a tortured and damaged soul in desperate need of fixing and this paired with him being total alpha male gorgeousness completely appeals to me! But....unfortunately through most of the story (well until 2/3 in really) I was left frustrated at the constant lack of communication and unnecessary drama. I also have a problem with the 24/7 "slave" issue. There were other bits of the story t I have had a bit of a crush on Adam since the first book and was so looking forward to his story!! Adam is truly a tortured and damaged soul in desperate need of fixing and this paired with him being total alpha male gorgeousness completely appeals to me! But....unfortunately through most of the story (well until 2/3 in really) I was left frustrated at the constant lack of communication and unnecessary drama. I also have a problem with the 24/7 "slave" issue. There were other bits of the story that were questionable too and took the story beyond the realms of reality like hearing and talking to a ghost..what was that??!!

So that is why Adam's book fell short for me. I will say though that I did love the characters and their respective emotions and journey's, it's the massively screwed up way they went about it I had a problem with. As for the yummy scenes all I'll say is HOT!!!!

Adam is 25 years older than Karla and is in major denial about his feelings for her. He keeps rescuing her, the first being when she was 16, and they have kept in touch ever since. Adam feels extremely protective of her and she is a life line to him and unbeknownst to him, at the start, she rescued him too on several occasions. It is not until she enters his club 9 years later that he sees her for the woman she has become and acknowledges that he is attracted to her. However he wants to continue to view her as the 16 year old he met nine years ago and is disgusted with himself for the attraction he has to her now. Adam is so scared to love again and refuses for anyone to get close. His insecurities and troubled soul has built a brick wall round him for protection which results in actions that completely go against the honorable man that he is.

Karla is madly in love with Adam, has been since she was sweet 16. She'd do anything to secure his love - as a man loves a woman. I truly felt for Karla, the amount of times her heart was ripped from her chest I am surprised she came out of this intact! At first I was shouting at her (well my kindle) for being weak and to stand up for herself, however I then asked myself how far would you go/what would you try to reach the man you loved and receive his love back in return??!!

So yes this story was frustrating, but I did enjoy it and Adam came good for me in the end so I am no longer mad at him LOL, it was a close call though!!

I have been waiting for Adam's book since meeting this extraordinary man in Master at Arms. As none of the books in this series should be read as stand alone I am not going to give a review as if it was.

There were two main things that always prevented Adam from giving in to his feelings for Karla and starting a relationship. His guilt over his dead wife Joni and the 25 year age difference between them. As he was recovering from saving Karla from a cougar his defensive's were down and in the midst of a dream and days of being on pain killers made love to Karla. I think the author did a fantastic job of showing us both sides of a relationship between two people with such a vast age difference. Adam has 50 years of pain and regret on his soul where as Karla has all the insecurities of a woman her age. I am in my mid forties and I could still remember having all those feelings and thoughts that Karla did - no matter the age men and women never seem to look or feel they same about something that happens in the relationship. Most of the times the guy is left scratching his head wondering what he did he wrong as Adam did through most of this book. I loved being on the journey with this two as Adam finally conquered all of his demons from the past and Karla finally got her man.

As with with the first book this book doesn't just deal with one couple. We get to see how Marc and Angelina's relationship is progressing. And then when something tragic happens in Damian's family that takes him back to CA this reunites him with Savannah who is now a mother and a counselor but who wants nothing to do with him until something sends her running for his protection at the end of the book setting up there book that comes out this year.

I loved this book and I am looking forward to all the future ones in this series. ...more

I wont go into the synopsis of Nobody's Hero, as it has been done so well by so many.

BUT.......

Ohh Kallypso, am I glad you gave up your job to become a full time author.

Loved how Master at Arms gave us the initial background to all the characters, wasn't sure at first as there was no HEA, but boy did it work as we got to know the all the players so well before they have their own stories. After finishing it I immediately downloaded Nobody's Angel and Nobody's Hero.

This story was mediocre for me. It was the one I was most looking forward to after the introductory book.
I couldn't wait to read about Adam and Karla however as I felt with the last book the story took forever to reach its conclusion. There were certainly some intense moments of heat however, I think the whole story could have been condensed significantly.

When I was not reading this book I was thinking about it and craving it until I had the time to pick it up OMG I really don't know where to being. First of all this cannot be read as a stand-alone YOU HAVE TO START AT THE BEGINNING WITH MASTERS AT ARMS!!! Ever since reading Adam's intro in that story I could not wait to read this book and it was absolutely amazing! Not only were there some of the hottest BDSM scenes I have ever read, but there were so many emotional moments that left me in tears.

When I was not reading this book I was thinking about it and craving it until I had the time to pick it up and continue reading it. Everything else was forgotten and all I wanted to do was just get lost in the story with Adam and Karla.

I have to say the author made the characters FEEL SO ALIVE that I felt that I was right there watching everything play out. All the characters in the series seem SO REAL that you feel that they are actual people who are sharing their experiences with you.

Adam may be 50 years and feels that he is too old for 25 year old Karla, but his body sure doesn't show it. Not only does he still have a ripped physique with steel hard muscles and a six pack he has the stamina of a young stallion who really enjoys rough sex. YOWZA!!! Now where can we find men like him!!!

From beginning to end this book had me completely engrossed as Karla tried to prove to Adam that she wasn't a little girl anymore and that the only man she ever loved and will love is him. However, not only does Adam feel that he is too old for her (despite that his body aches for her) he feels that he would be betraying her parents' trust, his loyalty to his dead wife and he truly feels that he cannot offer Karla wants she needs which is love. Due to past trauma in his life he feels that he is incapable of giving someone love (caring, protecting, showing passion yes, but not love) because he has put a wall around his heart and refuses to ever feel vulnerable again.

Eventually Karla manages to break his defenses and engages in a very hot sexual relationship with Adam. On one hand Adam craves for her, but on the other he tries to push her away by setting up a Master/slave (TPE=Total Power Exchange) relationship thinking that it will cause her to run out the door. Little does Adam know that Karla loves him so deeply and completely that she will do anything for him to be with him including total submission. As they engage in the Master/slave relationship Karla discovers she does has a submissive side that she embraces openly which at the same time makes Adam feel completely drawn to her submission to him. Of course things do not go smoothly as the book progresses and obstacles occur which will have you wanting to scream at Adam to give in to his heart.

This book will definitely puts you on an emotional rollercoaster ride where there will be times that you will need a cold shower to cool off from the very hot scenes (my God Adam is such a HOT, ALPHA DOM SEX EXPERT!!!) to grabbing tissues because of both Adam and Karla's heartaches (I wanted so badly to hold Adam in my arms so many times).

The secondary characters were fantastic in adding sustenance to the story with their warmth, care and supportive nature. This book provides a glimpse into Damian and Savi's story which is the next book in the series which I can't wait to read.

I just have to say this series ROCKS! So far, I have loved each book that Kally has written in this series and lose lots of sleep until I am able to finish each one!

This books starts off where Nobody's Angel ended (so please be sure to read the series in order!). Adam is in the hospital after the cougar attack and Karla is keeping vigil at his bedside to make sure that he is okay. I have been waiting to get my hands on this book since reading Ms. Masters first book, Masters At Arms. Adam and Karla stole my heart in that one, and I couldn't wait to read their story in Nobody's Hero. Ms. Masters did not disappoint.

First, if you've not read the first two books in this series, you must do so before reading this one. There are things in the first two books you need to read to fully understand what's going on between these two characters.

I know I'm going to be in the minority with this review, but here goes. I started this series because of the great character development of the Masters at Arms men. But this one started out seeming to lose its emotional connection to the characters. We went from 0 to BDSM in a big rush and along with it we lost the intensity that this couple evoked. This series obviously isn't for me - the main characters have a significant age gap, that wasn't an issue for me until the author kept bringing it up over and over until I felt a little creeped out on behalf of the pair.

Sometimes in a D/s book I find it hard to connect to the characters because of the dynamic in the bedroom - the author is often required to tell us how the sub is feeling and that they're enjoying themselves as the visual telling of the scene may indicate otherwise.

Master Adam did not disappoint, he was an 'idiot' at times but he finally pulled his head out of his ass! Wow! Read this book ages ago but when I saw that Kallypso had new book coming out about Damian I just had to re-read the whole series over again. Think Adam is my favourite. When I read it the first time I thought the age difference was a bit too much but on re-reading it I can see how mature Karla is. Really great book and thank god it is Saturday and no work so that I can check out the new book straight away.

I feel like it has to be me, because everyone else loved this and I also gave the prequel in Masters at Arms 5 stars (it's a must read and FREE). I was so excited for Adam and Kayla's story, but it just fell totally flat for me. "I'm so sorry. No I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. He loves me. He loves me not. I love her. I'm incapable of love. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." AAAAAH, SHUT UP!!! So there is the repetition.

Then there's the fact that I think Kayla was more emotionally mature in the preq I feel like it has to be me, because everyone else loved this and I also gave the prequel in Masters at Arms 5 stars (it's a must read and FREE). Then there's the fact that I think Kayla was more emotionally mature in the prequel when she was 16. I get that she loves Adam and wants to be with him, but I had a really hard time respecting her when she constantly let herself get walked all over. It was kind of pathetic. And she saved herself for him? Really?! I find that hard to believe when she hadn't even seen him since she was 16 and wouldn't have gone to him if not for what happened with Ian. It's fine that she's been in love with him forever but I would preferred if she had lived her life and gotten experience and then went to get her man. She was just so inexperienced, and I'm sure there are 25 year-old virgins out there somewhere... but yeah, it didn't work for me.

Now to Adam. What a hypocritical and oblivious ass. He was so sweet in the first one, but in this one he completely puts his needs above hers at every turn, even though he acted like he wasn't. (view spoiler) They never had a conversation about hard limits or anything. And I'm sorry, but it totally ruined sex scenes for me to have her constantly saying "Ow!" Just because you end up making her have an orgasm doesn't mean she enjoyed all of it, and she flat out said "I don't like pain" but he kept doing it anyway. That really pissed me off. So near the end I was just skipping the sex scenes.

Oh and sure Adam you didn't love your wife... you nearly blew your brains out when she died, but no no no, you didn't love her. Is anyone really this emotionally stunted?

And don't even get me started on the emotional misunderstandings. First of all, can a 50 year old man who was married and now is a good and attentive Dom, be so completely oblivious to people's emotions and underlying insecurities/feelings? Maybe if you guys had had one freakin discussion instead of just sex, sex, sex, this would have resolved itself. But no, we'll just wait for one of our many life-or-death situation to occur and thrust us into relationship development. (view spoiler) Uhg I'm just so disappointed. Of course they teased us with Damian and Savi for the next book, Nobody's Perfect, and I know the basic story will be good. The problem is that Kallypso Masters will drag it out and put them in obscene situations to heighten the drama.. and it will just piss me off.
