When she gets to college, she easily makes friends, boyfriends, and loves life. For once in her life, she adores the person she has become.
Enter Campbell Boyd—the attraction between them is instant. He is sexy as hell. Sweet, romantic, flirty. He definitely knows how to treat a woman in and out of the bedroom. Once he has his sights set on Kenz, there is nothing that will stand in his way. Or maybe there is something that could ruin it all? One small detail that Kenz tries desperately to ignore—one that can only be swept under the rug for so long.
What happens when the past and present collide and secrets are revealed? Is it possible to forgive or will it destroy them both? One thing’s for sure—things are going to change.
Heather Dahlgren writes Contemporary Romance, sprinkling each book with a bit of humor, a lot of naughty and true love. She self-published her first book in 2014 and continues to do so today. Her over active mind promises the stories are in no short supply.
Heather grew up and still resides at the Jersey shore. She loves being so close to the Atlantic Ocean and the Pine Barrens. She is surrounded by the best of both worlds.
She is married to her high school sweetheart and has three kids. There is nothing more important in the world to her then her family.
When Heather isn’t writing you can find her getting lost in a great book, spending time with family and helping her fellow authors.
Alright y’all, look out! Heather Dahlgren is comin’ in hot with her debut novel. This book was absolutely bloody fabulous – I adored every single page and was left begging for more of this gang when I was done! No seriously, I know you think I’m kidding, but I’m dead serious. I pleaded with her like my life depended on it until she let me beta read the second book in The Changed Series. Which happened to be that same day (Ha!) and may I add, it is HAWT! (With a W, because we all know that’s hotter than with an O y’all). The characters in this book are relatable and real, you feel like you’re a part of everything they do, it’s positively perfect!
“He melts my heart and wets my panties. I look forward to more of both.”
Do you like sweets? Because I do; I like all of them, literally any kid of sweets I can get my hands on (It’s kind of a problem actually). Well… back to my point… if you do, then Campbell Boyd is going to seriously satisfy your sweet tooth and then some! Not only is he absolutely lickable (yes, that’s right, lickable!), he’s also so frickin’ cute I can barely handle it. He is romantic, doting and dynamite in the sac! Don’t even try to deny it ladies; y’all love a man who can dirty talk! And Campbell has roommates, oh yes… two to be exact and you’re going to want Dick and Young just as bad!
"Your smile makes me weak in the knees. I am feeling all of this and I've only met you one time. It's unreal. I have never felt this way about anyone before."
Kennedy ‘Kenz’ Greene, aka ‘Red’ is wonderful! She really does change herself, fitting the books title remarkably well. After an adolescence of nothing but bullying and not fitting in, she goes to college and takes the bull by the horns, making her life into something she loves. Everything Kenz overcomes and goes through is believable and that makes her all the move loveable. She is flanked by her two best friends Maddie and Becca who are delightful!
"I need to make my girl come. That's right, I called her my girl. I am falling for her and fast."
This book proves that high school isn’t everything, it doesn’t define who you are and people can change. It’s the perfect atmosphere of great friends, a little truth or dare (okay… a lot of truth or dare. Hehe) and a beautiful romance! It reminded me a lot of the TV Show friends – the group in this book is a riot, don’t be the one who missed out by not reading it!
Kenz had the worst high school experience ever. Not having any friends to lean on and constantly bullied it made her life a living hell. When she graduated she wanted a change, she promised herself she would never be that weak girl again. One night out with her friends she meets Campbell.
Campbell is hot as hell, he is such a sweetheart and all the girls want him. When he sees Kenz he has to have her. Kenz knows they have a connection but has to get out of there. He might not remember but Kenz does...he is one of the bullies who ruined her life.
After finally deciding to let it go Campbell's friend show up they get to see Kenz and the big secret is out! Can Kenz forgive Campbell after he finally knows the truth? Can Campbell believe wheat he is hearing? Can people really change or is it just a act to full you again?
The plot twists a incredible you won't be able to put it down! You will be drawn in from the first page. This book had it all and so many emotions! Romance, angst, love, bulling, hot as hell sex. Reading this book was like a breathe of fresh air, it's not like every book out there!

I was really looking forward to reading Changed by Heather Dahlgren. Thank you Heather, I really enjoyed it!
Kennedy Greene had a hard time in high school and was always being bullied, so when she graduated and went to college, she started the life she had always wanted. She completely changed her look, made new friends, and even started dating. Her life was finally on the path she had always dreamed of until one night at a bar with two of her girlfriends. Maddie and Becca had set their sights on one nice piece of eye candy. Only Kennedy shortly realizes that the eye candy is no stranger to her past. Kenz does all that she can to forget about seeing him but when she runs into him again, she can't keep him off her mind.
Campbell Boyd spots Kenz across the bar and instantly is attracted to her. Shortly after seeing her, he buys a round of drinks for Kenz and her friends as they all sit around and talk. After a while, Kenz runs off and Campbell can't figure out what went wrong because he thought that they had a connection. In a desperate haste, Campbell gives his number to Becca asking her to tell Kenz to please call him. Well, the call never comes and he doesn't hear from her until he see's her one night unexpectedly.
After they run into each other again, Campbell won't give up on his chance with Kenz so he asked her on a date. Kenz at first hesitates, but after talking to Maddie, she decides to let her wall down and said yes to Campbell. Kenz and Campbell go on their first date and there are immediate fire works! After they start dating, Kenz, Maddie, and Becca become good friends with Campbell and his two roommates, Young and Dick. They all start hanging out together and are consistently at each others apartments. Kenz and Campbell's relationship is going good but Kenz has a secret that she hasn't told Campbell about. She knows she has to tell him the truth about her past but she keeps putting it off. Unexpectantly, Kenz past is right in front of her face and everything falls apart. Her secret is out and Campbell can't believe that she would hold that information from him. Now they are both hurting and fighting for their relationship. Will they get past the lies and get their relationship back or will they lose one another because Kenz was not honest from the beginning?
One of the things that made me laugh all the time was that they would play 'Truth or Dare" at home or out at the bar. It was hilarious some of the things they had to do. It made me want to go back and start playing that game again. LOL.. I really liked the relationship between all the characters and how they all grew to really love and care about each other. I'm looking forward to the next book to see where Kenz and Campbells relationship goes from here. Also, it sounds like another relationship from these friends is in the works so I'm looking forward to reading about that as well.
Congratulations to Heather on her debut novel! A great start to a good series!

How many of you wanted to re-invent yourself into the person you always wanted to be and have taken the opportunity to do it, either after high school or college? *raises hand* If that describes you too, you may empathize with Kenz. I really enjoyed the premise of the book- anyone who was ever on the outside looking in during their high school years can appreciate Kenz's experience, and being bullied makes the situation so much worse.
When Kenz and Campbell meet a few years after graduating high school, she realizes who he is but he doesn't recognize her at all. She initially freaks out and runs off but he doesn't intend to let her get away that easily without getting a chance to get to know her. Her friends talk her into giving him a chance but Kenz doesn't share her real reason for her concerns with anyone. She is ashamed that she let people treat her that way and she doesn't want to relive the experience by sharing it with her roommates and besties Becca and Maddie. She lies to Campbell about where she grew up and so it begins.
I loved the group dynamic between Kenz and her girls and Campbell and his boys Young and Dick, especially when they all get together. At the risk of dating myself, it had a real "Friends" kind of feel to it.
A few things that didn't work so well for me:
Campbell calls Kenz "beautiful" as a pet name. That in itself is fine but at one point in the first half of the book I felt like it was in every other line and it became pretty distracting.
Campbell was a jock and a bully in high school. The whole theme of this story is that people can and do change, and even though he showed no evidence of those behaviors in the book, I felt like I was reading about someone completely different. When he was with the boys, he was joking, teasing and generally acting like a guy. With Kenz, he made some very flowery speeches and generally poured his guts out fairly frequently- I am surprised his boys didn't revoke his man card because of it.
Overall, I thought this was a great debut effort for the author and I am curious to see what she brings us next! 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4)
We all experience high school differently. Some are popular, others aren’t. Some are cheerleaders, others are simple students, set on having the shot at a good career, on the long run. Some are bullies, others are the bullied. Kenz Greene wasn’t popular. She wasn’t a cheerleader part of the ‘It’ group, clique. She also wasn’t a bully but the bullied. For four long years all she wanted was to be invisible so she wouldn’t be bullied and harassed by the high school jerks and assholes. All she wanted was to graduate. And she did. She finally got there and decided to get a total make-over. But not just a physical make-over but an emotional one too. She changed her entire personality because she thought she was bullied because she was weak. She didn’t stand up for herself, being afraid. She changed all that.
She met Campbell Boyd and the attraction was instant. She wouldn’t give the time of day to any guy but as soon as she saw Campbell in a bar, while out with her two best friends and roommates, boom, she was in lust. But Campbell was a major blast from the past she didn’t want or need, thinking she would turn back into her former self.
Now, the attraction I get, the chemistry but it seemed like things were moving a little bit fast for me. And no, I am not talking about sex but on an emotional level. I felt that the characters didn’t really get to know one another before having feelings for each other. But that’s just me. I couldn’t really connect with them but that was okay, I still liked the story, I liked the side characters, the best friends, the gang. We get glimpses of different things regarding these minor characters and it got me curious to get to know them more, hence why I will be reading the following books in the series.
It’s a fast read, it has funny scenes, hot ones – Campbell is a dirty talker – and I’m sure the things that didn’t do it for me are other people’s cup of tea. 3 ½ - 4 stars.

Not all of us had the ideal high school experience where the laughter was plentiful the friends endless and it was a time full of firsts. This was the case with Kennedy. Kennedy was the one always being bullied and on the receiving end of endless cruel jokes. Upon graduating high school Kennedy vows to make a change; not only in her appearance but in the way she thinks of herself as well; she is done playing the willing victim. Kennedy successfully manages to do these things in college she has great friends and has finally started to see herself in a new light. One night brings all those unwanted feelings back. Campbell is s handsome man and he knows it while he can have any girl he wants he is still in search of “the one”. He thinks he may have found her when him and his friends go out to a bar and a beautiful woman with red hair and stunning eyes looks at him from across the bar and literally makes his heart skip a beat. When he goes over to try and get to know her everything seems fine until he brings up high school football and his lovely beauty bolts like the place is on fire. Campbell has no idea what he said or did to make this happen but is determined to find her and win her heart. Kennedy was totally into the hot guy that walked into the bar he made her feel things she never has before. When she finds out that the hot guy she was drooling over once made her high school life completely miserable she runs not wanting to ever feel that way again. Campbell finally gets his chance to speak to Kennedy and try and see where their relationship can go. Will Kennedy be able to let go of the past and try and make a go of this thing she feels for Campbell? Will Campbell still have the same feelings for Kennedy when he realizes just who she is? Or will tragedy strike one of them before they ever get the chance to figure anything out?
After an unfathomable high school existence being bullied, Kennedy “Kenz” Greene takes the opportunity after graduation to reinvent herself both physically and mentally. She changed herself into a strong, determined young woman, committed to protecting herself from ever being hurt again like she was back in high school.
When she first meets Campbell Boyd, she feels strongly attracted to him but then realizes he’s actually someone from the past she’s worked so hard to escape-though he doesn’t know it. But the attraction between them overcomes her doubts, leading to the two becoming inseparable and many steamy scenes along the way (oh yes, definitely an 18+ read and you’ll get a lot of dirty talking with those scenes as well). Since I don’t want to give away too much, I’ll say that you’ll get the eventual big conflict, followed by a lot of crazy excitement before the resolution.
I thought the premise for this story was great…there’s a lot of people out there that can identify with what Kenz went through, so seeing her rise above that is quite significant and will show that you don’t have to be a victim. I personally thought the relationship between Kenz and Campbell went a bit fast-including their declarations to each other. I really liked their group of friends, especially Young with his raunchy, funny attitude…though Maddie’s bitchy ways sometimes were annoying.
Overall it was a good, quick read, though I found the writing to not flow very smoothly due to the quick chapter changes (which usually happened when the character point of view changed). The other thing that I thought was a bit unnecessary was the amount of cursing throughout the book both spoken and in the characters’ thoughts. It was a bit excessive and didn’t really add to the story (yes, cursing does add to stories when it is showing depth of emotion, but the level here was more than what was necessary to tell the tale).
I’d really like to read the other characters’ stories, especially Young’s as he was the most fun of the group.
This book was all telling and no showing, I couldn't connect with it at all.
The biggest problems:
**Insta-love. Campbell and Kenz (BTW that nickname is horrid) meet, talk for 5 minutes, she recognizes him as one of her bullies from high school and she runs out. But from this super short conversation, Campbell cannot get her out of his mind and thinks about her nonstop. Then after one date, they're in love.
**Cheesy dialogue. Really cheesy and completely unrealistic. No one talks this way. Ever. Especially 20-something college guys. I couldn't get past the insipid conversations to get emotionally involved. My favorite: Campbell tells Kenz that she's so special and deserves to be treated like a lady and the next moment he's thinking about how great it will feel when he's f***ing her p***y. Um, ok.
**The swearing. Swearing does not bother me in a book, but here it was just so much and and weirdly inserted. Even the character's inner thoughts were riddled with f-bombs, it was off-putting. It reminded me of "Wanted" by Kelly Elliot. Almost every book I read includes swearing, but it rarely bothers me like this one.
**While it wasn't riddled with typos, there were enough to be noticeable (lite instead of light, your instead of you're, shuttering instead of shuddering, thing instead of this...), and since there was an editor thanked at the end I had higher expectations.
**For such a short book there were a lot (too many) of sex scenes and they were pretty much all the same, I got bored.
**The big conflict between Campbell and Kenz was kind of anti-climatic, so the requisite "woman-in-peril" scene was inserted for more conflict, and we see a minor character go from normal guy to psychopathic rapist. Um, what? Then we go to the hospital where every conversation with a doctor/nurse makes General Hospital seem like Johns Hopkins.
Other than the fact that it was a freebie, I can't find anything about it to recommend.
I had the pleasure of being a beta on this project. I can not tell you how excited I was to read Heathers first book. I've watched her cross so many milestones for the first time on this journey and I'm so incredibly proud of her. Now... You want to know what I thought about Changed? Heather has done an a amazing job of creating a great story line that's so believable, the whole time I felt like someone was really telling me about real life experiences. The plot twists are incredible, you won't be able to put it down. The characters, ugh I LOVE them all!! They are all so unique and they all fit together perfectly!! You'll have sweet, caring, sexy, funny, bitchy, goofy, quiet, secretive, hot individuals and she gives you just enough of some of them to drive you crazy wondering what's next and what's going on in her mind. I'm so excited to keep celebrating each milestone with you Heather, you've done such a wonderful job it's hard to believe this is your first book!! Can't wait for the rest of the series!!
Kenzi bullied throughout her school life decides enough is enough and reinvens herself for her college years.
New wardrobe hair and confidence her life changes.
Into her life walks her future Campbell and its love at first sight, but after realization of who he is can she tell him hes one of the people who made her life miserable for years, he doesn't recognise the before Kenzi just the gorgeous here and now Kenzi.
Its a romantic read a little sickly sometimes as Campbell calls her beautiful and other endearments at every opportunity, he worships the ground Kenzi walks on.
Its a story friendships, findng the one and shows how people change as they go through different chapters of their lives.
Almost dnf - the writing was ok. The convo's felt stilted and nothing really happened. It was an "in between books" book and i really liked the premise but it just didn't hit like i was hoping it would
I loved this book! the characters are great and I really enjoyed the story! Campbell is such a sweetheart. I will definitely read more from Heather! :)
We start out meeting Kennedy, a young girl in high school that has been bullied and tortured by all the popular kids for years. Kennedy decides upon graduation she will change her looks by losing weight and make other physical changes to start fresh in college and never deal with bullies again. She goes off to college a new person where nobody knows about her tortured high school days. She lives with her two best friends she met in college, Maddie and Becca. One night the girls go out for drinks to catch up with each other. Kennedy, also known to her friends as Kenz, instantly has eyes for Campbell, AKA Mr Gorgeous when she spots him across the room with his friends. He and his friends join the girls by buying them drinks.
“Mr Gorgeous is laughing at whatever his buddies are saying. I literally can’t take my eyes off of him. This is crazy. I have never felt like this.”
Kenz and Campbell hit it off as they talk until she realizes they went to high school together. Campbell was one of the star football players who bullied her with his popular jock friends. Kenz decides to give Campbell a chance since he had not recognized her, she keeps her identity a secret hoping he does not find out.
Campbell convinces Kenz to go on a date with him in which she agrees. Sparks fly and these two are inseparable and hot for each other. There is definitely some steamy hot sex scenes. Campbell is sweet, charming and oh my, so sexy!!!
“Your smile makes me weak in the knees. I am feeling all of this and I’ve only met you one time. It’s unreal. I have never felt this way about anyone before.”
“I need to make my girl come. That’s right, I called her my girl. I am falling for her and fast.”
Campbell and Kenz’s roommates become great friends and love to hang out together. Their roommates are funny and entertaining with their stories and truth or dare games.
This was a light easy read from the first page. I read this in one sitting and enjoyed the storyline as well as the characters. This is a 5 star read for me and I hope others enjoy reading it as well. Campbell is one swoonworthy fella!
This is book 1 in the Change series. There is no cliffhanger as this can be read as a stand alone.
An amazing debut by a new author! Kept me turning the pages.
Changed by Heather Dahlgren was a wonderful book. The title is fitting as the main character, Kennedy (Kenz), changed herself – her change from what and who she was in high school to what and who she is in college is akin to a caterpillar changing into a butterfly. Nobody would easily realize that the new Kenz is the one they knew in high school. Although Kenz has changed a lot, the irony of it is that she doesn’t accept that others could change as she did.
Kenz and her roommates meet Campbell and his roommates at a bar. Kenz and Campbell seem to really hit it off until Kenz suddenly leaves the bar without warning. Even though she has Campbell’s phone number and really liked him, she chooses to not pursue a possible relationship with him. However, fate has something different in store for Kenz – people are moving into the vacant apartment across the way, and surprise, it is Campbell and his roommates. This chance encounter causes something to click with Kenz, and even though her past is telling her she shouldn’t look twice at Campbell, her heart is telling her that she should. What secret does Kenz hold? Will she reveal her secret to Campbell?
Ms. Dahlgren does a spectacular job with the development of unique characters that all have different personalities ranging from sweet and sensitive, secretive, goofy, and romantic and protective. The secondary characters (the roommates of both Kenz and Campbell) mesh well with the main characters and support the story line rather than detract from it.
Changed is full of funny moments, romantic moments, steamy scenes, angst, sadness, and love. Ms. Dahlgren not only has her characters experience a wide range of emotions, but develops a bond between her readers and the characters so they are feeling the same things the characters are feeling. I am not ashamed to admit there are parts that made me cry, just as there were parts that filled me with joy and made me laugh.
I cannot wait to see if Ms. Dahlgren releases more books that tell the stories of the roommates. I would enjoy getting to know more about Young, Maddie, Becca, and Dick. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
This story is something a lot of people can relate to. At least people like me! I loved the ugly duckling becoming the unrecognizable swan! I know it had been done many times before but the way Heather Dahlgren has done it just makes it so much better!
We meet Kenz who works hard to be who she wasn't now that she is out on her own in college. She has friends, she has boyfriends and she likes school. All three things were a no go when she was back home in High School where it was games of 'who can make Kenz the most miserable' that made her classmates day. Her life was essentially perfect now with her 'Changed' self.
Then walks in Campbell Boyd. She was instantly attracted to him and was happy to become even more acquainted with him.. until she realized he was one of her main tormentors in 'destroy Kenz's life' games. As soon as she realizes who he is she pulls a Cinderella and vanishes. Only she doesn't leave a shoe she leaves her best friend who is happy to let him know her number.
Campbell is enthralled with Kenz. He doesn't understand why she flew out of the bar like she did and wants to see her again. He puts all his energy and draws out all his charm to capture and keep Kenz for good. He knows what he wants and he wont stop until he has her.
The past can only be kept hidden for so long and when it is brought to light will Kenz and Campbell be able to handle it?
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review
Kennedy was bullied in high school really badly. So when she left for college she reinvented herself and vowed NEVER to let anyone bully her again. And she succeeds in pushing her past to the past and moving forward, until she meets Campbell. No I shouldn't say meets him, she has already met him, in high school where he would bully her or laugh at the cheerleaders who would bully her.
Some how Kennedy is able to look past it all and move forward with Campbell. Their relationship on the emotional level is very quick and that bothered me. I felt like they weren't given enough time to actually get to know each other. It felt rushed, not forced, but rushed like time was running out or there were only so many pages could be typed.
I liked the chemistry between Campbell and Kenz, but I wanted more time. Campbell is so sweet and isn't the kid he was in high school any more, he has changed and for the better. I could feel the love between them.
This is a quick sweet read and the secondary characters are just as likable as the primary characters! I hope Young has a story soon! He is a riot and stole the show sometimes!!
This was a great book! The title Changed is very fitting because that is what it is about, how people change. I loved the main character Kenz, she is really strong and I felt for her throughout the book. Horribly bullied in HS Kenz transforms herself into a new person when she enters college. On a night out she is instantly attracted to a guy she meets at a bar, then she recognizes who he is and apprehension sets in, however the attraction is undeniable. Loved Campbell, he is a dreamy, sweet, super romantic, protective guy, everything you would want in a boyfriend, he was perfect for Kenz and then it all seems to fall apart, or does it? ;) There was a great group of secondary characters, totally loveable, the perfect bunch of friends, really enjoyed the scenes when they all hung out together and I hope they all get their own book. This book had it all, funny moments, really super hot sex scenes, romance, angst, love,...a wide variety of emotions. A really great look at young love
Wow, this book was so good. I can’t believe this is Heather’s first book. The writing is superb, the editing was excellent, the storyline was fresh, new, and Hot. I was intrigued on page one all the way to the end. This book is fast paced but not overly fast. I think it was done perfectly. Kenz has a beautiful soul, she was bullied in high school and once she was done she made herself over, she then went off to college and she met her two best friend Maddie and Becca. OMG those 3 cracked me up. One night one a girls night out she they met Campbell, Young and Dick. Campbell and Kenz hit it off until she realize who he was. I don’t want to say much more, but this book is a MUST READ!!! Oh and there are some twist and turn and things that will have you saying OMG. This book made me laugh and cry. I love the closeness of the 6 friends. They were there for one another. This is one of the best debut novels that I’ve read in a long time. What Heather does is pure brilliant. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
A friend of mine has just written her first book, and I'm so proud of what she has achieved!! I really look forward to seeing her growth in books to come. I really enjoyed this!! It's a NA story, about college students Kenz and Campbell, and their motley crew of friends. Kenz has had a tough school life, and changed herself to be who she wanted to be for college. Campbell, is this hot guy that she connects with in a pub, until she realises that he had a part in her past. But, through the story, Kenz has to come to a realisation that others have the capacity to change too, for the better. Charming story, romantic and sweet alpha, hot sex scenes. I look forward to Young and Maddie's story next.
A brilliant first book for this author. Changed is about a group of friends trying to make there way in today's society. A perfect title for a great new and current story line. Sometimes as a teenager you can be cruel and do dirty rotten tricks on people and as you finally grow up you realize maybe I shouldn't have been that way or treated that person bad. In this book it gives you a since of hope that yes people do change and people finally realize that being that mean bully was not good. You will, laugh and cry in this book. I cant wait to read the next book from this author.
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for an honest opinion.
Kenz is a normal girl in high school, with the exception that she is bullied and has no friends. When she leaves and goes to college...she decides it is time to change. She isn't going to be that same girl anymore. She meets up with her room mate and they hit it off right away becoming fast friends. When Kenz meets Campbell, the pull between the two is strong. Kennedy has to make her way in her new life, and she wants to do that with Campbell. But will everything always be smooth sailing or will they both have to learn some lessons on trust and love? ~Chell
not really the best written book I've read. that being said I really liked the concept of the story. that worked for me. the relationship with all the characters was great. it's just the way it was executed. kind of robotic. doesn't flow as smoothly as it could. but it could be be worth your time.
I loved this book. I started reading this book and could not put it down. I love the prologue which helps understand the rest of the book. The interaction of Kenz and Campbell is awesome. It is full of emotions that happen to people in real life. Also love the other characters which help build on the rest of the book and future books.
Heather what an amazing story! This story pulled me in from the beginning! This story's characters are great! This story will definitely touch someone in Kenz shoes and let them know life is GOOD! A must read!
