Most intense read, ever!!

Angels... Angels... How can a word that sounds so nice, so peaceful, so serene, lose its meaning? How is it possible that the supposed to be good creatures are actually not? Instead they are punishing, maybe a bit cruel.

Dane Cobain did a majestic job by making a make-believe story like this. This book was put up as a horror story, but it's just kind of eerie and suspenseful. His writing style will pull you up and take you with it, I've almost forgotten that I'm

“Angel,” what comes to mind when you read that word? Chubby Cherubs? Perfectly sculpted beings with wings? Protectors, guardians, proof that there is a better place after death? Meet Dane Cobain’s angels and you will be in for the fright of your life, if you are fortunate enough to walk away. No Rest for the Wicked is going to

Angels. They are not what comes to your mind the very second you hear the word Angel. The guardian angel with a serene look or the cherubs with a halo – that is what you think, right? But Dane Cobain, the author, has other ideas.

In ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ Angels are not the patient and forgiving creatures we imagine. Instead they are hell bent on punishing every single sinner – no matter how big or small their sins are. The story is told through the two protagonists Father Montgomery and Robert

No Rest for the Wicked is a small book. If you're not familiar with novellas, you might be tempted to believe nothing much can happen in that short a space, but you would be wrong. Unlike so many novels that sprawl on and on just to reach their 80-100 thousand word quotas, this book goes in, tells the story, and gets out. There were never any times where I felt like I needed something explained more (and part of the book deals with the Large Hadron Collider, which is damn confusing as a ...more

***I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review***

Super intense! There wasn't a dull moment through the whole thing; I was constantly trying to look around the corner in front of characters, just knowing something was going to pop out. These angels are not your run-of-the-mill angels. No sweetness here! I thought the author did a really good job with his story telling and in the weaving of his world. The characters were quite good, and I enjoyed this all around. Kind of

This book was AMAZING. I had to get used to the English words for things, because I am in the US. But once I got used to that it was great. This book makes you think about what Angels are and what they are meant to do. Dane, I am so glad to know you and I didn't have to worry at all about reading your book. Nightfeare aka Melissa

This story was so different from what I had expected. It had me hesitating, even cautious. I'm not particularly a person of traditional religions, but I thought it was kind of refreshing that the Angels wasn't very nice as I know most people would define them.

That they considered themselves judge, jury and executioner. What them seem to me is that they are sin eaters. It's so chilling. I don't know why exactly but they made the hair on my arms to stand straight up. It is dark, grisly and had me

No Rest for the Wicked tells a story of good versus evil, in a uniquely different way. The story is great; suspenseful action mixed with love, family, friendship, and mystery. I loved how the story came together in the end; allowing readers to experience unconditional love through the ultimate sacrifice.

The story has an unusual, and hard to follow layout; I had to jump back chapters to double-check the dates throughout my reading. I like how the chapters told everyone’s story from in different

I sent out a "tweet" to ask for a book recommendation as I have been in a reading slump lately always reading the same thing over and over. I got a response from Dane Cobain to check out his book.

I am very excited that I was able to get his book for my Kindle at a great price. But mostly I was excited about the book.

Angles are thought to be these all loving beautiful creatures but what if we are wrong? What harm could they do to humanity? What would humanity do to help themselves, can they help

For sure a interesting read for me when "Angels" were quite judgmental and by judgmental I mean killing you since they love to hear your sins and feed off of them and they still pretty much your number is up if they find you. Quite a concept, really.

While I feel this could've been a tad longer it was still a satisfying stand alone. Would've liked a bit more into it. I did appreciate that you didn't need a degree in science to understand how they came to be. A nice simple scientific explanation

I honestly don't know what shelf to put this on. It has a fair bit of everything. It will be easy to spoil, so I'll try not to do that. But it's a really good story about consequences and how they will haunt you the whole of your life. Also, it's just a really well written book that draws you in, and makes you feel all the things.

Many thanks to the author, Dane Cobain, for giving me the opportunity to read his work in exchange for an honest review.

Dane Cobain writes a stunning story in the novel “No Rest for the Wicked”, one that delightfully betrays his gift for poetry and prose. For the reader that loves Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon novels, you’ll find yourself very comfortable in the world that Cobain creates. It is as tantalizing as it is suspenseful.

The premise of the story is haunting; mysterious beings known as

Science and Religion collide when researchers at the new CERN particle accelerator try to discover the elusive theoretical Boson-Higgs particle, aka the "God Particle." Despite the misnomer, the particle's existence has zero bearing on religion, nor does the research conducted prove or disprove or in any way relate to religion nor the existence of a deity. However, that's a repeated subtheme in the tale here, that somehow CERN research set about to disprove God.

This is not my usual genre of choice but this quirky novella is worth a read if you are looking for something a bit different and something short.

I liked the concise chapters and some of the sub plots although I did think some threads of the story were unnecessary due to the short length of the novella.

I wasn’t thrilled with the plot of the story but it did get me thinking about what we perceive as good and evil and how things aren’t always so black and white. The juxtaposition of science and

Horror has become the flavour of this month for me I guess. So, my third book chosen also evokes a deep sense of fear in me.

The bottom line of the story is that angels are not all sweet and sugary nice. They can be mean too. If I say that the plot deals with how angels ensure there is no rest for the wicked-natured, I won't be wrong.

Dane is a master storyteller. His words conjure up imageries that can scare and make you squirm. Language is basically meant for young adults and above. Hence this

Iiintersting synopsis. Not something I'd pick up and read in a normal circumstance because it isn't my usual genre but it still sounds intriguing.

Sounds very supernaturally though, (as in the TV series) which get's my attention a lot - obviously for the story and not Sam and Dean - so I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Not something I'd normally read but it has kept me intrigued from the start which a lot of romance novels have

Author Dane Cobain takes the genre of science fiction down an interesting sideroad in his novel, No Rest for the Wicked. We are talking about angels and celestial beings here, and the story takes turns that are not necessarily expected. This is not the easy-going cherubim story you might find in a grandmother's painting.

Like all of his books that I have encountered so far, Cobain writes in a clear way that keeps the pages turning. Even when providing what turns out to be a scientific background

I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Warning: Some of the descriptions are graphic and so not recommended for everyone.

I don’t usually read stories that contain angels or demons. But the premise of this one was different so I agreed to read and review it. These are not the angels we read about in the Bible. These angels are attacking humans. They are choosing who will die and in what horrific manner they will execute them. Enter our two heroes,

No Rest for the Wicked is based on an interesting intermingling of science and religion, playing with the theory voiced largely by religious fundamentalists: that there are things man is not meant to know and pushing those boundaries will result in divine retribution. Here, author Dane Cobain has worked in an interesting reversal; while experimentation has unleashed something, there's remarkably little divine about it—the only trace of the phenomenon calling themselves the Angels is a trail of ...more

Amazing novella. Story could come under a few genres. Horror. Suspense. Thriller. Sci fi. . I have to have a book grip me in the first few paragraphs. This certainly did. Full review at www.acreativelife.co.uk. Definitely a book to get. Excellent read

I was given a copy of No Rest for the Wicked by the author, Dane Cobain, in exchange for an honest review.

No Rest for the Wicked is a horror/fantasy novel centering around creatures of light that many have dubbed ‘Angels,’ who wander the earth and punish those they deem sinful. Caught up in the mess is Father Montgomery, a weathered priest, and his son, Robert Jones, who has no idea his oldest friend is also his father. The story is told through many points of view, and often incorporates

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.*

Overall, this was a great read for me and I can't say I have too many major complaints. I loved that, rather than being about a specific character going through something, this was more about the feelings and thoughts surrounding an ordeal that affected many people. There was the added bonus of being able to see the story unfold through a number of those eyes, from each angle vital to the progression of the plot. From what I

End of days type stories are definitely one of my favorite sub genres, but when I saw this book was about how angels try to destroy mankind in the name of righteousness I was very excited. I had never seen a book use something we associate as purely good, especially something biblical, and turn it into something we fear. And luckily this concept Cobain created seems very logical. Angels would be against sinners so who better than to take out said sinners? It's also pretty easy to make the ...more

The cover hints of a lot of things, death and something hidden somewhere. That my feeling when I look at it. No Rest For the Wicked was given to me by the author, after I have requested it from Bloggers Required.

The start was a little slow, the story flips between random beings, seeing them being taunted and killed by unknown beings that speak as one. It finally settles on Robert Jones, Father Montgomery and the bunch of things people call Angels.

Except these Angels are not nice and cherubic,

This book is about Angels. But don’t jump to the wrong conclusion! Angels don’t have to be good-natured, do they?

Dane Cobain is telling us a story about mysterious disappearances all over the world and rumours that Angels are responsible for them by picking out the sinners. Media and Newspapers are spreading the word about the disappearances and murders and panic is about to rise among the world population.

Is it a coincidence that just at the same time CERN, the European Organisation of Nuclear

No Rest for the Wicked by Dane Cobain is a supernatural novella about good and evil, albeit in a different form than readers would be used to.

Father Montgomery is a priest in his 60’s and has a secret past and when over 100,000 people worldwide disappear this is recorded this is put down as the work of the mysterious “Angels” and Montgomery, with the help of his friend and businessman Jones, has to do everything he can to protect his parish and the world.

This book was provided to me in return for an honest review, so without trying to spoil it, I will tell you exactly what I thought of this book.

First of all, it's a short and enjoyable book- there's no unnecessary pages and the story continues at an even pace. This is the kind of book that a busy person can read and enjoy themselves without spending too much time and especially as a medical student, I thought that was a plus point in itself. The concepts presented were also explained in simple
