I have been sitting with this book and review for over a week and part of me was waiting to see if my feelings would change for the story and these characters. Since it has not, here is my two cents that nobody asked for that I’m giving anyways.

Aroyal and Kaydence met in a pretty unconventional way. With a profession of a hired hit man, Aroyal has been taught to shoot first and never ask questions nor leave any witnesses behind. That all changes when he is called to complete a job and crosses paths with Kaydence. It doesn’t take long for the both of them to start doing things that are foreign all in the name of attraction and before long, they are joined at the hip.

The book is very fast paced and I honestly don’t mind that. When you can get to the point, get to it quickly. What I did have issues with were some of the details in the story and the fact that they were unnecessary.

From the estranged relationship with his sister without just cause to the secrets and lies that his father held close to the chest, I’m not sure what any of this really had to do with the story. It had the potential to add that shock factor (the father’s secrets) but the way it was written and what the sister knew but chose not to share was a bit bizarre.

Then we had various men that showed interest in Kay both past and present that seemed more like pesky mosquitoes than anything.

I’ve been a fan of Kennedy’s thus far however with the last two reads resulting in disappointment, I may put her on ice for a while.

Absolutely Love It!!!

Kennedy B never disappoints. Her male characters are so realistic with real dialogue that sounds like a man would say. As much as I love her alpha males, her MFC are the bomb. They’re strong, savvy and sassy without all of the ratchetness. I’m here for it! Aro was too cute as he worked through his feelings for Kaydence. The way she took her time and crafted their love was the best. However, it did not feel like a slow burn. It was perfectly paced and she ended it perfectly.

This story left me with more questions than answers and the tropes included were distracting AF from the central plot. I also don’t like when authors don’t elaborate or provide nuance. Overall this story was a decent read but the author didn’t really seem to have a solid direction in regard to our two main characters.

My first issue was the Ariya discourse from the first chapter we meet Aroyal he’s dogging his sister out calling her 90 types of dumb just being outright mean about her. We never get any other info other than she’s dumb, a follower hangs with hoes, and whatever other synonyms you can think of. Yet we never really see her doing anything. As an author you gotta justify the hate to me because EVERY member besides his mom had something bad to say about her. Like I get it she’s a bird but your “Bro” was just as foul. Like maybe he had more brain cells than her but he cheated on his fiancé with HER, then he’s talking down about her TO YOU. Like I’m sorry that’s your blood relative who low key got played and all you can do is call her dumb and hold her to a higher standard than that of your friend. He knew she was a bird cus he been around yall for ages so yeah explain it.

Next up the whole Kaydence wasn’t ready for a baby yet Aroyal is saying let the chips fall where they may???? Like huhhhh what sense does that make, especially when she’s not doing anything to protect or prevent it. If you say you not ready for something then as a woman DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. The inclusion of Tydal was pointless and Deandre popping up constantly just revealed that she lacked boundaries. You hate this man but won’t block him??? Also Aro showed he was a lil inconsistent before the sex so for her to be mad after because he was back to disappearing like before blew me. She’s shown to be an over thinker and under communicator which Blows me lol like don’t emphasize a characters age if they gonna act childish instead of speaking up for themselves. You miss a man and wanna see him say that via text or over a call but instead you leaving it up to him?? Girl please

On to my biggest gripe the gay daddy affair plot that ties back to Ariya. Like the man is gay yet he claimed to love your mom as soon as he saw her ??? Then he’s sleeping with his daughters man or ex and you let him live for the sake of your mom?? Like sorry this isn’t making a lick of sense and really could’ve been excluded. I’m sorry this entire scenario was a mess, it wasn’t well written it didn’t unfold in a timely nor sensible manner. Like we 93% through and now all of this is occurring like please we could’ve skipped this. Also you killed a man in the middle of the day at a country club and want me to believe you just strolling around worry free. Why would the author say he’s protected cus his family name YET NOTHING CAME OF IT like Big Papa Ducati don’t wonder where the hell his son at ??? Like Wtf man

Clutch.

Consistent.

Doesn’t miss.

The many ways I can describe Kennedy’s work. From their introduction to each other I knew I would love Aro and Kay. Who meets that way?!

Man the way this author’s mind works! And I love it. The uniqueness of the meet-cute and the chemistry that was so evident. I really loved their story, now the side drama was interesting. But bits of it fell off for me and didn’t seem as flushed out. Plus what happened with Khal’s home boy? Did she turn him down after the lunch? Since she walked out alone.

And heck yea I want Bry to get a story. He deserves better than Ariya’s raggedy behind. I kept waiting for the moment she showed some maturity. But nah! Also, her actions with the blackmail didn’t make sense; which further confused me about that portion of the story. And yet it was aligned with how she was described throughout the story. Childish.

Kennedy please give us Bry next! I want to see him and Riley loved on.

Imagine watching 2 people get unalived in front of you and the unaliver spares you. Aroyal couldn’t have taken Kaydence’s life even if he tried. Something happened that night when Aroyal saw Kaydence and he was determined to figure out what.

Aroyal hacked her phone and turned on her location so he could track her and know where she was at all times. The man was mean af and the only person he softened up for was Kaydence. The way things started between them, they should have been nothing more than strangers. Instead, they went from friends, to…. You gon have to read and find out.

All I can say is watching them learn, build and grow together was beautiful. Kaydence didn’t play with Aroyal at all. She made him stand on his words and his truth. To know she could bring out things and feelings NO one has ever been able to do was everything. She handled him in the best way and he handled her with the softest, roughest, meanest and most loving way.

Go read this now. You will not be disappointed. Miss Kennedy did her BIG ONE when she made Aroyal.

my book husband

Whew! Did I just find another book husband?! 🤔 I think I did but Aroyal was everything…yeah, he sent people to the upper room but he didn’t do with with Kaydence 😂🤭 He simply knew what he wanted at first glance and didn’t stop until he got her. This is my first Kennedy B. read and it’s not gonna be my last.

sooo good

This was my first read by this author, and it won’t be my last. It was so well written and kept my attention the entire time. Aroyal was everythingggg. I loved most of these characters (except the obvious ones), but identified with Kaydence on a personal level. What she was experiencing in this book, I went through the exact same last year. I wish I could’ve read this book then.

Excelling in multiple industries and having many skill sets but lacking purpose and passion is one of the most annoying problems to have. As a physicist, I’ve worked in so many different settings and even earned other STEM degrees at a higher level, just to still be aimless. At that time, no one could relate, and I couldn’t even put what I was feeling into words. It felt invalidating and ridiculous at the same time. This authored summed it up perfectly!

Good story

Overall I liked the story the two main characters held my attention but some of the side characters were questionable. None of their actions made sense. Like why was Bry not capable of handling his own business, Aro’s dad really and his sister Ariya her behavior just gave weird vibes from the jump especially if the came from the type of family they had. Aro was a killer but he was messy with it especially the last two. His call was the last one to the phone technically he should have been suspect number 1 and then the hotel? Me reading all of these book with street thugs and killers made Aro look somewhat of an amateur but it’s fiction so it gets a pass. In any event the story was worth the read.

Story telling vs writing a book.
I felt like I was listening to someone tell me a story I didn’t really care about but I knew the tea was coming…eventually.

Aro is a hitman that falls in love at first sight. He has a tumultuous relationship with him BM tracee for not making their son a priority but lower Ash was always with Aro’s mama.
Ariya, okay, we get it but like it just doesn’t land. Did she actually trap Bry? She was drinking ?!? For there to be so much discourse and sustain about her there should have been more backstory or more instances so we can see how bad off she really is.
The 💩 hits the proverbial fan around 93% andthe prologue starts around 97%.

Where did tidal go? Deandre?
We harped on the mother speaking Spanish then she spoke English not even Spanglish.

Aroyal + Kaydence

I love their names. Super cute!

I like a mean ninja 🥷🏿... Aro and his smart mouth kept me entertained. This was my first book by Kennedy B but I wish I had started with What Would You Miss because Cova & Khal are mentioned a lot in the story. I also feel like I missed a lot of back story because some things had zero significance to the story. Like Ariyah and everyone's disdain for her, the Daddy & Nick, the Uncle, DeAndre should have been more of a problem and why didn't Khal's friend walk her to her car cause that should/could have been an added layer to the story.

Overall, it was an OK read! 2.75 stars.

just okay

A serial killer calling someone else a serial killer is hilarious. Aro talked about his baby mama never having his son but he didn’t have him half the time either. I feel like all the drama in the book had no reason or explanation. It just was. The end got super dramatic and Aro did way too much to protect his mother’s feelings instead of just keeping it real. I felt like his sister deserved some more grace. Knowing what she knew was probably really hard on her.

The writing was very repetitive and choppy. Too much of chortle or cackle. Also saying washroom instead of bathroom was weird. Some things were inconsistent.

A Shooter & His Songbird 🎯🎶

This was such a cute lil read! Kay pulled up just trying to lay some tracks, and Aro? He was there on businessbut baby, they messed around and found forever 😍

Now listen… Aro’s family members (sister and Dad)?! Ghettooo. His sister and daddy had me *heated*, and don’t even get me started on that bitter BM 🙄 But through all the chaos, Aro and Kay stayed locked in. No extra back and forth, no dragged out drama, just real love with a little edge.

10/10 recommend if you like a fast, drama-filled ride that still gives you that sweet happy ending 💕✨

This was honestly a boring read to me. I got to 71% and nothing has happened. There is no climax, no drama, and a whole lot of repetitiveness. ATP Aroyal has already admitted his feelings, but he’s still questioning why he’s doing certain things? And then all he really does is kill ppl, what is his plans for the future, does he have anything else going for him? TBH he doesn’t spend anytime for real with his son either. He seems to be with his grandparents more than anyone to me. I’m not gonna finish this, like I said it was just boring.

Nice very nice

This standalone is so lit. Now, what are the odds of them falling in love from the way they met. U need to do a book with krim, and I would love an update on all of them. My dude had to get himself together to show that love cause he had never had that before. I'm so happy for them. And his father really i thought he was gonna pop his a** too 😆. U did good on yet another book and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read.

interference

Aroyal was quite the character. He was smitten by Kay from day 1. It always strikes me as odd when a person claims to be neutral but chooses a side. He definitely chose Bry over Ariya and I get it her personality was jacked up but seems like she should been off limits to someone you call a brother. With that being said it would be interesting to see Bryshere’s story.

Anything Kennedy B. is my favorite!

Read this overnight and couldn't put it down to go to sleep. Kaydence and Aroyal are the cutest, they were so down bad for each other. Chile the dad needed to also hit his maker for playing in his wife's face like that. That was one of the things I didn't agree with was not telling the mom about the dad because clearly he wasn't using protection and could have given her something. Anyway I can't wait to read more from Kennedy!

cute story

This was a cute story. I was a little confused through the first couple of chapters because i kept feeling like i was missing something related to Kays family. Then realized her cousin has a book before this one. Also wish there was more of a plot. The stuff with Aros family wrapped up in the last 20 pages leaving the test of the book feeling flat. But i enjoyed the characters enough to give it 4 stars.

it was ok

It was an ok hood read. The whole book from beginning to end, I felt like I was missing something, or something needed to happen which kinda leaves me unsatisfied but it was ok. The end felt rushed, the FMC was flat, there was a thin plot with a shocking revelation but it was out of left field. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the FMC/MMCs relationship but I digress.

In all I read it all, I didn’t skim, but I wouldn’t read it again and I’m not interested in the next.

Interference

Aroyal is that guy. He is sexy, handsome, and cold-blooded killer. Sent to kill someone for Brysheer, he happens upon Kaydence. Leaving her alive means he has to make sure she doesn't talk. Aro never knew that she would become his peace amongst the chaos. Between his dad, baby mama, and sister, Aro has a lot on his shoulders. Kay makes the load easier to carry.

Great story with lots of family drama.

Good read!

I started this book and lost my whole library. I scrolled across it recently and I’m so happy I did. I wasn’t sure about Aroyal’s crazy ssa in the beginning but he grew on me. I loved the way he loved on Kay they were so cute together. I feel like a lot of pieces were missing like maybe i should’ve read another book before reading this one but overall good read.

This kind of crazy, I want some of it. How you witness a whole killing and then fall in love with the man, who is so unhinged, and he is now your baby daddy. Aro fell head of hills for Kay, and I love it, I wished she would have figured out what she wants to do, but guess, for now, she is happy with what it is..

Great characters. 😀

I love this author's writing style. Once again I was not disappointed. Aroyal and Kaydence's story was wonderful. I love how they met. I thought it was so funny. There are some surprises in here. I didn't see that coming. Once again it is my pleasure to read your books 🥰.

So good

Aroyal & Kaydence! On page one, this story had me! What I loved was how Kaydence actually questioned Aroyal in the beginning. Love at first sight for him, slow burn for her. It's a good story. She changed his heart!

Aroyal and Kaydence met unconventionally but all it took was one look for Aro to be hooked. This was a sweet romance but I was equally tuned into the family drama. We definitely need Byrsheer’s story.

This book was sooo good. I loved how we got to see how aro was conflicted about his emotions but I also loved how Kaydence stood her ground because she knew what she wanted, needed & expected. I do wonder what ever happened to Tydal 😂
