This collection is full to the brim of swashbuckling, dangerous pirates, beautiful fair maidens and enchanting elopements. These bold buccaneers don’t stop until they get what they want, and the damsels in distress may be more captivated than captured. As the old superstition goes, a woman on board a ship is unlucky, but a naked woman ‘calms the sea’ and the heart of her hero.
Right of Salvage by Ashe Barker
He pulled her from the sea, breathed life back into her, and now she belongs to him. By right of salvage.
A passenger on a merchant ship carrying her husband’s cargo between the New World and Portsmouth, Jane Browne is unprepared for the devastating attraction she feels towards the fierce pirate who decides to relieve her husband of his goods. And his wife. Hurled into the sea by her violent husband in an act of spiteful, jealous revenge, Jane is rescued by the handsome pirate captain, who declares that she is now his property.
Jane has no choice but to accompany Captain Rob Hawke. With Jane installed on his ship and in his bed, he demands her total obedience and her willing submission. Frightened and alone, Jane nevertheless responds quickly to her pirate rescuer’s delicate seduction, as he draws her effortlessly into his world of pleasure tinged with pain. Having sampled what he can provide, Rob offers Jane a choice. Will she opt to accept her freedom, or remain with Rob as his willing submissive?
When Rob’s past and Jane’s jealous husband catch up with them again, can they find a new future…together?
Until 2010, Ashe was a director of a regeneration company before deciding there had to be more to life and leaving to pursue a lifetime goal of self-employment.
Ashe has been an avid reader of erotic romance for many years—historical, contemporary, fantasy—you name it. Now, at last in control of her own time and working from her home in rural West Yorkshire, she has been able to realise her dream of writing sexy and compelling stories herself.
She draws on settings and anecdotes from her previous and current experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters, but her stories of love, challenge, resilience and compassion are the conjurings of her own imagination. She loves to craft strong, enigmatic men and bright, sassy women to give them a hard time—in every sense of the word.
When she’s not writing, Ashe’s time is monopolised by her role as grandma to a lively toddler. She shares her writing space with a tortoise called Teefer.
This was a different type of read, that was easy to read, fun and enjoyable, I just wished it was longer. The author gifted me the book for an honest review.
The book centres around Mrs Browne, and a pirate captain Rob. Mrs Browne is married to a self centered man, who abuses her. Rob steals her away as booty, as part of his pirating theft. She teaches her the way of the BDSM life style which is short and sweet, but a nice introduction. It' turns out she's never had an orgasuim, so this is her first introduction. She takes to the life style, then her rouge of a husband returns. He gets his just deserts, and the book ends with a HEA.
The book is shirt and sweet, and set in the times of ladies, gentry and pirates. I loved the bathing scene, as this set the tone of the period of the book. I would have loved the book, if it had been more...just that bit longer, a bit more of the relationship...I'm greedy !!!
I wish this was longer (or that well be getting more of their story soon). I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The relationship between Janie and Rob develops nicely and at a fairly natural pace given the short length of the story and contains a decent bit of sizzle. I truly hope to read more about Janie and rob real soon !
It was nice....It had such potential to be a good story but i think because it was soooo short it just fell short of being a good read. I cant really give a star rating IMHO
Has the author's usual stiff dialogue and the ending is par for the course in these generic books, but at least it's consensual and both main characters are likeable.
Right of Salvage by Ashe Barker is a light fun read perfect to lift a reader’s mood. This quick read is part of Jolly Rogered collection filled with swash buckling romance. I’ve been reading some heavy books lately and I really needed something quick to clear my brain This entry by Ms Barker was the perfect read for me.
The main characters, Jane and Rob, are perfect match. Despite Jane being married to an abusive husband, this sexy playful pirate is unable to resist her sweetness. He rescues her from her jealous husband when he seizes all the cargo from a merchant ship. Back on his ship, he introduce her to his delightful world of submission and obedience. The sex between them hot and seductive but light enough for a reader to enjoy. The BDSM element isn’t over-whelming and is perfect for anyone wants a quick snack and not a heavy meal of it. Throw in a few unexpected twist and this story ends with a HEA that is satisfying and left me with a smile.
Of course this is another great story by one of my favorite author, Ashe Barker, and anyone who enjoys her story telling is going to enjoy this book. If you’re going to pick one book out of the Jolly Rogered collection, make it Right of Salvage.
I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
An enjoyable quick romp across the Caribbean .... Rescued by a dashing pirate, Capt Rob Hawke, from an overbearing bully of a merchant husband Janie quickly learns that punishment does not always mean pain.
Although the book ended rather abruptly, I really enjoyed it - I needed a quick pick me up after reading a few 'heavy' books. This was ideal and hopefully the ending means we are going to get to read more of Janie and Rob's adventures.
