Australia was the land of the Aborigines’ Dream Time. For Nan Briscoll, exiled there as a convict, Australia was her nightmare. But she vowed to survive for one reason only ~ revenge against the man who had sealed her fate . . . even as her body continued to yearn for his touch.

For Amaris Wilmot, Australia was her Dream Time. And an ex-convict named Sin was her nightmare

Not for me. This novel attempts to cover too many years and too much Australian history. It would've benefitted from being at least three novels that slowed down and went into appropriate details. As it stands, the characters were passing and under-developed, as were their relationships with one another. I also found the representation of indigenous people quite jarring, with them talking with an African American accent. ...more

Surviving desperation

Graphic descriptions of life or death struggles to survive in early Australia. Settlers survived impossible conditions (drought, fires, disease, impressive government) and kept moving forward to realize their dreams. Characters were so clearly drawn that you either loved it hated them.

Colonial Australia rising

Strong women and men work to overcome the harsh realities of settling Australia. Well written with love, tragedy, joy and hardship intertwined in the lives of Amber, Amaris, Robert, Celeste, and Sin.

Good story

I always love a good story about Australia. I learned a lot about its history & geography. The characters were real, and I cared about them. The book moves along nicely, occasionally skipping ahead a few years. Keeps the story moving along.

Dream time/ never- never

Great read. It kept my attention and kept me wondering. I enjoyed learning about the outback and probably how it's history happened.

Another outstanding book by Ms Bonds. Even with all the typos and scribner's errors I give it five stars.
This is another historical romance book with a true historical framework infused with the raw emotion and force that identifies it as one of Bond's works. This author has a gift for making it real as she takes you on the adventures with all the warts and scars of real people. The characters are imperfect humans struggling for life and love. The main character, Amaris, is jaded and
