Scottish Isles #1

Half-Light Harbor

Rate this book
I went to Scotland looking for answers about my past. The last thing I expected was getting trapped on a private island with my stoic, brooding, gorgeous contractor.

Ramsay McRae is a man with secrets. He prefers the company of his dog to people and silence to any semblance of politeness. He says I’m too young, too sweet, too innocent.

Only he doesn’t know the truth. That I’m haunted by a crime that tore my life apart two years ago. I’ve come to Half-Light Harbor not just to start over, but to bring the monster who killed my parents to justice.

The last thing I need is a tortured Scot distracting me from my mission. But when his restraint snaps and my walls crumble, the results are explosive.

We say it’s only a no-strings-attached affair. A temporary moment to burn out this fire between us.

However, when my search for the truth brings danger to my door, it’s Ramsay stepping in to protect me. But it might be the secrets from his past that tear us apart forever…

Samantha Young is easily one of my favorite romantic suspense authors, and this one definitely scratched that itch!

First, this takes place in Scotland with a broody, grumpy, and bearded Scottish hero who lives alone on an island with his dog. He's helping renovate the B&B the heroine just bought and she's moved to the area to have her fresh start. He wants nothing to do with her, but they're around each other all the time and being a friends with benefits situation. Of course they catch feelings, but he has so much baggage and doesn't want to become more. BUT THEN she's being threatened, so of course he has to protect her. I loved this one so much! The tension was everythingggg and I loved what we learned about the hero by the end and how much he protected the heroine. The perfect start to a new series!!

Half-Light Harbor is the story of an heiress who revoked her fortune and moved to Scotland from NYC and the grumpy Scot on an island. Tierney fled her past, lost in grief she ended up in a small town opening up a B and B. There she meets woodworker Ramsay, an older man with a mysterious past. Right away there's an attraction, but both are in denial about this meaning something more.

Samantha Young is one of my auto-buy authors, I eat up everything she writes. She's definitely still in her romantic suspense era which is fine (if not predictable plot wise) but I still fall in love with her characters with every new book. This one sucked me right in and I loved following along with this story. Lots of feels with this one and I felt Young dealt with harsh topics in a delicate manner in this book. Some standout side characters as well and I hope they all get their own books!

”We stood in peaceful silence for a few minutes, watching the sun set over Half-Light Harbor. As Ramsay murmured into my ear that he loved me, I told him I loved him too.”

samantha young never misses. she’s one of those authors i could read anything from. her prose, her pacing, the way she blends romance with that touch of suspense that keeps you hooked from start to finish. she just knows how to strike the perfect balance every single time.

the suspense in this one was so well done. i loved how we got to explore both main characters’ lives before they met, and then watch how the ghosts of their pasts slowly started catching up to them. it was geniusly — or rather, masterfully — put together. the mystery element wasn’t overbearing, but it added this subtle layer of tension that made everything feel so alive.

and then there’s the romance. it started on the wrong foot and it was mainly the fault of our broody mmc but around the 40% mark? his cute Husky worked his magic between them and everything just clicked. i loved how they complemented each other so perfectly. the chemistry felt natural, the age gap added an extra spark, and honestly, i was in deep for their relationship.

i also really admired the fmc, she was mature, self-aware, and didn’t beg for love or validation. she knew her worth. it was refreshing to see her stand her ground and walk away when things didn’t align, instead of waiting to be chosen.

overall, this book reminded me why i love samantha young’s storytelling so much. it was emotional, addictive, and beautifully written.

”Disappointed that placing my hands on the standing stone didn’t send me careening back in time to find a handsome Highlander, I decided to find my way back to the main path.”
this part had me giggling. Outlander fans unite !

Half-Light Harbor is the first book in the new Scottish Isles series. This is a romantic suspense, set in small town/an isle in Scotland, has grumpy x sunshine, age gap (she’s 27, he’s 40), forced proximity, a heroine in danger, with touch her and die energy!

Tierney is starting over in Scotland. Her parents passed away a year prior and she finds her boyfriend cheating on her when the story starts. She gave up her rights to the hotel empire her grandparents had built and that she inherited upon her parent’s death to instead take over to a Scottish isle to run a b&b. Upon her arrival she’s exploring the island when she has a run-in with Ramsay. Ramsay is a broody, grumpy contractor who she’s going to work with to rehab the small bed & breakfast. They don’t get off to a great start and she ends up getting stuck on the island since the tide came in.

I liked this intro to a new series, seeing and getting to know a new setting and cast of characters was fun. This has age gap (he is 13 years older) and they start a fling type of situationship. He’s a woodworker, he plays bagpipes with his band, we see her friendship with her best friend, she read why choose romances, I loved his dog Akiva, they both have trauma from their pasts and connect, and their chemistry is steamy and things get spiiiicy as they explore together. The suspense elements really kick in towards the end of the book after spending a lot of time getting to know Ramsay & Tierney first. I’m intrigued by more to come in this series!

The audiobook in particular was fantastic! I always enjoy this author’s audiobooks especially. Solid start to a new series.

So excited to be back in Scotland and enjoying a Romantic Suspense from Samantha Young. I am all about this location, the vibes, the bagpipes.... load me up on it.

I loved our gruff, jaded protector type, Ramsay. Add in his loveable dog Akiva and I am ready to sit up and pay attention. Then there was Tierney, and her kind spirit and determination were inspiring to witness. I loved the chemistry between the two of them!

This was a lovely listen and it was narrated in the dual style by Shane East & Stella Hunter. The suspense was well paced and I enjoyed my time with these characters. I look forward to more with this cast of characters. I am already eying up a few couples.

Headlines:
She's searching for home
He's grumpy
But his dog is A+

This new Scottish series starter from Samantha Young just filled my cup right up. It's a romantic suspense with a great and gritty plot on the suspense front. The romance plot felt hard-fought, tangible and had all the longings.

Secrets seeped through the pages narrating Tierney's new start in life on a Scottish island. She was the opposite of what I expected of an American heiress, she was down-to-earth and wanted a quiet, fulfilling life. There was a slowly-forming found family on this island and I feel excited about future books. Ramsey was closed-off, a bit growly but fascinating and I was so invested in these two.

Akiva, the malamute, had all my attention. This dog companion was all big fluffy gorgeousness and I want her in my life!

The past caught up with both Tierney and Ramsey, so that I got totally sucked into the tension. Between the suspense and the angst of the romance, I'd raced through the pages and felt totally sad when I'd finished. There's a bonus scene you can sign up for at the end of the book, so make sure you do that.

This first book really hit the spot and I'm looking forward to whatever characters are next. Taran? Quinn? London? Cammie? So many possibilites!

Thank you to the author for the early review copy.

My first book by Samantha Young and I am OBSESSED! The Scotland setting, the brooding contractor (we love a man who works with his hands), the suspense, it grabbed my attention and never let go. I can’t wait to read her precious books!

Read this if you’re in the mood for…
- romantic suspense
- Brooding grumpy man
- Woman on the run-ish
- Casual but is it really casual?
- Who did this to you?
- “good girl”

The first in the series and I cannot wait for more.

What a way to start a new series!

Ramsay McRae is aloof and cold with a very secret past. Tierney moved from New York to a sleepy little Scottish island to open an inn after loosing her parents and finding her boyfriend cheating. She meets Ramsay (her contractor), a stoic and brooding Scotsman who is 13 years older than her. Tierney finds friendships on the island. The attraction that her and Ramsey has are fiery and palpable. Ramsay’s gorgeous dog, Akiva, even falls for Tierney. They start a no strings affair, but soon strings form between the two of them. Ramsay gets scared of the strings, but not of what is hunting Tierney.

Choices were made by flawed characters, but as the layers of each character were peeled back, the heart of who they are was perfect. Ramsay is so protective over Tierney, and his protectiveness only grew as he discovered her story. Tierney had to basically force Ramsay to communicate what he been through, but only after he his bout of trepidation once he began to felt more than lust for her. Neither were judgmental and both were protective/possessive over each other, but not in a crazy way. There is a sense of found family between Tierney and her best friend, London. The suspense plot was well paced and helped bring conflict but also unity to Tierney and Ramsay’s relationship.

The ending was so satisfying, but the real star of Half-Light Harbor was the emotional complexity and how Ramsay and Tierney’s feels and characters grew — from lust to love, and from closed off to completely trusting of each other. The audiobook was masterfully narrated by Stella Hunter and Shane East! I was thoroughly impressed with how impeccable their Scottish ascents were! They beautifully captured the angst, the tension, the emotional rawness that Samantha Young wrote.

Thank you to Samantha Young and Must Love Audio for an ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"I wanted her to see what she did to me. That I might be the one in control... but fuck, she was the one with all the power."
LOVED this. Such a great introduction into Samantha Young's Scottish Isles series! I've said this before and I'll say it again, a series is where SY really shines. Here we're introduced to a cast of characters who we don't get a whole lot of time with, but will surely see more of in the coming books

Ramsay and Tierney were great. They had some chemistry right off the bat- a mix of slight flirtation and sexual tension with a bit of antagonism? Ramsay is trying to fight the connection between them because he think's it will be too complicated, but obviously can't forever and the two begin a "no commitment" affair.

As always, I wish we had more domestic scenes here. Ramsay and Tierney have a push/pull for so long and then when they finally get together, we don't get to see a whole lot of scenes of them together. I would have liked some casual moments between them, just hanging out with Akiva and around the island.

This was my first book by Samantha Young but it definitely won’t be my last. Let’s just say I want to move to this small town for the people and the sights! I absolutely loved Ramsay, such a handsome, older, slightly grumpy man who completely stole my heart. Every time he called Tierney “Silver,” I melted a little more. The found family aspect was beautiful, the suspense added the perfect edge, and the spice was spot on. I’m officially hooked and can’t wait to dive into more from this author!

If you ever need to teach a course on chemistry, just make Half-Light Harbor the lesson. I devoured this book up!!! The chemistry between leads Tierney and Ramsay is truly delectable. Half-Light Harbor brings a sizzling yet heartfelt romance and sets it against a heart-racing suspenseful plot that will keep you with bated breath upon every turn of the page.

The romance, the romance, the romance!
From the moment they meet (even whilst on the wrong foot) the immediate magnetism between Tierney and Ramsay is undeniable. It makes their initial pull-and-push all the more riveting, as they (especially Ramsay) deny the growing attraction. I personally love it when the onset of a romance begins with set backs induced by the protagonists. Denying the obvious growth of feelings initially just has them pile up inside and when they will inevitably burst, they will do so in a way that brings the swoons and the shouts of "finally!". I just absolutely adore that feeling!

Beyond the romance, both characters have a wonderful arcs of growth.
Tierney is trying to rebuild her life, but at the same time she is lending her hand in helping bring her parents' murderer to justice. Even if that means placing herself in the line of the danger. She thinks she can handle it all, and is reluctant to receive help. More than that, reluctant to trust. Slowly but surely she learns to do that: to trust. To trust Ramsay not just with her secrets, but with her heart. Deciding he's worthy of such a gift. If only he immediately felt the same. Ramsay has lived a life of isolation and penance, to be trusted with Tierney's heart is a certainly a gift, but one he initially believes himself unworthy. Cue angst! And you know I love angst, so I can't be too mad at Ramsay for how he fumbled that heart! Especially with the way he delivers in recovering the loss, and proving not just to Tierney but to himself he deserves that gift-- and is more than willing to give his own in turn.

Between opening one's heart to trust and to love, the chemistry between our leads transforms, it's not just attraction, it's emotional weight. It's the souls coming together in perfect medley. I loved it!

I also loved the suspense heightening the stakes in this story. I truly was at the edge of my seat when certain action scenes took place! It was balanced perfectly against the love story, in fact I'd say it elevated the romance! All of this work played out so beautifully! This is the beginning of another favorite series! Highly recommend to all!

Thank you to Samantha Young's street team and Valentine PR for this complimentary ARC, I leave this honest review voluntarily.

Half Light Habor was a great romantic suspense story. Tierney and Ramsey - sunshine and grump. Their journey was good but sadly I didn’t connect with them. Their relationship was too instalust. I liked their dialogue when there was tension and Ramsay tried to push her away. It was short lived in my opinion. I was more interested in the side characters - Quinn, Cammie, Taran and London. I liked the story but it wasn’t memorable. I’ll continue because I really want to read Quinn and Taran’s second chance

Samantha Young has officially earned a spot on my list of favorite authors! Half Light Harbor had everything I love in a book! Suspense, sizzling romance, hilarious banter, lovable characters, and a plot that had me flying through the pages!

Tierney is still grieving the tragic loss of her parents when a reporter contacts her, claiming their deaths may not have been an accident after all. While waiting for the truth to unfold, Tierney decides to start fresh in Scotland, renovating a charming B&B where she just so happens to have a broody, sexy contractor she cannot stop thinking about.

And Ramsay… my lawd, this man was everything. He doesn’t do relationships… especially not with women who live on the island BUT his attraction to Tierney is impossible to ignore.

The chemistry between these two? Off the charts. The spice? Gave me actual hot flashes 🤪🔥 The suspense had me on edge, and the friendship between Tierney and her best friend London was pure gold! Everyone needs a friendship like them in their life.

I adored every character we met, and I already can’t wait for the next book in this series! Samantha Young continues to deliver 5-star reads every single time, and Half Light Harbor was absolutely fabulous.

If you love romantic suspense, add this book to your TBR immediately! 💕

5 huge stars!

A heroine starting over, a broody but protective alpha hero, traumatic pasts, drama, secrets, danger and suspense, with a scene-stealing dog, and the most beautiful love story all set in the remote Scottish Isles. This is the start of a brand new series from Samantha Young, I adored every moment of it, and it’s a fave for 2025!

Desperate for a fresh start after the tragic death of her parents and suspicions of foul play, Tierney packs up her life in New York City and heads to a small island in Scotland for a fresh start. She plans to settle there and starts renovating a B&B, and she quickly finds her place in the small town.

Ramsay is a big broody local who is part of the team renovating Tierney’s B&B, and from the moment they meet, sparks fly. There’s a thirteen year age gap (he’s 40, she’s 27), and he’s a withdrawn bachelor with no plans to get into a relationship, but he can’t seem to stay away from the new arrival in town, and the tension between them absolutely sizzles!

OMG, the chemistry between Ramsay and Tierney is SO good! The build-up is fantastic, and every little moment between them bursts with expectation. The sexual tension is palpable, and the anticipation had me madly flipping pages.

“I’m not fucking you in this bed.”
Frustration ripped through me. “Then you’re going to have to bear witness to me getting myself off because I’m about to explode over here.”
I was just as surprised as he was by my forthright words.
His lips curled at the corners. “I think I can help you out with that.”

And, let me tell you, it is so worth the wait. The romance is steamy and intense, and the big broody alpha turns out to be a controlling dirty talker in the bedroom *fans self*, and watching for those secretive little tender and vulnerable moments had me literally clutching my kindle with glee.

“You don’t have a ‘me problem’. You just want a domineering bastard in your bed.” He took a step toward me. “Domineering bastard at your service and happy to oblige.”

We love watching the big, broody ones fall, and Ramsay falls hard! His protectiveness when danger comes for Tierney is absolutely sensational. But they both have big secrets, and there’s a lot they have to deal with. My heart hurt for both of them, but it’s the most incredible ride.

Of course I also fell hard for Ramsay. His quietness and brush attitude hides so much, and he is obviously dealing with some pretty huge stuff from his past, but his softness with beloved dog, and eventually with Tierney, melted me. And Tierney is a fabulous heroine. She’s been through so much, but she’s kind, smart, brave, sensible, playful and a bit of a smartass, and she has the biggest heart. She handles everything that comes her way so well and I cheered for her through every up and down that she faces.

The suspense aspect of the book is so well done. There’s quite a bit going on, and the story is so cleverly crafted. There are scenes that had my heart pounding, and, of course, we get to see Ramsay be all badass and protective which just made me love him even more!

There is a close group of friends who are absolutely fantastic and the found family is well established. They’re funny and sweet, and support our couple through their troubles, and the set ups are there for future books with some irresistible backstories, and I am so freaking excited to continue on with this series!

This book grabbed me from the very beginning, and I struggled to put it down. I devoured it and finished it in a day. I was instantly swept up the small town in the Scottish Isles, and happily lost myself in this new world. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since

Such a fantastic read - 5 stars!

Tierney + Ramsay

Two years ago Tierney's parents died in a helicopter crash and she still has a hard time with things. She lost her hotel manager job and her boyfriend cheated on her. Her bestie told her to go to Scotland - where her grandma was from - to get away from everything. And here she is now. She bought an old guesthouse on an island that she wants to turn into a B&B.
And one of the builder guys is Ramsay.
He's very mysterious and not much for talking ... but so very easy on the eyes!
Oh and there's also the reporter who approched Tierney last year to tell her that her parents' death might not have been an accident!

That was so adorable!
And so much more.
Mysterious. Suspensy. Thrillerish. Sweet. Heartbreaking. Super (kinkily) sexy. Funny. Scottish. Islandish.
Next to fighting for that happily ever after with Ramsay on the island we have to find out what happened to her parents. Then we have to stop the bad guys from wanting to hurt us and then there are Ramsay's secrets. They might be coming to the island too.
This was such a great romantic suspense!
The most adorable thing was the dog! I loved her! I need a dog in all my books please!
Amazing location.
Perfect Cast!

Can't wait for the next books in this series!
We already know who all needs to find their happily ever after!

There's nothing like a book written by Samantha Young that includes a protective, broody Scottish man, a heroine in danger and some dangerous suspense. And boy, does Ms Young give us a great start to a whole new series set in the Scottish Isles.

Tierney moves from the fast-paced city life of NYC to a sleepy little island town in Scotland after the tragic death of her parents. She's looking to uncover the truth about their untimely deaths while seeking to live a quiet life remodeling and opening up a B and B. While there, she meets the older and broody Ramsay that doesn't have much to say, but she is immediately drawn to him and to his dog, Akiva. Ramsay may think he does not need any more friends and he may have secrets of his own he is hiding, but the beautiful American heiress may just break all of his rules before danger comes knocking on her door.

I don't know how you can't fall in love with every aspect of this story. From the set up of Tierney's past and her seeking answers to the new friends she makes after moving to Scotland to the immediate attraction and tension between Tierney and Ramsay, Half-Light Harbor had such a great balance of everything. This romantic suspense that was heavy on the secrets and suspense aspect grabbed me right from the start. And while we all generally fall in love with the MMC (which I absolutely did), I initially fell for the FMC, Tierney big time. She is just this strong woman that is going after everything she wants and needs. She has secrets that she is keeping from the small town she moved to, but she also cares for those around her and has a lot of fight in her. Mix that with the protective Ramsay that is fiercely loyal but is somewhat of a loner and very secretive about his past and who he is and you have two people that can't help but crash together. Their chemistry just hits right from the very start, even when they (ahem, mostly Ramsay) fight it. And when they do crash? It is powerful and HOT AF!

"You just want a domineering bastard in your bed....Domineering bastard at your service and happy to oblige. Now take off the bra."

Half-Light Harbor is an amazing first book in a series and really sets the tone for what's to come in the next books. I loved the chemistry between Ramsay and Tierney and I loved the found family they created in Scotland. The suspense was mixed really well with the relationship not only between the main characters, but also the supporting characters that played a large role in the whole story. It amped up the plot and had you on the edge of your seat. Especially the climax that had my heart beating out of its chest. I can't wait for more in this world because the taste of the characters we got already has me excited for what's to come!

If you like:
High stakes Romantic suspense, broody protective men that are dominant in the bedroom, Heroine in danger (but that's also a badass), bag pipes (iykyk), age gap, small town, close and forced proximity, found family, and a smart dog (that almost steals the show in all of his scenes), then pick up Half-Light Harbor today!

"You're still too young. Too sweet for the likes of me....You're also too much mine for me to ever let go now."
"Never let go."

Half-Light Harbor was such an incredible story, and I was immediately intrigued. I loved the world the author created and the wonderful characters. I loved the development as Ramsay and Tierney’s layers were peeled back and their secrets were revealed. I loved how they were drawn together and the sizzling passion between them. The suspense element was fantastic, and I was on the edge of my seat as it all played out. From beginning to end, I was hooked!

I adored Tierney. She had such a big heart, and I hurt for her as I learned about her past. I loved her perseverance as she started over and took on a new venture. Ramsay fascinated me. He was grumpy and guarded, and I couldn’t wait to learn what he was holding back. I enjoyed the hints about his life as the story built. I loved their meeting and the push and pull between them. I loved them opening up and watching their feelings grow. I could feel the tension and emotion as details were learned and the suspense amped up. Their building attraction was off the charts. I could feel the chemistry vibrating between them. When it finally broke loose, it was pure fire! I thought they both had great growth, especially Ramsay. Watching him open up and really embrace life was amazing!

I really liked the small-town setting and excellent cast of characters that were introduced. I'm already excited for more in the series. I loved the friendships and bonds that Tierney formed, and meeting her best friend, London, I really hope she gets a story. Ramsay’s bandmates were fun to meet, and his sweet dog stole my heart.

This had everything I love in a story: drama, heartfelt emotions, and love! This was a fantastic read, and I can’t say enough good things!

Half Light Harbor kicks off Samantha Young’s brand new Scottish Isles series with everything I love about her writing—emotion, tension, and chemistry that practically hums through your headphones. Shane East brings Ramsay’s broody, protective energy to life with that perfect Scottish accent (no one does it better), while Stella Hunter absolutely shines as Tierney, capturing her strength, vulnerability, and fierce independence.

This story balances edge of your seat suspense with a deep emotional core, there’s danger, secrets, and that delicious push and pull between two people who can’t stay away from each other. I adored the sense of community and found family woven through the plot, and the small town coziness makes the darker moments hit even harder. A perfect start to what feels like an unforgettable new series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4 stars. Screaming, jumping up and down, and dancing over the fact that Sam is giving us ANOTHER romantic suspense series set in Scotland. There truly was a gap in my tbr given that the Adair and Highlands series are complete. Needless to say, I'm so damn happy to be back in Scotland with Sam's writing, even if it means that there's a murderer or stalker or scary dude on the loose. I loved both Tierney and Ramsay as MCs. Both characters have difficult pasts and are tortured in their own ways. There was honestly a lot of drama with the relationship aspect of this one (outside of even the romantic suspense component), and I gobbled the drama up. They definitely let their backstories get in the way of their HEA for a bit, but I found that to be supremely entertaining. And I do think that although there wasn't an overt grovel, Ramsay definitely makes up for his errors in probably the best way possible. There are some really strong friendships (as well as new ones that develop), which really lay the groundwork for some fantastic books to look forward to in the series. All in all, Half-Light Harbor was a really entertaining and strong start to the series. Sam Young is back with her Scottish romantic suspense and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come with this series!

Thank you so much to Young and Valentine PR for the ARC.

Samantha is back with a brand new romantic suspense series set in Scotland. I’m always down to read romances between heroines in danger and protective heroes. This had mystery, danger, angsty tension, and lots of secrets. Both characters were hiding things. I really enjoyed how the story came together in the end. Bonus points for the cute dog.

When she finds out that the tragedy that happened to her parents might have been a set up, Tierney heads to a private island to start over and look for answers.
There she comes face to face with her grumpy contractor, Ramsay. These two can’t help the attraction towards each other. Things get complicated when they realize they both are hiding things.

If you like edge of your seat danger and suspense mixed into some spicy romance then you will definitely enjoy this one. I enjoyed the unique small town setting and the group of characters that were introduced.

“From the very beginning.”

THE QUEEN IS BACK!!! My favourite romantic suspense author ever, AND FOR GOOD REASON!! I have missed reading a damn good romantic suspense novel and reading a new one by Samantha is like coming HOME!

Ramsay is, quite frankly, the Scottish man of my dreams. He is so gruff, but for very good reason. He protects his people with everything he has, AND he plays the bagpipes... I mean come on!

Tierney is such a bad ass. You'll be hard pressed to find many ordinary FMCs as strong as she is. And her relationship with London?? Those two are best friend GOALS.

Ramsay and Tierney are perfection together and this story? Omg, there is so much going on, in the absolute best way possible. I freaking loved it!

Thank you so much Samantha for the ARC of this book. I'm forever grateful for you!

I’m not usually a romantic suspense reader. But being on Samantha Young’s Review team, I have read almost all of hers so far. This new series started out really well, even if I am also not usually a fan of the age-gap romances either, especially when the man is this much older. However, these characters were good for me and I enjoyed their story. And of course I enjoyed the Scottish words and accents and all the things this author puts in her stories.

I loved that Tierney moved to Scotland because of memories with her grandmother after losing her parents as well as finding out what a slimeball her ex was. There were a lot of what you’d call bad guys in this story. Between the big cover-up of what really happened to Tierney’s parents, there was her ex who was a narcissistic controlling man. Each causing issues for her safety. Then there was Ramsay’s past which showed up in the end. As well as one more entitled rich jerk in Tierney’s past.

Their relationship was steamy once they gave in, both were attracted to the other and both said it was only casual at first, they didn’t want more. But as we know, that soon led to feelings because they were also perfect for each other, even with the age difference. Honestly with what Tierney had dealt with even at her young age, she wasn’t a naive young woman with an older way experienced man. I mean, yes, he was those things, but not in the way that would have bothered me. I did get irritated with Ramsay saying it was over at one point, because it was “better for her” to not be with him because of his past. But that’s a pet peeve of mine, and unfortunately something that tends to happen a lot in this type of story, so I just have to get over it. The way the two of them were able to move past it when the time came was a way that I like, realistic and not overly dramatic in the end.

We had a wonderful small town to get to know characters in. Obviously there are some that we know will probably reconnect in a future story. And then there is at least one new member of the town at the end that I’m sure we’ll get a romance story for in the series as well. A great start to a new series by one of my favorite authors!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

anyone who knows me knows that i am a huge fan of samantha young's books. no matter the setting or characters, every book she writes always feels like i'm returning home. her upcoming release was no different! half-light harbor was cozy, nostalgic, a little sweet, full of suspense, and heavyyyy on the spice. i truly think this might be the spiciest book she's written yet?

tierney escapes a nightmare in new york by fleeing to scotland with only a battered heart and a dream of opening a b&b in her late grandmother's memory. it just so happens that her new home, glenvulin, happens to be a scottish isle remote enough for her to bide her time as she attempts to bring to justice the monster who killed her parents. what wasn't in her plan? a broody, tortured Scot distracting her from her mission.

loved loved loved this book. it was so cozy and charming (murder-subplot aside) and i had the best time reading this story. tierney & ramsey's romance had me absolutely swooning but AKIVA stole the show for me!! and i'm so intrigued by all the side characters we met (quinn and taran especially 👀)

can't wait to return to this world in the next installment!

DNF at 51% - I really couldn’t connect with this book, as much as I wanted to. I enjoyed the setting and I liked the characters individually, but I couldn’t really see the chemistry between them. I also (this is a me thing) really didn’t like him calling her constantly by her last name. I wasn’t the right reader for this book, but I know plenty of people will love it!

5/5✨
3/5🌶️

This was my first encounter with a book written by Samantha Young and I can say that I was mesmerized by it😍. Thank you so much Valentine Pr and Samantha for accepting me to receive this early copy!

Tierney was trying to find some answers regarding her parents tragic death. She ended up in Scotland, where she met many people who became her friends but only one man caught her attention, even though he was 13 years older than her.

Ramsay was a grumpy and withdrawn man, who liked to keep the secrecy about his past and present life. He was spending most of his time with his dog, not liking to bond with other people because of his past. But in the moment he saw young Tierney, something ignited inside him and it was pretty impossible to ignore the tension between them, especially when the attraction was mutual. The need to extinguish the fire has led them to reach an agreement, to consume in a way that burning sensation between them. But things won't be so easy when they realize that what they had was actually something much more complex and strong. What happens when their past secrets caught up with them? Will that ruin everything they had together?

I was captivated by this story even from the very first page of this book! It was so intriguing and you could actually feel the suspense throughout the whole story, being always something new to discover. Of course, I adored the crazy connection which appeared between our brave heroine and our grumpy contractor. The slow burn was really well built, which kept me guessing at every step, to not really know when they will just give into that incredible attraction they had. It was super sweet to see how their walls crumbled down bit by bit and how they became addicted to one another and I loved how they had that feeling of safety when they were together, like they could fight the entire world and be unharmed.

I'm so glad that I got the chance to read this amazing book, one which made me crave more stories by Samantha Young! I can't believe that I haven't read anything by her until now!!😮 I was so mesmerized by the writing style from this book and that made me so sure that I need to read more from her soon.🥰🥰

(𝚂𝙲𝙾𝚃𝚃𝙸𝚂𝙷 𝙸𝚂𝙻𝙴𝚂 𝚂𝙴𝚁𝙸𝙴𝚂 #𝟷)

This author is my “go to” for small town, romantic suspense and this book in her new 𝚂𝙲𝙾𝚃𝚃𝙸𝚂𝙷 𝙸𝚂𝙻𝙴𝚂 𝚂𝙴𝚁𝙸𝙴𝚂 is another example of why.
The first couple of chapters immediately pulled me in and introduced a large element that is part of the suspense and mystery. I loved knowing a bit about it so soon. The situation is both emotional and intriguing. It is a huge part of Tierney’s story. I really love her strength, bravery, her wit, kindness and how down to earth she is.
Ramsay is the quintessential strong, silent and broody type. And, he’s a s€xy man of many talents including carpentry and playing the bagpipes. Then, there’s all the mysterious things in his past and present that are alluded to. He is quite the renaissance man. Oh, and he has a library to rival the Beast’s. Swoon!
He and Tierney are opposites, I love their banter so much. It amps up the steamy tension between them and makes it explosive 🧨 when they finally decide to give into their attraction. No feelings, just s€x….Hmmm, we shall see how long the no feelings or complications last.
The steam and spice is HOT! Tierney and Ramsay have that great banter and challenge each other which makes s€x between them scorching hot.
The charming Island is wonderfully described, it sounds so beautiful and unique. The secondary characters are fantastic and I look forward to more in this series with them.
This had a bit more suspense than I expected and I really liked it. I love how the situations play out and I love a bit of a surprise which I got.
I love this story and, I love this Island and its residents so much! I even love Ramsay’s clever dog!
The details matter and I thoroughly enjoyed this spicy, emotional romantic suspense so much!

I am a huge Samantha Young fan and have read over 40 of her books. So it brings me so much joy to read a new book by Samantha and absolutely adore it. This one had me gripped and highly addicted from start to finish!

Half-Light Harbor is about Tierney, a 27 year old woman who has arrived on a remote Scottish Island two years after the death of her parents. Tierney needs space to heal and rebuild her life. She meets 40 year old grumpy carpenter Ramsey. He is a gorgeous tall, built broody Scotsman who she feels an instant connection to. Unfortunately secrets of the past come calling and her life turns much more difficult and dangerous than expected.

I never thought suspense romance would be my thing but with Samantha writing it, I LOVE it. As a first book in a new series, it really had me hooked straight away and has me desperate for book two already!
The story was heartbreaking, dangerous, beautiful and sexy! I loved the fact it was told in the two points of view and loved the journey both leads had together and separately. Also the found family aspect that Samantha weaves in was fab and makes me so excited for future books!
The suspense aspect of the book is so well done. I often wonder how Samantha can come up with more unique and fresh suspenseful romance stories, but she continues to smash it every time!

Our lead female Tierney is an absolute gem. She is from New York elite, yet so down to earth, kind, caring, and pretty innocent. Still, she has a hell of a lot of fight and grit in her when she needs it and I loved her for that. Ramsey is a bit of a loner (lives alone on his own tiny island!), mysterious and intriguing. Yet throughout the book shows his loving, protective and vulnerable side. He fights to the end for those he loves and I love that in a MMC. The romance is beautiful and sexy and the connection and chemistry was perfectly done.
Shout out goes to my favourite side character, Akiva who is Ramsey's Malamute Dog! She is adorable and made me crave dog cuddles (which my Luna happily gave!).

Overall, yet another brilliant book by Samantha Young. I rarely give 5 Star reviews nowadays but this couldn't be given anything else! Adored it and need book 2 IMMEDIATELY!

Please note that I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a beautiful and action packed story from beginning up until the epilogue. It's very much Samantha Young and how she intricately weave the right amount of tension, suspense and mystery into a romance book while making the readers want to take a trip to Scotland at the same time.

We follow American hotel heiress Tierney and her journey and life in Scotland. Trying to deal with her parents' death and being targeted, Tierney upped and moved to Scotland and purchased and is remodeling a B&B. Here she meets her contractor, the broody and mysterious Ramsay. Their meet cute was memorable and the chemistry between them was instant. They eventually agreed to a casual relationship until feelings started to develop. Tierney had chaos to deal with as ot relates to her parents. She was harassed, threatened and her life was in danger. Ramsay, with a secretive past of his own, became Tierney's protector and savior. What ensued is a whole lot of mess and action that is both scary and fun and entertaining to read. When everything was unraveled, we see how all the mess and chaos were dealt with and how Tierney and Ramsay was brought closer because of it.

I love the book so much. It kept me on the edge until the very end. I love how there's so many plot points going but they all made sense, all were connected somehow. I really like how Samantha was able to keep the focus on the 2 main characters yet spinkle some love and attention to the other characters (all I'm assuming are going to be the mains on the next books. I'm excited to see Taran, Cammie and even London's books as well. Every single character in this book wasnt a throwaway, all had a purpose and I love that in a book. I adore Akiva and all the other members of the band especially Quinn. I enjoyed Ramsay's very alpha and scary "you dont want to cross me" hero type (love all the threats and controlled choking haha when he does them). And I adore and instantly connected with Tierney.

Really nothing negative to say. This book was perfect. 10/10 Samantha ate with this one.

Thank you Valentine PR for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts!

[Half-Light Harbor]

There's a new book boyfriend IN THE HOUSE! Welcome to the roster, Ramsey. *drool*

I absolutely LOVED this twisty, exciting, spicy romance so MUCH! Once I started this book, it was impossible to stop until the very last word. I'm still reeling over how the suspense played out and how everything came together in the end. Ramsey and Tierney had so much chemistry from the very moment they met, but they also both had so many secrets! The secrets were their biggest romantic hurdle and I love how Samantha wrote their journey to trusting each other enough to share their true selves and their secrets. A review cannot be written without highlighting Ramsey's "touch her and 💀" energy. This man wasn't going to let anything happen to Tierney or anyone she cares for and I was HERE for it.

I also loved this small town, all the friendships, and of course Ramsey's dog. This book was an easy five stars for me and I'm already counting down to the next book in the series.
