First off, I'd like to thank Dawn Martens and Emily Minton for writing a wonderful follow-up to Renegade Lady. I'm usually slightly disappointed at sequels but not this time! I couldn't put the damn iPad down. I was a woman possessed. I needed to wait it out to see if and when Preach would finally sort his shit out! And thank goodness I read on- the ending made the torturous journey completely worth it.

Renegade Reject is Daisy and Preach's love story. The road to their happily ever after is filled with speed bumps- speed bumps not made of smooth, sleek asphalt; it's paved with big assed spiky nails.

The book starts off with a look into Preach's life before the Renegade Sons and how he came about joining. His background is not filled with the warm and fuzzies. There are no tales of joyful Christmases; no joyous stories of fun and merriment at the dinner table. Nope, Preach grew up in a world of f*cking crazy!!!

Daisy's childhood wasn't much better. She grew up in the MC life, her father and her maternal grandfather were members. In fact, her grandmother is part of a loving polyamorous relationship- the third part of the trio, Holt, was also a member. And though her grandparents and Holt adored and cared for her. She had an alcoholic and often neglectful father and a bitchy, wretch of a mother. Daisy grew up in her own slice of hell, where she was forced to endure verbal and physical abuse at the hands of her despicable mother.

Daisy and Preach were instantly drawn to each other. Preach felt an instant connection to her, he had the unexplainable urge to protect her- to claim her. Daisy felt cherished, for the first time in her young life, she felt chosen. But they had a long list of obstacles in their way- from overprotective grandparents to sleazy ex-best friends; Daisy and Preach faced heartbreak after heartbreak. Would they ever find their way to happiness?

Reading Renegade Reject put me through the emotional wringer. There were times I wanted to throw my iPad across the room and times I wanted to fall down and weep like a little baby. It was almost painful to read- the antagonists this couple faced, especially Daisy, were monsters. The abuse and torment she faced on a daily basis at the hands of her mother, her so-called friend, and in certain heart shattering moments- Preach; it made me want to crawl into a teeny tiny hole and die. But thankfully, Dawn Martens and Emily Minton wrote a much better and lovable heroine than that. Daisy was one hell of a character. She was sweet and loyal with a hint of naivete but she also showed a remarkable amount of backbone. This is a character trait I really appreciated in Renegade Lady in regards to Ice. The women in this series are beaten down by life but evolve to be forces of nature. I love how the old ladies of the Renegade Sons don't need constant rescuing. The damsel in distress thing only goes so far, not to mention that mentality does not make badass biker bitches. ;)

The rest of the crew make healthy appearances and I loved getting glimpses of them, not to mention a good look of what's ahead in the series. I have to say, Reese really pulls at this quivering blogger's heartstrings. Send him my way, I'll make him happy. Yeesh, that is one hot Hawaiian who needs some good, naughty nun lovin'.

Renegade Reject wasn't as dark as Lady but it was most definitely not a light and fluffy read. It's a book that will pull at your insides. My heart hurt, it actually felt like it was being squeezed while I read the most devastating portions of this story. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't always sad and weepy. There were moments of humor and light-heartedness. And of course, lots of great hot and steamy love scenes. But there's a great deal of angst, so please heed my warning.

Four stars. Loved the people. Loved the story. Loved the hot animal sex. Loved it all. Can't wait for the next one. This series is on its way to landing on my Essential Biker Romance Guide.
