baldinger's The Lower Forty-Eight is a distant, hard-hitting cousin to Allen Ginsberg's The Fall of America. To honestly write about somewhere is to know the place, to have been there and seen it. Baldinger knows America back to front, up and down, side to side, the good, the bad, and obviously the ugly. The Lower Forty-Eight is a boozy knockout slug, wake-up call to a nation that's lost and maybe down for the count. ...more

I traveled the country from nyc to california and back again in 2007. It was a hell of a trip. I had just gotten out of graduate school and realized that i was soon going to get a "career" instead of a job. Realizing that my window might be closing, my husband and i packed the car and hit the road. It was an amazing, life-altering journey. One that 7 years later I wonder when I'm going to be able to do again.
