If you like X-Men them you will most likely enjoy reading this book. It makes me wish I had super powers but I don't want to die and have the Grim Reaper offer me a deal in order to have them.
I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway. It was the first time I have won a giveaway on Goodreads since I joined so that in itself was exciting. The book arrived brand new and signed by the author. To preserve the newness of the prize, I bought the book in ebook format on my Kindle.
(The following may contain spoilers)- The book itself was a fairly exciting adventure. There were noticeable editing mistakes or words out of place. I am not sure if that is the case in the print version. The pacing was somewhat odd and rushed through most of the book. The relationships between some of the characters didn't make sense or were downright not believable in the time frame in which they happened. I was a bit put off by the rape/murder scene as it felt like it was just an easy way to make a character one of the "Soldiers" and then it was just glossed over like it never happened and everything was normal in the span of about a week. The conclusion was mostly left up to chance and the only help through the doom and gloom came from maybe one or two characters who had all but given up.
It was a quick read and even with all that was said above, I would say that I did like the book and was happy to have received it as my first giveaway prize.
Really, this is why I don't read a series of books until it's finished or almost finished. It's driving me nuts that I probably won't get to read the sequel for a long while. I have no doubt that it will be worth the wait, though.
This is the third book this year that's had me running all over my bedroom with excitement. I can't help it. I am all about that rag-tag group of heroes.
Some of the girls I work with are reading this book now because I couldn't shut up about how much I loved it. None of them like to read, by the way. Like, at all. But, they're doin' it.
Mention of the grim reaper is what caught my attention since I love of the show Dead Like Me. I know this isn't anyway the same but it got me to pick it up and I was instantly intrigued by the premise. It was a struggle to put the book down! I felt it was creative and great reading entertainment.
Didn't finish the whole thing, stopped at page 180. I just wasn't into the book and didn't want to make myself finish. London falling is coming in the mail, hopefully I'll enjoy it.
