Despite the Fangs

Rate this book
Workaholic werewolves have such awesome perks.

Just ask Aribella Lupari, whose hectic schedule tracking missing people in the snowy Adirondacks allows her benefits humans can't appreciate--wolves never return unopened wedding gifts, never gain weight from late night doughnut binges, and never worry over their encroaching Unibrow. For Ari, walking upright is overrated.

Then she tracks a hiker whose delectable scent calls to both halves of her werewolf self. Not only does Mason Gray look as good as he smells, he may be the only man who can love the beauty behind the beast. Ari should know better than to trust a human, especially after Mason blackmails her into tracking his kidnapped son. But her attraction for the mysterious single father has Ari ignoring her animal instincts.

Can the big, bad wolf live happily ever after, DESPITE THE FANGS?

Dylan Newton was born and raised in a small town where the library was her favorite hang-out. After over a decade working in corporate America, Dylan quit to pursue her passion: writing books. The gamble paid off with seven published novels, and more to come! When she isn’t writing, Dylan is pursuing her own happily ever after with her high school sweetheart as they split time between Florida and Upstate New York with their two much cooler daughters.

I found Dylan Newton by winning one of her books in a giveaway, Any Witch Way. I loved it so much, that when I was given a chance to read Despite The Fangs, I was gung ho. And…

Aribella Lupari is the Alpha of the Lypari wolfpack.

Ari has become a stalker werewolf. It’s not her fault. It was all an accident. It was love at first smell, when she and her brother were out on a rescue mission in the Adirondacks

No time for a snack of rabbit tar tar. I love the light, humorous writing.

She IS Tracker Inc. Need someone found? Missing hikers, no problem. Villains, the best. Children were the most difficult cases. When the opportunity comes up to rescue a kidnapped child that would net them what they need to allow them to take their company global, thus enabling them to combine werewolves across the world under an umbrella of independence, how could she turn it down. Until…

He walks in. The sexual tension was flaming hot before they even met face to face. They both deny the attraction, and when it comes to the paranormal, I find it easier to accept the instalove. Once they surrender to their urges I feel like I can sit back, relax, and get to the crux of the story and I am really curious to find out the what of Mason. I love the fabulous twist, that I wasn’t expecting, and you will need to read the book to know more. It’s so good, I refuse to spoil it for you.

Different from the usual paranormal, supernatural werewolf stories I read. I am always on the lookout for something different, something a little more…This rrrrighteously wonderful surprise made me stay up until three in the morning, because I had to get to the action packed, riveting, heart pounding ending.

Despite The Fangs is not my first Dylan Newton story and it will not be my last. She has a way of taking the run of the mill story and flipping it upside down and inside out, with her excellent writing that will surprise and delight.

“Anyway, I’ve got to go. Thanks so much. I…enjoyed my time with you. Bear mauling, and tranquilizer gun aside, it’s rare to find a guy that’ll accept me. Ask the three little pigs. Or the brat with the red riding cape.”

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Despite The Fangs by Dylan Newton.

How Ari and Mason meet is clever and the best (and most exciting) introduction for a hero and heroine I've read in a long time. Dylan Newton has a talent for the paranormal, making it feel normal and real. This is only the second werewolf story I've read, and Dylan did it so effortlessly that I didn't have a problem understanding werewolf ways or their world. She wrote about Ari in wolf form so well I could clearly picture a wolf doing everything she described.

I absolutely love Ari! She's not your typical heroine, which is why she's so refreshing. She has uni brow problems and underarm hair long enough to braid (after she's been in wolf form for a long time). And she's a tough cookie, a true Alpha female with a sharp tongue and incredible powers. She's so real, and so much fun!

And Mason is one sexy man-beast! He is handsome, strong and seductive . . . the right combination. I wish I had a Mason in my life (lion tattoo and all) to cook me vanilla pudding. *wink*

Despite the Fangs is a steamy, funny and thrilling story all in one. The secrets that unfold are juicy (And boy, there are a lot of them!), and there were twists I did not expect. Despite the Fangs isn't just a paranormal romance, it's also an action-adventure. The moments leading up to the climax are exciting and unpredictable, and the ending is perfect. I can't wait to read more about Ari and Mason!

This is a fun, paranormal, adult romance in which a werewolf comes up against something even she can't handle. Ari is an expert tracker and finds lost hikers and kidnap victims for a living, with her brother Justin running their firm and keeping in contact by clever miniature devices. Ari's wolf senses give her a great advantage.

When hiker Mason Grey enters Ari's world she is attracted to his scent, but she has sworn off men since her fiancé decided he could not marry her and keep her secret. Wolfdom has its advantages, though she could do without the shedding and the fast-growing human leg and eyebrow hairs. Mason leads Ari into a tense adventure as the action moves from pine-clad mountains to sunny Florida.

I enjoyed the way that the wolf was shown to experience the world, and if the romance was a little obvious, maybe that's because the pair are such a good match. Paranormal fans will definitely relish this one; more so because the wolf is not tied about with pack rules and regulations.

First off this was a first reads winner for me, and it was awesome. This novel was suspenseful, filled with action, and quivering passion. How Aribella and Mason met was genius. Their instant attraction wonderful to behold. While Mason never really lied to her he kept her much in the dark about what was going on - only telling her what she needed to know until the very end. BioEuphen is a degenerate, good for nothing, hostage baring, slave facility and it was good to see it go down!

Love the "big bad wolf"! Ari is a wonderful werewolf heroine - tough, passionate and witty. Mason is a sexy, dreamy hero - with a twist. No spoiler happening here. A must read book - it's unique plot twists will keep you turning the page.

great read

this book was engaging and held my interest. I've been reading a lot of romance stories and this one was more interesting because of the wolf storyline.

A farily unintelligent heroine, but a nice story
