** This is the 2nd book in The Good Bye Trilogy*** Mature audiences ONLY. May be questionably graphic in one scene. Johnny Lennox, lead guitarist of Love Sick Ponies, tried to love once. Diligent, loving, attentive, and giving, he is not. Obsessive. Compulsive. Self-sabotage. That sounds more like it. And why not? Jules Delaney, the one girl he ever tried to love, is gone and her absence continues to ruin his life in and out of the band. Emily McDonald got the word “nice” when she was twelve. Nice. Nice. Nice. She is a nice woman. Because she is so nice - her husband likes to cheat, her friends like to take advantage of her, and her self-esteem is dead. Late one night, Johnny and Emily find themselves sleeping only a few feet away from one another – an awkward situation that can’t be rectified. Until… They begin to share their experiences from childhood into adulthood. They experience unexplained events together. Ultimately, they rock the LSP tour bus, where they find a different kind of love in one another. When the tragedy strikes, they must ignore their instinct, expectations, and other people's judgment to fight for one another. Were they artificial or did they fall into the genuine kind of love?

Oh Johnny Johnny Johnny...how much I despised you in Plastic Confidence and you know what they say...the higher you rise, the lower you fall and boy oh boy did he fall. Into the crazy world of obsession, mental and physical abuse of himself and crashing to the point that all the best therapists in the world or even his beloved bandmates threats to oust him from the band, was not enough to completely pull him from the dark pits of hell he found himself in after he lost Jules. In this sorry state we find Johnny as this book opens and yet I found myself strangely compelled to feel sympathy for him...he was a badass rocker with very little moral compass when it came to women and yet deep down there is a tiny spark of something real and compassionate. Enter Emily, Julia's childhood friend (one of the threesome who stuck together like glue) and someone who also had the out of this world experience with that infamous Ouija board that forever changed her life. Always being told she was a "nice" girl (her word) she "niced" herself into an abusive relationship, then unhappy marriage and ultimately her heartbreaking and failed union would be the thing that almost ended her. Johnny becomes something he and we the readers, never knew he was capable of being and in that life altering change, both he and Emily learn more about themselves than they ever wanted to know. This book left me crushed...one of those books that makes your gut ache and you feel like you are on the verge of tears as you keep reading hoping it will somehow turn around. For as much pain the story caused me, it also made me laugh out loud in more than a few places (I will NEVER look at spaghetti with mushroom sauce the same way ever again!) and the ability for a book to bring out so many emotions and "feels" when I read is just brilliant. You will laugh, you might cry, you will definitely get heated up in a few places (that Johnny is a sexy sexy man) and ultimately you will cheer on the former manwhore who has maybe found "the one" who will turn his life completely around. A shocking ending left me stunned but not completely surprised and I definitely can NOT wait for the final book to see how things will play out in the very end. An amazing and beautifully tragic second book in the series. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
***** 5 ***** "nothing artificial about my love for this book" stars
How I ask you, was Alisa Mullen going to write a book about Johnny?!! All I could think was he better get what's coming to him!
Artificial Love: A Suspense and Crazy Love Story is about Emily & Johnny. Both have been destroyed by people in their past, both looking for someone to make them feel like they are loved, like they belong.
At 12yrs old Emily was not ready for the truths revealed to her by Grace.
NICE
How can one seemingly sweet word, destroy the life of one person?
The word nice has haunted and plagued Emily for years ... and not only has that word reared it ugly head time & time again. But Grace decided to implement herself into staple moments of Emily's life.
Well Emily finds that she's had enough of nice . Nice has become a synonym for door mat and she can't and won't take it any longer. Escaping her life lands her at broken rock star Johnny Lennox's door.
HA! Have you missed Johnny?... Broken Love Sick Pony, Johnny is still pinning away for Julia. In his unhealthy and sick way. I was so angry for the way he tried to ruin Julia's life in Plastic Confidence. I found him to be so lost to his desires for her that there was no coming back!
Well remember how I stated above that I hope he got what he had coming to him? .....Gone is my despise of Johnny. My heart went out to him and what can only be described as his soul mate. Well I want what's coming to him whole heartily, but my desires for what that entais has done a 180.
Watching Johnny transform into the man he was meant to be, and watching him love the woman he was created for was beautiful and heartbreaking.
I loved this book. It had more of the mystery involving Grace that I thought was missing in the 1st book. (which I did enjoy FYI, but must say this has to be my favorite book By Alisa!) If you enjoyed Plastic Confidence than sit back because Alisa is going to blow you away with Artificial Love.
When you get to the end please remember this
I have sent my threats to the author. If we don't get the 3rd book soon we will begin the revolution.
I recently read the first book in this series, Plastic Confidence, and completely fell in love with it, and Alisa’s writing. When the opportunity to read Artificial Love came, I couldn’t wait to read Johnny’s story. This book was equally amazing but so completely different!
Johnny Lennox is a rock star, a manwhore and a complete headcase! His obsession with his ex-girlfriend/ex-bandmate, Jules, is beyond out of control and it is affecting all aspects of his life.
Emily McDonald is a housewife, a nice woman and a complete pushover! Since the age of 12, Emily has always been the nice girl, never causing any trouble or rocking the boat, even at her own expense.
When Emily is no longer able to ignore her husband’s incessant cheating, she ends up on the doorstep of her childhood friend Jules Delaney only to find a broken down Johnny Lennox.
These two emotionally damaged people come together and create a completely unorthodox friendship that grows into an emotional love affair. Is their brand new love strong enough to withstand an unimaginable tragedy?
I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book and found myself running the full gamut of emotions all the way from laughing out loud to bawling my eyes out. There is one scene in this book that is so powerful that if I think about it, even now days later, it makes me emotional. Alisa writes her characters in a way that has you completely invested in everything that happens to them and that connection makes for a truly enjoyable reading experience. I don’t want to give too much more away about this story but you definitely want to pick this one up! Alisa, you better write fast girl, I am ready for more!!!
My Review Oh Johnny...you need to stop making my heart hurt! I've been a little in love with this messed up little puppy for a long time now! He's the kind of character that you want to slap with one breath and hug the hell out of him with the next...but whichever emotion he evokes in you....trust me, he'll evoke one!! Emily is ''Nice'' she's nice to the point where she apologises to the woman her cheating sod of a husband is sleeping with when she walks in on them! She's ''Nice'' to the point where she gets trampled by every single person she meets. i kinda want to slap some evil into her!! Unfortunately, life seems to do enough of that. Nice guys always finishes last i suppose. This book is truly something different for Alisa...she has always been a funny lady but up until now, i wouldn't have said that her books were laugh out loud-giggling to yourself days later- kinda funny! (Pasta sauce...once you've read the book...come talk to me because even writing this i'm giggling!) The intricate mesh of hilarity and serious themes were sewn together utterly seamlessly! I'll freely admit to being a little hesitant to read this however! 'Plastic Confidence' is easily in my top 10 books of all time and i was terrified that this could be the chubby little sister of a companion...well, when i'm wrong, i say i'm wrong! and boy was i wrong!!! 'Artificial Love' had moments of extreme hilarity and moments that were so raw, so full of emotion, that my breath caught in my throat. This is the first book in a long time that has left me with that ''Wait...WTF...NOOOOOO!! you can NOT do this!!!! nooooo!!'' feeling when you finish! lets just say...Alisa, you're amazing but you need to tie yourself to your laptop and give me 'Elastic Hope' absolutely NO toilet breaks! no excuses...i need that bad boy!!

Book: Artificial Love – The Goodbye Series #2 Author: Alisa Mullen Publication Date: 4/1/2015 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne- Book Nook Nuts My Rating: 5 Stars
REVIEW If you have read book 1 in this series you will know Emily is one of the closest friends Julia had growing up until that time when Grace Miller was killed. But what we do not know is the secret Emily has carried with her all these years. Remember Johnny? he is in the band Love Sick Ponies also and was once a boyfriend of Jules Delaney. Well things have changed since then. Johnny is seeing a shrink to help him work out his issues. Like? Well lets just say he is obsessed with Jules still.
Emily however is more screwed up just like how Jules was from that damn game board. She thought it was ok that her husband was cheating on her. Why? Well she had to be NICE.
Emily and Johnny could have something between them but what happens shocked even me. Things I never saw coming and boy it is thrilling to say the least.
This book was awesome. I am enjoying finding out what each girl was told by that Ouija board and how their lives turn out.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review. Alisa Mullen
I received an ARC of Artifical Love by Alisa Mullen in exchange for an honest reveiw. I have to say I loved this book. Book 2 in the series and picks up with Johnny F*N Lennonx (Julia Delaney's ex and Emily McDonald childhood friends of Julia Delaney.
Two of my favorite quotes in the book. “Emily? Those mushrooms aren’t real mushrooms. I mean, yeah, they’re real but they’re hallucinogenic mushrooms. I was storing them in the cupboard because I didn’t want to lose them the next time I tripped out. So… unless you want to see fantastic colors and feel just as amazing, I would suggest ordering pizza.”
“There, on the top shelf, was a big silver pan of spaghetti, covered in Saran Wrap. A large Post-It note said, “Do not eat.”
These two quotes were when Emily was cooking dinner for her and Johnny. I could just picture the look on Em's face when she heard those words from Johnny.
You have to read book 1 before you read this so you can understand who the characters are and know the full meaning behind things.
Alisa did a wonderful job on the story and of course a page turner which I had expected and now I can't wait for book 3 cause of course she leaves you wanting more.
So, when I started this book I was sure that I would HATE Johnny still, but I was wrong. I found myself really liking the person that he became over the course of this book. I liked that once he and Emily met he started to change. Things that never mattered to him before started to matter. Things he never thought he would want, he started to want. And most importantly things he never wanted to let go slowly began to fade away and not be so important to him.
I really enjoyed getting to be apart of how much both Emily and Johnny helped each other move on with their lives. I liked that there friendship and then relationship was so easy to grow. They fit each other perfectly, especially for the things they were both trying to overcome.
I am however a little ticked by the ending. I did not want this book to finish, because I wanted Emily and Johnny's whole story. I wanted a different outcome, even though it was still fulfilling by the complete transformation that Johnny's character made. I just was not ready let go of these characters, just yet. I look forward to the installment of this series!
OMG! If you thought book 1 was full of emotions, this one will knock you out. Emotional overload for me. Poor, Nice-girl Emily, wow, how do you even describe her. It was almost like she was too sheltered, she is nice to the Extreme! At time Emily was just too funny from being so sheltered and not having a clue what happens outside of her perfect little home. OMG what a difference in Johnny from this book compared to book 1. That man has gone from hell and back twice, but so many changes. I am so pleased with how Johnny was at the end of this book. I went through every emotion the characters went through while reading, and then some! Although, I did not like the end. Its a cliff hanger, but not really (hope that makes sense). I'm not understanding the position in which Ethan is at the end, it leaves me feeling very confused. If I am jumping to one conclusion then that is totally messed up of Ethan. If I am wrong then, I need to know what is going on!
This is an author who's previous books I love and I was delighted when Artificial Love popped up on my kindle. I have to say that this book continues the author's great form. My emotions have been on a rollercoaster throughout the book, and just when I thought I could guess what was going to happen I was surprised at a twist in the storyline. Jonny, well he is just a bad boy rocker with a wonderful heart ready and waiting to love. He is real and by no means perfect, but he shows how life can change both good and bad with a little bit of love. Emily is wonderful for Johnny but her past causes problems for her present. Alisa Mullen has shown us a relationship which is gritty, passionate but never perfect. I can't wait to see what comes in the third book of the series. I award this book
Writing wise, this is a fresh new side of Alisa Mullen that we haven’t seen before. Alisa starts off with humor, but then found the perfect blend to bring it back to her usual style. I feel that this is Alisa's greatest writing yet.
Artificial Love will completely make you rethink how you look at Johnny Lennox! It will have you laughing, it will have you seeing fire, and it will have you crying your eyes out.
Emma is the perfect quirky mate for Johnny's obnoxious personality. The chemisrty between the two is so natural and free flowing that you can't help but route for them.
I look forward to reading the final installment, Elastic Hope!

I loved Jules in Plastic Confidence and enjoyed Emmily in this one! Johnny and Em were a great match. I think Em grew on me more than Jules except that when Jules finally realized she was taking Grace's message the wrong way, she turned her life around. After, hearing that from Jules, Em pushed the one guy she could honestly trust and love away. I think my heart broke along with Johnny's!
Wonderfully written. I think that Alisa does an amazing job of making one feel like they have been best friends with the characters for years.
I have always had a soft spot for rocker god Johnny Lennox. He caught my attention in the last book and I couldn't wait for this one to come out. Not that I have FINALLY finished it, I cant wait for more.
Alisa has done another fine job at catching the readers attention and taking them on a wild ride. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, BAM! curve ball. I crack up every time I see Dinkies riding rockets. I love Alisa's writing style and cant wait until her next book takes me away.
I received an ARC of this book. I was blown away from this book. I was so excited to read it as I loved the cover :) And, love this author!! Johnny is such a bad boy but with a good heart. I loved being apart of Emily and Johnny's story together. The ending to this book was not expected! Thanks to the author for sharing their story! It was such an emotional rollercoaster and this author had me sucked in! You do not want to miss this book! Buy it NOW lol!!
I listened to this as an audiobook. After I got used to the narrator, I really enjoyed him. This is one crazy story. It is the second book of the Good Bye Trilogy after Plastic Confidence. There were plenty of twists and turns that I didn't see coming in this book. Very suspenseful. I really enjoy this author's writing style. I can't wait for the last part of the trilogy to come out so I can see how this all wraps up. I completely fell in love with naive Emmy and you will too. She had me laughing and crying. She's just a NICE girl.
I fell in love with Johnny and Emily's story. She made him want to be a better person and they truly love each other. I. Would 're read and 're read this book over and over again. I hope we get a glimpse of then in Elastic Hope. Definitely a must read.
