I love MG books! It's been a long time since I've read a middle grade book, and I was not disappointed. Searching For Darkness takes you on a journey through a decaying world destroyed by dark magic. Edwin is a young boy who lost his parents, but discovers that he has inherited a gift. He sets out to find a book that must be destroyed in order to ensure that dark magic can never be used to rule the world. Edwin faces many obstacles on his journey, but he finds lifelong friendships along the way. ...more

This is the first middle grade book that I have read in a long time. It is filled with adventure, magic, and has a dragon....what more can you ask for. It did seem to fly by a little fast and a lot happens in the week once Edwin discovers his destiny but like I said I haven't read a middle grade book in awhile, so I understand it has to be faster paced to keep the younger readers interested!!

I bought Leah's first book "the Art of Words" and fell in love with her writing. I was super excited that she was releasing a YA novel. As soon as I started reading Searching for Darkness I became addicted. It has an awesome plot, lots of action, adventure and suspense. As you continue reading you really start to love the characters, you feel as if you know them and you care about them. Towards the last few chapters it became really interesting. It left me saying "oh my god!" in disbelief over a ...more

I loved this book! It was a short and nice break from some of my bigger reads. The story was fascinating and easy to follow. It was wonderfully descriptive, and very imaginative. There were creatures I could only dream of in the story. The main character's journey was fun to read as he went through his adventure, facing new challenges as they came along. He made new, interesting friends and he discovered amazing magical powers. The characters were relatable in a way, and at the end there was a t ...more

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review**

This is the first middle grade book I've picked up in a while, and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying it. Typically this genre is not in my comfort zone, but the world Leah Ward has created is packed full of the type of action and adventure all young readers will crave. From the very first page, I was captured by the amount of pure imagination and possibility Edwin's character portrayed. This debut

I won this book from the author off of Instagram. So glad I did. This book was amazing, I really enjoyed the story and the characters. It was exciting, magical, and dramatic. My only complaint would be it sometimes moved a little to fast in some places. It made it a little bit hard to keep up with the story at a couple of points in time. Overall worth the read!

Searching for Darkness is the perfect book for someone looking for a short, to-the-point adventure. It was definitely action packed, never allowing me to get bored. The twist at the end was TOTALLY unexpected, and I thought that the author was very imaginative for thinking up all the obstacles that Edwin and Lena had to go through. Overall, a very good read.

Searching for Darkness, by Leah Ward, is a story of discovery. Literally.Edwin is special: He's part of a legacy but he's totally and utterly oblivious to it. That is, until he's attacked by things no-one else can see and has to hid behind shelter that literally wasn't there before. He is told, by his caregiver that he has a gift, making him a Seer. He's told the truth on where and why his parents died and an explanation to the gift he now has.

His parents were on a mission: to locate the Dark
