Martina Cole was born and brought up in Essex. She is the bestselling author of fourteen novels set in London's gangland, and her most recent three paperbacks have gone straight to No. 1 in the Sunday Times on first publication. Total sales of Martina's novels stand at over eight million copies.
After little time of recent, I finally got stuck in.. I’ve been a fan of Martina Cole for years.. I enjoyed the story line throughout. The back story of the brothers, the ladies of the night. The villain a great twist. This is the first time I’ve read a book where there has been a conjunction of authors. I could tell. I wouldn’t not love any book written by this author but did feel the ending seemed a little rushed. I felt it hadn’t ended . I wouldn’t want to spoil anything so I won’t, but had the bodies been recovered. Children’s story explained I may have enjoyed a little more ..
I used to read a huge amount of Martina Cole's book. I loved the authentic grittiness of them and the eventual triumph of the (usually female), underdog. Now the cruelty, disrespect and aggressive violence towards the women's character in particular in this story made me wince over their excessive pain, humiliation and subjugation. I still enjoyed this story with its twists, turns and surprises and can easily recommend it.
