Will the Tyrant be defeated? Will Densa return to the darkness? Will the world perish or be saved? Continue the journey of Evercloud, the brothers Floyd, Densa and more in the fourth and concluding book of the Everflame series, Everflame 4: As The Darkness Waits.
“This book hit me like a philosophical bear with a prophecy complex.”
Everflame 4: As The Darkness Waits is what happens when you take epic fantasy, poetic madness, and soul-splitting stakes... then throw them into a blender powered by prophecy, grief, and plot twists that punch you in the chest.
Dylan Lee Peters doesn’t just write stories, he builds universes, hands you a torch, and dares you to follow his characters through the shadows. Evercloud? Densa? The Tyrant? Everyone’s flawed, fierce, and frighteningly real. And somehow, Peters still finds space to weave in moments that are quietly beautiful amid the chaos.
Also: bears. Magic. Existential despair. Glimpses of salvation. And a finale that made me whisper “no no no no, YES” into the void.
Final verdict: 12/10 would stand between light and darkness again, even without a wine refill. Now please excuse me while I go stare accusingly at the ocean and question my life choices.
In the book "As The Darkness Waits (Everflame, #4)" By Dylan Lee Peters the Tyrant reveals his final, terrible plan. Evercloud and his crew fight the great Tyrant to stop his evil plan, and destroy the entire planet. Will Evercloud and Densa be strong enough to stop the Tyrant? With this being the last book in the series Dylan Lee Peters had to give it a great finish to such a great series. The problem I had with this book was that there was so many characters and different stories for each character is is almost impossible to address each characters view. In my option, this book could have been split into one or maybe even two more books to explain everything. I kept asking myself what was the point of this character, and what was the point of this scene, and it never seemed to answer these questions. I started to loss interest towards the end, because of how drawn out it was and how it was pretty much tying up the loose ends that Dylan did not have enough time to explain. The book had a great story line with a lot of action, love, hate, good, and evil. Once you start reading this book you are not going to want to put it back down. I love this book so much that I wish they made a book five! I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
This was a disappointing ending to a fantastic series.
I absolutely would still recommend reading it, since it wraps up all of the story lines set forth in the previous books, but as far as the quality goes, it pales in comparison to the other three. The main problem was that there were too many threads of the plot to wrap up for just one book (or at least one book of this length.) There was too little time spent, so while conflicts were resolved, they were resolved too quickly. Also, having read the third book (the one before this) over a year before this one, I found it very challenging to pick it back up. The author (possibly because of everything he had to cram into this book) picks up right where he left off and assumes the reader remembers every detail from the last book. I struggled with a lot of names and places. This book could have benefited from being longer, being split into two books, or having some sort of guide in the front or back for characters/locations/etc.
Although the series started off with a different tone and directions it truly came together at the end. Although the ending May no have been the one I hoped for it was none the less filled with meaning and a message we can all contend with. That no matter who you are it is your actions that make you a good person not your past.
In this book I kind of lost interest towards the end. I see the meanings of the book. But really what was the purpose of Steven Everheart? Just a side track that was unnecessary, unless I missed something. Basically a battle between good and evil.
As I mentioned in my review of Book 3, there is just so much going on that it is hard to keep up at times. So many characters. So many plot lines. And the ending was a bit of a let down after the crescendo that is Book 4. But despite this, the series is still really good! Maybe in 5 years I will read it all over again.
well written and always intriguing.....don't pass this series up!! I'm glad I waited patiently and was able to reread them all again before delving into the final book...enjoy!
very well written. The fourth installment was more than worth waiting for!! I strongly recommend this series and will more than likely 're read from the beginning
This book pulled a lot of emotions out of me. It was fantastic. The story came together really well. I have already recommended the series to several friends. I'm sure they will enjoy it just as much as I have.
Things got a bit drawn out (although I should have expected that by now) and I waited so long between books that I may have forgotten who some characters are, but I enjoyed it regardless. Really quite an impressive series!!!
