***Authors' Note***
It's possible to only read the Calloway Sisters spin-off series without reading the Addicted series, but you MUST read Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters #2) before reading Fuel the Fire (Calloway Sisters #3).

It's highly recommended to read the books in the recommended reading order, which is in tangent with the Addicted series. If you choose not to read Addicted After All before Fuel the Fire, there will be a time jump.

Fuel the Fire picks up in the Addicted Timeline where Addicted After All ended. FTF will not retell past events from Addicted After All in Rose & Connor's POV. All new material.

“there are rare people who will fuel the fire inside of you, who will awaken a dormant passion, who will challenge you, who will push you and better you. she alone is my rarity.”

♾️⭐️’s. i truly don’t even know where to begin. if you loved “kiss the sky” and thought it was good…let me just tell you that this book takes the cake. this is honestly my second favorite book out of the entire series, as of right now of course🤭while raisy is, and always will be, my favorite couple…it’s impossible for me to rank these beautiful pairs🥹i’d separate the three and rank them in different categories because i love them all for different reasons, but i’ll talk more about this in my review for “some kind of perfect” <3

“you are my equal,” i say this slowly so the words sink in.
“if you could kill me, knowing that i’d be replaced with the same features, but with your exact personality, would you do it?” she questions.
“no,” i answer without a beat. “it would be pointless to date someone just like me. i would know every move, every desire, everything. i adore the way you polarize me.”

coballoway🥹academic rivals to lovers. their relationship is everything to me, i love everything about it. they’re so different from any other couple i’ve ever read about. i love the way they challenge each other, how they both refuse to be wrong. i love how they speak french to each other when they argue/flirt. i love that they take quotes from their own/each other’s favorite books to express their love🥹i love their banter…

“is that a smile?”
“no,” she says. “it’s a hateful frown.”
“if we’re going to rename all of societies constructs, then i’ll be sure to call that sink a table and the ceiling the floor.”
“you’re infuriating.”
“you’re gorgeous.”
~stop it rn, i’m blushing.

i love the games they play…from a simple chess game, to fuck marry kill, to a more complicated, coballoway version of a crossword puzzle, and finally to a game they play where one asks a random trivia question and if they get it wrong…they have to be ignored for 24 hours straight.

“first word that comes to you,” he tests me, probably right at 10a.m.—not a minute too late. he shifts his hand off my mouth, his body and mind meeting mine at once. “rose.”
“love.” i say in one breath.

they got me wanting to ignore my bf for 24 hours because this whole scene was unexplainably hot…speaking of hot, the spicy scenes between connor and rose have the most effect on me. when i tell you guys i get the exact same feeling in my stomach as if i was on a roller coaster going down a 100 foot drop🦋🦋…connor is so fine. i love how he dominates rose in the bedroom but is her complete equal outside of the bedroom. let me just say…he uses his belt to choke her. i was screamingggggg.

i grip her face in a strong hand and kiss her lips. “c’est tout?” anything else?
she lets out another breath. “ne soyez pas gentil.” don’t be gentle.
i can’t even remember the last time that i was. “i wasn’t planning on it.

is he hot? or is he just…connor cobalt? love a good rhetorical question ;) and if y’all thought all that was hot…connor as a dad!?!?! i can’t handle it😩i think my favorite thing about coballoway is how they parent. connor has always wanted kids, 8 to be exact. rose, on the other hand, didn’t want kids until way later on in the future in fear of being just like her mother. rose has never really been an affectionate person so every time i read about her with jane…i could not stop smiling.
- her eyes well with tears, but her lips close, her wail vanishing. she sniffs, and i even wipe beneath her nose. what i do for this one. i kiss her smooth cheek and whisper, “tu es forte, ma farouche petite fille.” you are strong, my little fierce girl.
SOBBING😭jane is so precious and the way rose is with her absolutely melts my heart every time. connor’s problem used to be his ability to love, so seeing connor being so lovey with his daughter is one of my favorite things ever🥺
- “a child, our child, unlatches things inside of us that we’ve kept closed. love, for me. warmth, for her. i selfishly crave another one. i selflessly would ruin my reputation to protect every child of mine.”
- “i love jane, and i feel strong enough to move mountains for her, to part waters and dig through stone.”
i love the way connor selflessly loves jane🥹he’s a total girl dad hehe.

“mommy’s going to drop kick anyone that touches you.”
“and daddy’s going to bail mommy out of jail.”
~just adopt me already😩rose and connor would do anything for jane just like they’d do anything for their family (lilo and raisy)🥹

as much fun as i was having with coballoway…a big chunk of this book absolutely broke me. i’m still trying to recover from it😩it’s one of the reasons why i’m taking so long with this review. connor and rose have always done a good job at hiding their emotions…connor doing a better job than rose, but all that goes down the drain when the people they care about get hurt. seeing rose and connor be vulnerable with each other actually made me sob. it was too much. i felt all the pain they were keeping inside and when they finally let it all out…i was done for :(

i whisper, “i can hear our hearts breaking.”
a tear wets my fingertips, his tears, and his other hand encases my face, the way mine does him.
his lips nearly skim mine. “i’ll shield your ears from the sound of heartbreak.”
my chest swells. “and what happens when i ache to hear your voice?”
“i’ll whisper beyond every anguished sound.” he closes his lips over mine, once, before murmuring, “tu m’entendras toujours, où que je sois.” you will always hear me, no matter where i am.
“and can you still hear me?” i wonder, a breath between our lips.
“toujours.” always.

this scene and how it made me feel is forever engraved into my mind. finding it within themselves to be vulnerable with each other, i know, wasn’t easy, but it just goes to show how much they love and care about each other to show that side of them. connor and rose’s character development is so good and this book has definitely shown the best versions of them. i adore them so much and could talk about them for hours and hours, but this review is already so long and i still want to talk about the rest of the core six🤭

♡connor and lo🥹
finding out what connor and rose did for lily and lo…i sobbed. what coballoway did were things that they would never do, but they did what they had to do in order to protect their family and when i say family…i’m not just referring to their daughter. the core six and their children are all a family, no one else in these books allowed hehe. connor and lo’s relationship has pretty much always been connor helping lo in anyway possible…guys😭
- “you’ve helped me for years. now it’s time i help you, and i’m not acting like you’re a leper because this guy tells me to. you may be fucking weird as hell when you and rose start verbally sparring, but you’re my weirdo best friend. that’s not changing.”
😭i love them sfm. love their friendship and i especially love their banter🤭

♡connor and ryke omg🥹
the way they’ve gotten so close makes me so happy. 9 time out of 10 these two always have me laughing. the banter with ryke is sometimes funnier because unlike lo, ryke doesn’t banter back hahaha.

“you’re such a pain in my ass.” he says lightly, heading towards the locker rooms where the girls are.
i follow beside him. “impossible,” i say, “i’ve never been near your ass.”
he flips me off, the usual response. our friendship may be off but at least i can call it one.
~😂🥹🤭i love them <3

then there’s moments between them that make me wanna cry because of how nice they are to each other and how they would do anything for each other. i’m tearing up now just thinking about it. connor’s never had friends either before ryke and lo. ugh i love the found family🤭
- “maybe i haven’t seen beneath all of ryke meadows’ layers, but i do know one thing: we’re good friends. i’d do just about anything for him, and i’m certain he’d do the same for me.”
yes he would🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

‼️spoilers ahead besties <3

♡the calloway sisters🥹
these three🥺being able to see them form a closer bond has been nothing but beautiful. rose and connor choosing daisy and ryke to be jane’s godparents🥹and then lily and lo choosing connor and rose to be moffy’s godparents. i CRIED. that was so beautiful and it literally made rose cry too. daisy omg :( my sunshine girl. she’s going through so much and yet her light is still so blinding. i ache for her. the scene where she told her sisters she has endometriosis. that is my absolute biggest fear so when i tell you guys it took my bf half an hour to calm me down from sobbing…i wasn’t lying :( i am absolutely dreading the final book of the series before the epilogue novel. i just know i’m gonna need to have my large box of tissues on standby🤧omg and then rose telling daisy to save her eggs and rose will carry daisy’s baby, however many she wants to have…sobbed. absolutely sobbed. then when rose and connor moved out of the house just down the street :( that had no business being that fucking sad of an ending to this book :( i wasn’t ready. i love these three women with my entire fucking heart.

‼️spoilers done <3

♡coballoway’s unforgettably cute moments:
i grin. “rose, rose, rose,” i feign contemplation, “always making me work for the win.” just how i like it.
“richard, richard, richard,” she practically smites my name. and then she pauses, her eyes drilling into me. “go win.”
~i love it when she calls him by his first name🤭

i stroke the back of her head. “you make me forget the worst parts of life.”
“and what’s the term for that?”
“soul mate,” i say.
her lips part in surprise. “what?”
“if you’d like other terms, i have those too: my wife, my sometimes competitor, my always teammate, my friend, the mother of my child—“
“rewind,” she waves at me. “to the soul mate part.”
i smile. “i love you, rose.”
~i want this man. i am absolutely swooning. butterflies in my tummy. absolutely in love with this man.

when i finally unearth the tempest i flip open the cover. sticky notes lie inside the margins. dozens of them, his neat scrawl in blue ink. i thumb through the pages, my heart racing. he annotated it.
shakespeare’s words: “i would not wish any companion in the world but you.”
connor’s annotation: nothing is truer
his lips to my ear, he whispers, “hear my soul speak.” i feel his grin against my cheek.
it’s beautiful. my favorite play with his real thoughts combined.
~HE ANNOTATED HER FAVORITE PLAY!?!?! shut up rn. stop it cuz if my man annotated my favorite book and gifted it to me…i will immediately have his babies. this scene was so beautiful and it’s definitely my favorite🥹🤭

♡favorite moments/thoughts💭
- coballoway is perfect, no one can tell me otherwise.
- #RCCthisislove🤭
- on daisy’s birthday, ryke bought her a siberian husky as a service dog for her ptsd😭i adore him.
- finally knowing coballoways wedding vows🥹so precious.
- the bar scene🥵🥵🥵rose is so lucky.
- connor standing up for himself instead of letting shit slide. slayyyyy!
- the core six rock climbing in a gym lollll i loved that.
- ryke and connor speaking to each other in french and then connor changing to itlaian to figure out what languages ryke knows. they’re both so fineeeee.
- jane’s first words🥹this scene was everything.
- every little lilo moment, i ate all that up because i miss my babies sm.

♡favorite quotes:
- “she fuels the fire in my soul, the embers slowly dying, and she tries feverishly to awaken me.”
- “but i have every real part of him. every part i love. even if the world may not understand him, i do.”
- “one day, jane," i whisper, "you'll surpass me in all ways. i hope you do.” i think about more children, a fog of a future. “i hope you all do.”
- “rose is so many layers of beautiful that even i’d have trouble touching each one.”
- “i know i’ve married the right person when words turn you on as much as they do me.”
- “you should never hate the better version of you, the one that loves, the one that hurts—because this man in front of me is extraordinary.” her words flood me, choke me, grip me and burn me.
- “i’ve been split open. i’ve been spilled bare. i’ve allowed her spirit to seep inside of me—to remind me, remind me…why i love.”
- “i want many things. the first of which is to protect my girls. then i want to have more children. lastly i want my family to feel safe and loved and complete.”
- “i’ve been dealt a fuller set of cards than the ones passed to lily and daisy. they’re just as strong, if not stronger. i’ve always been here as extra reinforcement, and however old we become, however gray we are, that won't ever change.”
- “i’ve never seen daisy as radiant as she is in ryke’s presence.”
- “my life is dull without loren hale.”
- “i have no guilt about my decision to tell the truth. that i slept with men in my past. i am proud of the choices i’ve made in life, and i won't let other people dig beneath my skin and make me feel ashamed of who i am.” PERIOD!!!! connor is so baeeeee!🤭🤭

ps: i’m already sobbing because of “long way down” and i haven’t even opened the book yet🤧

I whisper, “I can hear our hearts breaking.”
A tear wets my fingertips, his tears, and his other haind encases my face the way mine does him. His lips nearly skim mine. “I’ll shield your ears from the sound of heartbreak.”

i’m feeling ✨untouchable✨

“I’m always whomever or whatever people need me to be,” I say strongly, “but you were the only one who needed me to be me.”
She nods with tears brimming her eyes. “I can hear your heart beating.”
My lips pull higher, and I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “It beats in equal time with yours.” I kiss the hollow of her neck and whisper, “Toujours.”
Always.

let it be known that i support #RCCthisislove with all my heart. they’re so perfect and beautiful in this!! the way they fight for each other, for their future, for their family, for their love, it makes my heart melt. coballoway just hit different. 🤍

officially my new comfort read, even if it broke my heart a million times. 🕊️

“Broken souls are mended every day by mended souls that were once broken.”

Fuel the Fire is a Calloway spin off, but is the 8th book in the Addicted series. After reading 8 Addicted books in the last month or two, I am so invested in these characters lives and captivated by these books- I just want more. You know how some series go on too long and you’re like… how many books are they gonna put out? Well, the Addicted series is NOT like that. In fact, the Ritchie girls could write as many books they wanted about these characters and I would be first in line to read them!!!

Connor and Rose Cobalt have a daughter they love, a close knit family/group of friends, and they’re both doing what they want in life. Things would be perfect if it wasn’t for the media attention- especially when it’s on their child. So they do what they have to do and make sacrifices to keep the attention off the children.

 photo 74104EF7-F4AB-4FE9-B9F1-C43DB0EF21F8_zpsyhnfa2fe.jpg

Connor Cobalt is an intelligent man. He’s a man who could have never been hurt in the past, because he never let anyone close enough. People were pawns. But now that he has Rose, Jane, and Lo etc- he has love in his life. People who mean something to him. When you love someone more than your self, you are vulnerable to that. When Connor gets into a situation of sorts- he knows what he has to do. Protect his family at any cost.

Connor and Rose are two special characters. They started out as what appeared to be the most unfeeling of the bunch, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. They love hard. They accept each other. Things from Connor’s past come out and what I love so much is how Rose reacts. She knows and loves everything about Connor. She wants him to handle it however he sees fit and she is not ashamed by him or how he feels. Connor and Rose are so special to me. I love how Connor explains himself because really, people are just people.

“I’m attracted to people. To the words they speak, to the actions they take, to their full-bodied mannerisms and soulful gaits. I am attracted to people. To impassioned hearts that beat out of sync, the ones that skip a measure, heard in hushed places and violent spaces—I am attracted to people.”

 photo F5E60BC9-C461-48F4-828B-BCBBA892203F_zpswawd4ncw.jpg

I feel like when I’m reading these books, I can’t even handle my emotions. I cry more often then I normally would because these characters are so real to me. Lily’s twitter campaign had me in tears even! Then what Daisy is going through… that is so close to my heart. And what Rose is willing to do for her- I can’t even think about it without tearing up! There are so many beautiful moments in this book, I couldn’t begin to list them all. Connor’s speech- this line in particular was especially beautiful
I purposefully spent two hours with a girl who wore passion like a dress made of diamonds and hair made of flames. Every day of my life, I am enamored. Every day of my life, I am bewitched. And every day of my life, I spend it with her.

This series has made it’s way to the top of my favorites series list. I love it so much. Fuel the Fire is an emotional, captivating and stunning story of love, family and friendship. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it ended with a huge smile on my face. I can’t recommend these books enough. I’m so excited for the next and final book in this series which will be out later this year.

**SPOILER-FREE REVIEW**
5++ STARS! ★★★★★

"So long as I may be living, I live with you."

It's gonna be tough to review an amazing book without giving away the best parts of it; it's like trying to figure Connor out without seeing the deepest parts of him. The best reads are the ones I'd tell you to go in blind and experience them for yourselves but regardless, I'll try my best to give this book the justice it deserves although I know there will never be enough words to express the beauty that is this read.

So you know you've read a great book when it leaves a huge smile on your face or when it consumes you once you put it down. But you know you've read an epic one when you've walked out of the read feeling like you've been shot in the chest multiple times by a platoon of emotions and leaves an everlasting effect on you thereafter. This is it.

When the Ritchie twins said this was one of the toughest books they've written especially when it involves two of the (literally) smartest characters in the book universe, they probably didn't realize that they have undoubtedly written their absolute BEST work to date. If you think Kiss the Sky was your most favorite one in the series, then you won't know what's about to hit you with Fuel the Fire.

Fuel the Fire, similar to Kiss The Sky where it centers around Connor & Rose, will have their story be elevated onto a whole new level as the stakes are higher now with their loved ones on the line. It's going to be an intense ride as buried pasts will resurface and with enemies lurking in the shadows just waiting to tear everyone apart. Rose & Connor has always been the more mature pair, the responsible duo and the ones that believe that they can fix anything. But when a secret threatens everything they've fight so hard for, will their brilliance and love be enough to withstand it all?

Without giving too much away, I'll just say that FtF will shed a lot of light on Connor and he will in fact, be pushed to limits like never before. What we've gotten from the entire series so far is merely the tip of the iceberg; you know Connor as the narcissistic, conceited smartass who's at equal with Rose, the only woman he's ever capable of loving. The notion of emotions is what Connor deemed as a weakness in the human nature, he is a man of control and above all, he will always win. But times have changed and with more at stake, for the first time ever...Connor actually cracks under the pressure.

What makes this read stands out from the entire series is how fantastic the dynamics of Rose & Connor have evolved since KtS; their fierce loyalty to each other is ever present but there's just so much more depth to their relationship that us readers have yet to see. Both of them are complex characters on their own, they're manic in their own ways but in this and every alternate universe, they're perfect for each other. They'd go through Hell and back if it means protecting the ones they loved most.

Their love is unique in ways people cannot even begin to comprehend because it cannot be seen; it can only be felt through the power of the words that they utter to each other in private. Every word counts, every exchange between them have weight and every scene between them gives the story more depth. It was just the most beautiful kind of love to witness.

Double the banters, double the intensity, double the sexiness and most of all, quadruple the emotions. This one has completely blew all the other books out of the water and left a mighty wake of destruction behind. And by that, I meant my heart was completely wrecked and destroyed single-handedly by a read so powerful that had me sobbing into my pillow at night and crying silently in the back of my parents' car. The twins had the ability to channel such strong emotions through their writing that tore me apart and later rebuild me up again.

I say this with so much certainty: Krista & Becca are forces to be reckoned with and even after putting out 8 books in this series, they keep setting the bar higher with each one. Their writing is just one-of-a-kind that makes you believe that these fictional characters are your real-life friends. You feel the pain, the love, the joy; their highest of highs and their lowest of lows. In each book, it's never just one couple that you read about but it's the entire gang and each individual relationship is so unique that when it's all pieced together, it gives birth to a magnificent universe.

There is just no other NA series that can come close to the Addicted series and with each read, I fall in love with the characters harder than before. It encompasses more than just a love story between a couple but there's family, friends, siblings and much more. Throughout the series, the twins constantly tackled some heavy and sensitive issues brilliantly instead of just sweeping them under the rug and that's really something to be commended for.

If you had to ask me to choose one NA series that I would recommend to you in this lifetime, I'd choose the Addicted series in a heartbeat. From amazing character dynamics to undoubtedly talented writing, the Ritchie twins continue to outdo themselves with each instalment. I find myself completely immersed in this world they've built and wishing that I could spend an eternity with these characters. Just absolute perfection & easily a top read of 2015 for me, I simply cannot recommend this series enough!

Fuel the Fire is the 3rd book in the Calloway Sisters spinoff series and must be read in order. It must also be read after Addicted After All as it contains spoilers.

Fuel the fire was so unlike kiss the sky and I can’t wrap my head around how much more I loved it. I expected to laugh, be entertained, see the growth that followed after addicted after all, and some drama—but I didn’t expect to get emotional?! I just wanted to hug Connor and rose

”There are rare people who will fuel the fire inside of you, who will awaken a dormant passion, who will challenge you, who will push you and better you. She alone is my rarity.

Connor and roses strength and new found vulnerability in letting their guard down was incredibly bittersweet to witness—I loved it 🥺 The exponential character growth between them was so real and remarkable. I really have to commend Krista and Becca for knowing how to excel at accomplishing that. There was so much more depth and layers to their characters—I was in awe of it all and simultaneously left heartbroken at some point too. I’m so happy certain people got what they deserved. But the things they did to ensure their whole family was protected from the harsh reality ongoing?? Completely selfless. I’m so proud of my brainiacs who’ve also persevered through their own fair share of hardships rooted in the past and present.

I’m gonna miss all the mind and literal games between them, their banter and snarky comments towards each other and the others, their impenetrable bond, speaking in french, Connors inflated ego yet insanely huge heart, roses fierceness/cold exterior with the kindest heart, the bromance between Connor and lo—even with ryke (I know I’m shocked too but I loved the way not just lo but both of them defended Connor and each other), Connor & roses interactions with Jane completely melting my heart, the bond between rose and her sisters that made me wish I had the same relationship with my own (excluding poppy bc her character was irrelevant) they exemplified the true meaning of sisterhood and how amazing it is to have genuine caring people in your corner against all odds. I literally teared up during certain scenes with them especially the last ugh 🥲

I loved the lilo crumbs we got and I adored the core 6 as a whole here. This family with all their struggles, growth and their strength coming from having one another—i loved it all and can’t wait to see everything coming full circle in the final book.

Breaking from the series again for awhile until I’m ready to finish the last 2 books which idk when that’ll be 😭

sharing few of the moments that tugged on my heart and it’s nothing compared to everything I highlighted

I whisper “I could hear our hearts breaking.” MINE TOO. this scene broke me
“She fuels the fire in my soul, the embers slowly dying, and she tries feverishly to awaken me.”
“We never touched, but I made love to your mind.”
“I know I’ve married the right person when words turn you on as much as they do me.” I read deeper into that, as I should. Translation: I could only ever be with you, Rose. ”
“Broken souls are mended every day by mended souls that were once broken.”
“You should never hate the better version of you, the one that loves, the one that hurts—because this man in front of me is extraordinary”
“I don't live for money or for titles or achievements like I used to. I live for people. There is nothing greater than that.”
“Ensemble,” she whispers in French. Together.”
“I see ten, thirty, fifty, sixty years with you, and I see us returning to this place. I see us old and at the end of our lifelines, staring out at this water, on this bridge as consumed by love as we're tragically consumed now”

"Broken souls are mended every day by mended souls that were once broken."

I believe in Coballoway supremacy 🛐
There's no one like Connor and Rose on this planet or in any other universe. ACADEMIC RIVALS to LOVERS it's their trope!

"When I was seventeen you said you wanted to perform an autopsy on me, to crack open my ribcage and squeeze my heart until it burst between your fingers. What is that—if not flirting?"
She lifts her head off a pillow to near me, “That was me hating you, Richard. I dreamed of your death.”
“You dreamed of clutching my heart,” I rebut. “Of killing you,” she emphasizes. I lean closer to her, our eyes locking.
“Vous m’aimiez.” You loved me."

It's always been so beautiful to watch these two in love. They both are so confident and intimidating. Like hell even I would call "Connor the immortal God" and "Rose the immortal queen" They are the most powerful couple in this series and the most selfless people I have ever read about. The way they carry themselves, the way they care about their loved ones, the way they would do anything when I say anything it means they would go to any lengths to protect their children and their family. It's everthing for me. And I hate it when the whole media and the world questions there choices, their marriage and their behaviour just because these two are different from other people. They deserve everything in this world and nothing less.

I love their banters, their mind games, the way they mess with each other, the way they both always know what the other one is thinking just by staring in each other's eye, their rules, the way they both comfort each other, the way Rose glares at Connor and say "I hate you Richard." and he shows his million dollar grinning smile to her and says "you love me.", the way she shut his mouth with her hand because she find Connor's smile annoying, the way they talk in french and its hot as hell, and the way Connor always assures Rose that she's his equal in every manner and they both will always fight together side by side.

“You make me forget the worst parts of life.” She actually smiles, “And what’s the term for that?”
I think for a moment. A person who shrouds the painful moments, who conspires to make joyful ones. Who eliminates all the mundane shades in favor of ardent colors and keeps you burning alive. Is there a word for this rare person in someone’s life? I think there is.
“Soul mate,"

Aren't they perfect 😭💗 there'll never be a Connor without Rose and Rose without Connor. They are soulmates 💗

Its everything and purely perfect 😭💗
They both stand still even when the world around them is shattering into pieces and they both deserves atleast a semblance of peace in their life. I don't how they both do it and are constantly fighting a battle of their own and even for their children all the while protecting everything they ever loved.

The start of this book felt slow. Connor and Rose decided to do those experiments to keep the media away from Jane and Moffy. It broke my heart everytime they had to something they both aren't comfortable with especially Rose because she's not into PDA and they had to do some wild things in the open. I hate Scott with all my heart and for what he made Connor do and how he kept messing up with their lives. This man deserves to burn in hell 🔪
My heart aches for Daisy and what she has to go through. I love how Ryke is always there for her no matter what. They both are so similar in so many matters and I'm glad that they find comfort and love in each other's company. Lily and Lo are still fighting their addictions all the while protecting their son and they both have overcome so much and I love them so much.

So much was happening like those experiments, and then the question about Connor's sexuality. Seriously let my man do whatever he wants and it was all in past then why the hell they care so much about who he has slept with.
And the scene where Rose and Connor broke down because of how the world was calling their marriage a 'sham marriage'. It shattered my heart in worst possible way...

"I can hear our hearts breaking."
A tear wets my fingertips, his tears, and his other hand encases my face, the way mine does him. His lips nearly skim mine. "I’ll shield your ears from the sound of heartbreak."

One things that I liked most was that whatever happened in Connor's past but Ryke and Lo never treated him different. They still love him and respect him for the choices he made and that's the most healthy friendship. I loved all those moments when the core six spent their holidays together. It was just blissful to watch them being happy and in love with each other. No paparazzi. No shittheads like Scott and Jonathan. They all feel like family and I really don't know if I'll ever be able to describe my love for them in words.

Connor Cobalt "The Mastermind"
This man is everything. He is charismatic, has supreme confidence, damn intelligent, and very intimidating. I love how he loves Rose and let his guard down for her and the person he loves. Just being Connor's friend is a great achievement because this man didn't believe in love and friendship. But Rose and Loren changed that for him. He changed so much and I will always love him. I don't care if he is egotistical, narcissist or whatever. He is Connor Cobalt for me. The man who knows how to love and be selfless. He also has the sexy brain. Is that even a thing!? Yeah only Connor has this thing.

"There are rare people who will fuel the fire inside of you, who will awaken a dormant passion, who will push you and better you. She alone is my rarity."

Rose Calloway Cobalt
The way I would do anything just to become this woman. She may be the fierce calloway sister but she has her limits too. She has feelings and emotions too and I hate it when people when say that she is nothing but a cold hearted person. The confidence and power radiates from her and she carries herself like a queen but for her loved ones she would do anything. Rose is the most selfless person in this series for me. Her actions may be rude sometimes but her heart is always so pure. She's the best and I admire her for how she love her sisters.

"I’ve never shied away from who I am, even when people asked me to be softer, quieter or warmer. I’ve proudly remained me."

I can't wait for them to create their empire filled with their children the way they always wanted. They deserve this. And I'll be damned if I don't see more little cobalts running around.

—Favourite Quotes—

➸ "Loving someone else isn’t easy. It doubles pain. It doubles worry. It doubles sentiments that I dislike in one dose. Loving someone else is a complex web of emotions, trying to ensnare me."

I stood right across from him, from that rising grin, and he whispered, "So long as I may be living, I live with you." The strength of his vows beats inside my veins. I reply what I replied nearly three years ago, “In spirit and in mind, I live with you.”
He brushes my tears with his thumb, one kiss away from my lips, he breathes, “I live with you."

➸ "Quick isn’t a word I like when it comes to my wife. Every moment with Rose, I would extend for infinite measures of time. Even the hostile, torrid moments where she tries to light the world, and me, on fire. I love them all."

I whisper. “I’m tragically in love with you, and I wouldn’t want it any other way."

➸ "How do you measure love? Is it by the things we’re willing to do? By the sacrifices we’re willing to make?"

➸ "I was sharing an elevator with a tempestuous, electric storm that I refused to calm. I always wished to be swept into madness, if only for a moment, to truncate the mundane, ordinary moments of my existence."

➸ "If you can’t stand back up, you can always crawl. Don’t forget that."

➸ "She fuels the fire in my soul, the embers slowly dying, and she tries feverishly to awaken me."

➸ "We never touched, but I made love to your mind."

➸ "Ensemble,” she whispers in French. Together.

I'm in love with this series and the characters the way Connor Cobalt is in love with his wife. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.

When this book came out I wasn’t sure I wanted to read it. I thought Kiss the Sky was an amazing enough book that said all that needed to be said about Connor and Rose but I couldn’t be further from the truth. This book is everything. There is maturity. There is exponential character growth. And oh my god, the family bonds and the friendships are stronger and deeper than they’ve ever been before, to the point where I was tearing up in the final quarter of the book as the story knocked me off my feet with heartfelt emotion. And the funny thing is, Fuel the Fire happens to be one of the longest books I’ve read this year yet it felt like it wasn’t long enough. As the book was ending, my only thought was why the story had to end. To me that’s a sure sign this book is a special one, where the story and characters stay with me long after I finish, making me yearn for more.

Since the plot of this story is mostly based off of what happened in previous books, I won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers. What I can say is that this is the second book in Rose and Connor’s POV and concludes their part of the story in this entire Addicted series. This is Rose, Connor, and the rest of the gang in their mid-twenties, so their level of character maturity is well beyond what I’ve read about them in the first few books in this series. Rose and Connor have always been my favorite couple out of the Addicted gang and this book just reinforces that sentiment. They are quite literally the smartest characters I’ve ever read about, and when you put two brainiacs like them together you get a nerd powerhouse. Their banter – while witty and funny – also possesses a level of intelligence that showcases their bright minds and makes me wonder if I should laugh or stare at their words in awe. Probably both :D

“The more you grin like I’m giving you a quickie in a disgusting public bathroom, the more my ovaries wither and die. So just think about all of our future children you’re annihilating, Richard.”
“I’m so extraordinary that my mere grin can make you infertile?”

And this:

“When I was seventeen you said you wanted to perform an autopsy on me, to crack open my ribcage and squeeze my heart until it burst between your fingers. What is that – if not flirting?”
“That was me hating you, Richard. I dreamed of your death.”
“You dreamed of clutching my heart.”

I just love the way their minds work! :D

Even with a stable, loving marriage, a beautiful daughter, and the best friends they could have, all is not well in Connor and Rose’s lives. They’re extremely influential icons in the Addicted world, thus being constantly monitored and exposed by the media takes a toll on them and their loved ones, so much it finally cracks the couple.

description

Yes, there is drama but not the kind that’s normally done that involves social media. What I love is that no matter what goes on, Rose and Connor tackle their problems together. There is no pushing away or second guessing or character stupidity, and because they are so close to Lily & Loren, Ryke & Daisy, those four are also a big part of the story and seeing them all collaborate and support each other warms my heart. The friendship and family dynamic among all of them is intricate and can’t be explained in just a few words, but just by reading their interactions the love and respect they have for each other feels tangible. In a way it’s almost enviable. From the group, Rose and Connor – especially Connor – have always been the foundation the others could lean on. Nothing and nobody could shake them, except this time, the media has hit a sore spot so invasive that they falter.

description

I think it’s because of how hard they’re hit that I felt so many emotions while I read, particularly in the last quarter of the book. It made me realize that even though Connor and Rose are fictional role models in their world, their ideals, morals, and beliefs are sentiments that carry over to the real world and are truths I draw my inspiration from.

“I’m attracted to people.
To the words they speak, to the actions they take, to their full-bodied mannerisms and soulful gaits. I am attracted to people. To impassioned hearts that beat out of sync, the ones that skip a measure, heard in hushed places and violent spaces – I am attracted to people.”

Somehow the Ritchie twins not only delivered a story that enraptured me and entertained me, but also a story that spoke volumes about the society we live in today that’s colored with harsh judgment and biased stances. Rose and Connor’s struggles mirror what many of us go through ourselves and that adds a layer of depth to the book, something that makes them even more relatable and easy to connect with.

It’s truly amazing that with this book marking the 8th installment in the entire Addicted series that the plot and characters still keep me engaged after all this time. I have to admit that not every single book in this series was a complete winner for me, but overall, it’s a NA series I won’t hesitate to recommend to other readers.

description

Oh and one more thing! I don’t hide the fact that I’m not a fan of Ryke ever since he f-bombed his way through the series, but what I’ve read about his character (and Daisy’s too) in this story really changed the way I think about both of them. I’m looking forward to reading their story in Long Way Down. :)

**SERIES READING ORDER**

Because this series is a long one and can seem pretty intimidating to those that haven’t read any of the books I decided to do a reading order breakdown. There are a ton of ways to read this series but I’m only going to outline the full series order along with how I read these books. The first and best way is to just read all the books in the order they were published:

#1 Addicted to You (Lily & Loren)
#1.5 Ricochet (Lily & Loren) – note: this is a full length novel
#2 Addicted for Now (Lily & Loren)
Spinoff #1 Kiss the Sky (Rose & Connor)
Spinoff #2 Hothouse Flower (Ryke & Daisy)
#2.5 Thrive (Lily & Loren) – note: this is a full length novel
#3 Addicted After All (final Lily & Loren book)
Spinoff #3 Fuel the Fire (final Rose & Connor book)
Spinoff #4 Long Way Down (final Ryke & Daisy book) – note: upcoming release

The way I read this series is a little different. I read #1, #1.5, #2, Kiss the Sky, and Hothouse Flower. I skipped Thrive and Addicted After All and went straight to Fuel the Fire. That is technically okay to do and I didn’t feel like I missed anything. You can choose to do that too but it is imperative to read Hothouse Flower if you decide to skip Thrive and AAA. Also keep in mind that there’ll be a time gap between the events of HF and FTF.

On a side note (and this is completely opinion-based): To me, Thrive is more of a bridge novel and less ‘new stuff.’ It fills in the gaps between Hothouse Flower and Addicted After All. The authors themselves have said that it is an optional read if you’ve read the first 2 spinoffs. If you haven’t, then Thrive must be read.

Addicted to You (Addicted, #1) by Krista Ritchie Ricochet (Addicted, #1.5) by Krista Ritchie Addicted for Now (Addicted, #2) by Krista Ritchie Kiss the Sky (Calloway Sisters, #1; Addicted, #2.1) by Krista Ritchie Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters, #2; Addicted, #2.2) by Krista Ritchie Thrive (Addicted, #2.5) by Krista Ritchie Addicted After All (Addicted, #3) by Krista Ritchie Fuel the Fire (Calloway Sisters, #3; Addicted, #3.1) by Krista Ritchie Long Way Down (Calloway Sisters, #4; Addicted, #3.2) by Krista Ritchie

” Broken souls are mended everyday by mended souls that were once broken”

It took me so long to finish this book. Not because it was bad but because i wanted to take my time reading it and because i’ve only two books left in the series and i’m not ready to say goodbye.

The first half of this book was really slow. Kinda of boring because literally nothing happened. But the second half omg 🥹 it was so emotional and heartbreaking.I love the core six so much that I feel like they’re part of me. My family 🫶🏻

“ I never realized how bored I had been with my life. How mundane my surrounding looked. How unchallenged I’d become. I never all of these things. Until I met her.”

rose 🥹🫂
Tbh I wasn’t a huge fan of rose when i read kiss the sky. Her glares and meannesses were really scary and constant that it was really hard to like her. But oh my she really did won me over in this book. Her character development and the way she’s ready to go to war to protect her daughter and sisters was really admirable and touching and because i’m the older sister too i found her very relatable sometimes.

conner 🫂❤️‍🩹
I was in pain 😭 because i was not used to conner being this vulnerable and broken. He’s always the confident and smart . So too see him so ashamed and very lost was very heartbreaking and overwhelming. He’s struggles and internal battles ahh it was really sad but His character development and the way he refused to bend to the world and let the world bend to him was really touching and beautiful. And his relationship with jane and moffy was heartwarming. 🥹💘

” everyday of my life, I am enamored. Everyday of my life, I am bewitched. And everyday of my life, I spend it with her “

conner & rose
I love them but they’re not my favorite couple. Lilo will always be my favorite. But conner and rose are very special to me even tho I don’t always understand their banter and they make me feel very stupid and poorly educated🫶🏻 their love is different and strong. And they taught me to be confident and to be myself and strong, and selfless. The taught me that it’s okay to depend on people and to feel and to care. That it’s okay to forgive. They’re the best 💞

” I’m tragically in love with you, and I wouldn’t want it any other way”

the core six 🔝💞
They’re part of me like i said before🫶🏻 everyone of them effected me in a different way and taught me something different. I’m for ever grateful for them 🫶🏻 all of them went through hell and had a traumatic past and parents. Watching them overcome everything together and try to be and stay the best they could ever be for their kids and the people who loves them 🥹 i’ve never been more proud 🫶🏻 they’re going to be the best parents for their kids and I can’t wait to see that happen 🤌🏻

“You’re always, and will always, be my equal.”

Lily Calloway once thought about Rose and Connor; “This weird relationship deserves to be observed. By me. I love it too much not to be a spectator.” and I couldn’t agree more!! Because I could freakin’ relate to that!!! Like same Lily same!!

I never realized how bored I had been with life. How mundane was my surrounding looked. How unchallenged I’d become.
I never realized all of these things.
Until I met her.

It’s always such a delight watching these two be The power couple. Their banter? Their games? The way they protect their family at whatever cost?? The way they love? The way they mess with each other’s mind? The way there could never be a Rose without Connor or a Connor without Rose? The way these two are so equal in every way?? The way she puts her hand on his mouth to hide his annoying but not so annoying smile?? The way we saw Connor being a little bit “mortal”?? Like ughh!! The way he bonded with Ryke? All the sisterly moments??

“Then what are they?” Her eyes flicker to Connor and me, catching us watching them.
Lo purposefully raises his voice so we can hear. “An immortal god who married an immortal demon.”

The ending got me feeling so emotional and I’m not sure I’m ready for the end of the series! Actually this whole book got me feeling so emotional. I don’t know why?? Maybe it’s because we saw Rose and Connor being just more. We saw their struggles and how they try to protect everyone. Also, we saw more of Connor, the man who didn’t allow us to see much of him. And every time we saw him slightly struggle or kinda break, it broke my heart a little bit because like Lo I tend to forget that he’s just as human as all of us. I just love the way he is. Ahh I don’t know, the whole book got me feeling just so freakin emotional!

She fuels the fire in my soul, the embers slowly dying, and she tries feverishly to awaken me.

If you loved Kiss the Sky for the banter, the relationship dynamics between Connor & Rose, the games, the group settings, the sexiness, and the French -- we can promise you'll see all of that and more.

Fuel the Fire goes in depth with Connor & Rose. You'll learn so much about them. This time around, there's no reality show and the stakes are more serious than they once were before.

Addicted Series Recommended Reading Order

Addicted to You
Ricochet
Addicted for Now
Kiss the Sky - (Connor & Rose)
Hothouse Flower
Thrive
Addicted After All
Fuel the Fire - (Connor & Rose)
Long Way Down

***NOTE: It is possible to only read the Calloway Sisters series without reading the Addicted series. But you MUST read Hothouse Flower (Calloway Sisters #2) before reading Fuel the Fire (Calloway Sisters #3). It's highly recommended to read the books in the order above, which is in tangent with the Addicted series. If you choose not to read Addicted After All before FTF, there will be a time jump.***

JUNE 2018

I will always have a soft spot for Ryke and Daisy. At one point of my life, they were instrumental in shaping how I had expressed myself. I’ve always believe in supporting art particularly the creators behind it. I watched this series grow, and they brought me so much joy but that spark of light had become tainted. My love for Ryke and Daisy waned. It’s not unadulterated admiration anymore.

I’ll plainly say that the main reason was because of how the creators and certain fans had treated me — simply because I brought up the discussion of diversity. I challenged the race and queer representation. I’m not here for authors that only want marginalized readers when it suit their diversity-cookie campaign. Fuck that fucking shit. It’s always sad to see something you once love change for the worse, but that’s life and it’s out of my hands.

Based from the racist history of publishing community, I’ve been doubtful at the intent of white authors “writing inclusively” particularly when they were being put in a stand. They become defensive. It’s not that difficult to say, “you’ll do better next time with caution and research.” It’s not that difficult to apologize. But as I’ve always noticed with white authors their pride comes first. As a long time fan of Krista and Becca, I was heartbroken to see that they care more about their whiteness rather than assessing about the things they can improve from their series. I’m not interested in educating white people nor am I here to coddle anyone.

Lastly, I’m a firm believer that authors are a reflection on how they interact with other people. If you can’t handle any constructive criticism on how you should write diversity without crying you’re being bullied (especially if youre a white author,) then don’t write. This is why, I don’t plan on recommending this series anymore regardless of my nostalgic love for certain characters.
OLD REVIEW

Reading Fuel the Fire is like coming home after a very long emotional taxing day. And you simply know it is there, silently hovering in the background, sitting in your bed, waiting to be read and to make your life, a little less miserable. I guess, I would always associate this series as home, my safety place.

Here comes my usual “I am at a loss for words. I cannot articulate my feelings, but I will try my best.” monologue.

Fuel the Fire is exactly what I expected from Krista & Becca. It is filled with love, friendship and so much more.

Rose and Connor’s story continue as they faces new challenged, life hurls at them. There are plenty of complications, the constant glare and focus of the media. And unlike before, now they have a daughter. There are a lot of things to consider.

It is so refreshing to be back in their heads. And I must say, the construction and writing of this installment are more lyrical than others. Just how I love my books.

“Jealousy should slither down my spine like a snake making route to my heart. Or rage. I am fire where my husband is water.”

Generally, what drew me in this series is the tight camaraderie between the girls and boys and the whole gang to be exact. Romantic love is not only the epicenter of the story, so is the family, hilarious banter and all these little things.

In most series, if the cast is too large, there is not enough space for the secondary characters to grow. They are often left to regress or be a prop, or if the cast is too small, the characterization is not as authentic. Very few books could deliver a large group of characters with a well-developed portrayal. Addicted series is one of these rare gems. The amazing tidbit about this books are even if a specific story centers on a specific couple, a reader could still expect a satisfying sub plot for its supporting characters. Nobody is left out.

I love this passage a lot for so many reasons and this is just one of the few.

“To me, these terms are just another parameter—and I’ve never enjoyed stepping into this box, to pretend to be someone else when what I feel is so simple, so rudimentary. I admire other people who can identify with these words, but it’s not what I feel. I’m attracted to people, to the all-encompassing passion of the soul, of the body and the mind. And I shouldn’t have to be labeled to make sense.

My sexuality shouldn’t be of priority to anyone but me. If I’d only slept with women, no one would care, but they’ve learned differently, and now they’re bothered, incensed—confused, doubtful. So to appease them, I have to step into that cramped box. To make sense to them, I have to declare something I don’t feel.”

This is for everyone who’s not comfortable at being put into a box. Your sexuality is for you to be decide. You are the one who gets to set a parameter for yourself. And no, this does not make you weird. That makes you, yourself.

Out of hundreds of books that I had read, so far only Black Iris by Leah Raeder and Fuel the Fire captured my stance on this. What a beautiful message to convey. I am certain this would help countless of readers who are afraid and confused.

On a side note, I love how Krista and Becca are handling Daisy’s depression. In fear of spoilers, I would not spit it out. But this is the first one that I’ve seen in NA and I cannot even remember seeing that in YA either so hooray! Diversity! This makes me cry. Seriously.

Conclusion: This is a satisfying wrap up for Connor and Rose’s story, though there are more loose ends left to be solved in the last book. This is a magnificent series about love, friendship, diverse exploration of sexuality and mental illness. *sobs. If you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for.

FUEL THE FIRE is another EXCELLENT installment in the Calloway Sisters/Addicted series. Connor & Rose have been my favorite couple from the beginning. Originally the series was suppose to end after AAA so when The Twins (authors) decided to add two more books I was thrilled. I could barely wait for this book to be released...it was a year ago that I marked it on my TBR shelf. Unfortunately, when it was released I had other book obligations and missed the buddy read with all the ‘KBR Fangirls’ -> http://bit.ly/1IOudqN.

I was impressed on how well the subject matters that plagued the gang were handled. The majority of the issues that afflicted this book were ones that threatened Connor and his family. The measures Connor took to protect his love ones was fascinating to watch.

One area of Connor’s personal life I know had some fans concerned. I’ll state that no personal details were given in this matter. . . just the mention that he partook in these activities and why he did. I know that is a vague answer to what I’m referring to but I wanted to reassure those who were leery of this part of Connor’s life. I'm giving the green light to proceed for those who were not keen on reading any in-depth details about this aspect of his life. :)

Connor as a husband and father was spectacular. His unwavering love really showed the growth of his character from when we first met him in Addicted to You where he was “incapable” of loving anyone but himself.

description

Rose with her sisters made me wish I had sisters. The one thing Rose promised Daisy she would do when the time comes had me choked up. See, my youngest daughter went to my eldest daughter and told her the same thing Rose told Daisy. My oldest is in a similar situation as Daisy and someday may need to rely on her sister. When I overheard my teen girls conversation my heart swelled and I cried. I know my girls may feel differently when they're adults and the time comes to cash in this favor but for now it makes me smile knowing one is willing to sacrifice for the other’s happiness.

While this is the end of the road for Connor & Rose’s pov… I’m glad that there's one more book that will feature all these characters. I'm so thankful for The Twins and their ability to put pen to paper and bring to life these six characters. The Addicted gang has consumed my thoughts over the last year and has allowed me to fangirl with other KBR fans.

“Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.” - The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde

While I was gathering my thoughts about Fuel the Fire, I drew the conclusion that I needed to find a way to prevent me from rambling and adding a millions quotes. Yes, that happens with this kind of books. Favorites. You know, Connor said something that I found beautiful : that he was attracted by people's thoughts, by people's fire without never restraining himself in gender boxes, under a label. As I was reading the last page, smiling, I realized that what he said about people is also true when dealing with books.

A great book must make me think, feel, change my world during a few hours, and sometimes, it lingers. Considering how full of tropes the NA genre is, I repeatedly stated how rarely I found enjoyment reading it. It remains true. However, I don't want to say that Fuel the Fire is a great New-Adult book.

No. It's an incredible book. Period.

But before I start fangirling, as promised, here's my bingo.

Now you can take everything in this bingo and multiply my emotions by 1000. I loved this book from start to finish, including its flaws (some repetitions of sayings, a tendency to drag at some point, several mistakes that should have been edited). So many passages made my heart beat in anticipation that I can't hold a grudge. Except... except when revenge is involved, apparently : I let escape an evil little laugh that my boyfriend found *almost* scary (you'll know when).

My heart is full. I am so proud of Connor and Rose that it's getting ridiculous, but I don't even care. They're my perfect match.

Ps. After Hothouse Flower I didn't think that I would read Ryke and Daisy's next book, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed the dynamics between Ryke and the other characters here (especially Connor), so I might change my mind. Okay, I changed my mind.

Book 1 (Connor and Rose's story) : Kiss the Sky ★★★★☆
Book 2 (Ryke and Daisy's story) : Hothouse Flower ★★★☆☆

AUDIO RE-READ < --- Because it's the BEST form of re-reading

6 (Best Book Ever) Stars

I love the addicted series. I love every.single.character. Rose and Connor are my favorites. I love the love that they have for each other. I loved Kiss the Sky and when I realized the authors wrote another book, well … you can see how happy that made me.

Fuel the Fire is everything you want for Rose and Connor. There was heart-ache, redemption, drama, pain and of course…. LOVE. After I finished reading Fuel the Fire, I was shaking with emotions. I cried, laugh and smiled.

Fuel the Fire picks up right after Addicted After All. You do not need to read the Addicted series, but I highly suggest you do. There is going to be a time gap if you don’t. Connor, Rose, Lily, Lo, Daisy and Ryke all live in the house together. The media is kicked up a notch and it seems that the gang is in the lime-light more than they want to be.

There’s a lot of drama that happens in the book. Connor and Rose approach the subject of having more children. Connor wants eight babies (he has stated this in previous books), but Rose is cautious. She doesn’t know if she wants to put her children in the public eye. Because what ever they do will be captured on camera.

Throughout the book we get a deeper look into who Connor and Rose are as individuals and as husband and wife. The thing that I ENJOYED so much is reading Connor. I’ve always been intrigued with him. I find his personality addictive and the perfect book boyfriend. I loved reading about his past and how much Connor is willing to do to protect his family. He’s changed and grown so much since the previous books and it’s so nice to see him so exposed.

Connor Cobalt is as classy as he is conceited. Both attract me. Both annoy me. I’m a paradox. And maybe that’s why he loves me.

We dated. We married. We had a baby. Together, we’re a face of nature to be reckoned with. That’s not my hubris speaking. It’s just the truth.

I love Rose. She’s known as the cold sister, but seeing her interact with Jane is just so refreshing. We see a warmer side to Rose and I loved reading her inner monologue. I loved reading her struggles and the sacrifices she makes for her family and especially for Jane. Just like Connor, we will see Rose, opened, exposed, and raw. It’s really heart-wrenching to read, but beautiful at the same time.

I seriously cried many times in this book. It will hit you in the gut. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Love. It meant nothing to him. Now it’s guiding his choices.

I need you to keep looking at me like you’re going to burn a hole through my heart, and I need you to tell me that you love the real me. Every day, I need you Rose.

I’ve referenced this many times, but I’ll say it again. What I enjoy most about these books is the love the two main characters have each other. It’s not an “against each other love” but “against the world” kind of love. It’s Connor and Rose verse the world and that is the stuff I crave for in books. That is the stuff that makes my heart go swoon, my eyes light up and gives my arms goose bumps.

That is pure-perfection.

I purposefully spent two hours with a girl who wore passion like a dress made of diamonds and hair made of flames. Every day of my life, I am enamored. Every day of my life, I am bewitched. And every day of my life, I spend it with her.

So long as I may be living, I live with you

I’m always whomever or what ever people need me to be… but you were the only one who needed me to be me

The story is beautifully written, I was seriously highlighting half the book. I really don’t know how Krista and Becca do it. They are like romantic geniuses.

If you love this series, if you love Connor and Rose or if you just like to read in general, you need to read Fuel the Fire.

Audio Questions

Would you listen to Fuel the Fire again? Why?

I would listen to Fuel the Fire again, in fact when I finished listening to it, I wanted to start it all over. I can't tell you how much I love this series, the spin-off series and this book. It guts you, makes you question life and appreciate what you have.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is my book husband, Connor. I LOVE LOVE LOVE him. I love him so much my real life husband knows how much I love Connor. Connor is the EPIC Hero I crave and lust after when I listen/read a book. He's caring, strong, arrogant, smart and most of all, he LOVES his family and wife. Gah, who doesn't want that?

Not only do I love Connor, but I love Rose too. It always makes the book better if I love the Hero and Heroine equally. I feel like I can relate to Rose on so many levels. I love how she can be cold, but warm at the same time. I love seeing the different sides of her in Fuel the Fire and yes I cried during the dark parts. I couldn't get enough.

Which scene was your favorite?

So many scenes are my favorite scenes. I love the scenes between Rose and Connor. The ones that are deep, important and reflects the love they have for each other. I love that Connor and Rose are willing to sacrifice everything for each other.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

If you have already read the book, then all I'm going to say is Rose + Fur Coat = ME BALLING MY EYES OUT. If you haven't read the book, I'm not giving anything away. I PROMISE! So don't get mad at me. There are other scenes that moved me too. The ones where it showed Connor really exposed and raw. Those gutted me. Even the beginning starts out with a bang with some down and down action (you will get it once you start it)

5 Coballoway Stars!

“I'm tragically in love with you, and I wouldn't want it any other way.”

(I buddy read this book with sis Bea . :). Click her name to read her awesome review.)

That heady feeling you get after finishing a book that you absolutely loved.

description

I enjoyed Fuel the Fire so much more than I thought I would. Rose Calloway-Cobalt and Connor Cobalt will always be one of the couples that would never fail to amuse me and make my heart skip a beat. The nerdy battles, the sexual innuendos, the steamy romance... This couple can do no wrong!

I thought we had the happy ending for Rose and Connor in Kiss the Sky but we didn't know their story was just starting. In this book, their supposed to be happy marriage is ruined by the mad paparazzi and columnists who threaten to make their lives miserable-- as well as Jane's. Past issues and scandals also keep coming back when Scott Van Wright reappears in the scene.

"She fuels the fire in my soul, the embers slowly dying, and she tries feverishly to awaken me.”

Their commitment to each other was tested in this book big time and I was awed by how devoted they were to each other. Connor was so tough as a brick wall despite the chaos around them, and Rose stayed calm and in-control of her emotions. I had a lot of favorite scenes in this book. So many hilarious moments too in addition to the family drama. And the ending truly made me feel satisfied. This could be one of my favorite sequels in this series. The depth of the characters continues to grow and the romance continues to burn. Coballoway all the way!

“There are rare people who will fuel the fire inside of you, who will awaken a dormant passion, who will challenge you, who will push you and better you. She alone is my rarity.”

You can now listen to my fanmix for Fuel the Fire on 8tracks [listen]. See the tracklist here .

*does not contain any spoilers, but discusses the importance of the novel and a few characteristic aspects*

Fuel the Fire is a brilliant, important book and not only for the fact that Connor and Rose’s characters are explored in more depth or that it’s darker, a thousand times more emotional than Kiss the Sky (which was already really emotional for me regardless of its humorous tone). It’s for the fact that this book is so much more important than just these two characters that I have come to love and adore more than anything in any literary work to date.

“Tu m’entendras toujours, où que je sois.”

Beneath all the jokes, banter and comical situations, Fuel the Fire is, in its core, an issue book circling around the topic of who you are in the world and in the eyes of the society; fitting into these absurd norms of the society in terms of sexuality, appearance, personality, intelligence and so much more; putting labels onto things that cannot and shouldn’t always be labeled. It also deals with depression in the most sincere ways that make you want to scream at the world, kick your fists at doors of sadness in order to see them crumble and finally see a character get through a day without feeling anything less than happy and free of this dark hole eating their insides day by day. All of the books in this series also cover feminism, sexism and misogyny and, Fuel the Fire, as its predecessors, is just as moving and inspirational as you’d hope and expect for it to be.

I’m not going to speak about the plot, because that is something everyone should experience themselves, but I want to applaud the twins for giving Rose and Connor more depth and layers than they already had. I’m not going to speak about the plot, because that is something everyone should experience themselves, but I want to applaud the twins for giving Rose and Connor more depth and layers than they already had. I thought I knew them very well, and I most definitely held them dear to the deepest parts of my soul, but it was nothing compared to how I feel about them now. They're absolutely remarkable! Thinking about this guy who thought he couldn't care about any other person but himself, but has been proven wrong time and time again, and a girl who's rough around the edges and often has a cold, tough exterior which hides one of the biggest, kindest hearts—that's something I can't ever stop getting emotional about. I'm so incredibly proud of how far they've come.

This book was effortlessly exquisite, as are the two narrators in their very nature, and the enjoyment of it all didn’t necessarily depend on the plot, which was equally entertaining and captivating, but how all of its six main characters dealt with the hardships thrown in their way and their continuous support and admiration towards one another during difficult times.

A few more notes:
*Fuel the Fire is hot, hot, hottttt and most of these hot scenes are packed with an emotional punch right in the feels
*The shipping game is on point as always
*It also held a lot of fun, cute scenes as always and the group scenes are bound to make you smile time and time again
*ALL the bromances gain even more depth (which I thought was impossible)
*The relationship between the Calloway sisters is one of the most amazing sibling relationships I have ever read about; these sisters are the true meaning of family and how empowering it is to know that you have someone in your corner always fighting for you and your dreams, cheering you on regardless of the circumstances and odds against you—without a doubt, the sisterhood in these books is my favorite thing above all!

Writing reviews is always hard on its own for me, but writing a review for a sequel to a book you thought was going to be your absolute favorite for the rest of your life? I tried my hardest, but I know that I only covered about 3% of the beauty and importance of this story. I’m at a loss of words and the empty tissue boxes all around remind me of the emotions I felt while reading this gorgeous, witty and extraordinary novel filled with passion, strength and inspiring words. Thank you, Krista and Becca, for an unforgettable journey!

Overall rating: 5.0 out of 5.0

I really enjoyed this book, but I especially loved the parts with all the sisters and boys together. Especially Ryker and Daisy. They are the best and I can't wait for their book. I liked Rose and Connor, but they're a bit on the complicated side. I myself am a real big Raisy fan, but this one still hit all the spots !!! It was emotional, hot and angsty. Just how I like my favorite books ;)

It feels like this is an ode to Rose and Connor.

They make my heart go all crazy with excitement whenever I think about them. But to adequately describe their dynamic and allure is not an easy feat. Because they are not a typical romance couple. They are MORE!!! Better. Different.

A true POWER COUPLE like Eve and Roarke, Kate and Curran, and Sam and Mason. They would kill for each other, and only really care about a couple people in their lives, besides one another. Both are aloof, and wickedly smart.

Connor might even be one of the smartest and most highly intelligent heroes I ever read about. And his lack of empathy towards anything that isn't Rose is HOT!! Call me strange, but a hero who cares for no one but his girl is incredibly attractive to me!!

And don't get me started on their banter. The most fascinating and intellectual banter EVER!!! They have foreplay just by staring at each other. And when their minds battle it gets sizzling HOT!!

Rose and Connor's relationship is far from normal.

Both are thrust into leadership positions in one way or the other, while others depend on them to make things go away, fix what needs to be fixing, and just keep their boat afloat and family safe. They aren't into PDA, neither is a very showy or emotional person. Cold is a word that could be used for both, but only because people don't know better. Because unbeknownst to others, this power couple is so secure in their love for each other, that PDA is not necessary to underscore how deeply they love.

The way they support one another unconditionally is breathtaking. Both Rose and Connor know the other in a way nobody else can even fathom or understand. Both are such restrained personalities to the outside world, that not even siblings and best friends know exactly how to take them - except for each other.

This idea, that there is only ONE person that knows all the in and outs, dreams, flaws, worries, and doubts in such an intimate way, is what made me fall in love with Rose and Connor in the first place. And now, years later my love has only deepened.

I'm a sucker for all things unique, quirky and different. But the one thing that is hardest of all is to create a truly unique character. A personality that is SO DIFFERENT that there is just no equal.

I could go on, and write an entire dissertation (haha it feels like I just did so) about Rose and Connor. About why I love them, list all my favorite scenes, arguments, and snarky comments that could fill pages. But all you really need to know is that if you love anything different and unique - you must give this couple a chance. You can either start with the Addicted series. Or start like me with Kiss the Sky.

I should also mention that this series is like non you ever read before. It's EPIC, family oriented, HUGE and all consuming. Book hangover is guaranteed!!!

4.5 Connor all the Way Stars!

It seriously took me FOREVER to read this book and not because I was savoring it, but because life interrupted my Coballoway Time!

Keeping it simple and keeping it short. I really liked this book! I have been a Connor Cobalt fan from day one, and while I really never connected with Rose...I love that Fuel the Fire took me deep into their relationship! Finally I "get" why Connor LOVES Rose. Finally I "get" her intimacy. Finally I "see" the woman behind the heels! This book made me see the emotion of a man behind the intelligence and the heart of a woman behind the stoicism.

 photo f16cba0f-1ec8-4fed-841b-1c16faccb82f_zpstulwsn9l.png

Rose Calloway/Cobalt is not a cold fish. She is a real woman with feelings and she is an amazing mother and sister. She is mostly an amazing wife. Whether paparazzi threaten her family or past secrets come out to shatter the foundation she and Connor have established...Coballoway will WIN because they have their own weapons. They have each other. They have intelligence. They have inner strength, and most importantly they have a real soul mate. ..Nothing can stop them...they are ENSEMBLE!

This is a fabulous progression from the series. I recommend it to all Addicted fans out there! This is 1000 steps forward for the gang. There is maturity. There is true friendship. There is an unbreakable bond of family whether blood or not! Thank you Ritchie Sister for so much more!

When I started this series, I knew it would be a commitment and take some time to get through all 8 books. I knew each book was quite long, and the topics discussed were very different than what I have read in the past. What I didn’t know was how insanely IN LOVE I would fall with these characters and their stories and with these authors.

description

I also wasn’t sure if reading 8 books in a row revolving around the same people would get tiresome or redundant. But I say this with such certainty— Krista & Becca kept setting the bar higher and higher with each book, with the next one even better than the last. There is no way I can pick a favorite character or a favorite book in this series, they each were just that good.

description

I cannot stress enough how unique and amazing their writing is, and how they made me feel these fictional characters were real life people who have buried themselves in my heart and who I would die to be friends with. With their writing, you feel all of the characters’ pain, the joy, the love; their highest of highs and their lowest of lows.

description

So I leave with this…give this series a chance. I know it’s long. I know there’s a lot of books. But you will not regret one minute of it. I found myself completely immersed in the world they've built and wishing that I could spend an eternity with these characters. Just absolute perfection & I simply cannot recommend this series enough!

"There are rare people who will fuel the fire inside you, who will awaken a dormant passion, who will challenge you, who will push you, and better you. She alone is a my rarity.

This book, OMG, the feels. Like all the Addicted Series I love it beyond measure and wish I could give it million stars. When I was reading I was looking back on when I first met Connor and Rose, I was not a fan. I was an enabler to Lilo and just saw them as the barrier they didn't need. Now I can see RCC saved Lily and Lo and without them this series wouldn't be the same.

Their love for each other and the way they are obviously soulmates is a rarity to feel when reading. But what I truly love is the value they added to everyone's life, they have been guiding and protecting everyone since the beginning. This book showed just how big their hearts are and how much they love their little family.

I am so sad to say goodbye to RCC, but my favorite part about the Ritchie's is that we will at least see their story continue in Long Way Down.
