Internet security billionaire, Liam Manning, made a death bed promise to his beloved brother, Marcus, to complete his mystery-romance manuscript. Problem is that Liam’s experience with women is limited to the cold-hearted supermodels he usually dates—nothing like the warm, caring woman depicted in the novel his brother began. So falling back on his hacking skills, he infil ...more

Well...I finally read it! After reading Miss Guided last week I have been itching to get my hands on Played by the Billionaire. I was a bit nervous. I was worried that I would be disappointed. I mean Miss Guided rocked so very hard that I just knew that there was no way Alexia Adams could pull it off way could she leave me breathless and begging for more...

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Boy was I amazingly wrong!

Some how... some way...Alexia Adams made me tear up, laugh, scream and beg for mor

It doesn’t matter if you run a multi-billion dollar corporation when your brother on his death bed asks you to finish his book you do it. Regardless of what is required of you to accomplish his last request, so you don’t know anything about romance, you just do the research. It can’t be that hard, after all you are the CEO and Chairman of IWC Security and the king of internet security.

Some promises are made to be broken.

This is my first read by Ms. Adams and I have I loved her writing style. I love when I’m so in tune with the characters that their emotions are felt while reading. When I read a synopsis about a billionaire are a scheme that they come up with because they need to fulfill a promise or maybe make their parents see that they were able to find a good girl that would marry them it’s a must read. This storyline was unique and the situation that Liam was in was sad b

I thought this book had a mixture of interesting yet not over the top plot and a heartwarming romance between two lonely souls. I enjoyed reading it.

Geeky, handsome and single by choice, Liam feels obliged to do as his brother asked and finish the book he was writing. This is completely out of Liam's comfort zone, especially regarding the subject of romance. He takes his brother's advice that he can only write about what he's experienced and find

Well-done interfering family members are the greatest, even if they don't get much (or any) actual screen time. That was certainly the case in Played, and what makes it even better is that there was interference from both families, not just the hero or the heroine's.

Liam - hehehe. He knows nothing about romance/love and knows he knows nothing. Determined to finish his now-dead brother's unfinished romance novel (a death-bed promise), he falls back on the skills he does have. I found it amusing t

For $.99 cents and just wanting something light and fluffy this book fit the bill: pure escapism - beautiful heroine on the rebound, handsome rich totally naive billionaire and friends, family and acquaintances pushing from both sides to have these two find love.

Although in the real world one would totally be scandalized that Liam/William would hack a dating site, cancel the prearranged date between two subscribers I was able to forgive this crime as it afforded the hero a chance to meet Lorelei

Liam had made a death-bed promise to his brother, Marcus, to finish writing his book. Liam, our computer-genius hero (but also hot too, imagine it!), was no stranger to writing. The problem was all his writings before were kinda in robotic language if you know what I mean. Write about a L-word romance? He's so screwed.

The solution, of course, wasn't so far from his speciality. To feel a romance? He had to hack some dating sites and f

Can a relationship built on lies really survive? That is the question that I asked myself when I started reading this. Billionaire computer genius Liam MacKenzie has to fulfill his dead brother's last wish- to finish writing his romance mystery book. The problem is, Liam has never had a relationship built on love, since he has never been loved by anyone except for his now dead brother. Liam's had girlfriends, but they were more the arm-candy type, who only wanted what his billions could buy them ...more

Review from:

Played by the Billionaire was definitely an "OK" book. It centers on Liam Manning, a billionaire who's into computer softwares and basically a genius at that, who promised to finish the novel of his late brother. In order for him to do this, he needs to live the life of a regular guy and find romance which are part of the elements of the story. He chooses the perfect woman for the job, Lorelei Torres, the most regular woman he could find.

I got this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Liam is a Billionaire who is more comfortable cracking internet codes and sites then having real relationships with people. His brothers dying request was for Liam to complete his novel for him. In order to do this Liam needs to find a real girlfriend and experience the romantic feelings of the character he is writing about.

This review took me a little while to figure out what to say. I really loved both characters, just not together at first. Liam is looking for a relationship for the very wrong reasons - basically just to see what it was like. Liam has trust and family issues and I can understand his reluctance to enter into a serious relationship, but I wish we had seen a little more of how deep his issues went a little earlier - it would have helped me like him better early on in the story.

I thought the billionaire sub genre had played (sorry) itself out but Alexia Adams has found a new facet to it that made for a fast, fun read. If the career of the hero (billionaire tech genius) isn't new, her creation of a man who has to learn about romance so he can finish his dead brother's romance novel is.

That's what Liam (William) Mackenzie Manning promised to do. And he intends to fulfill his promise to the brother who protected and loved him all his life. How he goes about by using his c

This was a good read, it’s pretty light and the story flows very well. I liked the premise and the delivery was very good. There was good chemistry between Liam and Lorelei, you have to wait quite a while for the consummation but that’s ok with me, it builds the tension. It did feel like there were a few loose ends. I would have liked to see a confrontation between Liam and his dad, I would have liked to see Liam get to meet Lorelei’s mom, and what was up with Helen….I couldn’t figure if she had ...more

A death bed promise to his brother prompts Liam to take a leave of absence from his thriving IT business, change his appearance and internet stalk a woman to manipulate her into being his girlfriend (pretend for him) so that he can write the romantic portions of his brothers unfinished manuscript (deathbed promise). She falls…he does too but he’s too logical to see it. The lengths he goes to to secure Lorelei as his subject was a little e

Oh it's rarely good when family members stick their nose in your business. This was one of those rare times, and how rare is it that members of both families interfered and it still ends up well.

Liam, the billionaire charity event planner, has no knowledge in the realm of love and being romantic but agreed to finish his brothers romance novel. He did some very odd stalker creepy things in his pursuit but the story doesn't make it seem that he himself is odd or creepy. Even though his lie to Lore

Packed with sexual tension...

A solid fun read that put me right in the shoes of the characters. Liam is hot, and it was wonderful to watch him squirm as one little lie (innocent enough) spiralled into a more and more complex web of mistruths as his attraction for Loralei deepens. Loralei is open, and one of the most refreshingly honest heroines I have read. She epitomises truth, there isn't a twisted bone in her body, which is a brilliant foil for Liam's scheme.

Played by the Billionaire by Alexia Adams: Lorelei Torres grew up in a loving atmosphere, despite the fact that her father is serving a 25 year sentence for robbing a bank and killing a guard. Her mom is her everything, working two or more jobs at a time to keep Lorelei healthy and happy in Buffalo, New York. After being an innocent bystander in a workplace scandal, Lorelei requests a lateral transfer to the San Francisco area for a new position.

I received an ARC from Netgalley. I'm not sure what it was about this book, but I found it sort of cute in an odd way. I think the billionaire IT guy finishing a book for his brother and then making a disaster of matters of the heart is a nice premise. The plot was developed well and unique. Both characters had daddy issues and some of the parental issues that popped up were a bit unbelievable and out of place. Overall it didn't detract from the book that much.

"[...]PLAYED BY THE BILLIONAIRE sucked me in and didn’t spit me out until the characters received their well-deserved happily-ever-afters. It was completely predictable at times, but who cares? I enjoyed myself immensely and sometimes a girl needs a fluffy, feel good novel that will tide her over until the next emotional, deeply moving book journeys along and gives her a book high.[...]"

What do you do when the person that means the most to you in the world passes away? For Liam MacKenzie he fulfills the dying wish left to him by his brother....finish his book.

Lorelei hasn't had much luck when it comes to dating. She's really been burned by liars. Now she's been selected as the woman Liam will date to help create romance for his brothers book.

What they both don't realize is the ride they are in for. Lorelei can't help but fall for him even when she knows she shouldnt and Liam
