I'm very excited for this series. The first story is absolutely adorable!

Olivia is a Southern girl who is trying to get her break in Hollywood. When she lands the role as co-host of a popular home improvement show, she is torn between two guys--the one who is best for her career, not to mention drop-dead handsome (William) and the blue collared gorgeous guy who does the real work (Pete).

I loved the way that Olivia met Pete--soooo funny! Of course, William really knew how to play the romance ga

If you like the TV show 'Love it, or List it" then you'll enjoy this book. It's like a behind the scenes of what goes on behind a reality TV show. I liked it.

Olivia has finally gotten her big break by landing the lead role on a home improvement show. She has reached career success and has finally achieved what she always wanted, fame. But, now that she has it it's not all she thought it would be and she finds herself reevaluating what she really wants out of life. Olivia has a couple different

What a truly touching and inspirational story of figuring out what matters the most in this life! I was easily swept away into this quietly unassuming yet profoundly enlightening journey of two very different people who just happen to be looking for the same thing. This is a story that will have you laughing, crying, and begging for more. I loved every minute of it!

Olivia is a very bright and talented woman who is desperate to become part of the high profile world of glamor and glitz. She has sp

If you’ve been following my reviews you’ll know that I’m not a fan of romance novels. But, I have to admit that I find the covers of this box set of romance novellas in the Ripple Effect Romance series simply irresistible, so of course I had to see what they have on the inside. Well, so far so good. Home Matters is, in my opinion, a great start to this series!

As with any self-respecting romance novella, Home Matters is unbelievably predictable, but it is written in such a delightfully quirky and

When I read a book, I don't need to necessarily like the main female character to enjoy the story, but it's really difficult to get past a main female character that I adamantly dislike. Unfortunately, Olivia is so selfish and superficial, the rest of the story was ruined for me. She changed mildly, but it seemed the actions of others, like a certain character's deceitfulness, made her change instead of her recognizing her shallowness on her own. Even when everything is falling down around her, ...more

Olivia has her work cut out for her!

She wants to be famous!

She lands a job with a popular TV show...

She also has a chance with heartthrob William...

Then there is arrogant Pete...

She can't stop thinking about him and his suggestion that she really reach for her full potential.

Somehow her job isn't all it seems to be.

this book was so fun I read it in a couple of days! Julie Ford always brings such an amazing amount of life to her characters you just can't help but get sucked in and want more! As someone who has also asked the question "why is everyone so obsessed with entertaining on these HGTV shows? " it was so fun to watch the characters behind the scenes living in the HGTV life. I'm absolutely in love with Pete and wish there were books coming after this one! Huge Julie Ford fan and looks like will conti ...more

I'm a huge fan of Julie's writing, and this book ranks right up there with Countdown to Love for me. It's fun, sassy, romantic, and wonderful. The perfect curl-up-with-a-handful-of-chocolate-covered-almonds type read for me. ...more
3.5 stars. Cute, clean, read. I am actually glad this book wasn't longer, I thought it was the perfect size. I am glad Olivia grew in this book. I didn't really like her too much in the beginning. But she learned good lessons and it had a happy ending. ...more

Eh, not great. Novellas I think are harder than novels to write. This is an example of the drawbacks of that. There was little character development, the flow of the story was far too abbreviated leaving no time to get into the story well enough or like the characters enough. The pacing did not work and there seemed like there was a LOT left out, as though it started out as a longer piece and then scenes were randomly cut -- and we needed the reference of those moments for other moments. It thro ...more

Olivia Pembroke fought with an inner struggle. On one hand, her mom wanted her to become famous. On the other hand, Olivia had a secret desire and talent for art and design. The problem was, her mother's dreams had somehow morphed into her dreams and she had no idea what she really wanted anymore. She played the part of the TV star diva with attitude and prestige and found it thrilling in its own way but, at the same time, she reveled in pulling out her sketch pad and bringing to life her idea o ...more

Home Matters, by Julie N. Ford is one of five romance novellas in 'The Ripple Effect' series. Home Matters was a short, fun read! I am always watching all the shows on HGTV, so I knew I was going to enjoy this book.

Olivia Pembroke is a Southern woman trying to make it with her acting in a big city. She gets her big break when she is called for an interview to be the co-host on a home maker show, Home Matters. While waiting in the waiting room her nerves get the best of her, and she goes to the

I'm so excited to be a part of the blog tour for this amazing set of books in the Ripple Effect Romance. Each is written by a different author and this week we are kicking things off with Julie Ford's "Home Matters".

This was a great start to this series. Have you ever watched HGTV? Have you ever seen "Love It or List It"? I could watch that show for hours, I think. This book reminded me of that show.

One of the best things about this book is how alive and real the characters seemed to me. I cou

This is a fun lighthearted clean romance. One that you can sit in a day and read with a smile on your face. Olivia is a aspiring actress who needs a break. A break that a stranger gives her when she sends her to a audition for Home Matters. Here she meets Pete, Pete who frustrates her to no end but also challenges her and makes her question who she is and what she wants. Is she an actress for herself or to satisfy her mom's dreams? There are six novellas by six different authors in the Ripple Effect Romance series. Home Matters is the first book and the series is off to a great start!

Olivia is broke and really needs a break to keep her acting dream alive. She auditions for the popular home improvement show, Home Matters, and it doesn't go as smoothly as she had hoped. She gets the job, though, and is torn between her handsome co-host, William, and Pete, the lead contractor. Pete's part in her audition didn't get them off t

Julie N. Ford is one of those authors who seems to have the writing formula down to a science. I can say this because this is the third book of hers that I have read and reviewed. Each time, I have given her a resounding 5-star rating, and she is completely deserving of the honor. No, she is not the next literary genius, and I doubt Hollywood will be contacting her with a massive contract deal. But that is not the beauty and charm of her books. She is an author who sees past that and writes clea ...more

I absolutely loved Home Matters. It's the story of Olivia Pembroke, a twenty-seven year old woman from a small, southern town who is living in California, trying to get her big break in Hollywood. She's desperate for money, desperate to get noticed before she hits the big 3-0, but mostly desperate not to let her mom (and dad and pretty much her whole hometown) down by failing.

Her break comes in the form of a reality television show--Home Matters. She'll star alongside heartthrob, William Blaine

Olivia has a dream of becoming a famous actress. After years of working minimum-wage jobs and second rate commercials she has finally had her big break. It seems almost too good to be true that she has landed the part of co-host for a reality TV show "Home Matters" alongside TV heart throb William Blaine.

Her life suddenly changes to a whirlwind of activity working on the show and developing a relationship with William. Olivia finds herself a bit disillusioned as she realizes her role on the new

Did I enjoy this book: I did. It was sweet, cute, and quick. I think it was less than 110 pages on my Nook. I read it in a few hours.

I liked Olivia. I thought she was sweet. My favorite scenes were those where she was either drawing or with Pete. Pete was great. Such a good guy with a good heart. I caught on to what he was doing, and I was impressed. Good for him.

My only complaint is that I thought it was too short. Yes, I know this is a novella that is part of a series. And I can’t wai

I'll be honest...I didn't love this book. I was super excited for the Ripple Effect series, but this book just...well...fell flat for me. It had a super cute premise and a lot of potential, but just like the main character Olivia, I felt like the book was shallow. There wasn't really any depth. Now don't get me wrong, the point of the story is that Olivia is shallow so she fits the character well (and to be fair, I liked her and she grew a lot in the story), and it was well written. Review: I loved the organic way that this romance spilled out, and not without it's obstacles that seemed so natural to what was going. Even in the short space given her, Olivia's character arc really blossomed. Having cheated and gotten a sneak peak at SILVER LININGS by Kaylee Baldwin, I'm getting very excited to see how all these novellas intertwine. Pete is a wonderful hero and, I hate to say this, I liked gettin

This was a cute premise. The main character lands a job on a home renovation show a lot like "Love It or List". The book really focuses on your transformation as she realizes that she may be pursuing the wrong things.

This is a nice clean read. I would have liked more interaction between Olivia and her love interest. The basis of their relationship seemed forced at the end, and not entirely true to each other since there were so few interactions that we saw in the book.

Overall, it's an okay star

As the author, of course I love this story. And as an HGTV enthusiest I just couldn't help but write a novella about a DIY show. But if you're a fan of romance novels starring heroines that resemble Disney princesses--you know the type; pretty but doesn't know it, kind to both friend and foe, naive to a fault, blah, blah, and blah--then you might be in for a shock. Olivia is pretty, ambitious and not about to let anything, not even love, get between her and her dreams of stardom. Well, maybe lov ...more

I am so excited for this new series!

Olivia Pembroke is about to have everything she's dreamed of - a role on the hit TV show "Home Matters", a power Hollywood romance with her co-star and lots of fame and money! When everything starts going her way, she realizes that she's never been so confused in her life!

Pete is the lead contractor on the show who is pursuing his real dreams on the side. He sees beyond her shallow facade and pushes her to discover who she really is. He challenges her to disc

As a lover of remodeling and HGTV, I really loved this book! At times throughout the story, I was laughing out loud, feeling frustrated, and irritated along with the characters. Julie has a way of drawing me into her world in her stories. I had a hard time putting it down. It is a good thing that it is a novella, because nothing got done while I sat and read this story. It was a quick read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good clean romance.

cute romance novella. Olivia is a wannabe actress and lands a roll on a home improvement show (similar to Love it or List it on HGTV). The cohost, William, is the realtor and she is the designer. Sure she has a background in it, but she really isn't the designer. Pete is the hunky contractor that believe in her more than she believes in herself.
