When my husband and I got interested in leather tooling, we got a lot of Al Stohlman's books. They are classics that have been in constant publication for decades for a reason.

The information about stitching in the beginning are really helpful and clear, suitable for any beginner to start, however I wish the example wasn't a saddle.

I bought this book to learn stitching techniques for a leather chair I want to repair. This is an old Spanish Colonial style chair that has the seat and back ripped. While I have not started the project yet, the book explains and illustrates all of the techniques.
This is an excellent manual. Al Stohlman was a gifted teacher, as is evident in his ability to simplify more intricate skills.
