Good story, terrible editing

I love A.J. Rivers and all her stories. But I was totally distracted by the NUMEROUS typos, spelling mistakes, and wrong names. WERE instead of WHERE, POSTS instead of POTS, just to name a few. Too many to list. Very poor proofreading. Would have given it 4-5 stars otherwise.

Good story but editing needs work

I have enjoyed this series so far but the 3rd book has so many inconsistencies, typos and redundant sentences that it took away from the story. Olivia’s name is spelled wrong in one part. In another the author describes how it was hard for Logan to stop thinking and go to sleep and then two sentences later says it again. Another time a person’s voice is described as smooth and then again a couple of sentences later. When Riley goes to Olivia’s house she says the crime scene techs swarm in then she clears the house and tells the crime scene techs to come in. It seems like it was really rushed through the editing and proof reading process. I hope the 4th book is better.

This series is wonderful! It is the best book I have read in a while, probable my favorite in the series. Although AJ Rivers may be well known for the Emma Griffin series, I think this is by far better! In this story, it seems as if Jaime/Marie/Everly part could be it's own series. So much goes on during this book and I want more, and am left obsessed with needing more of this now. It will be excruciating to wait for more of this in the next book. It kind of overshadows Detective Quinn's case in this book and that feels minor in comparison to Logan's investigation into his wife's life and secrets she kept from him. The characters are well written and described while each book gives us more about the returning characters. The new characters are vivid. I am curious, though, if Riley is a Quinn and her mother is a Quinn, that makes sense. How is April's father also Quinn too? I need the next book now. I need more answers.

The plot thickins

Jamie is still trying to get custody of Dani. Since the mediation didn't go well, she had to make different plans. Her mother , Everly, showed up at the house she had rented for Dani. They had a terrible fight and you can guess what happened. Meanwhile, Riley has a case where several news people are murdered with no leads. Eventually they find Sunshine, the head of a cult that wanted to be brought to attention by these news people. New facts are brought to Logan's attention about things she never told him. He never really knew her. Jamie is so far out of control. Great series. It leaves you hanging and wanting to know what happens next. Can't wait for the next book. Riley and Logan are getting closer.

Unfortunately, we get to know Jamie more and what she is capable of doing especially after a meeting where she is trying to get custody of her niece. The author does a good job of showing the reader how bizarre and strange as well as capable Jamie feels about getting her through any means she can. We also get to know more about Marie, who was Logan's wife, and what she was really capable of. In the meantime, Reily, detective, has run into some bizarre killings of journalist who are knifed and left to die by more than one person. In the end they are able to locate the group that were doing this but had to go about an interesting way to drag them out.

Book just ends

Again in this series, the book just ends at a crucial point. Next book in the series doesn't become available until May of 25 . Books that have a continuing storyline should be described as such. I love to read series. I love seeing how the characters lives continue. However these books have an ending , the next book takes up with their lives. U r not held captive to buy the next in series to find out the ending of the previous story I will mark this author off my list to read because I really.hate when this is how they write

I think that this book was similar to the first one, in the aspect of there was a lot of story there, and it always wasn't that thrilling of a book. I really still do enjoy the points of view changing with the chapters, and that we learned more about Jamie and her crazy mind. I was waiting for the part when she finally took Dani, but I honestly wasn't expecting her to KILL Bonnie! That honestly made me sad. This book does keep digging up things and kept me interested, but it was slow moving for some of the chapters.

Hard to tell who is the worst person in this one, so many choices!

We have serial murderers, lots of different serial murderers. We have a cult, lead by a woman who is truly a monster, and has been for years. We have a family, whose father is a child molester, and no longer with the family. The women in the family are very clever when it comes to murder and very unbalanced! Wow, just wow!!

Things get complicated

The twists and turns in this tale are like a narrow mountain road - be careful or you could drive off a cliff. The interactions between the characters are very complicated and nuanced. There are two story lines intertwined with the point-of-view switching with almost every chapter. The book design shows the name of the character whose point-of-view is in that chapter. There is quite a cliffhanger at the end of the book.

Fun story, terrible editing issues

While the story is a little far-fetched, it's fun. The biggest issue is the editing. I would not really have noticed if it was just a few mistakes but the volume of typos and sentences that aren't quite correct was crazy. I've never read anything with anywhere near this many editing issues. I almost quit reading the book because it was so bad.

Good Night Time Reading

I thought the story had a strange ending. I would have liked to see Jaime get her due. It was a shock to turn the page and have it end with the kidnapping.
Also, it was odd that the main characters had chapters where they discussed what was happening in the first person, except Jaime. The authors told her story. She did not tell it herself.

The truth about Marie

Logan is investigating Jamie because he thinks she is dangerous. During his investigation, he learns things about Marie. Riley has a new case and no real clues. 2 other people are killed and Riley uncovers a cult. The story keeps you guessing. Would recommend this series to all mystery lovers.

"i was hungry and went to the diner. now that i had food on my stomach i could think clearly." why go to a diner and put the food on your stomach? why not just eat it?
not the exact sentence, but says more than once food on my stomach, amongst other things.
this would have been a 4 star, but there were way too many typos and missing words.
it felt like the writing was rushed.

Say it isn’t So!!!!

No! I’m not going to spoil the ending - BUT NO!!! Say it isn’t so!

A.J. Rivers packs another wallop in this story, full of twists and turns. People aren’t who you think they are and somehow evil outsmarts us all.

Starting the next installment in Pine Ridge NOW! No sleep in my future….

Disappointing Book

I enjoyed the earlier books by this author, but this one failed on all levels.
The trite conclusion was a failed attempt to entice the reader to follow the series. Not this reader!

Third book and no ending

Lots of spelling and grammar errors. Overlooked in the first two books but after this one I will read no more. I will never know what this author has in mind for an ending but enough is enough.

Suspense!

This series is getting more and more suspenseful as it goes on. In this one, we learn a lot more about Marie and Jamie and their relationship. And then the cliffhanger happens. I can't wait to read the next book.

Love the series

I love these books. For once, I like most all the characters. I just hate that I have to wait till May for the next book. The ending is what I expected, though. I am looking forward to the next book.

Good story but many typos !

The story is good but many typos and words left out. Commas put in where none needed. Words changed or left out. Really a very poor way to read a book!!

Intense, page turner and what an ending!

Kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, on pins and needles throughout the whole book! Quite a couple of shockers in this one! Intense, edge of your seat and jaw dropping.

Different angles came up

There was a fire at a school many years ago! Nobody was saying who did it, but the cops thought it was arson. A young doctor had moved to a new town with his young daughter. This was after his wife died in an accident. He wanted a new start.

Hard to put down.

The town, is quaint the characters are likeable. It feels like a place you would want to visit. Throughout the whole book it has the subtle air of mystery, as the story is unraveled a piece at a time.

Who Is Responsible?

This story covered a number of things and trying to solve them since they were different was challenging. However I still don't know how things will work out. Good mystery.
