Ubume used to be one of the best assassins in Tokyo, but now that she’s 30, life is starting to catch up with her. After being gravely wounded by an upstart influencer in what should have been a standard battle, she’s prepared for the worst. But instead of getting an undignified death, Ubume somehow ends up in possession of a teenage girl, a really nice place to crash, and a major grump of a roommate with a secret weakness for found family. Her reputation as a mujina might be in tatters, but she knows how to fix that—at swordpoint.

About the author

Inio Asano (浅野いにお, Asano Inio) is a Japanese cartoonist. He is known for his character-driven stories and his detailed art-style, making him one of the most influential manga author of his generation.
Asano was born in 1980 and produced his first amateur comics as a teenager. His professional debut happened in 2000 in the pages of the magazine Big Comic Spirits. Since then, he has collaborated with most of the major Japanese magazines of seinen manga (comics for a mature audience). Among Asano's internationally acclaimed works are: the psychological horror Nijigahara Holograph (2003-2005); the drama Solanin (2005-2006); the existentialistic slice-of-life Goodnight Punpun (2007-2013); the erotic A Girl on the Shore (2009-2013); the sci-fi Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction (2014-2022).

Asano denounces the flaws of our sick societies in a more direct manner than usual, it seems to me, and lets loose to present us with a world so depressing it could kill you. And if we're honest, he doesn't do much else in this volume: the characters don't evolve much – they're not very endearing anyway – and there's not much action either.
What's more, it's deliberately edgy, with gratuitous shots of knickers or naked women with zero eroticism. That's Asano for you. You either love it or hate it.
It hasn't always worked for me, but – without really being able to explain why – I admit to being drawn into this sinister universe with its even more sinister pseudo-heroine and her completely crazy antagonist. Not to mention Morgan – whose role is still unclear – who looks like a sad undertaker.

There is no gore or too explicit sex in this series. However, between the deadly atmosphere and the sometimes scandalous situations, it should only be read by a mature audience.

Full of over the edge characters..mature sexual shenanigans it's probably no surprise it's from the creator of GOODNIGHT PUNPUN amongst other works.

It's a little too edgy at times, like it's trying so hard to shock the reader. And I don't feel amy connection to the main characters, I just don't care what happe s to them. The art style looks really good, it's a distinct style, and looks great in the action scenes. But other than that, there isn't much here.

Este comic es como ese adolescente que quiere hacerse el guay. Lo intenta, pero no deja de ser un pringao. Aún así, es fácil de leer y el dibujo es espectacular. Si mi biblioteca lo sigue trayendo, yo lo seguiré leyendo.

Tras 400 páginas, a Asano se le ve metiendo más carnaza que en DDDD, en ocasiones de manera muy gratuita. Además le cuesta hacer funcionar las relaciones entre los personajes en un escenario tan directo como la acción que pone en él. Lo que mejor me ha funcionado han sido los dos capítulos que cuentan la caída en la condición de Mujina de una joven.

Pas franchement plus fan qu'après ma lecture du tome 1.
Y a des trucs qui m'intriguent quand même un minimum mais bon voir 45 fois l'entrejambe du perso principal pour aucune raison valable me fatigue et c'est loin d'être le seul truc qui hurle que c'est écrit par un homme donc bon.
Je continuerai peut-être mais ce sera pas une priorité mdr

Would you sell your human rights and what would be the consequences of that? Mujina into the deep volume 2 explores this question.

We meet a new character in this volume - Mai. She is a young girl who sells her body on the street to older men. She needs money badly and she gets an offer to sell her human rights for 200 million. And she does. But the consequences are severe. The person she likes now views her as human garbage, she can’t even go to the amusement park anymore and she could be killed by anyone without repercussions. So then she turns to the only road open to her - assasination.

This volume asks really interesting questions that are relevant in the real world today. How much are your human rights really worth if all you’re doing is working until you’re too old to work. The art is just wow, some of the panels are breathtaking. There’s also an interesting revelation about our main girl Ubume, which I’m interested to read next.

Good volume, 4 stars out of 5.

The art style is starting to throw me off. Almost every character has this… frog face and it’s hard to tell what the character is feeling from the art alone. Tenko always has the hyena smirk on her face. Ubume always looks like she’s daring you to call her out for a silent fart.

And again with the focus on sex. It just makes the story feel… filthy. Like it gives enough bad vibes when you take into account that two mujina were hired to literally fight to the death because two Big Pharmacy companies couldn’t come to an agreement.

Este segundo volumen de Mujina into the Deep profundiza aún más en el mundo que ha creado Inio Asano, expandiendo su universo con nuevos personajes y adversarios intrigantes. 🌊⚡

El dibujo sigue siendo espectacular y la lectura fluye de manera ágil, pero aún espero que la historia termine de engancharme del todo. Sin duda, Asano siempre sabe sorprender, así que estoy expectante por lo que vendrá en el próximo tomo.

La premisa de partida se establece de forma poco creíble, al igual que el resto de acontecimientos que ocurren en los primeros dos volúmenes de esta serie. Dicho esto, el estilo gráfico de Asano es de tan alto nivel que basta mirar sus páginas para que valga la pena comprarse la serie.

inio Asano se supera en cada una de sus historias. Ahora mete temas de corrupción, control social, distopía, prostitución en una trama llena de humor negro, llena de violencia y supervivencia. De las historias más agresivas que le he leído a este autor.

This volume was a little stronger than the first one. I am curious where Asano takes this in the long run, but I probably won't stick around to find out.
