Echoes of Treachery

Rate this book
Meg has finally found love, family, and a life she never thought she deserved. But just as she begins to embrace it, chaos looms on the horizon.

The Safe Houses are burning, the horde of the dead swells, and the Veil between realms is thinning. The Deacons, once protectors of order, are falling one by one. And the man who nearly killed her years ago—the one who haunts her darkest nightmares—may be returning to finish what he started.

Meg has spent her life deceiving Demons and Angels, outwitting even the most powerful beings in all the realms. But as her kingdom teeters on the edge of annihilation, her greatest weapon—her lies—might also become her greatest weakness.

With everything she loves on the line, Meg must will she face the truth or continue weaving the webs that could destroy her?

Love, betrayal, and war collide in a battle for survival where secrets have the power to kill—and Meg may have to pay the ultimate price for hers.

Well this turn of events was very unexpected! I admit, I haven’t read the first series of books in over 6 months so my memory was a little rusty. Happy to see that there’s being light shed on some things that were very upsetting to me in earlier books. Only complaints are the sudden POV switches and a certain someone’s death that felt very anticlimactic. I don’t remember the POV switches being like this in previous books but I may be wrong there. Might need to do a reread actually. The on page death… well, I didn’t even bat an eyelash and I think I should have. Just needed MORE with that situation. Overall, good continuation of the story and excited to see what happens next in book 12. The cliffhanger is so good and I’m ready for more.

Meg's relatively peaceful life with Skeele and her children is abruptly thrown into disarray when Alastor attacks the castle in the burning caves. The children are spirited away to safety and Meg is left to fight for her home. Yet not everything is as it seems and dirty deals are going on in the background.
M.R. Pritchard weaves a gripping dark fantasy full of wonderful world-building and fantastic characters.
