- Back of Book #2 -
After surviving a battle against one of the immortal Fallen Ones, Nathan is left with a burning question: who is the Firewalker? In a mad dash to London, Nathan and his friends try to decode the cryptic Firewalker prophecy, as Lauren and the Fallen Ones continue to plague them. They search for one with a specific power.

Why are they being chased? And who is the one that the dark powers seek? Why do they think Nathan and the others have the medallion?

To make matters worse, the mysterious organization called, “the Order,” is always one-step ahead of them. It appears they will keep the Firewalker prophecy a secret, at all costs.

To answer these questions, Nathan, Malick, Lafonda, and the rest of the friends will come up against Shadow Guards, Scarlet Priests, Soul Collectors, and a host of other creatures. All Nathan wants to do is be normal. But the supernatural world of the Legend of the Firewalker will not let him go.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked seeing Nathan's character growth from book #1. I like that the author is showing a hero that has flaws and not a cookie-cutter hero that is perfect and naturally selfless. Nathan is being challenged by the events happening to him and is becoming more a leader.

Slowly, Nathan shook his head. “Not well at all,” he said. “All I know is that I tried to make the right decision that was best for everyone.”

“Sounds like the makings of a good leader,” said Jonathan with a smile.

In book #1, Nathan was a loner and didn't really have friends. Now after everything that has happened, he has people around him to challenge his thinking. In book #2 we see him become less self-centered about his own problems and to care more about others.

“It’s just that you have a tendency to complain a lot,” said Malick. He mocked him and then smiled. “Woe is me, I’m the poor brown kid forced to live behind the Devaro Mansion.”

I like books that make you think and not just mindless reading. So, if you're looking for a story just for entertainment and you get frustrated or turned off when you have to think about stuff, skip this series.

Drawing Bloodlines....Loved It! The first chapter was intriguing and instantly I was hooked. It starts where the first book left off. Just like the first book, after the first chapter, we cut to Nathan. But unlike the first book, things pick up right away. After the concert things just keep building.

Getting acquainted again with Malick, Leah, Nathan, Lafonda, Angela and Alan was one of the highlights of the book. I love it when they are all together. I also enjoyed the details given about Black Manor and the mythology behind the soul collectors and the screeching sirens. And I want to hear more about the Grimm Diaries! It appears there is a series plot stretching over the books. The world and story are definitely building.

All the characters grow in this book. Each in their own way and with each fight.

I read chapters 20 and 21 twice because it was so dark, imaginative and fun. I hope everything works out for one of my favorite characters.

This is the second book in The Legend of the Firewalker

Okay so I like the premise of this book I even like the main characters although they can be quite inconsistent in their actions . For example Lafonda and Nathan their relationship is very unclear in one instance their best friends with this friends with benefits give going on . And at first I thought that Nathan being with Lea was a good thing but than Leah showed just how unstable and has become and frankly I don't trust her not to put the rest of the gang in danger . Of course we get all the teen angst and snarkiness I can live without but it's become a staple in young Adult book's so we have to live with it . There's so much subterfuge going on that I'm not sure what exactly is going on . We have a deep dark conspiracy that has to do with the founding of the Order corruption at the highest level and the people you think that you can trust are to weak to do anything about it . I have to say that I hoped for more in the second book at least some kind of clarity but no just more mystery our main protagonist goes from one crisis to another with no relief I need more explanations come on .

I was so excited to see this available on Kindle Unlimited just after I finished Book 1 (for the second time!), and it did not disappoint! I loved the new characters and the build-up and growth of the original characters.

However, now after reading both books back to back...I need to read Book 3!

I won the first book in this series through goodreads giveaways. I posted my honest review and now I got the second book from the author himself. I liked the first book, but as I said in the other review, there were a lot of chapters that were nice, and a few chapters that were absolutely great! This book managed to keep the level of those great chapters throughout the whole book. There were no boring chapters. There was a lot of action in this book and I absolutely loved it. This is one of the better books I’ve read, and the best book since I read ‘A Dance with Dragons’.

Steve Bevil is a great writer. The writing is not too difficult and not too easy, perfect for all ages. Everything is explained very well, there are no unnecessary questions remaining. Of course we don’t know everything that has happened, there are still some secrets, but everything that should be understood at a certain point in the story is well explained.

The characters are very nice and well-portrayed. I didn’t trust some of the characters, but I didn’t know why. I still don’t know if I can trust everyone, but that’s just the point I guess, you don’t always know everyone, and sometimes, people do thing you don’t like. The characters are very funny, intelligent and sometimes stupid, shortly, they are very real. I really liked Alan, he is so funny and can say things that are so not appropriate at that time, which makes him somewhat annoying but likeable.

It is also nice that you can understand multiple points of view. For example, I understand why Nathan keeps secrets, he’s trying to protect those he loves, but I also understand why the others that are being lied to, hate that he is keeping things from them. There are, as always in life, two sides of the story, and I like that we see both opinions.

I also liked the fact that we see the characters grow during both books. In the beginning, it’s really hard for Nathan to understand things and he wants answers to every question, but in the end, he learns that he doesn’t know everything and some things he will probably never know. He searches for the answers to his questions himself, and he starts to take initiative.

I also liked the first chapter, where we get an idea of what the heroes are really up against and we hear some of his plans. The prologue, the prophecy, was also a nice touch. I was really curious how that would turn out, because I couldn’t believe my eyes about what I had just read.

The book ends like a book should end, the plot is somewhat finished, but there is still a nice (little) cliffhanger that will make you wonder what’s next. I can’t wait till the third book comes out, I want to read more about what happens next and I want to know how this turns out.

The only negative thing I could possibly say about his book, is that it is somewhat hard to understand who is who. There are the Scarlet Priests, The Fallen Ones, the Order, The Vanguard, then there is Lauren and Lucas. There are creatures like the Screeching Sirens, the Necrocritters, the Soul Collectors, … Who do they answer to, who do they work for. Sometimes it’s a little hard to keep everything apart. But I just let it come over me and as long as I know who the good ones are and who the bad guys, there is really no problem, and that’s something we always know.

Overall, I really loved this book. It’s even better than it’s prequel, a lot of action, intrigue, secrets, Pneuma Novo and a little bit of romance. The perfect book for everybody who loves either fantasy, young adult and/or the paranormal.

Thank you Steve for this great read, and keep up the good work!

Just finished this second book and I have a headache, Nathan is such a whiner, and hardheaded, Leah is know better or LaFonda, both ladies need a time out. The only one that had his head together was Malick and he is definitely supposed to be the teacher of this group. They all need training before they go out and fight the fallen ones, but do they listen how many times does will it take to realize they would have been dead if someone else did not come along and save them? I understand that Nathan is 19 but does he has to act so clueless all the time, I've seen more mature 19 year olds in colleges than him. He has had a great life but complains about were he lives, who does that? He is the only one feeling sorry for himself and looking down on his life, because what I can tell these people love him. It time for Nathan to become a mature person, after all anyone else would have after facing what he has so far, plus they usually learn from each encounter. He never watch's his back and I think he just mad that LaFond can take care of herself. As I said in the first book review, he is not a hero until he can learn to be responsible for himself then others. Listen to your grandfather and stop rolling your eyes overtime he says something to you. I see know respect from him when Roy talks to him. If the writer can make Nathan more a leader and less of a liability I would not get such a headache when reading his actions. Otherwise it is a great story just the hero is a little much to stomach, every other character I can take.

Drawing Bloodlines (The Legend of the Firewalker, #2)

I received a free copy, through LoP, in exchange for a review.

The legend is still not fully understood. Nathan is still trying to come to terms with all that is happening, while also trying to help his friends not get hurt. One thing that they all know, is that they have to do something, not just waiting around to be found and then killed or enslaved. Malick convinces them that they need to get a cloaking charm and the person they need to see is in London. But, while there, secrets start to be revealed, from within the family, which makes deciphering the prophecy of the Firewalker the most important thing they have to do, at any cost.

“He told my father that the accusations brought against my grandfather during the Great Upheaval were true,” said Malick. “And that he had proof that my grandfather was still working to uncover the bloodline of the Firewalker.” He paused. “It was what my father had to say next that really frightened me. He said the Firewalker was a threat to the Order and, if he couldn't be controlled, he had to be eliminated.”

Great second story! You can feel the turmoil in Malick, with all of the secrets of the Order starting to leak out to everyone. A combination mystery, bad ass supernatural fighting and intrigue will keep this series fun to read!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The action picks up rather quickly in Drawing Bloodlines. These kids are a walking magnet for danger and violence and so many times I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting in anticipation for what was going to happen next.

There are so many twists in this story that open up so many more questions then the first book did. Yet, we also get a few answers in this book. This is a great story with all of the elements I like to see.

Alan has become one of my favorite characters, he is such a typical teenager with his bellyaching and sarcasm. In general this is a well rounded groups of teens with amazing abilities and a desire to learn the truth that is threatening to destroy them. I highly recommend this series for adults as well as YA readers. I am looking forward to the next book!! Great read!

I receive the 2nd book after i win the 1st one! Thank you so much for sending it, Steve!

Drawing Bloodlines is following the story right from we had left in book 1. We are folowing the journey of Nathan, Malick, Leah, Lafonda and the others kids of the group. They are looking for answers that noone want to give them, they are told just to wait and will get them but whom teenagers in these days can wait and dont do crazy stuff? The gang get in dangerous situations because they need to discover it at any cost..Im so curious about The Order, hope that in the next book it will insist more on that topic. Great storyline, easy to read! Looking forward to the next book!

Geez

Geez while running my fingers through my hair and zipping my black leather jacket. Over and over. Not good. Story line wasn't bad, but at times hard to follow.
