About the author

While my life has taken me through a lot of ups and downs, my love for reading and writing has forever been my true north. I’ve been writing stories since my childhood, filling mountains of notebooks with wild worlds and angsty romances. After a detour as an attorney and small business owner, I am thrilled to finally be pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming an author.

Though I’m a Texas girl born and bred, I currently live in France with my husband, where I can usually be found drinking far too much wine and eating far, far too many pastries.

I feel so duped. I wasn’t aware of the crazy delay and started reading the series recently, incorrectly assuming because it had started years ago that it would be finished by now. What an epic disappointment. Lesson learned. I’ll never start a series again without checking the status because it’s such a let down not even having a date to look forward to.

7/26/25: I can’t go a whole month without thinking about how we got utterly fucked over by this release date. Penn Cole, I hope you know that I will never, never, never trust you, again. Once this series is complete, I’m done ✅

6/7/25: 6 months later and I still can’t believe this shit. It better be worth the wait.

5/16/25: I am on the verge of going to a rage room because this damn release date still pisses me off.

3/18/25: Still fucking furious over the release date. Like I need the author to come out and say this is a joke.

I honestly hope that the end of this book stays the way it is. It's amazing how the female lead has managed to take away any and all appeal and personality from the male lead and anyone she interacts with. Her inability to listen and jump to conclusions really reached it peak of nonsense at this point that she really shouldn't be in any position of power. If this series continues and she somehow ends up ruling ..... it's all doomed. The fantastic world building and all the amazing side characters can't save this series now.

insane cliffhanger on book 3, then penn pushed the release date back by 2 YEARS after establishing a release date. maybe they have writers block? but establishing a release date the blue balling is a sucky thing to get from an author, ESPECIALLY if it’s 2 years??? (i started the series so i could read book 4 when it was released, i timed everything! the they went back on their word) i like their writing but 2 years is insane! i’m afraid i wont like the 4th book now that the author has done this tbh, its a turn off!

Part of me wants to boycott this book when it’s released. 😂😑 I feel like the author has now set what is now an unreachable bar of excellence this book must hit to make it worth the wait. I am 100% positive it’s going to the biggest let down of my book reading life.

Time will tell… actually time will probably not tell because I could live to be 105, in the year of 2090 and this books release date will still be looming while my great great grandkids bury me 6 feet under a headstone that reads “she died still waiting for the release of Burn of the Everflame.”

And just a reminder for those who don’t know- the original publish date for this book was June 2024 when I finished book 3 in May 2024. 2.5 years when it was supposed to be 2.5 weeks has set the bar high. 🤪
