The Orc Who Saved Thanksgiving

Rate this book
It's turkeys all the way down!

It's Darryn's first Thanksgiving in the village, and his best friend Karla is helping decorate the feast table when suddenly a flock of wild turkeys descends and threatens to ruin the village festivities. The help of an Orc chieftain, a game of Orc dodgeball, and a traditional Orc food fight might be the only way that Darryn and Karla can help save Thanksgiving!

Excellent Read!

The perfect read for Thanksgiving. I love seeing "monsters" being good and kind and saving the day. It's a beautiful story and I'm looking forward to more from this series and author.

Another fun holiday romp with Michelle Franklin's Monster Holiday Series. This one sees friends, half-orc, Darryn, and small human, Karla come together to celebrate the harvest/fall festival and all they are thankful for. There is your usual holiday fair such as belligerent turkeys and geese, and your less usual (unless you are an orc) games I can't pronounce which involve throwing large rocks at each others' heads. I can't speak orcish, but this tale of friendship, cross-community ties, and holiday cheer is easy to understand. Adorable drawings by J. Burrello help illustrate the action, and fun is had by all. Just watch out for the boulders sailing by!

I read this before (Canadian) Thanksgiving.

It's the perfect thanksgiving book. There's fun and games, and a cornucopia and, of course, Darryn and Karla. Oh, and the Old Blind Woman, who might be a witch because even though she's blind, she sees what's truly there.

Also, did you know pumpkins are fruits?!?
