Marriage counselor Abigail Jensen, the author of a best-selling guide to incredible sex for married couples, is forced to hire an actor to pose as her husband when her public demands that she demonstrates her highly effective techniques. Original.
USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author Rita Herron fell in love with books at the ripe age of eight when she read her first Trixie Belden mystery. But she didn’t think real people grew up to be writers, so she became a teacher instead. Now she writes so she doesn’t have to get a real job. With over ninety books to her credit, she’s penned romantic suspense, romantic comedy and YA novels, but she especially likes writing dark romantic suspense and crime fiction set in small southern towns. I have to say that I really loved this romance. Dr. Abby is a marriage counselor who has just put out a new book about how to be intimate with your partner. The day of her release she gets a note from her husband of one year, who tells her he is leaving her for a man and that her marriage wasn't valid to begin with because the guy who performed the ceremony is a fraud.
Hunter Stone, a hard hitting reporter, blames Dr. Abby for his wife leaving him. So he goes undercover to expose her secrets. Little does he know, that he is going to fall hard for the doctor.
There are some love scenes...not super hot but not too tame either. Very nice. This book is a great read which I found to be a delightful romance.
Our heroine, Abby, a sex therapist wrote a how-to book and it seems she’s the one who needs the advice more than anyone else. Our reporter hero, Hunter Stone, screwed up a story on his old job and is now getting the piddly jobs at the new paper that took him on. To prove to his boss he’s a good reporter he searches for a story and finds that the woman who wreaked havoc in his personal life and who was responsible for the breakup of his marriage has just written a new how-to book on sex. Aha! Conflict galore!! Treat yourself to this quick-paced, well-written book that’ll keep you turning the pages. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
It was a cute story, a nice quick read. I loved the little girl, she had some golden lines. "Dad, do you have the condoms?" LOL. The Grandma had some pretty good lines too. This book definitely had some funny characters, I would've like to have read more about the two sisters though.
All in all, I finished with a smile, and that's all that matters. :)

Despite what my comments suggest, I actually had fun reading this book. If I didn't give a shit about the characters, I wouldn't have had the reactions I did. The protagonists were developed well, always a plus in a story.
Abby Abby was a character that grew a lot during the story plot line. She went from a somewhat gullible floor mat to a wiser woman who could hold her own against her family and the media. She was logical about the issues she faced, and I felt that-besides her attraction to the antagonist/protagonist- she made some wise decisions throughout the book.
Harry/Hunter Hunter came off as an insecure asshat throughout the story (check comments above). I did not like the fact that Even after he comes to terms with his shortcomings, I still felt he was insecure . In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Abby ended up counseling him for his insecurity issues herself. I was just happy that Abby didn't put her full trust in him at first, as I see so many dumb "heroines" in this genre too.
resolution I'm glad that true to her character development, Abby The reaction was realistic to what someone of her background would go through. However, I still felt uneasy with how she accepted his feelings in the end. Perhaps It's because I'm a pessimist, but I would have like to see a slow rebuilding of trust between them. I find it unrealistic that she would drop the issue of so easily. But I suppose this can get away with it; it's not as if it was meant to be a heavy novel.
In the end, this was an enjoyable read, even if I started off hating one of the protagonists. The plot and characters were well built, so all of their interactions came off as genuine. The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.
Marriage counselor Abigail Jensen faked it, and she is going to have to keep on faking it. She wrote the book on how to keep a relationship alive, and now the public is clamoring for more than her advice they want her to demonstrate her techniques! But Abby has just discovered that her own wedding was a sham. Adding insult to injury, her publicist produces a gorgeous actor to play her husband, and with him Abby experiences the orgasmic kisses and titillating touches she previously knew only as chapter titles. Longing to be caught up in a tangle of sheets with her hunk of a "hubby," Abby wonders if she has finally found true love. She knows she will have to discover the truth under the covers.
This book was cute.. pretty predictable though. For the most part I had it all set up in my mind how the book would end and I was pretty much right. But then we don't read romances because we want mystery, do we? Dr. Abby is a marriage counselor who just put out a sex book (she claims its not about sex) and Hunter is a reporter who wants the scoop on her. He plays the actor Harry who plays her missing hubby Lenny. Yes they are cute together and the advice part of the book is something every man should read but the 5 year old daughter of Hunter is written really wrong. Unless she has a speech problem she is written like she is 3 when sh speaks and 7 or 8 when she is spoken to, so it is a little confusing. But like I said it is cute and I will get more books by Rita Herron in the future.
Sweet contemporary romance. Everybody’s caretaker, Abigail Jensen is a marriage counselor with a new book out and she has just been informed that her “husband” has left her for a man but it really isn’t an issue because their marriage wasn’t valid because the guy who married them wasn’t licensed to do so. She has a book tour coming up to promote the book and her sister hires an actor to play the part of her devoted husband. Reporter Hunter Stone is a divorced dad trying to rebuild his career. He blames Abby for the beginning of the end of his marriage. It must be kismet. If he can get the dirt on Abby he can jump start his career and get even at the same time. He gets hired to pretend to be Abby’s husband for the book tour. Can a relationship built on lies turn to love?
To say I am a big fan of Rita Herron's novels would be an understatement.I have read like 4 of her books now.Under the Covers had a really good story line, about Abby Jensen a marriage counsellor who writes a book called Under the Covers that everyone thinks its a sex guide, yet all she wants to address are the problems that are facing couples in marriages. She knows that her parents never got married but she hopes and tries to help couples move through their issues.Though she meets a lot of hostility from this reporter,Hunter Stone, who would have thought she would end up with him especially.I just loved how everything played out in this book.It was interesting, passionate, romantic, really sweet and adorable.Worth reading.
A LITE ROMANTIC COMEDY. IT WAS OK BUT SO UNBELIEVABLE. I REALLY HATED THE FEMALE LEAD ABBY, SHE WAS SUCH A WHIMP, A DOORMAT FOR ALL. SHE LETS HER FAMILY USE HER KNOWINGLY, NOT VERY SMART. SHE NEEDS TO GROW A SET BIG TIME! HER BEING THIS WAY MAKES ME SUSPECT OF HER ABILITIES TO HELP ANYONE. THE BOOK WENT FROM BEING FUNNY TO HOW MUCH MORE BAD STUFF CAN HAPPEN TO MOST OF THE CHARACTERS. DRAWN OUT TOO MUCH, MADE THE WHOLE STORYLINE GO STUPID AND SILLY. NEAR THE END I KEPT THINKING, "REALLY, WHEN WILL I GET TO THE END. ARGH!!!!!
A sweet, easy read book about a romance between two people who hate what each other stands for: she hates journalists and he hates marriage counsellors and therapists. I liked her sisters and would have liked to see a bit more of them. The granny and the little girl were also fun characters adding some comedy to the story. Decent plot and chemistry between the main characters make for a smile inducing afternoon read.
I read this as part of the Looking for Love box set for Kindle. It was my favorite of the three. Harry/Hunter cracked me up with his fear of heights and other various antics. Abby had her pity parties but wasn't pathetic like some of Ms. Herron's heroines in her other books. I want to read Abby's sisters' stories too - hoping they're available or coming soon!
Ok I was sucked into this book quickly though there is a bit of cheesy bits, funny parts and steamy. I enjoyed the story and mystery in this book. The descriptions of the men and womens body parts make me chuckle- thesaurus got quite a work out... I liked it and will continue to look for more Rita Herron to read.
Abigail Jensen - marriage counselor- writes a bestseller on how to keep a marriage alive. Then, she finds out her own marriage is a joke. Abigail's publicist suggests using actor to play her husband. Of course there is attraction beween them, and lots of lies and humor, that leads to a HEA. This book was ok, It kind of drug on and on for me. Too wordy? But altogether a sweet read.
I liked the story line of this book, however I thought the story moved a bit to slow. I would have like to see more happen with the husband Lenny. I enjoyed the last half of the book better then the first half.
I really enjoyed reading this book. it seemed to take me ages to read it but I didn't mind as I was enjoying it. It's an easy romantic read with good characters and interesting plot.
I enjoyed this book very much. The characters were likable, not "cheesy" like in a lot of rom/com books. I have read a few of Rita Herron books now and will be reading more!
This book was fun. Well it was predictable, I enjoyed the interaction of the main characters and how their lies impacted how they felt and treated each other.
