So this series was one of the first in this intended age group that I came across for review. I honestly expected little so after the first book I was amazed at my own level of enjoyment and in a way I convinced myself that my impression was based a bit more on the fact that the book surpassed my expectation rather than the true validity of the book.

So....not long after, I am ALWAYS behind on reviews the second book became available and by now, surely, I must be over the fact that book surprised me so much right? Right? I was and still I could not hit that button for an arc fast enough. HMMMM see where I am heading. By book three I knew. It was not me, it was the author, this world, these characters and these plots that kept me running back as fast as my reading glasses could bounce to the next and the next and the next book.

I must admit. I get bored VERY fast. A series in my opinion must not exceed three books ..... and yes I still feel like that with the exception of The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King, Odd Thomas by Dean R Koontz and the Frankenstein series by the same author of Odd. Oh and then the Ruby Blue series by Julie Cassar.

So a bit back the companion novel became available for review. I did not read the blurb, nor did I knew it was a companion to the series, I hit that one click button on Amazon and soon I owned this book. Ok, so I own something like 12k, I will get to this sooner than most but not immediately, right? Wrong. I finished the other 8 books I was reading spending a bit more time on the first book of a new YA series I have recently discovered and adore and then....then I turned the page on my Kindle looking for the perfect next read. And there was Forever Kansas. So I figured, oh you know what, open it. You can go choose 5 others and keep this one for the last in order to read of this grouping....right. That did not work. I kept reading, turning the page seeing Ruby through the eyes of Brennan and again I found myself totally in love with this world. In love with the characters, in love with reading. Through the years I have grown to decide on what makes a 5* read. At one stage it was the fact that I could not put the book down. Then it became that if I could not tear myself away and walked between rooms in my house reading..... I have a few criteria these days but this book reminded me of the most important of all. I love to read, and I love to read a good book and If I find myself loving to read a particular book like going home...then that is a five star read.

Needless to say, this is a 5* all the way,

Mrs. Cassar, you have truly given me a challenge for a review on Forever Kansas! How do I put into words how Brennan makes me melt even though I know he is but a character, and what a character he is! I can see him clearly in my mind. His stance, his mannerisms, his cute dimples and when he runs his hand through his dark hair when he is exasperated or amazed by something Ruby has done......SWOON.......
I like where the author chooses to jump into Ruby and Brennan's story, as far as the whole series goes. This last book could go on and on forever as far as I'm concerned!
It was good to hear the excitement build up in Brennan's mind and heart for Ruby. It really shows just how much he loves her and that she is his "Gra' mo chroi' go deo" It was sweet to picture his side of what was going on even when he wasn't with Ruby. He truly shows how deeply his connection to Ruby goes when he explains that he can wait for her to be ready to fully commit to him even if it means he has to sit back and watch, completely frustrated, Ruby date other people like an normal teenage human would, but that always he would stay devoted to her.
I wish I was a painter or that I knew how to draw, because the images of Fae that I have in my mind are breathtakingly Beautiful. If only we all could soda-pop fizz and appear in the lush garden of flowers and smell their beautiful scent....
The only question I am left with is.....how is Ruby's Aunt Suzette connected to Fae and what is the story behind Brennan's Uncle giving her a fairy cross?

It was absolutely wonderful reliving the series through Brennan’s POV.
So many emotions! I loved how, the same story I’ve already read seemed so different in this book. I would have liked it to go from the beginning of the series, to see how Brennan saw their relationship change as a whole. Now just from when stayed in Ruby’s realm almost full time. I would have liked to see his take on the fighting the dragon, his feelings of when Ruby was saved by the mermaid. I know it would have taken much much more and probably would’ve been at least 2 books.

OMG! But thank you for adding in the things that Ruby would not know, only Brennan. Wow! Some serious stuff there.
I am so lost right now, after finishing. I want more, or to reread all 5 books right now. But I can’t. This is definitely something that if I had in paperback would be sitting on the shelf with my Harry Potter collection and all my signed books.
I am so lost, I just don’t know what to say. I want to gush and gush, but I want to keep it bottled up inside and not share. Its so hard to say anything about this book, for fear I would give out spoilers. Or have word vomit!! Lol
I seriously have a book hang-over, and that is something extremely rare for me. I just feel lost and drained. Like I need to go read all 5 books again right now, right this minute.
If you read and loved the Ruby series, then you have to read this.

I was delighted to Beta read this for the author in exchange for a review.

A while back I had a chance to read a Beta copy of the first half of the book and I adored every single minute of it. I couldn't wait to get started on the finished copy and it did not disappoint me at all. Forever Kansas is a companion novel to the Ruby Series and ideally to be read after Forever Blue. It's is told from Brennan POV and I think is quite possibly my favourite title in the Ruby Blue World.

Forever Kansas is told from Brennan's Pov instead of Ruby's. I loved Brennan in the original books but I fell completely head over heals for him in this one. It was genuinely refreshing to get inside his head and read from a guys voice. (I haven't read many books that the POV is male) And to view the other characters through his eyes was fascinating. Especially Ruby. Ruby is kick ass and awesome but in this installment we see her how Brennan see's her and it's simply magical watching these two characters feelings develop for one another.

The story is fan-freaking-tastic! I was hooked from the first line. It's thrilling, exciting and god damn hilarious! Rarely a book will have my physically laughing out loud. Yes, there are books that will give me a wee chuckle to myself but Forever Kansas and all the books in the Ruby Blue series always have my stitches! Mainly due to the awesomeness of Jeremy! He is just so bloody comical!!

If you have been following me you all should know I loved these books! Julie Cassar is my favourite indie author and her books always seem to get better and better. She is so god damn talented and I hope more people will pick up her books!!

I highly recommend everyone to get started on the author's Ruby Blue series. They are super fun, smart and kickass. With amazing plot twists and lovable characters you will not be disappointed.

I've enjoyed the Ruby Blue series from the very beginning. Cassar spins an enchanting and fun tale full of adventure from the first page. I was so excited to hear there was another book coming out that I hounded her without remorse. (You know, that whole 'squeaky wheel' thing.) My persistence paid off.

Forever Kansas is written from Brennan's point-of-view offering faithful readers a fuller, more rounded look at the world she's shared with us. Just for a while, suspend your disbelief and embrace your inner romantic, your inner hero or heroine and believe. Everything you've come to love about the series is here and more besides.

I didn't grow up with brothers so I can only guess at what teenage boys go through as they mature and would probably still be way off. Cassar dealt with Brennan's struggles against his teenage hormonal response to her kisses to give Ruby the respect she deserves as the love of his life in some of the most tactful, yet evocative writing I've ever read. The intimate scenes remain suitable for the YA reader while losing none of their impact. Well done Julie.

I enjoyed this additional excursion into the lives of Ruby and her friends, and know you will too. I was captivated and then held captive as I scrambled to locate the charger for my Nook so I could continue reading. Although currently only available for pre-order, this is definitely a 'must get' for the series. You won't regret it.

I was gifted an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet Stars of Mars, this author, Juile Cassar, knocks this story out of the ball park. This is the companion novel of The Ruby Blue Series and you must read those books first. Like The Ruby Blue series, we follow along with our favorite characters and which was Ruby's POV. Brennan finally gets heard loud and clear and we feel all his emotions along the way. Believe me you will really feel everything he did because of the way the story is written. Sometimes we have to be just as patient as he was with Ruby and no one could ever compare to Brennan in all his awesomeness. Brennan's POV really make you understand the meaning 'Home is where the heart is.' I truly hope we get to see more of some of the side characters written from this fantastic author 'hint, hint.' This story is one that will stay with you for a really long time after you finish it. I love the way we learn new words that the author creates along with her fairy tale world. No matter if you are a teenager or way much older you will fall in love with this fairytale. Loved every minute I spent in this world reading these amazing characters and the only bad thing is, I hate to see it all end. If I could give this book ten stars, I would have. It is totally super FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC swoon worthy book!!

Since I got the privilege of reading Forever Kansas, I wanted to let you know how FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC it is! You get to relive a lot of great parts of Ruby's story through Brennan's eyes and what a wonderful view it is! Hearing Brennan's point of view adds so much more depth to the connection that we already know that exists between him and Ruby. This book is so much more than Brennan's point of view though. It adds to the original story...like seriously new info/events...and believe me, there are moments in this book that you will laugh out loud, swoon, gasp and even tear up...at least I know I did! I don't know how the edits will go but I have to say that this will be well worth the wait to any GEMS out there! Definitely a must read companion to the Ruby Blue series!

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~

THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK IN THE ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why you ask? Not only do you get to relive everything that went on, but you get to hear it from Brennan's point of view! You get to feel what he is feeling, and see what he is thinking! That is all I am going to tell you, because if you haven't read this series, you are totally missing out! If you have read this series, this makes the entire series perfect! That is all I am going to say because I don't want to give ANYTHING away! Perfect book!!

Hoping there is a Forever Fey in the near future!
If this were on the big screen it would most definitely hit the Top 10 List of the year!!
I've been looking forward to this novel since I finished book 4, Forever Blue, but I was not sufficiently prepared for this magnitude of this journey. If you have read this fabulous series then you should understand (at least somewhat) my thoughts. Prepare yourself for the word vomit about to spew. I was utterly stunned & could not even write what I thought immediately. Talk about a book hangover!
For those of you that have not ... here goes: Julie has this magical way of transporting us right into this amazing world she has created with these characters who call to us even after a year of last reading their tales. It truly takes a talented author to be able to go back & re-tell this huge chunk of life full of so many memories & happenings of some of my all time favorite characters from a different POV without skipping a beat. A whole year later! I was thoroughly blown away by the fact that I enjoyed this story SO much more than I already had!! Especially being told by our favorite swoon worthy fairy! Aaaaahhh sweet Brennan!!
Now for those of you who have no idea who this hottie is let me fill you in a bit ... we have Ruby: the feisty teen who will make you giggle 'til it hurts, Leo: Ruby's lil' brother who loves to annoy & embarrass her whenever possible, Anya: one of Ruby's BFFs who happens to be a fairy princess (of all things! I know it's terrific!), Jeremy: Ruby's human BFF who is abso-freakin-lutely the most hilarious dude around, he's no threat to our resident hottie since he is not interested in girls & proves his loyalty & love again & again saving Ruby (& her wardrobe) in several situations, & Brennan: Anya's brother, the fairy prince, who has been the most annoying PITB (Pain In The Butt) since forever showing us why he has been dubbed the "Prince-not-so-charming" (but soon has us all swooning over his gentlemen & eccentric ways.) Now there are several more characters we will meet, love, &/or despise along the way like Oona, my absolute favorite fairy godmother, Ka-Trampy, oh you'll love to hate her, mermaids, dragons, trolls, the Royal Courts, & so many others!! This companion novel just took this series to a whole new level! More than I could have imagined! After reading the other books this was such a treat getting to go back & relive so many great moments through Brennan's eyes. And I believe the best part is I can shamelessly share this series with my kids who adore these characters as much as I. When my teen saw it on my kindle she practically fought me to let her read it first.
I shall now make it my goal to convince Cassar to bring us back to Fey sooner rather than later as I will most definitely need a fix in the near future.

Forever Kansas

I didn’t think I would like YA, so even though I have owned the Ruby Blue series for over a year, I didn’t give it a chance. Until a few months ago. Then I fell in love with Ruby, Brennen, Anya, and Jeremy. Forever Kansas is the last two books of the series told from Brennen’s POV (with some tidbits we didn’t know about added in). Ruby is Brennen’s entire world and we get to see inside his heart and head.

‘In this moment, everything became crystal clear. She was it. I suddenly and passionately knew with all of my being and all of my spirit. Oona said as much … Grá mo chroí go deo. Ruby was it. The love of my heart forever. My Kansas.’ ~ Brennen

I loved it. From what he was actually doing while he was going back to Fey to how it tortured him to watch the different times that Ruby’s life was in danger to how hard it was letting her live her life not knowing that he loved her so much.

‘I turned and walked out of her room, but I had to glance back at her one last time just before I pulled her door shut. I walked across the hall into my room and sat down on the bed. Leaning over my knees, I raked my hands through my hair, shook my head, and sighed in defeat. That girl owns me.’ ~Brennen

It tore at my heartstrings….. ‘She shared my heart, soul, and mind. She was my balance, my other side. Nature has two sides to everything; one cannot exist without the other. Hot and cold. Up and down. Light and dark. Happy and sad. Me and Kansas.’

Made me laugh out loud…..'Biting her lip and looking extremely sexy, she glanced at me under her eyelashes and frowned. “Yeah. Makes me sound like a dumb girl, huh?” She’s doing it again … being sexy. And, there it was … that overwhelming need to touch her. I leaned forward and gently kissed her. “Kansas, you’re not dumb. A bit silly sometimes, but not dumb. I just thought maybe you were worried about the fact that we’re about to fly over to an enchanted island that houses a many-millennia-old book of magic that is pretty much going to determine our fates.” She grumbled, “Well, crap. Now I am.'

And made me fall in love with a Fey Prince all over again……. ‘I held out my arm to her and winked, “Shall we?” She happily looped her arm through mine and nodded grandly, “We shall. Where to, my Prince?” I knew my playful smile reflected the joy I felt inside. “Somewhere over the rainbow, Kansas.”

This is the fifth and final book in the Ruby Blue Series. I absolutely LOVED it!

Brennan Kaelin is a fantastic character. I wasn't sure if I liked him when I met him in Ruby Blue, because he came across as a bit arrogant at times. However, as this series has progressed, I have grown to love him.

I have been eagerly awaiting this book's release, ever since the author first said she was going to write it.This is a most exciting and un-put-down-able read! I was completely hooked from the first page!

*Minor spoiler* This story is told through the view point of Brennan from after Sirrush had attacked Ruby in Ruby Blue and starts during the water challenge of the Water Court in Deja Blue, and continues on from there.

I was absolutely fascinated by how Brennan saw Ruby, and what his thoughts and feelings were during key events in the series. There are some new scenes incorporated into the main storyline, where Ruby was absent, and these gave me a deeper insight into Brennan's character and personality. He takes his responsibilities as the future King of the fairies quite seriously, but he also has a great sense of humour. And, speaking of humour, I loved seeing Jeremy again! He is a fantastic character, with a very unique vocabulary of sayings. I have so many favourite ones, but "That girl is a skank-ho hot mess in a gi-gah-munga can of nasty crack worms!" really made me giggle when he was referencing Katrina (AKA Ka-Trampy). In fact, most of his comments made me giggle; his comedic timing is fantastic! The story has all the twists and turns of the previous books, but there are a few more surprises and secrets revealed. I even shed a few tears during some scenes, but will not say which ones, because I don't really like putting spoilers in reviews. However, I will say that the ending was a sweet surprise and leave it at that.

Julie Cassar is one of my favourite authors, and I will read any of her books in the future. Her characters are very lifelike and virtually leap off the page! I also love her fast paced writing style, which seems to flow effortlessly from scene to scene. I am in awe of her talent.

I HIGHLY recommend this book (and series) as a MUST READ if you love YA paranormal romances or fantasy genres. - Lynn Worton

***

Ever read a story and when all was said and done you thought..."Hey, that author really should write a book in so-and-so's POV”? Yeah. That is exactly what I thought when I read the whole series of Ruby Blue. And I am beyond thankful that Cassar took up that task and gave me what I wanted. Er, I mean us readers what we wanted. So what we get is a whole book in nothing but Brennan’s brain. Lord help us all!!!

If you haven’t read the whole series yet, I suggest you do. Although Cassar does a fantastic job at helping us remember key parts from the series, it is still a good idea to read the series’ first so you are well reminded. And trust me, you'll want to read it. Such a fabulous series.

Also, I should put this out there. I have read a couple books where an author went back and did the same story in a different POV, and the story either fell flat for me or felt choppy. But not so with FOREVER KANSAS. Oh no. It was right on point and I was loving each and every word.

I would be so excited to see more come of this series and these characters. So if Cassar has more up her sleeve, I will be waiting and ready for it. 5 Stars All The Way!!

If you haven't yet read the first four novels I recommend reading them first before this book. In this companion novel, you journey through the point of view of Brennan who has a great affection for Ruby. You see her trials and tribulations through his eyes and his affections for her. This novel maintains the adventure, quirky sarcasms, and laughs while you are able to see a softer and more romantic side of Rubies love interest. It gives you a better idea of what he was thinking and feeling because in the first four books the readers saw only how Ruby viewed herself and her friends. This is fresh, new, and brings new life to the first four books by adding in details of what happened never before seen in books 1-4, thus making it a great conclusion to the series.

Wow! I adored this book! It was so great to read everything from Brennan's POV! During the series, I often wondered what he was thinking and whether his thoughts would be like a human's or more alien....well, fairy-like, and I'm happy to report that this book answered that question and SO many more! It answered questions I didn't even know I had; it was that thorough! I really can't express in words how much I appreciate the author taking the time to give us fans something so unexpected and awesome. She knew how much we loved Ruby and Brennan's story and were sad to see it come to an end. Really, this book really couldn't be more perfect! Well done!

Cassar does it again, weaving her magical gift of words in this story of fairies, dragons, trolls, friends and true love. It is touted as Brennan's point of view, but it is really true loves ... point of view. Ruby is truly an awe inspiring character as is her one and only true love, Prince Brennan. Forever Kansas is the 'icing on the cake' of the Ruby Blue Series. I can SO see this series as a movie ---even MORE exciting than Twilight and Hunger Games. Way to go Julie! Thank you for sharing your gift of writing and of love ... with us!

This is s series I will read multiple times in my life....and share with anyone looking for an awesome series to read.............. can't wait till the paperback is ready so I can added it to my bookshelf with the other 4. 900 stars to you Julie

Loved it! Amazing conclusion to the Ruby Blue saga. Loved seeing the story through Brennan's eyes. Usually series leave me feeling incomplete; like when's the next one coming out?! But Forever Kansas feels whole, complete, as the story should be, the perfect happy ending to the fairy tale.

This series is absolutely adorable, it brings out the kid in me. I think the author did a great job re-telling the story from another characters point of view. I love having the behind the "fairy" glimpse, and how he sees things. The pure love and adoration for Ruby and how he upholds the fairy values. Fantastic story if you enjoy unique paranormal stories, classic romance or at most part a comedy.

Finished another series! I am trying to tie up loose ends by finishing all of the series I started. At some point I will have to read them all over again sequentially. I forgot that the series was in Ruby's POV, it has been that long since I've read the last book! So I am glad we got to hear from Brennan. I just wish I remembered the previous reads.

Alas, I shall finish my other series and hopefully get back to re-read this one at some point in the future!

To loosely quote Jeremy, this book was FAN-FLIPPING-TABULOUS! (Or something like that). Anyway, I loved this book. It was more than interesting to have Brennan’s point of view. His perspective and experiences through the events added so much detail to an already incredible story. And the ending - OMIGOSH! I can’t say much because *spoilers* but the end hits you right in the feels. (Unless you have a heart of stone, in which case you absolutely need to read this series, this book included.)

It has been awhile since I read the Blue series, so when I started Forever Kansas, I had some thinking back to what happened previously. I love Brennan's POV! Sometimes the male POV is "stronger" in the sense that I am female so I have a feeling of what the female in the book is feeling. I loved hearing all of Brennan's thoughts. The ending is beautiful as well.

This review is for the audio version, see my previous review for a more thorough content review. The narrator for the audio version is perfect! He sounds just like I imagined Brennan, with a heavy Irish brogue. Tone, inflection, and clarity are great and overall a very well job done.

I really enjoyed reading the highlights of the series, from Brennan's pov. I did have difficulty adjusting to his "voice", though, because it is drastically different from Ruby's. That should be considered a compliment to the author, as she is obviously able to genuinely capture the essence of each of her characters and truly bring them to life.

I did wish for more at the end of the book. Although, I will not disclose what kind of "more", as I try very hard not to share spoilers. (Surprises are the best parts of a fabulous story!). I do hope that this is not the LAST book in the series. I would love to continue on with Brennan and Ruby and see where fate takes them. I imagine their journey to be bumpy, but full of love and magic.

Lame

Copied and pasted from the last book with a few extra words and lines added in. I was completely disappointed because I really enjoyed the characters and the worlds Julie created and I wanted more, instead I got a replay, word for word no less. This book was a waste of time for me, for the writer and everyone else involved with this book.
