Secret of the Emerald Star
The storm of war has emerged from the distant horizon. Elves and Men have allied, but they are vastly outnumbered by the evil forces gathering across divided kingdoms. Having vanquished enemies and thwarted the Shadow Prince, the allies maintain possession of the mystical Emerald Star and race to bring its powers of protection to the besieged Dwarves within the Kingdom of Cordilleran.
An ancient mage long thought dead has emerged from centuries of hermitage to help unite all those who remain free against the tyranny of evil. Only he knows the terrible secret of the Emerald Star. In the shadows of ever-growing darkness, the Demon Lord, Abadon, senses the mage's presence and dispatches a lethal demon to destroy him before he reaches Cordilleran.
Meanwhile, in the south, the historic alliance of the Island Kingdoms of Bastlandia and Arcadia, on the verge of celebrating one hundred years of peace, is threatened by treachery. Kael and Galin, while traveling to enlist the aid of the Druid Council, deliver dispatches to both island kingdoms and are drawn into their escalating political upheaval. With the Trade Federation in jeopardy, it is only a matter of time before they set their mighty fleets against one another rather than the true enemy.
Massive armies gather on the border of Cordilleran. Even with the arrival of unexpected allies; General Mekko struggles to unify diverse races to fortify a desperate defense. Can the heavily outnumbered alliance hold out against impossible odds?
What began as a simple breeze has become a terrifying storm emerging from behind the clouds and threatening to consume all that is good.

This was a high stakes and epic fantasy adventure, with quests, alliances, and a good v evil battle.
There are multiple characters to follow so you see their growth and progression as they band together to face the enemy threats.
I enjoyed the worldbuilding and all the action scenes, and the prologue helps set the scene on the Chronos device and Abadon.
The cast features a diverse range of species including elves, dwarves, druids, demons and warriors, and it feels very LOTR in its atmosphere, battles and high stakes.
I enjoyed all the political intrigue, scheming and power plays, and seeing the Shadow Prince try to manipulate and influence. This is the second book in the series, and will test your emotions with betrayals, sacrifice, and victories, as they prepare for the final battle to save the world.

Secret of the Emerald Star by Jason Farrell & Michael de Weever.
The Emerald Star saga book 2.
I really did enjoy this book. Even though I haven't read the first book. I absolutely loved the cover. That's what drew me to this book. It has everything. Dwarves, Elves, Men, Druids, and Wizards. I loved the writing style and the story. The fighting scenes. I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. I loved how it felt like I was there watching everything happening. I love that in a book. I am looking forward to the next book. Definitely recommend.

Secret of the Emerald Star is an action packed fantasy novel bringing together humans and Elves. I felt there are many elements of classic fantasy. Along with the humans and Elves we also have Wizards, Dwarves and Druids.
As the cover suggests we certainly have battle! I certainly get Lord Of The Rings vibes from the books visual presentation as well as the narrative. The characters are well developed and the narrative keeps up its pace throughout. The action scenes are great. Even though this is fantasy some themes explored are very relevant to life today. I found that after I had read this that there is a book that comes before Secret of the Emerald Star.
I felt this can be read as a standalone due to the well plotted narrative. I loved the descriptions that transported me into this fantasy realm. The dialogue was spot on. This is a must for fantasy fans.

Secret of the Emerald Star is a well crafted & well written epic fantasy that fans of LOTR should run to! Its cover art alone is enough to draw you in. It is the second in a series and I wasn’t aware of this but after a couple of chapters I was entirely clued up and into the narrative! Therefore, you could read it irrespective of the first one (I will probably backtrack and read the first in the series). The world building is masterful and the character progression and arcs are very well done, there are a lot of characters, as is often the case in epic/ high fantasy, but they are well crafted and easy to follow. There are sci fi elements, though only small, with the inclusion of the Chronos device (I won’t give spoilers!). Let’s hope the series continues!

I was drawn to the blurb at first. I thought it sounded exciting. The art was nice and fitting for the genre.
I liked the cover. It was very artistic and the attention to detail was wonderful. It was eye-catching.
I didn't really have a favourite character outright. I did however like Abadon and seeing how everything unfolded with his story.
I liked the characters even though I didn't have a favourite. I also liked the style of writing and world building. This was done really well.
The actual pace of the story didn't worked for me. I felt it was too slow. At time I just wished the story would advance quicker.
The style of writing I would stay is slightly similar to Tolkien. Fans of slower paced fantasy novels will love this.

I was enthralled by this expertly written fantasy adventure from the very start. I was intrigued by the testing of the Chronos Device. When everything went horribly wrong and evil was unleashed, the story took off running. I loved the mix of science and magic involved in the device, I’m a huge fan of both. The character development was excellent. All of the main characters grew throughout the story at a good pace and their growth was very clear. The world building was very good, creating a story setting that was truly brought to life. I thoroughly enjoyed Secrets of the Emerald Star.

This book wins the best cover of they year for me, I grew up with my granddad obsessed with war-hammer and we spent hours building and painting his figures ready for many campaigns. This was a truly epic fantasy that immersed me in an adventure filled with magic, heroism and intense high stake battles, I loved the layers of political upheaval, unifying of the Island kingdoms and the complex mix of characters that had me hooked from the beginning. I really enjoyed this book

I wanted to read this as it reminded me of The Lord of the Rings, Orcs, Dwarves and Elves, working together. I liked the world building and character progression. You can tell they all make a powerful team together. I love the world names such as Bastlandia and Arcadia and the map at the start.
I realised this is book two but it can be read as a standalone but obviously there would be things that happened before that has lead to this book, I will go back and read book one at some point to see what I've missed but with how this book ends, it sets up book three. An enjoyable read, it's a little chunky but you don't really feel it as you get sucked in. Let's see where book three takes us!

I was attracted to Secret of the Emerald Star by Jason Farrell & Michael de Weever by its title. I expected it to be sci-fi (which I enjoy reading) just because of the title. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see it is fantasy (which I LOVE)! When I began, I felt like I parachuted into the middle of a story—later, I realized that it is the second book of the Emerald Star series.
As I kept reading, everything fell into place quickly, and by no means did I feel that I had to read the first book to follow the plot. At the beginning of the book, the authors include a map of the kingdom. I loved spending the time going through it to get familiarized with the story’s universe and found the graphics exceptional as well.
The story begins with the testing of a device that has gone wrong. The Chronos Device was a hybrid of science and magic. The device’s original purpose was forgotten over time, so it was tested, its power and the consequences of its activation gravely underestimated. Chronos is a powerful gateway, and no one could have possibly known what would happen next.
The character development in “Secret of the Emerald Star” is very impressive. I found that with each action, dialogue, and narration in this book, the characters grew in both my mind and my heart…whether in a positive or negative light. My disdain for the evil ones grew as much as my love for the righteous ones. Although the plot and action move at a fast pace, the character-building is subtle and constant.
The authors are masters of their craft. The plot captured me from the beginning, and as I write this review, has not yet let go. The authors, through their descriptions, narrations, plot, character development, and dialogue, took me for an amazing ride that will linger in my mind for a while. I will definitely look for more of their work!
“Secret of the Emerald Star “by Jason Farrell & Michael de Weever is an impeccably written good-versus-evil epic fantasy adventure worth five stars. A MUST-READ for lovers of epic fantasies and adventures! An adventure with an eclectic cast of demons, elves, goblins, dwarves, orcs, druids, humans, ogres, kings, princes, knights…I mean battles galore! Need I say more?

Secrets of the Emerald Star is a action packed fantasy that offers something similar to the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms books. I hadn’t read the first book in the series but I don’t feel that this hindered my enjoyment of the novel at all. There are a lot of battles, intrigue and a nice bit of character building as well.
I will say this is probably aimed more at those who enjoy the epic/high stakes fantasy. I personally really enjoyed it and while ti did have a few standard tropes Farrell and de Weever make something that is their own and really stands out. I quickly went through this one and would highly recommend.
As always thank you to Love Book Tours for the copy to review. My review is always honest, truthful and freely given.

This plot is a treat for all fantasy lovers. The narration is very gripping, and the characterization is brilliant. The scenes are filled with action and adventure. The themes are explained in an engaging manner, and I even found them to be relevant as well as magical.
This is suitable for older teens and adults who are into fantasy because of the lucid language. I realized there is a sequel to this. I'm looking forward to reading it.

First off, the cover on this book is beautiful and I love all the details! This was an epic, mystery packed novel that I really enjoyed. Filled with battles between Orcs, Elves, Dwarves- plus a whole lot of magic- this book will surely rope you in with the lore and fantasy. I enjoyed the imagery and all of the action. Definitely LOTR vibes!
