Corinna, A-Maying the Apocalypse simultaneously celebrates and laments that "we are but decaying." Betraying a love of old poems and symbols and new words and forms, these are poems where "the moon's spritzing its perfumes and the phlegm is thick and fast" over cities and Starbucks and suburbs. The poet is in love with the rhythm of the man-made world, and "the rhythm is so strong sometimes / it blows up the room."

I loved Dennigan’s new book so much I went back to read her first collection as soon as I could. This one starts out just as strong; the first section absolutely knocks me out, including “Eleven Thousand and One,” the best poem in the collection without a doubt, in spite of (or perhaps because of) its elitist overtones. The second section consists of one longer poem, “The Feeling of the World As a Bounded Whale Is the Mystical” which I was not feeling as much. The collection struggled to reach the heights of the first section after that, but it turned in some quality work throughout. I probably wouldn’t start here, but it’s enough to satisfy my Dennigan itch.

Outside of Howl and Some of the Dharma, I don't read too much poetry...but this one was quite nice. Lots of metaphors that were over my head and words I didn't understand, which means it was probably good poetry. I would definitely recommend this one...even if it was written by a girl who turned me down for prom in high school!

Beautiful, visionary, sweet and complex poetry from a very nice person. Darcie has an exquisite imagination as she takes me to places I've truly never been or could never imagine on my own. My favorite is "The Feeling of the World As a Bounded Whale Is the Mystical. I hope she writes many more like this treasure.

Well---she is my daughter and I am not a great student of poetry, but I have heard great acclaim for her writing.
One of my friends who bought the book several months ago said he picks up the book almost nightly to reread some of the poems.

I am fairly new to modern poetry, so I have nothing really to compare with this but the Blake and Burns I've been reading. It is really good. I love the humorous aspects. And the references to places where I live. This book definitely deserves multiple readings.
