Bach Flower Remedies for Children: A Parents' Guide

• The first guide to using safe and gentle Bach flower remedies with children, this friendly, easy-to-use book will help parents care for their children's well-being on a daily basis.

• The wide range of symptoms covered makes this book an invaluable resource for teachers and other caregivers as well as parents.

In this first easy-to-use guide to safe and gentle Bach flower remedies for children's health and well-being, author Barbara Mazzarella insists that it's never too early in a child's life to use gentle flower remedies to foster harmony and balance, the birthright of every child. The author provides in-depth profiles of the thirty-eight Bach Flower remedies along with practical applications for common childhood complaints, including teething, weaning, tantrums, fear of school, nightmares, learning difficulties, and hyperactivity. Short stories and visualizations designed especially for children can be read aloud to children at naptime or bedtime in order to enhance the effects of the flower remedies. Combined with the energies of the flowers themselves, these meditations and stories will help children overcome distress and grow into healthy, well-adjusted adults.

This is the best book for understanding how this method of healing works and want the intentions of the flowers are. Often it is the adults that need help as much as the children.

I bought this book for two reasons: 1. For the perspective on what imbalances look like specifically in children, and 2. For the stories included in each chapter that are supposed to be supportive in treatment of children.

The book did meet my expectations in regard to the first point. Since children often express imbalances differently than adults, I do feel like I will be able to reference this book often when working with kids. It was also helpful to read advice like, “this type of child would benefit from breath work like blowing bubbles” or “this type of child is best not pushed into intense, competitive sports”.

The second reason for buying the book failed almost entirely. The stories are not the kind I would read to my children, as they are filled with sorcery, witches, horoscopes, etc. I don’t mind imaginative trips into fairy land, but these stories teetered on the edge of new age spiritualism in my opinion.

I was pleasantly surprised to find affirmations for each flower in each chapter. Those are helpful, and put into language most children can understand.
