I kindly received a copy of this book from Jelly Bean Press via Netgalley, in return for an honest review.

Okay, call me sap but my heart really hurt for the characters in this book.

So we pick up where we left off in the first book, i had a moment of shock because the way the first book ended i didn't think the curse would affect them.

But it did and the first 20% or so, made me so unbelievably sad.

Yea, Abby was a bit whiny, yea Kye was kind of stuck up and yes they were selfish, but honestly
Birthright is the second book in this awesome series. I am loving this series, the first two books were so good and did not disappoint.

Abby and Kye are forced to be separated because of the curse. When things get worse after graduation Abby is sent to Mexico to live with Kye's mom Christine. She is accompanied by Gabe who is going to continue to be her guard. Abby finds out that there is possibly another tomb somewhere close that needs closed. The shadow demons are out to destroy Abby and every

My Thoughts:

The Cover: The cover to Birthright, while pretty, was boring, in my opinion. Based on the cover alone, I would not have picked it. Well, thank the gods, I had already read and loved Descendant. So, cover be damned, I was diving into Birthright head first. Or maybe heart first, not sure.
The Plot: Birthright was a totally amazing story. Take everything you know about Abby and Kye and throw it right out the window. Nichole definitely shakes things up this time. There was nothing

Giles does not disappoint in this followup to her debut novel, Descendant. Birthright picks up sortly after the end of Descendant. The Curse appears to have caught up with Abby and Kye as both are getting more sick the more time the spend together. Yet drawn together by destiny, love, and a fair amount of hormones the two aren't doing very well staying apart. Separation appears to be the only solution to their dilemma. Abby moves from her new found world of friends and supporters. She is forced ...more

I couldn’t wait to read this book, especially with how well the first in this series turned out. Giles did well at setting a unique overall tone with stellar character development. Abby and Kye have some tough relationship issues to manage, and with personalities you find yourself supporting, which made for an easy read. I applaud how Giles was able to create a storyline that was not traditional to the paranormal genre that one would typically expect in a series.

I value that Abby and Kye’s rela

Feeling The Curse

This series must be read in order. The first book is Descendant . This is the second book.

Abby didn't really believe in curses until she felt the effects of one firsthand. Anytime she and Kye touch they get weak and shaky and incredibly violently ill. Transeversely whenever they are aparth the feel hollow and spastic and paniced like they will literally die if they don't see each othr and touch. Confusing an madening torture seem to be the cal

In Birthright, Nichole takes us on an exotic journey against Shadow Demons, true love, best friends, and choices with never-ending consequences. Hold on tight because everything you thought you knew about Abby and Kye is about to change.
This book is excellent because it has everything a good read needs--mystery, love, danger, adventure, soul-searching and saving! Nichole Giles has taken her writing to the next level and increased the connection to her characters in Birthright. This storyli

I loved the first book and was definitely excited when I got a chance to read the second one. I love the complication introduced at the beginning of the characters' struggles with being apart verses the consequences of being together, and the character development for Abby. She's a real teenager with giant sized problems, human foibles, and is so likable. I can't wait for book three to come out!

Still a good story

I’m just going to mark this as ***SPOILER*** because I am going to rampage. This story made me mad. Just so much stuff going on. When Abby goes to Mexico, some things move too slow in regards to the curse and closing the demon portal. And then speeds up really fast at the end in a confusing underground swimming marathon that makes no sense.

Abby spends too much time messing around and guessing at what’s going on. Abby’s stubborn and stupid. She gets drunk to hide her grief, wh

This series was fantastic. I’ve read tons of books and this series is one of the most interesting. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

"But happiness is a choice. Abby, no matter where life takes you, or who gets to be a part of it, only you can decide to focus on the good things."

That right there is probably one of the best pieces of motherly advice I’ve read from a fictional character. I really loved how supportive the parents were in this story.

Birthright is the second book in the Descendant Series by Nichole Giles. The story picks up

Book Review- Birthright by Nicole Giles

Abby is trying to graduate from high school even though the curse is zapping her strength. It is keeping her and Kye apart. Yet she has to have some stolen moments. She is torn either way, sick with Kye or sick without Kye. Eventually a decision has to be made and she has to leave. She is sent to Kye’s mother in Mexico. They fear there is another tomb in which demons are escaping from. Abby is sent to help close the tomb.

I received this book from Goodreads.

Be warned. I haven't read the first book so my review may or may not be flawed from that.

I had a really hard time rating Birthright. I couldn't say I outright hated it because there were parts that I really enjoyed. I'm pretty confident two stars is fair- all things considering.

The main character can make or break a novel. In the case of birthright this is completely, utterly, and totally true. I really really did not like Abby.

So I would like to thank the lovely author and NetGalley again for kindly providing me with a copy of "Birthright" to read and review.

You need to take everything you read in the last book about Abby and Kye and throw it right out the window. Things take a turn for the worst for these two love-birds.

Is it bad that I'm actually rooting more for Gabe? I don't know, he just seems off and broody.....I must be drawn to these type of men...teehee

I would like to thank Jelly Bean Press and NetGalley for providing me with an electronic copy to review. As Birthright is a direct sequel to Descendant, I would recommend reading these books in sequence. Abby and Kye are fated to be together, but cursed to have to stay apart. With well defined characters and a great plot, Birthright has twists and turns that will keep you reading until the exciting conclusion. This book raises a lot of unanswered questions, which leaves many possibilities for st ...more

This is the second book in the series and they do need to be read in order for complete understanding. Abby and Kye are forced apart to try to heal them, which ends up not being the best answer. This story is about destined love and what a young couple is forced to go through in order to prevent their previous destiny's from happening again. Abby is a healer who is taken to Mexico and protected by Gabe, a dragon, however he is not your typical dragon. Abby thinks Kye has given up on her and deci ...more

Abby is trying to finish High school but a curse is working against her . Abby needs to be with Kye but in some ways it makes things worse but in other ways it helps . Abby does feel some emotion unlike the rest of her race but still can’t cry . a mysterious male rescues Abby when she goes to the black market for tears and the is a raid .

I like this book a lot but really what is not to like : adventure , magic , betrayal , overtaking of a people , stealing said people’s emotions and yes e

I was given this ebook free in exchange for an honest review.
Ok. I have to say that this was even better than the first book in the series. I was sucked back into the story right away and thoroughly enjoyed the development of the characters. The writing of emotion is so in depth and spot on to what the situation calls for. I felt all of it. This story has twists and turns I didn't see coming, it was engaging and suspenseful. Overall it was a great second in a series and a very satisfying r

Amazing addition to the series

First thing first go back and read book one. Then read this or you will have no clue what is going on. This book is just as good if not better than the first but you have to follow the series. So amazing!!

Nichole Giles had early career plans of becoming an actress or a rock star, but she decided instead to have a family and then become a writer. Writing is her passion, but she also loves to spend time with her husband and children, travel to tropical and exotic destinations, drive in the rain with the convertible top down, and play music at full volume so she can sing along.
