This one hasn't aged well. It may seem irrelevant to criticize language learning book on story line, but as language is something we use for communication, topics that we use for learning impact results. Story has feeling of being very old, and romance is slow and boring.
Other than that - I used it to refresh my German and it wasn't bad for this purpose, can't comment how it would work out for someone new to language.
